This once popular slow-cooked supper dish is also on our menu, and the first tasting on our tour.
Explore Boston’s history one bite at a time! During this experience, travelers will enjoy a deliciously immersive journey through Boston’s culinary past and present. As we follow the historic Freedom Trail, we’ll share fascinating, lesser known food history at multiple sites, as well as stop to savor iconic local dishes at four beloved eateries, each with its own story to tell.
*PHOTO OPP!* In the heart of Government Center, Boston announces itself in bold letters — a bright reminder of where history and modern energy meet. This is the perfect spot for a fund commemorative photo that literally spells out exactly where you are!
A lively hub along the Freedom Trail, Faneuil Hall Marketplace blends history and modern-day charm with its cobblestone walkways, street performers, and a wide variety of local food vendors and shops. Once a meeting place for America’s early revolutionaries, Faneuil Hall Marketplace is now a bustling gathering spot filled with local flavor!
Just steps from Faneuil Hall, this legendary spot has been serving Bostonians since the 1700s — making it the oldest continuously operating tavern in the country. A Boston classic dating back to 1795, Bell in Hand has been welcoming locals and visitors alike for over two centuries — proof that good stories and cold drinks never go out of style. We'll visit for a coastal New England seafood Classic, and you are welcome to raise a glass of cold local brew if you'd like! You'll also learn a bit of secret whimsy about the paintings adorning the walls.
A Boston tradition since the early 1800s, Haymarket is a bustling open-air market where local vendors sell fresh produce, seafood, and more at unbeatable prices every weekend.
Boston Public Market is an all-indoor, year-round marketplace showcasing the city’s best local vendors, from fresh produce and seafood to artisanal goods and regional specialties.
Government Center blends old and new Boston, from sleek city buildings to one glittering nod to the city’s tea-loving past. At the edge of this lively crossroads of Boston’s civic life hides a gleaming surprise that tips its hat to one of the city’s most famous traditions - keep your eyes open for a shining landmark that’s poured its charm over Boston for more than a century.
Step inside the storied Omni Parker House, where Boston’s rich history meets timeless flavor. Founded in 1855, the historic Omni Parker House is home to Parker’s Restaurant, birthplace of the iconic Boston Cream Pie and Parker House Rolls—two delicious contributions to Boston’s culinary legacy.
Located along the Freedom Trail, the Granary Burying Ground is one of Boston’s oldest cemeteries and the final resting place of many Revolutionary heroes, including Paul Revere, Samuel Adams, and John Hancock.

A very informative and interesting local food tour with our guide Judy. The 3 hours flew past. Thank you Judy.
Katie led a wonderful tour, sharing local history and lore for the tasting stops. The food was an excellent representation of Boston and we would attend again!!
We really enjoyed the experience and thoughts Katie was great.
The tour was very interesting and engaging. You learn a lot as you walk around downtown. The food includes all Boston-based delicacies and you will not leave hungry! Get the speciality Sam Addams beer and the Bell in a Hand Tavern. It’s delish and you can only get it on the freedom trail. Sarah was very knowledgeable and personable and you can tell she enjoys taking people on the tour! Would highly recommend!
A great time with a mix of wonderful food and interesting bits of history. Just was great to spend an afternoon with.
Judy was an excellent guide! I loved all the history and the food. Would definitely recommend this tour to anyone coming to Boston.
The guide, Sarah, was great. She made it really fun. She's a local and had good stories to share. The food choices were really good.
Sarah was wonderful, great energy and was very knowledgeable about places to go and its history. Would recommend.
Sarah was outstanding and the tour was perfect! We saw so many sites and covered a good area of town..the food was delicious and we were stuffed by the end!
Sarah was our tour guide and she was great! She gave us a lot of different information regarding the history and the food choices were delicious! Highly recommend this tour, you will not be disappointed!
At every stop the tables were ready and the food served promptly. There were relatively short walks between venues allowing our guide Judy to interact with us. She was enthusiastic and knowledgeable.
We experienced wonderful food that represented a lot of the culinary items associated with Boston. Boston baked beans and brown bread, New England Clam Chowder, Lobster roll, and Boston Cream Pie. Not only was the food fabulous, we were able to enjoy all of the tastings at some great historical landmarks with stories to tell. Great information and wonderful food that really represented Boston culinary and history. Sarah was a great tour guide! We highly recommend and when we return to Boston we will do well it again! It was that good!
This is an incredible tour! I highly recommend it! Katie M. was an excellent guide - not only did she give us interesting information about the places we visited, but she gave us wonderful facts and history about Boston. The size of our group was perfect - 11 people. The food that was curated at the stops was excellent! I can't wait to try a different food tour from Bites of Boston!
This was an absolutely amazing tour! Sarah was fantastic. Great food, tour, and overall experience. Highly recommend!!
Through a mix up on our part we missed our initial tour but the Team were fantastic. Despite thinking this would be a nightmare Alyssa was able to fit us in on another day at no cost! Judy was a wonderful Guide and the food and history were amazing. The walk is not long between locations just enough to refresh your appetite.
Great history information and stories and the food was amazing! Our guide was very knowledgeable and made the trip fun.
Sarah was a great tour guide. Very knowledgable and happy to to provide recommendations of things we could do in Boston for our long weekend!
It was awesome! Christina was informative and friendly
The tour was great. Our guide, Sarah, was bubbly, enthusiastic and had an awesome personality. Very knowledgeable about the area and the food. All the food was top notch and a bit of history along the way was the icing on the cake. This tour is a must do in Boston!
Great experience. Wonderful guide. Fun way to end our week long trip.
Had a great time Sarah was really knowledgeable and funny!
Wonderful tour! The food was delicious and good serving sizes. Interesting facts and just the right amount of walking vs. sitting in cool restaurants. Great way to spend 3 hours of the day! Would liked to have heard more historical information about the city - but did get great historical information about the food scene. It was a small group and we received a lot of personal attention.
Very nice tour that went to historical restaurants on the freedom trail in Boston. Delicious Boston food!
Christine was a great guide, friendly, informative. Food choices were great. The best lobster roll I have ever had.
Judy was a great guide, very knowledgeable and friendly. Delicious food, especially the chowder!
Great experience. Food along with such history! Our guide,Judy was fantastic! Her knowledge was phenomenal. The food was wonderful! Great choices and perfect stops. Thanks, Judy!
Judy is an amazing guide. She was entertaining and informative. The food was delicious. The Boston creme pie was the best I’ve ever eaten.
Great assortment of Boston/New England food staples. Christina was an excellent tour guide. Would definitely recommend.
I’ve taken many food tours, all over the world…this is the best one I’ve ever taken! Judy is an exceptional tour guide & having Jill along was such a nice addition. The food is the absolute star of this tour, tho!!
This is a wonderful overview of Boston’s famous foods. Katie was a great guide. She is knowledgeable and fun. This is our very favorite food tour ever! Each spot had a nice space set up for us and a gave us a really nice-sized portion. The final stop was the nicest! This is a must do for foodies and some great history thrown in too. More food than you can eat. Highly recommend!
Great tour with fun history, a lot of food and a nice amount of walking around the city. Katie (#102, apparently 2 Katies work for this company) was friendly, knowledgeable and a great guide. She made everyone feel comfortable and provided a lot of fun history facts about the city as well as its food but was not overpowering. The food was great and there was a lot of it. You definitely do not need a meal after this tour and it is coordinated to almost start with an appetizer, the beans and brown bread and end with dessert. The boston cream pie. All of the food was very good and each stop came with history about the food at that location. Katie also mentioned the history of some other restaurants that we didn’t stop at. There is an option to add two beers to your tour ticket and they space it out well. The beers are at stop one and three. There are 4 food stops on this tour. I have done food tours in many cities and this one ranks as one of the best. I will definitely be trying more of their tours.
Fantastic food, and great history!! Very knowledgeable. We had a wonderful time! Highly recommended.
As a newbie to Boston and Food Tours this was a great experience. All the food was great. Our group was small and intimate. Our guide, Katie, was the best! I would recommend for anyone who wants a taste a Boston.
Katie was our guide for what turned out to be a private tour as my husband and I were the only two people. She was very warm, friendly, knowledgeable, and informative. We had done a Freedom Trail tour prior, yet she had additional information to share and showed us different things along the way which we really appreciated. It was interesting to hear the background behind the Boston classic foods we tried, and they were all delicious! This food tour gave us the opportunity to eat at the places renowned for these foods and the insights Katie had (such as the portraits in the Bell in the Hand Tavern) were things we wouldn’t have learned otherwise. The amount of food and the pacing turned out to be more than enough for a meal. Highly recommend this experience!
We schedule a food tour in every new city we experience to taste local flavors and learn the history of that city. Bites of Boston delivered on both fronts. Katie was an excellent guide and provided visual aids (laminated maps of the city and more), great historical knowledge, and had a warm personality. She explained the history of the food we were having as well as other not-so-well-known-facts of Boston. We learned more from her in three hours than we did from another tour we took while visiting. Here is what we ate on our tour: Baked beans and brown bread, clam chowder, a lobster roll, and Boston cream pie. All of the places we experienced these foods had a unique history of their own. Our favorite was the clam chowder. The lobster roll was stuffed with lobster and came with fries. The beans were heavy on molasses, and the Boston cream pie was okay...not what we thought it was going to be. But it sure was pretty! We highly recommend this tour if you visit Boston. Ask for Katie as your guide!
It was a great tour!! Our guide Sean did an awesome job; I had the best lobster roll ever and was impressed by the pizza choice. I have done many walking food tours probably over 30 and this was one of the best.
With Judy as our tour guide, we learned a little about Boston and the freedom trail as we tasted iconic Boston foods. Great choices from baked beans to original Boston Cream pie. The 3 hours went by really fast. We were full and had fun. Definitely would recommend!
What a great tour--the food was delicious, especially the lobster roll at Bell In Hand. We had to leave the tour early and Judy brought our Boston cream pies to us at the hotel--thank you, Judy!
Katie was fantastic! I would suggest removing the baked beans with Italian food. Extremely knowledgeable!
The leaders were great, friendly, fun and knowledgeable!! I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone!!
Judy was very informative and sweet. Loved all of the restaurant/bar options to try out Boston’s food culture.
Judy, our guide, was excellent!! She had such a passion and was excited to share her love of Boston and its iconic food. We had such a great time and learned so much along the way.
Judy was the perfect tour guide. We loved learning some Boston food history and trying the yummy foods. In our group the clam chowder was the winner. Very enjoyable way to spend the afternoon.
A great tour guide Alissa. Very knowledgeable and friendly. Good good and good portions for a tasting.
This was a terrific tour. The food was delicious and the history of each dish gave us a unique insight into Boston history. Our tour guide -- Alyssa (sp?) -- was knowledgeable and every stop was fun. By the way, the food was ample and we were actually unexpectedly full at the end of the tour. We highly recommend this well-organized and informative tour.
Great way to start out our weekend in Boston! The tour introduced us to the downtown area (& some of its food-related history) & to some of the classic foods of the area. Who knew that baked beans & brown bread (bread originally from a can) could be so tasty! & the delicious clam chowder & lobster roll hit the spot. We finished the tour with Boston cream pie at Omni Parker House, which was the best Boston cream pie I've ever had.
The food stop were very good and our tour guide was very knowledgeable about the Boston food history. It was an enjoyable experience through the area
My husband and I are from New York. We both really enjoyed this food tour. Gave us the background of 4 classic Boston dishes, beans, chowder, lobster rolls and Boston cream pie. Boston beers were also available. Alissa was a great tour guide, very informative and friendly. Great way to start your time in Boston
Great guide, knew a lot of Boston history and was very professional. Was a great tour! Visited four locations and was given history on each location plus some off beaten path stories. Really worth the time and cost.
