This was our first tour on our first time in Boston. We ended up in a large group on a Friday night so the bars were packed . I was a little disappointed when I learned that you just had to find a spot to sit on your own and there was nowhere for the groups to sit together . However , the guide did a great job of finding everyone in the bar and interacting with each group . Loved the bar choices and that there was a history to each bar . Did a similar tour in Salem and this one was way better . Guide gave good food recommendations which were appreciated later.

Excellent would really recommend. We were only a group of three and Tony really personalised the trip. It was like going out for a few hours with friends. Lots of information and history and just general stuff as well. A great evening. Thank you Tony.
I had a fantastic time and Tony was very knowledgeable
Tony was a great host. He got all of us strangers out of our shells and showed us some neat spots. He had great recommendations and shared some fun history. Highly recommend.
Everyone had a great time on the tour, and Vann was great! He was very friendly and kept us entertained with lots of great Boston info and anecdotes. I definitely recommend this tour to anyone who is visiting Boston.
Guide (Liam) was very knowledgeable and friendly. We enjoyed the stories he told and the locations we went to
Sorry, I couldn’t remember our guy’s name, but he did a great job. Well I guess when you go on a pub crawl if you remember your guy’s name, you didn’t have a good time. Learned a little history got some local flavor overall great experience.
We had a great time with Van on our tour. He was knowledgeable, personable and led us to some great spots that we retuned to later in our trip!
This experience was great! Van was super informative and engaging. The two hours flew by and there are plenty of bars to check out once the tour is over 10/10!!
Our guide was a fun and enthusiastic one! His love of history is obvious and he loves sharing that knowledge! Thanks for a great time! Would recommend #5 and #6 at Samuel Adams Tap Room and the fish and chips at the Bell in Hand.
Vann was an excellent guide. He was enthusiastic and had a deep understanding of the history of the area and was knowledgeable about the beer, beer types and the Boston brewing scene. He was very engaging and conversed with us about a range of different topics. Would definitely recommend this tour!
Tony did a great job on a busy Friday night and was very patient with us old folks. Highly recommend this tour! And Top Dog Tours is a great company with competent and caring customer support!
Tony was great. Fun time. Be aware, unlike food tours, you purchase all of your own drinks on the pub crawl.
Tony was great! We had a blast getting to see some old taverns and hear the history! Would definitely recommend!
This was one of the best things we did on our trip! We weren’t sure if we wanted to do it but SO happy we did. All of the communication about booking and where to meet was very clear so we found our tour guide right away. We had Tony who was absolutely phenomenal!! He had such a good balance of history, humor, and Boston/Salem knowledge. We stopped at three pubs and the drinks were great along with the history! Would highly, highly recommend doing this, you will not be disappointed!
Our guide was so much fun and shared so much information with us! Highly recommended!
Tour guide was great, but the experience itself wasn't worth the price. Essentially easily google-able stuff or already known things about Boston bars. No set aside area for the group to mingle, we just ordered our own drinks in a loud bar and then went ot the next one.
Had a great time on our pub crawl. Guide was really good and informative! Gave us lots of helpful tips around the city. Looking forward to receiving our group picture! Fun adventure!
Six of us joined our expert guide Tony for a trip around the old pubs of Boston. Tony’s history knowledge was excellent adding to the experience. Loved the cosy atmosphere in Durty Nelly’s, could have stayed there all night. Other guests were so friendly & great fun. Overall I would recommend this tour & the crime tour too.
Lots of history, great personality, friendly , good choice of Pubs. Highly recommend
We had a great time. Tony was full of information and made the time very enjoyable.
Was awesome! Andy was great. Told stories gave history offered food/drink suggestions. Would easily do it again.
We had the best time on this tour. Our guide, Tony, was so friendly and knowledgeable. He took us to three fun pubs. I was looking forward to sitting down and talking to locals in a “Boston Bah” and that is exactly what I got. We met interesting people and didn’t want the night to end. Thank you for such an enjoyable night!!!
We had a great time with Tony. Would highly recommend. We learned so much about the city. Enjoyed the Boston Tea Party at Green Dragons Tavern!
Great time! Andrew was really good.
I’m from out of town, and I’m unfamiliar with the area, so when I clicked on the “meeting and pick up” section, the link to Faneuil Hall brought me only to the ZIP Code 02109. Thankfully, the Uber driver knew where the area was, but just dropped me in the plaza. I had to look at the reservation again, go to the itinerary, which is when I saw that the meeting point was at the Sam Adams statue. I made two attempts to contact the Guide through the app while this was going on. By the time I arrived, I was 10 minutes late and no one was there. No attempts were made to contact me. After my third message, when I asked if I could just meet up with the group wherever they were, I still received no response. At that point, I sent yet another message asking for a refund. That message got a fairly prompt response saying that they don’t give refunds to late customers. As a previously explained, the reason that I was late is because the link provided took me to a general ZIP Code, with the plaza name above it. While I eventually did find the meeting spot listed in the itinerary, it was a lot of looking that I had to do. I cannot recommend this tour because I didn’t get to go on the tour. I think that if the company would list the meeting spot a little more clearly, such as in the section that is titled “ meeting and pick up” (as opposed to the name of a plaza and a link that takes you only to a ZIP Code in the middle of nowhere), as well as respond to messages sent from their customers in a timely manner- or even more proactively reach out to their customers when they are absent, to see if anything might be the matter or to provide assistance in finding the tour, it might make make the process more smooth for future customers.
Tony was super knowledgeable, warm, and a joy to be around. I had no trouble hanging onto his every word, as all of the info was interesting and relevant. 10/10
Great mix of general history and beer/brewery history. Worth the admission fee and then some. Would have loved to hit a couple more pubs but time didn’t permit.
We had a fantastic time!!! Tony was incredibly knowledgeable about the area and entertained the group with fantastic stories. Would highly recommend.
Tony was our guide and was one of the most knowledgeable tour guides I have ever had. He was able not only speak in detail about the Revolutionary War and early settlement, he was able to tie constitutional events to current events. It was an incredible evening. Since it was a pub tour, he also knew a lot about beer and pubs.
The tour was fun, informative and our guide Andy was great. It was a great event to do and see some local establishments.
Visit all the Boston pubs that helped establish America! Tony was so knowledgeable and willing to provide answers to so many questions. I would keep doing this tour on every Boston visit!
Came on this tour because I like pubs and drinking pints so it was perfect for me. Meeting point was easy to find. Tony was a great tour guide. Very informative. Only a small group. 3 in total. The pubs and the area round them was a nice lively place. Did 4 pubs and learned the history before going in and trying some local beers or whatever you want. Tour starts and finishes at nearly the same place so you get to stay in this local area and try more beers or go an do more sightseeing
I went on this tour with my husband and we both had a great time. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable on the area/history and we had a great time at each pub we visited!
Great experience! Fun historic information while having a great time at the pubs. We wound up going to four well known and historic spots
Such a neat a fun experience my husband and I did. Our tour guide Andy was so knowledgeable on Boston history and the pubs we went to. Would highly recommend if you want to know more about Boston while having a few of Boston’s local beers.
It was informative and fun! Went into three pubs. Gave us a chance to meet and socialize with other travelers.
Very fun experience ! We would definitely do it again! Thank you again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Very nice guide. Problem is we got a bit of Boston Pub history, practically no history of or information on beer (like what makes New England IPA) and beer tastings was “there’s the bar, buy yourself a beer”. No planned tastings or group seating. Basically we went to two pubs, got a small bit of the pubs unique history and that’s it. Felt more like we were just pointed in a direction and that’s it. I’ve been on beer tours before and this one needs improvement. Suggest side room or designated area. pub owner greeting, organized tastings and description of what we are tasting. Hard to do at happy hour times but schedule off hour times.
Just mehhh...nothing special. Had a great time with the new people/friends we made more than the tour itself.
We had the best time! Tony was so cool and full of stories and so gracious and fun to hang out with. Really enjoyed the history and the pubs.
Our guide (for some reason, I’ve forgotten his name) was an accomplished former school teacher, and it really showed. He had a mastery of the historical subject matter, including local myths and legends. He also gave great advice on where to have the best lobster roll, as well as dissecting Bostonians’ accents. Would love to have the photo in front of the Green Dragon.
We booked both the True Crime Tour and the Pub Crawl Tour in Boston and had an absolute blast. Tony was phenomenal—super knowledgeable, engaging, and a natural storyteller who brought the history and local lore to life. He kept the pace perfect, answered every question with insight, and made each stop memorable. These tours ended up being a highlight of our trip to Boston. If you’re looking for a fun, informative way to experience the city, these 2 tours would be a top recommendation! The pictures of our group were an added bonus! Thank you Tony, and Top Dog!
Tony was fantastic and a wealth of knowledge of the Boston area. We thoroughly enjoyed spending time with him touring the pubs and learning history of each pub and enjoying drinks with our new friend! Highly recommend!
Tour guide was amazing! We had great time with everyone and the pubs were great! We learned a lot about the great culture of beer in Boston!
The tour was super fun. Our guide, Cormac, knew a ton about the history of beer making and pubs in Boston. Of course we had some good beer, in historic pubs too! Highly encourage you check out their tours!
Laura was an absolute delight. Her passion for Boston history is only matched by her passion for the history of beer in the area. Laura's easy, natural way of guiding us through some of Boston's most famous (and infamous) pubs made this walking tour a highlight of our stay.
This tour was so fun and informative. Great experience that I would highly recommend! Mix of new and old with terrific history. Tony is a fantastic guide.
Fantastic evening getting to know Boston from a different perspective. Informative and fun with great watering hole stops. Tony was the perfect host.
Tony was great, loved hearing all of the history and details of each bar. He made sure to include everyone in the group in conversation and answered all of the questions everyone had. Would definitely recommend this tour.
