Marrakech, Fez, Chefchaouen, Tangier, Seville, Cordoba, Ronda, Granada
For eight centuries, a civilisation flourished across Morocco and southern Spain that produced some of the most extraordinary architecture, scholarship, music and cuisine the world has ever known. This fourteen-day private luxury journey traces that legacy in full — from the rose-red medinas of Marrakech and Fez, through the dreamlike blue alleyways of Chefchaouen and across the Strait of Gibraltar to the great Moorish cities of Andalucía. Seville's Alcázar, Córdoba's Mezquita, the clifftop drama of Ronda and the incomparable Alhambra of Granada each reveal another chapter of the same extraordinary story. From the Koutoubia Mosque to the Giralda Tower it inspired, from the tanneries of Fez to the Arab baths of Granada, every day traces the arc of one of history's most beautiful civilisations. Private guides, private transfers and luxury accommodation throughout.

Day 1
Day 1: Arrival in Marrakech — The Rose-Red City
Touch down at Marrakech Menara Airport where your private English-speaking guide and driver will be waiting to transfer you in comfort to your riad in the heart of the medina. Checking into a traditional riad — a private courtyard house with fountain, mosaic tilework and carved cedarwood — is itself an immersion into eight centuries of Moorish design and hospitality. This evening, make your way to Jemaa el-Fnaa as the sun sets over the Koutoubia Mosque — the square transforms at dusk into one of the world's great spectacles, with musicians, storytellers, food stalls and the warm chaos of Moroccan street life. Dinner at your riad. Overnight at riad.

Day 2: Moorish Marrakech — Palaces, Mosques & the Art of Spice
A full day with your private guide exploring the architectural and cultural treasures of Marrakech. Begin at the Bahia Palace — its name means The Brilliant — with its extraordinary sequence of courtyards, painted ceilings and zellij tile floors. Continue to the haunting ruins of El Badi Palace, once encrusted with gold and marble, and the Ben Youssef Madrasa, whose intricately carved stucco and cedar mirrors the finest buildings of Andalucía. The Koutoubia Mosque — the prototype for Seville's Giralda Tower — anchors the afternoon before a Moroccan cooking class in your riad brings the day to a fragrant and flavourful close, exploring the Moorish spices — saffron, cumin, preserved lemon — that define this extraordinary cuisine. Overnight at riad.

Day 3: North to Fez — The Living Medieval City
After a leisurely breakfast, your private driver transfers you north towards Fez — Morocco's oldest imperial city and the most complete surviving medieval Islamic city anywhere on earth. The journey takes around six to seven hours through the Middle Atlas, with stops in the cedar forests where Barbary macaques roam freely and the alpine town of Ifrane provides an extraordinary Swiss-style contrast to the ancient medinas on either side. Arrive in Fez in the late afternoon and check in to your riad near the iconic Bab Boujloud gate — the Blue Gate — the main entrance to the old medina. Dinner and overnight at your riad.

Day 4: The Ancient Heart of Fez — Madrasas, Tanners & Living History
A full day with your private guide dedicated entirely to Fez el-Bali — the UNESCO-listed medieval medina that has barely changed in a thousand years. Visit the Bou Inania Madrasa, whose zellij tilework and carved cedarwood represent the pinnacle of Moroccan Moorish craftsmanship, and the Andalusian Quarter, settled by refugees from Al-Andalus who brought with them the music, architecture and food traditions of Islamic Spain. Stand before Al-Quaraouiyine University — founded by Fatima al-Fihri in 859 AD and the oldest continuously operating university in the world. Watch artisans crafting brass lanterns and zellij mosaics using methods unchanged for centuries. The Chouara Tannery provides the day's most spectacular visual moment. Overnight at riad.

Day 5
Day 5: Chefchaouen — The Blue Pearl of the Rif Mountains
After breakfast, your private driver heads north-west into the Rif Mountains to one of the most visually extraordinary places in all of Morocco — Chefchaouen, the Blue City. Every wall, doorway, staircase and alleyway in this compact and enchanting medina is painted in shades of indigo, cobalt and sky blue, creating a dreamlike atmosphere unlike anywhere else in Africa. Settled by Muslim and Jewish refugees from Andalucía in the 15th century, the city carries a deeply Moorish character in its architecture, craft traditions and unhurried pace of life. Your private guide reveals the stories behind the blue walls, the artisan workshops and the mountain setting. Dinner at a local restaurant. Overnight at riad.

Day 6: Tangier — Where Two Continents Face Each Other
After breakfast, your private driver heads north to Tangier — the legendary city perched above the point where the Atlantic meets the Mediterranean and Africa faces Europe across just 14 kilometres of water. Arrive in time for a guided afternoon tour, beginning at the Kasbah Museum of Mediterranean Cultures — which tells the shared story of the Andalusian-Maghrebi world with extraordinary depth and clarity. Stroll through the old medina, whose cafés and alleyways were once frequented by Andalusian exiles, writers and artists from across the world. As evening falls, find a rooftop terrace to watch the sun set over the Strait of Gibraltar — one of the most charged and evocative views on earth.

Day 7: Crossing to Europe — Tangier to Seville
After breakfast, your private driver takes you to begin the crossing from Morocco to Europe. The most atmospheric option — and the one we recommend — is the ferry from Tangier to Tarifa, a one-hour crossing across the Strait of Gibraltar that is genuinely one of the great short journeys in travel. Watch Africa recede behind you and Europe grow larger on the horizon as the Atlantic and Mediterranean meet beneath the bow. Alternatively, for those who prefer to fly, there are direct flights from Tangier Ibn Battouta Airport to Seville taking approximately 50 minutes with Ryanair and Vueling. Either way, your private driver will be waiting on arrival to transfer you north to Seville — the magnificent capital of Andalucía where the Moorish legacy of Al-Andalus is felt most powerfully. Check in to your hotel before an afternoon visit to the Alcázar and the Giralda Tower. Evening flamenco performance.

Day 8: Seville — The City of Light
A full second day in Seville with your private guide to explore the city in depth. Begin at the magnificent Gothic Cathedral — the largest in the world by volume and home to the tomb of Christopher Columbus — before climbing the Giralda Tower for sweeping views over the city rooftops. Spend the afternoon wandering the Barrio Santa Cruz — its whitewashed alleyways, hidden plazas and orange-blossom courtyards representing Seville at its most intimate and beautiful. Visit the ornate Plaza de España and the elegant Parque de María Luisa before an evening in the Triana neighbourhood across the river — the traditional heart of Seville's flamenco culture, bullfighting heritage and tapas scene.

Day 9: Córdoba — The Jewel of Al-Andalus
After breakfast, your private driver heads east to Córdoba — once the largest and most sophisticated city in medieval Europe and the beating heart of Islamic civilisation on the Iberian Peninsula. Check in to your hotel before an afternoon guided tour of the extraordinary Mezquita-Catedral — one of the most breathtaking buildings in the world, a vast forest of striped arches and columns built over two centuries of Moorish rule, into which a Christian cathedral was later inserted with extraordinary audacity. Walk the Roman Bridge over the Guadalquivir and explore the labyrinthine Judería — the ancient Jewish quarter whose flower-filled alleyways are among the most beautiful in Spain. Dinner at your hotel.

Day 10: Medina Azahara & the Depths of the Judería
A second full day in Córdoba allows the city to reveal its deeper layers. The morning is dedicated to Medina Azahara — the extraordinary 10th-century palatial city built by Caliph Abd al-Rahman III on the slopes of the Sierra Morena, one of the great archaeological discoveries of the 20th century, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a place of haunting, windswept beauty. The afternoon returns to the historic centre for a deeper exploration of the Judería — the ancient Jewish quarter — including the 14th-century synagogue, one of only three surviving medieval synagogues in Spain, the Palacio de Viana with its twelve legendary patios, and the flower-filled Calleja de las Flores. Dinner in the city. Overnight at hotel.

Day 11
Day 11: Ronda — The City Above the Gorge
After breakfast, your private driver heads south-west through the rolling olive groves and white villages of Andalucía to Ronda — one of the most dramatically situated cities in all of Spain, perched on a sheer clifftop above the extraordinary El Tajo gorge, a 120-metre vertical drop carved by the Guadalevín river over millennia. Your private guide explores the old town — the Mondragón Palace, the ancient Arab Baths, the oldest bullring in Spain and the legendary Puente Nuevo bridge with its vertiginous views to the gorge floor below. Check in to the Parador de Ronda, perched directly above the gorge on the Plaza de España. Dinner on the terrace as the sun sets over the limestone cliffs. Overnight at Parador.

Day 12: South to Granada — The Alhambra Awaits
After a final breakfast above the gorge at the Parador, your private driver heads east through the dramatic landscapes of the Serranía de Ronda and the foothills of the Sierra Nevada towards Granada — the last great Moorish kingdom of Spain and home to the most extraordinary palace complex in the Islamic world. Arrive in Granada and check in to your hotel — ideally the Parador de Granada, situated inside the Alhambra complex itself, for the most immersive possible experience. The afternoon is for settling in, exploring the Albaicín quarter on foot with your private guide — its labyrinthine Moorish streets mirroring the medina of Fez — and taking in the first views of the Alhambra from the Mirador de San Nicolás at sunset

Day 13: The Alhambra — The Crown Jewel of the Moorish World
A full day dedicated to the Alhambra — the palace complex that represents the absolute pinnacle of Moorish-Andalusian art and the most visited monument in all of Spain. Your private guide brings the history, symbolism and extraordinary craftsmanship of the Nasrid Palaces to life in remarkable depth — the stucco calligraphy, the muqarnas vaulting, the reflective pools and the intricate geometric tilework all reveal themselves as a unified vision of paradise made physical. Continue to the Generalife Gardens, the summer palace whose terraced water gardens and rose-filled parterres offer extraordinary views over the Alhambra below. The afternoon is yours to explore Granada's Arab baths, the ancient silk market and the Sacromonte neighbourhood independently.

Day 14: Departure — The Journey Ends, the Memory Begins
After a final breakfast, your private driver will transfer you to your chosen departure point — either Granada Airport, just 15 minutes from the city centre with direct connections to several European destinations, or Málaga Airport, approximately 90 minutes south through the foothills of the Sierra Nevada, offering the widest choice of international onward flights. Whichever route takes you home, fourteen days have traced the full arc of one of history's most extraordinary civilisations — from the rose-red medinas of Marrakech and Fez, through the dreamlike blue alleyways of Chefchaouen and the mythological straits of Tangier, across to the Alcázar of Seville, the Mezquita of Córdoba, the clifftop drama of Ronda and the incomparable Alhambra of Granada. The Moorish world shaped two continents and a thousand years of history. You have walked through its greatest monuments. Safe travels — and until next time.
