Great guide on this tour. Good experience. First you go down many stairs and steps....... which you have to go up again at one stage! However, having through this with an injured knee and ankle and foot, it was most certainly worthwhile the effort.
Knowledge guide, awesome scenery and good value for money
A magnificent cave well worth the trip. Unlike some of the other caves in the area, it is alive and growing which is great. The tour guide was fantastic and the displays around the cave are very informative.
impressive cave with interesting stories, couple of stairs to walk down and later back up. 100% worth visiting it!
One of the very reasonably priced Capes Foundation tours in the Margaret River region is the spectacular underground Lake Cave. Yes, there are 325 steps, and yes, there is a squeezy entry area. But that's all worth it to see this quite active cave with formations growing at much more than the normal speed due to the penetrating water. This water collects in the underground stream to provide beautiful reflections aided by the operators special lighting. Our guide was great and passed on the pearl of wisdom that taking photos on the way back up was a more sensible option. (More rest stops!). There is a comprehensive gift shop and replica cave exhibition space to add to the knowledge passed on by our guide. We can't compare it with other caves in the area, but we were very glad we chose LAKE cave.
Very friendly tour guides (Gary was great), a great gift shop, and an overall beautiful experience. You’ve got to be ready to climb up and down the stairs, but it’s definitely worth it for the view both above and below.
Great experience, awesome Tour Guide Harry very knowledgeble and kind! Sinkhole view was crazy and as we got into the cave make sure you can see and hear what the guide tells you as my sister and I were at the end of the tour line and sometimes large groups can take up time and space causing you to miss out if they dont move up enough. Lovely souvenier shop and clean toilets.
Arrived early for our & were ushered into a departing tour by the attentive staff. The guides are knowledgeable, friendly and great with all ages. Probably theost 'active' cave we have visited and well worth the stairs.
Absolutely breathtaking cave. Our tour guide had so much knowledgeable of the history and gave so much insight into the cave. So worthwhile going. Loved it so much.
The Lake Cave tour is well worth the time, which takes a bit over an hour. The cave is quite something to see. The lighting they installed is spectacular. Our guide, Tom, did a splendid job and made the experience very enjoyable. He even remembers everyone’s name he spoke to. Be aware though that there are over 300 steps down into the cave, and of course, 300 steps back up. There are two places going down that have a low ceiling, even for my 5’7”/170cm height.
Beautiful cave with Stalagtites/mites/columns/straws … all perched above a shallow lake through the cave.
From the first greeting to our farewell, the experience was a memorable one. Our guide (Jet) was knowledgeable and threw in a few laughs along the way. Certainly worth a visit.
An amazing experience of learning about dolmites, exploring caverns and seeing it all up close. Guide Nick was amazing and knowledgeable. A definite when in Margaret River area.
There are lots of steps to negotiate, some steep and not wide, but it is worth any challenge you overcome to see the end of the cave.
Brilliant tour our guide tom was fantastic great control of the group well worth the trip
Beautiful unusual cave with its stream. We really enjoyed the experience and the information our guide Gary gave us.
Need to be able to cope with stairs, and it’s quite freaky when the put the cave in to darkness for 30 seconds. My first cave experience, and I absolutely loved this experience!! ❤️
Fantastic tour and a beautiful cave. Lots of stairs but it is all worth it
Really good and interesting. Well worth a visit
Me and my partner had an amazing experience, we had Tom as our tour guide and he was absolutely amazing Kind, funny and made the whole experience incredible with all his knowledge about the cave and how it was discovered. Highly recommend going to visit this beautiful cave!, can’t wait to visit this place again!.
Lots of steps but well worth the excersise! Beautiful caves with friendly informative guides the caves are a wonder of nature. 10/10 would recommend!
Great experience & worth doing
Once you descent the 327 stairs and pass the headache rock, the cave opens up and dazzles. A small cave in comparisonto others, but its beauty and uniqueness far outweigh its size. Reflect, photgraph and remember its beauty before ascending the 327 steps back thru the sinkhole to the surface.
Very interesting tour well presented with loads of information the lady how conducted the tour gave a knowledgeable and funny presentation, worth the money.
We were only in town for a couple days and this was the best selling cave experience so we just booked it on a whim. Granted, we have nothing to compare it to (like jewel), this was a one of a kind experience! Our guide Harry was very knowledgeable and made the experience very immersive and engaging. However, the stairs on the way back are quite the workout so if you have kids or have low exercise tolerance Id reconsider.
Beautiful work of nature not to be missed. Our guide was humorous and very educational. He was also very safety conscious and made sure everyone was accounted for and safe before he narrated each specific feature of the cave. He made every person feel like a long lost friend. He knew almost everyone’s name by the end of the tour which was only an hour. The natural beauty is just hard to describe. Stunning and magnificent beauty by the hand of Creator God! We’ve been to a lot of caves, but nothing like this.
The cave was amazing and well worth seeing. There are a lot of stairs but you can take your time. Matilda our guide was very knowledgeable and interacted very well with the group.
Visited Lake Cave last week. What a great experience with incredible walk of 325 steps down to the entrance of the cave. We just took our time descending, and took small breaks at different stages as needed. We appreciated the knowledge and local history from our guide. The cave is one of the joys of the world and just has to be experienced in its beauty and fabulosity.
Don't trust the location info in the link - sent to virtually nowhere. Thankfully another cave took us in once we showed them what we had been sent and where it lead us to.
If they are fit enough for 350 stairs definately put it on their to do list when travelling this area
It was an excellent and educational visit for adults and children. The caves were impressive and the crystal formations exceptional. Our guide Tom was the best, he remembered everyone's name and constantly involved the kids and adults during the guided tour. I reccomend this visit and if possible with Tom. Thank you Tom for making our visit memorable.
Right from booking this your tour via the phone, being welcomed so warmly at reception &then meeting our tour leader Amy we knew this would be a great experience Firstly there are a lot of steps and you go in and out the same way Amy was very good allowing us all to go at our own pace. The sight inside was worth it, stunning stalactite’s and stalagmite’s. They are lit beautifully and we learnt so much Amy was very good allowing time for questions and had a great sense of humour Highly recommend you wear trainers as the floor is damp Definitely recommend booking
There are quite a few steps and going up is much harder than going down but the tour is well worth it. The cave is really interesting, the tour guide knowledgeable and entertaining. Highly recommended.
Really interesting and beautiful cave. Guide was excellent and told us lots about it. Took about an hour or so but lots of steps to gain access and then to climb up
Lots of stairs like 18 floors. Take it as fast or as slow as you need for sure, but will all be worth it in the end of the tour
Lake Cave is a truly epic phenomenon. The tour takes you 60 metres underground. The National Park interpreter explains in a clear but detailed manner the chemistry and the history of the geology that receals how this cave has been formed. He also describes how a major fire that destroyed the forest there actually saved the lake because there was nothing to prevent the water that precipitated that winter from settling into the lake in the cave which had experienced drying as a result of the trees in the area absorbing all the moisture leaving none getting down to the lake. A highlight for me was when The Interpreter told us that we were going to experience cave dark and cave quiet. He7 then turned off all the lights in the cave. The cave was pitch black. Without the visual stimulation of the light, it was possible to hear the water that had taken 10 months to seep down into the cave and then drip into the lake. There are many many steps that take you down into this cave which then have to be climbed on the way back up. There are a number of platforms where you can sit and rest on the way up. I would not recommend this tour for anyone with a cardiovascular condition or any leg joint issues. For the rest of us the climb is definitely worth the effort!
My 13 year old was so amazed at how beautiful this cave is. The guide gave an excellent tour and you could feel the stillness in the silence of the cave. Be aware there are lots of steps leading down to the cave and you climb those same steps to get back so a level of fitness is important. For me this would be one of the most stunning caves I have been to.
Haven’t done this since I was a kid Guide was great very helpful Definitely recommended Just the steps going up are a bit of a Killer lol
The experience was just simply increddible!!! Even the more than 300 steps was a good exersise and the information from the tour guide was very knouledgable.
You will learn a lot, but in a very gently, good humoured way. Many steps, so take it slowly on the way back. Our guide Tom, was brilliant.
A very beautiful cave, but experience enhanced by the wonderful Tom. Very informative. Thank you, Joanna
Relatively small cave system compared to others I have visited but still highly interesting because of its unique features and history. The Lake Cave looked amazing when lit up after the lights were turned off - pretty special. Very knowledgeable and friendly guide. Definitely recommend.
There are LOTS of steps, but absolutely amazing and worth every achey knee. Our guide was very informative and kept it interesting.
Excellent tour led by the enthusiastic Digby who was fantastic. Well worth it and great respite from the heat or cold. Recommend.
Excellent nature exploration, very good tour guide, prepared and enthusiastic! We all enjoyed our time
Loved this tour! The cave is very cool, and beautiful, but what really made it was our tour guide, Digby. He was so enthusiastic, funny, knowledgeable and engaging. We only really booked this because the weather was a bit iffy, but it ended up being a highlight!
Absolutely awesome experience. The staff are very friendly and a wealth of knowledge. We had 21 in our group so not at all crowded. The experience from start to finish was about an hour . Not recommended for people with walking difficulties or major heart problems. Cost for adults was $25.
It was such an amazing and first time seeing in my life. Must visit place for everyone. The tour guide was such an excellent and she explained very clearly and detailed explanation. Thanks. Wonderful place
Expect some stairs but worth it. Great knowledge from guide although misguided by the fact that most people’s are Christian and they rave on about Aborigines living in these caves for 60000 years Comon on
