E-mountain Bike Explorer Tour Departing From Marbella

This is a mixed review. You need 3 things for an excellent bike tour :- Good Guide, interesting route and excellent equipment. Lucas was an excellent guide. He needed to be dealing with a lady who fell 3 times! The route was interesting although challenging for anyone not experienced with off road, loose rock and shingle trailing as shown by our lady. The bikes on the other hand were horrendous. Old, battered and borderline dangerous. Loose wheels, gear selectors not working, no working suspension and bearings clicking through wear. These were not suitable and should be replaced immediately. In all good grace, I could not recommend this tour.

Sold as a tour with top of the range e mountain bikes, the bikes were old hard tails with locked (ie non functioning) front forks, my bike had shot front wheel bearings allowing the wheel to move 10mm side to side, our guide was unable to adjust the cones to sort it. Our guide was ok, the tour itself was ok, the equipment was in very poor condition. Don't advertise top of the range bikes and supply old dogs.

Wonderful views and great break from the busy area. The E-bikes were in good shape and our tour guide Lucas did an amazing job. I would say personally as a participant that isn’t super experienced but I do a couple of E-bikes tours each year, this tour requires some experience. There are some steep inclines and declines with loose dirt and rocks. Totally manageable as long as you have some level of comfort on a bike. I would not recommend this event for a first timer.

Very enjoyable electric bike ride in the mountains north of Marbella. The off-road part is challenging but fun. Nice visit to the village of Istan and a coffee stop.

Great tour. Challenging, but manageable. Took a lot of great pictures of the Marbella vistas. Do not miss it.

When the weather is not so warm ware good clothes and shoes great experience in the mountains with friends

It was a great day outside. Oliver is a great guide and very helpful. We had a nice affordable breakfast in Istan. The views during the trip was spectacular.

These are not E bikes. They are pedal assist E bikes and nowhere is this mentioned. I couldn't even make it 15 minutes because it was mostly uphill. My friend tried to go further and she also had to be brought back because of the hills. DO NOT book this excursion unless you are prepared to pedal uphill. Very disappointing

Had an excellent day out to the town of Istan over the mountains. It was my first time on a mountain e-bike and I loved the experience. It was accessible and fun.

IThr ride was excellent, the guides were very helpful, always ready to help.The only small hitch was to find the shop (starting point)

We started at the marina and biked up into the hillls, we did some iff road tracks and rode into a beautiful village for a coffee, we then headed back to Marbella, Jose was a fabulous tour guide explained everything really well and looked after us well, from meeting our tour guide to finishing we were 5 hours in total but it absolutely flew past, brilliant experience though we all have slightly sore bums

This was a ride with varied types of riding. We spent time on city streets, dirt trails, winding mountain highways, and beachfront boardwalks. And, we had lunch with a beautiful view in Istan. This was an awesome experience!

My son is an avid mountain biker so when I saw this and told him we could mountain bike on another continent/country he jumped at the opportunity! I knew it would be a part tour and part biking and may not be a ton of downhill biking but he was still excited. The day before we got some news that our guide was sick and Jose was wondering if we could move. Unfortunately we were leaving the next morning so it wasn’t possible. Luckily, our guide Jose was trying to move his schedule to make this happen and he delivered! It was just us and Jose so we felt very exclusive and private. Being bikers it was quick for us to immediately leave town and start our journey. We worked our way through the streets of Marbella and up the hills above the city. Was cool to see Gibraltar and the African coast all in one view. Quickly got onto some dirt and some stepper terrain and the e-bikes did just fine. We entered a new national park and made our way on pavement up to a 1000 person village called Istan. Was so cool to see this village up in the mountains where we had a nice little breakfast and coffee. After breakfast we made our way back down to the beach where we returned on the boardwalk to the shop along some very nice hotels. Jose was great. He gave us lots of info about the area and other Spanish history. He had his camera out the whole time taking pics of us in action and at some great viewpoints and easily air dropped them to me. My son was pretty stoked to bike a new area and cross something off his list. Would highly recommend this to anyone whether a novice/beginner biker or more advanced! Would love to take it further in the future to some of the other villages in the National park and maybe some wine tasting!

Fantastic tour! The route had perfect balance of flats , scenery and a bit of technical challenge with a sweet stop in a little town for a coffee. The guide (Jose) was knowledgeable of riding techniques as well as history of the area and his support made the ride fun! Highly recommend.

What a morning! From start to finish this was a well planned, well executed and totally fun adventure into the hills of Marbella. GREAT bikes, great route and wonderful guide in Jose. Top man. Highly recommend for those comfortable with riding a bike…..

Jose and Flor were brilliant guides, super friendly, lots of interesting facts about the area, able to adapt the day to suit our varied fitnesses and patient with us practicing Spanish! The route up through to Istan had so many views and we loved playing with the e-bike speeds. Lovely lunch break before heading back down along the beach.

Fantastic adventure. Great way to see the views and really learned how to use an e-bike. Tour guide was an excellent teacher and guide. This was more fun than we could have imagined. The stop in Istán was I credible!

Best experience! Went with my boyfriend on the e-mountainbike tour. It was amazing, had the best day exploring Marbella and Istan. We got to know a lot of new things about the area because of this tour. It’s hot during July but it was good to handle on the bike, no problem at all. Just go for it! We really enjoyed it.

We took this tour as an independent excursion from our cruise ship. Note - the ship dock is not where the tour operator is located, so if you do the same, make sure you allow for transportation time. It is worth it! That said, our tenders were running late and we contacted them and they waited for us. Riding the bikes was easy. Have no fear if you're not an e-bike rider. The terrain was challenging, and not for the faint of heart in places. But if you're looking for just a little bit of an adrenaline rush, this could be for you! Beautiful views, great stories from our wonderful tour guide Daniel along the way, and a lovely little stop in Istan. Our group was on the 4 of us traveling together. I don't know if that's typical or not, but it was a perfect size.

Turned up for this tour was told it wasn’t going ahead because they had a big school party.it would of been helpful if I would of been notified that it was being cancelled so I could of changed my plans. They blamed trip adviser and offered a refund which I haven’t received yet. Ruined my day due to lack of communication .

From the moment we arrived the guys were incredible. Patiently explaining how to use the bikes and making sure we were all safe and comfortable. We swept off through the streets and then started the climb eventually going off road for a couple of miles. This part was the most challenging and some had to walk the bikes up which was not too much work. The bikes were great and did most of the work. The scenery was lovely and it felt so good to see some of it. The ride back was great fun just following the winding roads downhill. Would thoroughly recommend this for a morning out with friends and family.

Very disappointed! I left messages letting you know that our flight had mechanical difficulties and was 4 hrs late, that in turn caused us to miss the next flight and it was then less than 24 hrs. I contacted to see if there was anyway to reschedule since we were going to be there for a week. NEVER heard anything back!!! If the answer is no then that’s fine however still should have acknowledge me. Disappointed Kelly

Our trip had to be cancelled due to bad weather. We received an email the night before and were offered two alternative dates. We were unable to reschedule but were quickly given a refund. Very well run!

Thanks very much to Jose for a lovely spin. He was the perfect mix of relaxed and yet extremely safety conscious and professional. Its a lovely way to explore the area around Marbella with very little effort. 😀

A great tour, the e-assist bikes were great and made the climbs very easy but still required you to pedal. José our guide was very helpful and informative. Would definitely recommend this tour.

Great experience! The bike tour was really nice! Jose was our tour guide and he was very nice and friendly, and showed us beautiful routs and places during the ride. It was easy to control the bike and even beginners would be able to manage the ride. I can definitely recommend this tour.

While staying in Marbella we booked this tour and had so much fun! Our guide Nick who is an avid outdoors sports enthusiast assisted us with the technical aspects of mountain biking. His support made the experience enjoyable. We visited the village of Istan and were amazed by the sites. Overall a worthwhile experience.

Had an excellent day with a group of fellow travelers in the hills outside Marbella. Jose is a great guide; funny, informative and engaging. He made sure everyone was having a good time, and that everyone made it through the 2 or 3 tricky spots without any trouble. Stopped for coffee and a drink at the halfway point in a small town up in the hills. Then all the way back down to the beach. A really fun day.

Just book it! We had the best day of our holiday on this tour and met some great people on the tour. The host was brilliant, took plenty of time to ensure everyone was happy with what the tour entails and how to work the e-bikes. He also stopped at photo opportunity points and explained all about the local area to us. Really helpful The tour was amazing, the e-bikes made it effortless almost. The scenery was stunning, stopped in Istán for a drink and look around (real spain) Will be definitely booking a tour again next time we are in Costa del sol.

One of the best trips we’ve done! So much fun! The e-bikes made exploring the mountains possible whilst still feeling like we’d done some exercise! Our guide was fabulous, and extremely patient with me as I tried to converse in Spanish with him!! He also recommended a great restaurant once we had finished our tour! Thoroughly recommend!

Javi was a great guide and our family had a wonderful time exploring Istan and the surrounding areas. Recommend people are comfortable with biking in general and being on roads. for our family of 4 who really likes biking this was a fantastic morning excursion.

Great time on the ebikes. Freddie took the time to help us understand the gears and how to maneuver on the trails. Being comfortable on a bike is important and the ebikes helped with the uphill portions. The dirt trail has a few technical parts, but Freddie was patient with us. The ride is beautiful and scenic, took about 4 hours overall with a stop for a quick bite in the tiny town at the top of the mountain. Wonderful adventure!

This was a really great day! Easy enough for my husband and I, but challenging enough to keep our athletic 14-year old twins hooked. The right mix of off road mountain biking and cultural visit through the mountain village of Istan. Our guide was knowledgable, helpful and terrific with our kids!

Great tour, Great guide and no stress! One particularly challenging hill/gradient ( even with full power on electric) with deep crevices craters and loose rocks and dirt. Would say you need to be very comfortable on a bicycle. Met some very nice people from Norway and the US….if you like biking go on this tour 😁

Really enjoyed our tour with Jose, recommend for a different view of Marbella. A few testing bits of trail to make this ride a lot of fun. From newbies to experienced riders the e-bikes will make your day a lot more enjoyable. Thank you Jose for your patience and understanding with all involved

Nice experience. Jose was a great guide. Wasn’t too hard thanks to the e-bike capability. Views were tremendous. The little village at the top, Istan, was charming.

This tour with Jose exceeded all my expectations. My daughter and I were touring Andalusia for a week and I wanted to do an adventurous activity to celebrate on our shared birthday. Pros: -location was easy to find using Google maps and directions from NaluSur. Pay parking lot adjacent to rental facility. -always felt very safe. Bikes were high quality and we spent time before leaving NaluSur being appropriately sized for bikes and fitted with helmets. Jose gave us a short tutorial on how to shift gears, adjust power settings and proper braking. While my 25 year old daughter has a mountain bike, she has never used an e-bike. I have neither used an e-bike nor a mountain bike although I do ride a road bike and am a dedicated Peloton user. Do not be hesitant to book this activity if you don't have prior e-bike or mountain bike experience, you will be taught everything you need to know. -The tour took us through Marbella, up into the mountains and to a beautiful white village for a rest break. The bikes were so much fun as we passed through beautiful landscapes. I never could have biked that distance and elevation under my own power. -This activity was so much more than a bike ride. Jose shared insight into the geography, environment, agriculture and current events of the areas in and around Marbella. The other couple on our tour was helpful (very experienced mountain bikers) and lovely. It felt like we were spending a day with friends. Cons: -None! Thank you Jose for giving us very special birthdays we will always remember. We hope to visit Marbella again with the rest of our family and will definitely book another tour. We wished we had another day in the area because we would have checked out your water sports offerings too!

This is a great way to tour Marbella and the surrounding area. We stopped in the little town of Istan for a beverage and a little bit to eat as well as enjoy the area views. The total round trip was 26 miles and about 1,500 ft of elevation to climb. The E-Bike makes this all doable for less fit and experienced cyclist. Though you need to be comfortable cycling on sometimes narrow winding roads with car traffic. Jose was a great guide providing solid skill instruction for less experienced riders as well as providing historical insights about the area. Total trip time with stops was about 5 hours… would highly recommend!

A great few hours exploring the hills behind Marbella ending with a drink in a beautiful small Spanish village. No need for much prior cycling experience, the guides are very good at ensuring everyone enjoys themselves, as long as you can ride confidently on the road you should be fine on this trip.

We had a great time exploring Marbella by e-bike. The tour was a great mix of light off road and town/city riding. José was an amazing leader, very knowledgeable and approachable. Loved the authentic breakfast and village. Recommend!
