From the moment you arrive, SO/ Sotogrande sweeps you off your feet. Nestled up in the hills, the resort feels like a peaceful, safe sanctuary surrounded by rolling landscape and pine trees. You will find the classic white-washed Andalusian charm with effortless modern luxury, and every single corner of the grounds has clearly been designed with so much care and attention. What elevates this place from a beautiful hotel to an unforgettable experience, though, is the incredible team. A huge thank you to Luisa at reception, who welcomed us so warmly and made both check-in and check-out feel seamless, relaxed, and genuinely friendly. And our biggest gratitude goes to Damien, who went above and beyond at every turn to make sure our stay was nothing short of perfection. It’s rare to encounter service that feels so sincere and attentive. We stayed in one of the SO/ Lofty suites, and honestly, we could have moved in forever. The space is vast, private, and filled with natural light, but the absolute highlight is the bedroom bathtub looking out over the hills and pines, such an indulgent, serene moment after a day out (believe me I’ve used it every day). The bed and crisp linens are pure heaven, the complimentary minibar and in-room Illy coffee are lovely touches, and even the bath amenities left my hair feeling incredibly soft, silky, and smelling fantastic. The dining was a consistent treat: Breakfast at Society: Easily one of our favorite parts of the morning. It’s entirely à la carte and made to order (which means no food waste and everything arrives piping hot and fresh). Do not skip the traditional Andaluza toast, the freshly squeezed orange juice, and the morning pastry basket filled with warm croissants and pain au chocolat alongside Bonne Maman preserves. Cortijo Santa María 1962: A culinary dream. The historic farmhouse atmosphere combined with contemporary Andalusian cooking was stunning. The olive oil tasting is such a sophisticated touch, the curated cuts of meat were phenomenal, and both the cod and mussels were cooked to absolute perfection. IXO Bar: Perfect for evening drinks,if you are there over the weekend, the Saturday live flamenco performance adds such vibrant soul to the evening. And they offer one of the best club sandwiches you will ever taste! For downtime, the resort hits every mark. The golf facilities are state-of-the-art and an absolute playground if you play the sport. The spa is another league altogether. Every woman at the spa reception is a superstar, warm, attentive, and making you feel pampered from the second you walk through the doors. The thermal circuits and the locally inspired salt treatments, using sea salt from Cadiz and native Mediterranean botanicals, left our skin feeling completely renewed and deeply relaxed. We also took some time to visit The Beach at La Reserva Club nearby, a stunning inland lagoon oasis with a fabulous restaurant and bar that feels like being on a private island paradise. SO/ Sotogrande manages to balance effortless luxury, incredible wellness, and deep-rooted Andalusian soul. We left feeling completely recharged and aligned, and we are already dreaming of our return!

Me and my girlfriends went to all-inclusive for a week and we absolutely loved it!! The resort is beautiful, with a nice gym and spa. There were 3 large outdoor pools, although only one was open during our time there (beginning of October = low season) and also pools in the spa. The rooms were tidy and staff visited the room 2-3 times a day to refill the mini bar, make up the room and close the curtains (nighttime). It was a delight to return to the room knowing the towels were clean and the bed was made every morning. We went for breakfast, lunch and (some days) dinner in the Society Clubhouse. We loved the extensive menu we could choose from. After the week I still had not tried the entire menu! The food was pretty good, especially the breakfast options. A big shout-out to our servers Mercedes and Kathy, they made sure we got everything we wanted and made our dinner experience the best every single day! 🩷 We also had dinner in the Cortijo restaurant above the bar, which was amazing!! If you're going all-inclusive, there's relatively many options of the menu to choose from which was a nice surprise. All wine was also included. Also a shout-out to Juan for kicking our butts in the GAP group classes and for joining us in the workout while we were dying 😰. If you want a challenge, he's the one to go to! Lastly a big big shout-out to May for giving me the BEST (passeo relaxing) massage OF MY LIFE. She truly has magic hands 💆🏻♀️😍. PRO TIP: Try the Pina Colada in the IXO bar!!! One of the best I've ever had 😍😍😍
This was our first visit to So/Sotogrande and my review is mixed. Beginning with the positives, the grounds of the hotel are beautiful and very well maintained, our room was very nice and the greeting we received when we arrived was really friendly. The hotel has 3 main restaurants - Cortijo was excellent and definitely 5* in terms of decor, service and quality of food. The food at Marxa was excellent but the service was slightly off. We waited over 30 mins for our drinks and when we enquired if we would be getting them, we received a curt, we are busy!. Society is not good at all - the food is basic, the service pretty unfriendly and the price is extortionate and the food definitely does not warrant the price (on our first night we shared some iberico ham, had a hot dog and a club sandwich, 2 drinks and the bill was Euros 110. In terms of other aspects of our stay: The service was not great. Staff on reception, although very friendly and wishing to help, seem to lack any knowledge of the facilities of the hotel (with the exception of Daniel (or David - my apologies but I can't remember his name - who was great). On our first full day, our room was not cleaned and at 4pm we called reception who sent a team of 3 people to clean the room which seemed to be extremely superficial and took no longer then 5 mins. The minibar is non-existent. The only drinks we had were a few small tins of still water and only 2 were given to us daily - apparently our maximum allowance! In Society, the staff seem to concentrate only on the golfers, ignoring everyone else - most days at breakfast we had to ask to order food. The only exception to this was Mercedes on our last day who was friendly, helpful, efficient and seemed to really want to look after us. In IXO bar we waited over 30 mins to be served, when I approached a waitress, and asked to order, she snapped "theres only 3 of us and we are busy" - not really what you want to hear at a 5* hotel you've paid quite a bit of money to stay in. When they gave us our bill, they seemed to have included drinks for everyone else in the bar on our tab!! 2. The pools are basic and disappointing with no real food or drink service. 3. On our last day, we had asked for someone to collect our cases at 7:45 am. They didn't turn up. When we phoned reception we were told "don't worry, I am sure they will come" - again not very reassuring. In summary, I don't think we will be returning and would really only recommend the hotel to golfers. It is not 5* standard by any means and overall was quite disappointing. Shame as it could be really great.
Absolutely fantastic experience from start to finish. The massage was, without a doubt, the best I’ve ever had incredibly relaxing and exactly what I needed. The facial was also excellent, leaving my skin feeling refreshed and glowing. The staff were warm, welcoming and extremely helpful throughout my visit, making me feel comfortable from the moment I arrived. The service was exceptional, and the attention to detail really stood out. I couldn’t recommend this spa more highly and will definitely be returning. Thank you for such a wonderful experience!
Summer 26 On many accounts this was a great trip, I travelled with my wife and 8 year old daughter, and overall there are alot of positives to take from this hotel and the area itself. Check in was easy and once we visited the first room which was very dark and enclosed we were moved to an alternative which was much brighter. The rooms are spacious and furnished well, especially the bathroom suite space. The daily cleaning needs a little extra work as it was very much a surface clean only that we experienced. Spa and wellness centre was amazing and cannot find any real negatives . Kids club for those with families was superb on every level , however on the kids pool space, lifeguards on phones and towels not readily available is not necessarily a five star experience that I believe the hotel is aiming to achieve. Food can be limited overall and we found we had to go out of complex to get food as either the relevant restaurant was shut for the night and the other restaurant had no space to accommodate a sensible time with children as it’s limited space. Breakfast was first class without any hesitation on saying this and the team were lovely. Drinks to the pool were serviced by the app that is a great system but feel a too bar serving the kids pool space and the bottom bar serving the adults space may be a more workable option , and equally toilets would be more suited to be closer to the kids pool than they are currently. All the staff we came in contact with were really helpful and accommodating and I think we would go back but would be more mindful of booking restaurants in advance, as that’s my only slightly negative takeaway from the trip. The local area is lovely , especially the marina nearby and with Banús only 30 mins drive away and Estepona circa 20 mins away , it’s a great location for all required. Will we be back ? I hope so but would lime to see a few more restaurant options.
