About Activity
On this hour tour, depart from the pier of the Tropical Hotel or the city pier on the world’s largest black water river, the Rio Negro, and travel downstream, observing the shore of the city and the houses that are built on stilts. Arrive at the confluence of the Rio Solimoes and the Rio Negro, called the "Meeting of the Waters". From this point on both rivers form the Amazon River that runs all the way to the Atlantic Ocean. The waters of the two rivers run side by side without mixing for about 7.5 miles. The phenomenon happens due to differences in temperature, density and speed of the waters of the rivers. You will also be able to learn about the culture and customs of the river bank residents.
