Departure & Return
Departure Point
- Be picked up from Manaus in your hotel. Please share your WhatsApp number because that's the way we will contact you to set the pickup If your hotel is not on the list you must take an uber and meet us near the Amazonas Theater downtown Manaus at 8am.
Itinerary
We start around 8am from your hotel and drive west from Manaus for about one hour to the Castanho lake where our host will take you by motorized canoe (no cover typical slow amazonian transport) heading to the jungle where we’ll start a 2-3 hours hike to learn about Amazonian fauna and flora, like medicinal plants, jungle survival etc. We can't promise you'll see animals because our jungle is very dense and most of our creatures are small, but we will try to show you as much as Mother Nature allows us. (for this part of the tour you must wear long pants, closed toed shoes. Bring also a rain coat and insect repellent much needed during our wet season)
Now we ride to a platform where a project is held for protection and research about pink river dolphins, in this place we’ll have the unique opportunity to learn about these friendly beautiful creatures and enter the water to interact with them. (you must bring your swimming suits and towels)
We will have lunch at a floating house and relax before heading to the next activities. Normally we serve fish or chicken, rice, beans, manioc floor and some vegetables (simple means. We can't provide special food).
During the wet season (March through August) we have the forests flooded and during the dry season we navigate through the small canals that are formed in the region. Along this ride ride we search for a good spot to stop and fish for the famous and ferocious piranhas as we enjoy the beauty of the region. (make sure you have a hat, rain coat, sunscreen and insect repellent).
We will search for a good spot to marvel the most beautiful sunset and see how the nature goes to sleep giving room for the creatures that wake up as the night falls. Once the sun sets we go searching for the nocturnal creatures and with luck we can get really close to some of them like the caymans for instance. (you can bring a flashlight for this moment). We start heading back to Manaus around 7:30pm arriving to your hotel around 8:30pm when all you will want is a shower and bed ;)

What an incredible tour! A full 12 hour day went by so fast! I didn’t want it to end. Our tour guide, whom I believe was Milton, was knowledgeable, friendly and fun! It was very hot and humid throughout the hike so wearing the right clothing was key. But I had the most amazing time meeting tons of people from all over the world. I highly recommend everyone book this tour.
We had an unforgettable day in the Amazon. From start to finish everything was perfect. Great communication from Milton once we had booked, the transfer was seamless and comfortable. Dennis our guide for the day was amazing! He was Knowledgeable and friendly and really made sure that we had a great day. A boat ride on the Amazon, jungle trek, very tasty authentic lunch, swimming with the pink dolphins, piranha fishing and sunset and cayman spotting. Really could not have asked for more! Thank you Dennis for a day we will never forget! A must if you are visiting Manaus and want to explore the Amazon and great value for money!
The experience was amazing and for only a day I feel like I was able to enjoy so much of the Amazons. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. Everything about this experience was amazing!
There are truly no words to describe how magical our days with Amazon Private your were. Over the course of a week in Manaus, we experienced the Amazon in every dimension: beauty, science, culture, and pure emotion, from the jungle to the river to the caves and waterfalls. What sets this company apart is the team. André, Arthur, Alessandro, Daniel, Maria Vitória, Leonardo, and above all Milton, the architect of the whole experience, treated us with warmth and care from start to finish. Every detail was thought through, including delicious lunches along the way and countless small gestures of kindness. We were also deeply impressed by the team's commitment to sustainability. They genuinely care for the forest, even stopping to collect trash we came across along the trails and riverbanks. It says everything about how much they love and respect the Amazon, and it made us admire them even more. We came home carrying memories we will treasure forever. If you are considering a trip to the Amazon, look no further. Gratidão, Milton and team!
I had a wonderful time on this tour! It was an incredible day packed with activities, but there was also plenty of time to slow down, relax, and simply enjoy being out on the Rio Negro. The tour company was extremely communicative and went above and beyond to help when I ran into an issue getting to the meeting point on time. I loved our guide - as a local to the area, he had a lot of knowledge that he graciously shared with us. I was in Manaus for work and only had one free day, so this was the perfect way to experience a little bit of Amazonia in a short amount of time. I also loved being able to join a group as a solo traveler.
many people, crowd very much.much more commercial, short time with dolphin, many people swim ,can't see the dolphin almost.bad attitude the guide.unhappy experience.
Fabio was an extremely knowledgeable and attentive guide. He helped us to appreciate the riches of the Amazon as he shared what is almost literally his back yard. The lunch prepared and served on the floating house was local and delicious. We had an incredible day!
Very hot/humid in the jungle. Thats the only part we wore long sleeves to help protect from the mosquitoes. The rest was shorts and tshirt.
Excellent experience. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a good place to sightseeing and exploring the jungle
My dad and I went on two different tours with AmazonPrivateTours: the all-day jungle tour and all-day city&river tour. Our guides, Dennis (showed us the markets, palácio do Rio Negro, opera house), Leonardo (ate lunch at a flutuante and showed us encontro das águas and Parque Janauari— which included monkeys, lily pads, feeding the pirarucu, and the great queen tree Sumaúma), and Raymond (Mr. Survivor, The Man Himself) were all AMAZing. Our itinerary for our trip so far has been more or less: Day 1 arrived and checked out city, eating lunch at the plaza of the Teatro Amazonas. Day 2 city&river tour with highlights being trying so many different foods and drinks at the markets and having a mama-baby pair of monkeys crawl up my legs. Day 3 shopping malls (Amazonas and Manauara) and catching the free opera performance at the iconic Teatro Amazonas. Day 4 jungle tour: everything was so well planned and organized. We got to hike in the jungle in a loop hack-away-at-it-type trail. Raymond taught us so much about the plants and the animals, making sure to show us everything there was to show us. And by taking initiative in everything he does and going beyond the necessary, Raymond ensured that we got the best experience out of it all. With Raymond, we also got to eat a home-cooked meal with tambaqui, visit his home along the ribeirinho, swim with 3 boto cor-de-rosa named Porquinho, Capivara, e Capitão, fish for piranhas, take photos in the boat during golden hour and the sunset, and track down caiman aka jacaré in the darkness! We caught and got to hold/feel/see the piranha prata, piranha sardinha, and two jacaré younglings. Raymond supported us in everything and it was so peaceful and adventurous at the same time. Not only is this tour extremely well-valued, but it was also perfect speaking in both Portuguese and English with all the tour guides, so I’d recommend AmazonPrivateTours to any of my friends and family. Additionally, it was easy to correspond with Milton for all the reserving and transportation logistics! All in all, I’m glad that I saw a recommendation for AmazonPrivateTours on Reddit and would recommend it to anyone!
Tour and tour guide was great. There wasnt many animals in the rainforest tour but we did get to swim with the dolphins and caught a few piranhas. Lunch was delicious and our guide was very knowledgeable and taught us alot
A truly immersive Amazon experience no one should miss. You will be sooooooo glad that you did this.
Very good trip, and very good solution to see Amazon in one day. There are hotels right next to Manaus airport, and the guide picks you up from hotel and drives you back to hotel. The day is packed with attractions: seeing the jungle, swimming with dolphins, fishing, spotting caimans, swimming in a motorboat, seeeing sunset. Good guide, helpful, trustworthy and with English.
This was a great day out. Full of fun activities and a great lunch. We'll worth doing. Guides were great.
This is a perfect tour if you are only in Manaus for a short time and want to get the most out of a day. We had a fantastic time. Speed boat and canoe rides on the river, piranha fishing, pink river dolphins, spider and squirrel monkeys, a tarantula, and caimans. So grateful to our guide Fabio for sharing his love for the jungle with us. Many thanks to Milton for organizing the tours, promptly responding to messages and safely transporting us to and from. A highlight of our vacation.
Awesome tour!! The day is packed but the time is very enjoyable and the guides are amazing. From pickup to drop off the guides speak English well and share information on the area. It is the best tour that we have taken in Manaus!! The price is super reasonable considering all of the activities that you do. The hike was only arduous during short spurts so anyone at a moderate fitness level should book this with no concern. It was a truly special day that we will always treasure.
an unforgettable experience in Amazon. Once in a lifetime experience. Highly recommend this tour to everyone! really enjoyable and out of expectation
Overall it is good. Group is too large as only 1 guide can communicate in a language other then Portuguese, and the "assistant" is useless - i do not think he cares much for what he does at that shows. The main guide is great and knowledgeable, provides a lot of info but for the walk in the forest, group is too large as we have o walk in line and if you are not within the first 4 persons walking close to the guide you loose much of the explanations. Further with large groups chances of obrserving any fauna is greatly reduced fr the commotion in creates. Also 2 boats is not good when you want to take pictures as somehow the other boat is always in the way. The boats are tiny, which is fine when you are on the way but getting in and out carrying your day pack, and if you have a little bit of camera equipment is awkward enough as the boats are wobbly and none of the guides attempt to give you a hand. Specially upon returning to base when it is pitch dark and no light on the dock/beach. Need to review the itinerary as the last 30 or 40 minutes while the boats are going to the observation point for the sunset we are actually traveling (east bound) away from the sun set so you loose all that good "time" to observe the sun going down and when you finally arrive and turn around you merely have 10 minutes of "observation time". Also, for the price paid need a slightly larger car for the hotel pick-up and the 1.5 hr drive (each way) to the location. Very small car for 4 adults with a driver taking more then is 1/2 of the front area, the 2 in the back had no leg room (worse then the most basic of a basic economy cabin!!!). Not sure how the driver could see the road in the darkness as the lights (cruising or high beam) barely made the first 3 meters in front of the car visible........ Really did not feel-safe. Overall you see interesting things but safety is an issue and way over priced for the way this is organized. Would not book again with this out-fit
HIGHLY RECOMMEND! The most amazing experience and tour of the Amazon jungle. Our guide, Fabhino, was incredible and was local to the area so brought a wealth of knowledge. This tour has so much packed in a day. From hiking in the jungle to a delicious lunch in a floating house to fishing and finding baby crocodiles when it got dark, every step was well thought out. I've recommended this tour to all friends and family.
Definitely a must do. The guides were great and everything was just as stated. We didn’t get to see any animals during our hike but we did see lots of bugs and even ate one. The pink dolphins were amazing. I wish I could say I caught a piranha but I wasn’t that quick I just fed them🤦🏻♀️ but other people caught them and that was cool too! Even lunch was great the smell of the charcoal and fresh fish, what’s not great about that.😋
This is a fantastic tour. Our full day in the jungle was great fun and educational at the same time. Alberto our guide was excellent, very knowledgeable and friendly. One of the best tours we have ever taken.
Really great day, knowledgeable guide, very nice trail and boat ride! Take some food so you're not hungry in the evening :)
Great experience. The staff was helpful and experienced. A must do while visiting Manaus, Brazil. Recommend.
Lots of fun exploring the Amazon jungle! Lots of animals to see and the tour went at a gentle pace so it was very enjoyable! Lunch was delicious too!
This one day event was definitely worth it, the local guides spoke English and were very knowledgeable about the jungle, explaining the plants and animals we encountered during the hike, serving a very tasty buffet-style lunch with fish from the river and cold beverages from the bar. A lot of activities were packed into this one-day trip and I can highly recommend this family-owned trip organizer. They even came to your hotel to pick you up and drop you off late in the evening. Several travelers stayed the night at their lodge in the forest, doing all the activities like visiting the dark and brown water of the Rio Negro merging with the Rio Solimões, feeding and swimming with the pink dolphins, etc. Afterwards, go to have dinner at the excellent Tambaqui de Banda restaurant near the Teatro Amazonas. Since most locals don't speak English, bring your iPhone with a translation app. this is a trip to remember.
Really nice experience. Both our guides were excellent and trustworthy. You will see different animals and the sunset part is beautiful! I felt safe at all times. It is very hot so make sure you wear long pants/sleeves that are light.
Had an amazing day in the jungle! Out tour guide was both experienced and informative. The lunch was amazing and I had a great day meeting new people. 10/10 recommend!
Need to dress appropriately for the jungle and swimming. Make sure your phone has a full charge to take pictures.
The whole day was great! The tour guides were very friendly, engaging and knowledgeable. The experience felt authentic. We all loved it! Lunch at the floating house was delicious and then we had a nice break to swim in the Rio Negro on our own or sun bathe or rest. My two sons were swimming and a wild pink dolphin came up and wanted to play! It was incredible! And then at the swimming with the dolphins area we got very close to several very friendly dolphins for nice photo ops. Fishing for piranhas was so fun my sons and husband all caught some! We saw monkeys, bullet ants, tarantulas and toucans. Sunset cruise was Beautiful. Highly recommend!
Rough day for both me and my daughter. This excursion can easily be trimmed down by, at least, several hours. There was a lot of time spent sitting around after lunch, for example. On the return, we met the owner of the tour company, and he drove us back to our hotel in an air conditioned car. I would’ve paid more to take this car ride to the furthest point possible vs sitting out in the open sun for an additional hour or hour and a half. Now that I have done this tour, I can say I would never do it again. The more difficult question is whether I would do it if I knew what I know now. I wish there was a half-day excursion just to see the dolphins. That experience is the only true must see.
It was a great experience. Totally recommend it. Our tour guide was very knowledgable. Thanks for this great opportunity
The transfer to and from the hotel were excellent. The motor boat rides in the Rio Negre and its nooks and crannies offered a lush and up close view of the Amazon Jungle, although we saw little wildlife. Highlights included swimming with the pink dolphins, catching piranhas, the delicious fish lunch, seeing the tarantula, bullet ants and various hardwood trees during the hike. You'll likely get some mud on your shoes. While it wasn't too buggy, you will get bitten if you don't use bug spray.
You’ll certainly get your money’s worth, and the guides work hard. Some things to consider: The description of a maximum of 12 per tour is not accurate. There are two wooden boats, and if fully packed, each holds 12 guests. So, there are a maximum of 24 guests, and you’re together all day except for the nature hike (best to be in the front group because the wildlife is startled off before the second group arrives) and the time in the boats. Ice cold beer and sodas were available at lunch for 10 reals/$2 USD. Credit cards ok too. Water is supplied in 2 L bottles, so bring a smaller bottle of your own to refill. Lunch was plentiful with chicken and fish etc. The wooden boat seats are HARD. We awoke the next day with serious bruises and blisters. The mosquitos on the hike are EPIC. The guides don’t carry bug spray, and you must have some. A long, full day.
The entire experience was great. This company is very professional and efficient, from the information shared by Milton before the trip, to our friendly and knowledgeable driver (Samuel) to our excellent well-instructed hiking guide (Fabio). Fabio was a great guide , very informative and organized. He maintained the order while allowing for an enjoyable walk. Lunch was very good and included many local delicacies like Tambaqui (a delicious fish) and farofa (side dish made with coarse yuca flour and seasonings). A great overall experience. I highly recommend it.
We had a unique experience. The guide was really good, and our whole family enjoyed. I would strongly recommend.
This was an amazing experience to cover many highlights in just one tour. It rained the night prior so pretty wet for our jungle trek so bring a pair of shoes you don’t mind getting really dirty. Our guide was Fabio and he is a master of the river and jungle and you will be impressed with his knowledge and abilities to find sloths hidden in the forest canopy and spot and catch a cayman. My canoe of 7 can’t stop sharing how much we enjoyed this experience.
One of the highlights on our trip to Brazil! Our tour guide was awesome and gave us a chance to experience the forest as well as his home. Loved swimming with the dolphins!
Great hotel pick up service, short boat ride to floating restaurant where they gave us all a 2liter water bottle, then we left for the jungle hike for like 2.5 hours then boat ride back to floating restaurant for yummy lunch, then boat ride to pink dolphins and fishing until sunset, then our guides found a baby alligator and we got to pet it! Beautiful day. It rained halfway through our jungle hike so glad we brought a poncho and rain jackets and tennis shoes. Would do it again!
Very full and interesting day. Everything went smoothly. The car for the transfer was clean and comfortable, the boat was fine and the lunch was OK as well. Highlights were our guide Fabio who was so knowledgeable and made sure we experienced as much as possible; swimming with the pink dolphins and walking in the beautiful rainforest. Would recommend this tour.
An excellent, and very full, day on the Rio Negro. Forest hike, swimming with pink dolphins, piranha fishing and night time searching for Caiman all successfully completed.
Had a fun time with our tour guide Fabio. Took a nice hike in the jungle, long boat ride and swam with the dolphins. Lunch was excellent and even the fishing which I'm not a fan of, was fun. Great experience and worthwhile for those who can't spend days in the Amazon.
This day was packed with great activities. As a regular traveler who does these kinds of things, this was way above average for sure.
Would HIGHLY recommend. The guide was a local resident. He was informative, patient, knowledgeable, and service oriented. The tour goes, in my opinion, in depth and scope of life in the jungle life. Tour started well before sun-up and after sun-down. Remember the mosquito repellent.
This tour is awesome and couldn't get better than this ! Special shout out to our tour guide Fabinho! a great guide who knows the jungle inside out. He really took care of us and making sure we were comfortable at every step. The lunch at the boathouse was awesome and is made fresh in camping style. Plenty of water provided...you'll need plenty too :). Milton our tour operator was excellent and very knowledgeable, he picked and dropped us off from hotel. We were looking to buy some water bottle on our way back ..Milton was kind enough and provided us with extra water bottles. Overall a memorable experience with a great tour operator.
Quality outfit. Excellent day. The evening ride back on the river under the stars will not be soon forgotten
We had a great time with guide Fabinho. He was very kind, knowledgeable and went above and beyond to ensure a great experience. The communication prior to the tour was great and Milton was happy to answer any questions. Being in a small group like this tour was really nice and I would really recommend this over some of the mass tourism options out there. Everything we did was as described in the itinerary but a highlight was definitely the sunset and seeing the caimans in the dark on the way back. Would definitely recommend this tour!
This is the day trip you should take! Greatest experience in the Amazon! No regret and wish I could do it again. If you have limited time to explore Manaus, here you go, the best day trip for you! The guide Fabinho is very knowledgeable, humble and friendly. Milton replies messages swiftly and has been very helpful. I think my stay in Manaus is noe complete with the Amazon jungle experience. Love every bit of the exploration!
It was a great experience. Everything went very well: we were picked up on time from the Juma Opera Hotel and taken to the meeting point. what a great hike! we saw snakes, dolphins, tarantulas, caimans! great competent leadership! Hopefully again
We had such an amazing time and the tour exceeded our expectations! Everything is very authentic and definitely not mass tourism. We really enjoyed it, thank you Fabinho!
