Mirihi Island Resort

We have just returned from an absolutely wonderful holiday at Mirihi, and it is difficult to put into words how special this experience was for our family. Of course, Mirihi itself is beautiful. But what truly sets this resort apart is the team. Every single person we met was genuinely friendly, attentive and committed to making our stay perfect. We would honestly have to mention every employee by name, because everyone contributed in some way. Unfortunately, that would probably make this review far too long. However, there are a few people we would particularly like to thank. First and foremost, Laafhan from Guest Relations deserves a very special mention. We have never met anyone who takes care of guests with such dedication. He was always available, kept us informed and made sure that everything was taken care of. This became especially clear during our difficult departure, when the seaplanes were unable to operate as planned because of the weather. The situation was completely beyond the resort’s control, but Laafhan continued to support us, kept us updated and did everything possible to help. His professionalism, patience and genuine concern were exceptional. A huge thank you also goes to Athif, Latheef, Shaffan and Hussain from the restaurant. They were always incredibly friendly, attentive and willing to go far beyond what would normally be expected. They made every visit to the restaurant feel personal and welcoming. And then there was the food: simply outstanding. Wije, Felix and the entire kitchen team did an amazing job. The quality and variety were excellent every single day. During our entire stay, there was genuinely not one day on which anything felt missing or disappointing. The food was consistently fantastic. Diving was another major reason why this holiday was so special for us. A particularly warm thank you goes to Shuhurab and Samer from the dive centre. To be completely honest, Shuhurab was one of the main reasons we changed our original plans and booked Mirihi after he moved to the dive centre there. 😂 My son Max and I completed our Advanced Open Water Diver course with him, and it was an absolutely first-class experience. Shuhurab is not only an excellent instructor, but also someone who creates confidence, enthusiasm and unforgettable memories underwater. Samer was equally welcoming and professional, and the entire dive centre made us feel completely comfortable. We also want to thank Kirsten, the marine biologist, who made our stay much more than just a beach and diving holiday. She invited Max and me to participate in coral measurements and coral maintenance, giving us a fascinating insight into the important conservation work being carried out around the island. Her different presentations every Monday evening were informative, engaging and clearly showed how passionate she is about the marine environment. Finally, we must mention our wonderful housekeeping attendant, even though we unfortunately do not know his name. Throughout the holiday, we somehow became involved in an ongoing battle of increasingly creative towel figures. 😂 Every new creation made us laugh and immediately made us think about how we could respond. These small, personal moments are exactly what turn a very good holiday into an unforgettable one. We hope the resort will identify him and pass on our thanks. Even though our departure became complicated because of the weather, this did not change our opinion of Mirihi in the slightest. On the contrary, difficult situations often show the true quality of a hotel and its team. The way everyone remained calm, supportive and professional only confirmed how exceptional this resort is. Mirihi is a beautiful island, but its greatest strength is the people who work there. We arrived as guests and left with countless wonderful memories and the feeling that we were saying goodbye to friends. Thank you to the entire Mirihi team for an unforgettable holiday. We sincerely hope that this was not our last visit.

Our stay at V Villas was very relaxing and enjoyable. The food and the staff (especially our butler Lahei) has been outstanding. We really enjoyed the tranquility and relaxing vibes the resort offered with top-notched food and cocktails. For those who love to snorkel, there’s a wonderful house reef (we sighted sea turtles, reef and nurse sharks and bull ray as well as all manners of reef fish).

We have just completed a 10 night stay on this fabulous ‘little gem’ of an island which did not disappoint! We were met at the airport by two Mirihi representatives & were quickly on the sea plane transfer which was a great start! We were met on the island by Carmen & her wonderful team who looked after us throughout our stay. We enjoyed the most amazing cuisine in the Dhonveli Restaurant where Felix, Shafreez & their team work so hard to produce the most amazing food, it equals Michelin Star with fabulous fish, oysters, steak, pasta & curries! A abundance of fabulous salads & the home made pizza is as good as you get it Italy! We spent the early evenings at Muraka Restaurant with fabulous cocktails & hors d’ourves watching the sun set! My husband dived for 7 days & he was impressed with the dive team especially Sameer & Dude. He saw soft corals as good as in Indonesia 20 years ago plus lots of shark action! A good selection of different dive sites on each day. I enjoyed yoga on each early morning in a fabulous location & it was definitely worth getting up for… a great start to the day! I was lucky enough to experience snorkelling on the Manta & Whale Shark excursions both times seeing 3 Whale Sharks & Mantas, a special thank you to Sameeh for his amazing guidance & help seeing these awesome creatures plus boat crew were super helpful too! We had a fabulous Sunset Cruise with dolphins all the way back! Good food & wine served on this gorgeous Ketch. The snorkelling on the house reef was spectacular with eagle rays, black tip sharks, turtles & fabulous nurse sharks plus much more! Snorkelling from our beach villa was a real treat! The beach villa had a great view into the ocean & it was very comfortable & well equipped with everything we needed! It was cleaned to a high standard on each day. The pool was a great addition & we enjoyed the afternoons around it drinking superb mocktails/cocktails. Krishina & his team were great looking after us! A special thank you to Viaam who was attentive & helpful throughout our stay plus great company on the excursions! The island was immaculate, the gardens kept beautifully as were the sands. Thank you Mirihi for the best Maldives holiday to date & look forward to our return in March 2027!

We feel so fortunate and happy that we have been able to make it to Mirihi again. We arrived as part of the very first guests on their first ‘soft' reopening day. Mirihi has been undergoing renovations and is now being marketed under Accor's M Gallery Collection. Their reopening has been delayed a few times which also meant that we ended up staying for 3 nights at another small 5 star island resort with a wonderful house reef with a high focus on fine dining but we were missing the spirit and heart of Mirihi. We must admit we had been a bit apprehensive if Mirihi would remain the same after the renovation and the rebranding but from the moment we were transferred back to Mirihi, it felt like coming home. The genuine kindness of staff, the personal care was just as we had remembered it from our last visit 3 years ago. 95% of their staff have remained, which is also a reflection of how the staff team feel about working there. We understand from conversations with Mirihi’s GM Mohamed Shareef that he and 16 of his team have been working there for over 23 years for the entire time of the existence of Mirihi! He and his team repeatedly emphasised how important it was for them to retain the unique spirit and heart of Mirihi which reportedly is also in line with the values of the owner and supported by Accor. I think and know from talking with other guests that it is this unique heartfelt spirit of genuine kindness and service that makes this beautiful peaceful and quiet paradise island of the Maldives so unique. The villa renovations have been done in a very tasteful way. There is now a beautiful pool in front of the bar area, which is very refreshing and non-imposing, a new small but well equipped gym, the table tennis is still there and so are the great excursions they offer. And of course still no TVs! :-) The service is extremely personalised and accommodating, now even with a dedicated ‘butler’ allocated to each guest. The renovations have not entirely been completed yet and the new double villas with pools are still under construction. We were not at all bothered by any construction noise while there although we could not snorkel in that area. It did not make any difference to our experience and Mirihi even provided all excursions for free for all guests as compensation. They expect to fully open by end of March for new reservations but continue to operate for bookings that have been made earlier. Until the full re-opening the outer circle of water villas is cordoned off and not occupied by guests. We are so incredibly happy to be here again and are enjoying every day. We will definitely be coming back again. Mirihi truly is unique and we are pleased to report to everyone who has been there before, that Mirihi remains as special - even improved upon - as it has always been and seens to also attract the same like minded guests! :-)
