Paint Your Own Picasso

It was amazing!!! We would strongly recommend it to other people as a way to experience something different in a city that is known for art by Picasso

Javi Lopez was an excellent instructor. I first watched a video about Picasso‘s life and background and it was educative. Then Javi walked me through the process of collage and cubism, and the production of a pice of art simply fell into place. I painted my face with different angles like Picasso and it was very interesting. It took me out on my comfort zone and into an art form like no other. The workspace/studio is really nice. The surrounding areas are filled with artwork on the walls of the building that I considered beautiful “graffiti“. I would highly recommend this course. It is a good idea to bring a mask in case you or anyone else is sick.That area of town feels artistic and inspirational.

We visited this class as three friends with absolutely no artistic experience, so we were slightly nervous. However, Javier was the perfect host. He made the whole experience really relaxed and fun, and all three of us were happy with our work. He broke down the process of painting into three easy steps so the task didn’t feel overwhelming. We also came away with an even better understanding of Picasso’s life and work. Would highly recommend. A proper hidden gem!

It was well structured and educational. A step by step approach. We learned and we had fun. An inspiring and patient teacher.

Great experience, Thomas, the guide, was friendly and informative. He gave us clear instuctions and stepped through the process to create a Picasso-esque self- portrait. We have no art background or talent and thoroughly enjoyed it. The class was a mixed group of 10, with different ages and abilities, but everyone seemed to have a great time. Definitely recommend.

This is one of the best experiences I have had visiting Costa del Sol. In fact, I enjoyed my first class so much, I came back the very next day.

I can’t tell you how wonderful and fun and mind bending this is for someone like me who has no artistic talent and no hands on practical skills whatsoever. I love Pablo but never thought I would be here. The young guy tutoring us was terrific. We enjoyed the 15 minute video at the beginning. And the steps to create our own masterpiece were so cleverly conceived and executed brilliantly. One of the highlights of my life. Sounds too strong I know. But I’m useless at this sort of thing or at least I thought. Thanks so much

I am not an artist and knew little of Picasso. The instructor provided information and cubism and techniques that made creating my own art much easier.

The man who ran this class was so welcoming, kind and extremely informative about picasso. He made me and my partner feel very confident about the art we created by giving us a tutorial and powerpoint all about picasso’s styles beforehand. He also asked us about our trip and gave us recommendations about what to do in Malaga. I wouldn’t recommend this more if you want a taste of how picasso’s created his art and to create your own picasso inspired portrait.

We had a great time, learnt a lot about Picasso and loved our finished pieces. We would highly recommend doing this for any age and any ability of painting

Oh WOW!! what an amazingly different experience. I saw this on a TV show with an English comedian who took a friend & thought my husband would love it. It was much more than I thought it would be. Sylvia is a friendly & very informative person on the life of Picasso. Her presentation on his life was so interesting and to then have her lead us through our own Cubist artwork was so much fun. Our 2 hours just flew by. I would recommend this to everyone who comes to Malaga as something different to do.

A really fun thing to do while in Malaga, great host and worth the price, it will certainly bring out your inner Picasso

We had a session for two people in English. We had a great time learning about Picasso's life, influences and techniques he developed over time. It was educational and entertaining. The practical side of the workshop was very nicely guided by the instructor, we had a lot of freedom to play and make art without judgement. Very happy with the experience and the result.

Lovely studio and great teacher! I am a novice artist, and I really enjoyed getting to know Picasso and the elements of cubism. It really helped that I had spent a few hours listening to podcasts on Picasso's life, and also visited the Picasso museum, so I was semi informed and super inspired already!

What a fun experience! We took the class right after visiting the Picasso museum in Malaga., where we were inspired by his techniques. The slide presentation was a great start. Thomas was patient with us and encourage to paint how we felt!

I really loved the session with Javi ! I never thought I'd be able to make a cubism painting in my life, I totally felt like one of Picasso's disciples.

Great class, learned about Picasso's painting styles and how his women influenced the styles. We then created a collage and then painted a self portrait of ourselves on the collage creating a Picasso style painting... Very cool

It was a great experience with Javi as an excellent instructor. It was nice of them to allow me this class although it was only me!

Phew, you don’t need to be a talented artist to enjoy this. You don’t even have to be an artist. Myself and my 7 year old daughter (the artist in the family) had a great experience with Javier. It was informative and great fun. Class was very relaxed and it was great to share it with people from Czech Republic, Canada & the US. Definitely worth doing.

You learn about his life an his history. Then you learn how to paint in his style. My experience was very good! Thomas was a very nice guy with humor.

It was a beautiful experience. The artist really walked us through the process in a way that at the end I felt like a real painter and I ended up with a nice self portrait Picasso Style, obviously not a painter lol but it's really cute. My daughter also enjoyed it a lot. I highly recommend this. The teacher speaks Spanish, English and a little bit of French, in case it's helpful.

It was a workshop in a few steps, learning about Picasso and his kind of painting. Then trying different things and at the end you made your own picture and it was a surprise how it was created. The teacher was nice and helpful.

As a retired Scot with no experience of art whatsoever I was captivated by the experience of learning more about Picasso and actually creating my own Picasso style painting. Thoroughly recommended for everyone!!

Had a great time learning a bit of history related to Picasso! Our instructor/host Silvia was amazing and the workshop was appropriate for everyone - will definitely recommend in the future.

What a wonderful way to learn about Picasso’s work, see where he was born and paint your own cubism inspired art. Silvia was lovely and made it so much fun. Plan ahead for parking or plug in directions for a garage because street parking near the studio was hard to find. It’s also a short walk to the port where there are lots of restaurants and cafes. We highly recommend a workshop with Silvia.

Fantastic Picasso class and workshop by a wonderful artist (and art teacher!) in her well-equipped and light-filled studio. My teen, tween and I all loved learning about the principles + philosophy of Picasso and putting them into action creating our own self-portraits. We explored a variety of activities during our few weeks in Spain and this was one of our favorites by far!

We enjoyed the instructor and how she introduced Picasso and his life beforehand. This was interesting and helpful for the class to have a better understanding of the art we were creating. We would definitely recommend this if you’re in Málaga!!

I took my mother and teenage niece, and we all had a fantastic time! Silvia is a fantastic teacher: none of us are remotely artistic, but she guided us through step by step, and we ended up making something we actually wanted to keep - which is rare for us! We learned a lot, but the atmosphere is super fun and relaxed, so it wasn't like being at school or a lecture or anything. Highly, highly recommend!

I loved watching the video of Picasso’s life because I didn’t get a chance to go to the museum. The instructor was so gracious and a great art teacher. Her studio is super cute and quaint. This is an experience I won’t forget and a great way to remember my time in Malaga. Thank you!!

Arrived via cruise ship, and we headed here after visiting the Picasso Museum. The brief presentation really gave a strong understanding, and the multi-step art project was fantastic—learned art techniques and more about Picasso’s art. Traveled with a 7 and 11 year old (one loves art, the other not so much) and they both loved the activity, and Malaga in general.

We attended the studio. Silvia was an excellent host. Really enjoyable experience and should really be done before you visit Picasso museum as you will learn so much from Silvia. My husband had not painted before and he really enjoyed it. Its great to have your own Picasso to take home.

I went here last monday and it was amazing! Silvia was very lovely and she was clearly interested in Picasso and cubism so she knew what she was talking about. The atmosphere was incredible: the colourful studio, the lively streets of Málaga and instrumental music! Would recommend!!!!

Lovely teacher, very helpful, encouraging & knowledgeable - & patient (particularly as I wanted to speak Spanish in the class & I'm not very fluent! The class was comprised of 8 students and everyone was friendly. I have been inspired to do more art in future.

My family really enjoyed the workshop. Discovering the inner Picasso was fun. The art teacher Tom was very knowledgeable and made everything easy and fun to do. Kids loved it.

A very pleasant experience with a warm, welcoming and knowledgeable host :) You learn a lot about Picasso and his style in a fun and interactive way and even get to keep your own piece of art which will look better than you may expect. It makes sense to do this workshop before visiting the picasso museum so you have a better understanding of the art and the principles beneath it.

Everything was great! The only thing we missed was that "refreshments were included", but we had expected more than a cup of tea.
