We had a very enjoyable day with Carlos and would happily recommend this experience. It was both relaxing and informative, and we really enjoyed learning how to make paella while also trying other delicious local dishes. Carlos has a warm, genuine, and easygoing personality that makes everyone feel welcome and included. He shared his knowledge in a natural and engaging way, creating a friendly atmosphere throughout the day. The food was excellent, and the experience gave us both new skills and great memories. If you're looking for an authentic and personal way to experience Spanish food and culture, this is a great choice. Thank you, Carlos, for a wonderful day and a memorable experience! 🥘🇪🇸😊
Carlos was very knowledgeable and entertaining. He was very thorough in his instructions and the food was all great! Highly recommend!
Carlos was a great instructor and story teller. His teaching methods included everyone in the class leaving no one behind with everyone feeling like they were all getting the job done. Sitting down to a family style dinner with world traveling guests allowed for sharing of experiences and adventures with Carlos adding local venues and establishments to visit.
Excellent hands on cooking class. Carman was the chef and was pleasant and very knowledgeable. Kept the class moving forward and provided excellent cooking tips.
A fun experience with Javier as our guide through the market and Carlos as our chef/instructor. The food was excellent. Together we made sangria, gazpacho, and paella. But we were also treated to an olive oil tasting. We ended with freshly made churros. A perfect. way to spend your time in Malaga. Highly recommend!
Javi gave us a great tour of a fabulous market before cooking. We loved it so much, we went back to the market after the class. Alba is a pro - she helped us paella that was best we had in Spain, and we also made sangria and gazpacho, and enjoyed churros as well. We especially enjoyed meeting and sharing the experience with people from all over the world.
We wanted to learn to make paella since we had eaten it in Spain and wanted to try to make it at home. The Kulinarea kitchen was within walking distance of our downtown hotel. We met there, not at the Atarazanas Market, which is what is listed in the Tripadvisor "What to Expect " section. We still got to tour the market, but did not have to buy any ingredients since they were already provided by the class. After that we learned how to taste olive oil, and were given the opportunity to purchase some. There, we learned how to make gazpacho, sangria, and finally the paella. We cut our own vegetables and did the cooking from start to finish. Most of the participants made seafood paella, but there was an option to make vegetable paella for vegetarians and in case of allergies. With the expert instruction by Carmen, ours turned out perfectly. We all sat together and had our paella with the gazpacho and sangria, followed by churros for dessert. They also had some ready-made salmorreta so that making it at home would be easier. Now that we are back home, we are excited to try making it ourselves. It was a fun experience and a delicious meal, all in one!
A lot of fun great instructors wonderful tour of the market all in all a great experience. Perfect class size
“We absolutely loved this workshop! A perfect mix of visiting the market, learning about Spanish ingredients, making authentic sangria and gazpacho, and cooking a delicious paella together. Javi and Alba were both fantastic — friendly, passionate and fun. Everything was well organized and felt very authentic. One of the highlights of our stay in Málaga. Highly recommended!”
Such a fantastic class. I booked this class for my mom, sister, and I. The instructor was so informative, fun, and helpful. It was perfectly setup and the food was incredible.
Fun experience. Carmen and her partner were awesome. The food was excellent and we loved that the class size was small enough to get the individual attention needed to really experience the class. Loved it!
Friendly and informative tour of the market including a couple of extra hints and tips for bars/cafes on way to the kitchen. Followed by a fun and informative cooking session with plenty of space to learn and enjoy the experience.
Great guide, great chef making sure our paella was cooked correctly, and a lovely quick tour of the market which will come in handy when wanting to return. The sangria was overly and the company was great too. Would recommend to anyone visiting Malaga!
Wat een supertoffe cooking class ! Absolute aanrader !
It was very lovely to join this group. Some surprises that I really loved. Also a lot of interesting information and the space was perfect. I had a lot fun and learned a lot
Carmen was a fabulous guide. She took us through the market stopping at a favourite kiosk allowing us to taste a variety of olives, nuts, sun dried tomatoes and figs. In the kitchen, chef Alba, walked us through making roasted pepper salad, sangria, paella and churros. Her instructions were clear and detailed. Our food was outstanding.
A fantastic experience. Elise gave us a great insight into the history of the market and the Malaga people. She knew a lot about local produce and explained in an interesting and engaging way. Our Chef Alba was amazing- her knowledge of food, flavour and hospitality was second to none. The chat great and we met like minded people from around the world with an interest in culture and food. Would highly recommend this.
5 stars? I’d give it 6.0 if I could, all thanks to the standout team that made our experience unforgettable. Highlights Javi – our guide: extraordinary warmth and expertise. From the moment we booked, he reached out a day ahead to confirm parking and meeting details, which immediately put us at ease. If you’re driving yourself, there is a parking garage about a 5 minute walk to the class itself. And if taking the bus, the stop is about the same distance as well. Javi’s friendly demeanor and deep knowledge created a welcoming atmosphere that made us feel right at home. Alba – overseeing Chef: a masterclass in culinary storytelling. Alba walked us through the ingredients with great clarity, explaining not just what each component did, but why it mattered in the dish. Her explanations were detailed and engaging, and she remained incredibly friendly and supportive throughout. Her passion for the cuisine shone through in every step of the class. Overall impression Having traveled to many places around the world, I can honestly say this ranks among the very best local tours and cooking experiences I’ve ever had. The combination of Javi’s hospitality and Alba’s culinary guidance created a perfect, memorable experience from start to finish. The paella is unbelievable as well as the churros for dessert!! Thank you again, Javi and Alba for an outstanding day. We’ll be recommending this to everyone we know.
Elise and Alba were both excellent hosts! Elise shared a lot of Malaga history the tour of the market was fantastic. Alba did a great job helping us cook paella and churros. The tinto was delicious. Gracias
Carmen was a fantastic guide. She made all feel welcome & expertly guided us through the market. She was always smiling and laughing and was the perfect partner for our chef Alba. Both really did an excellent job of teaching us about Paella & Sangria while at the same time creating a community between all 16 participants. Highly recommend!
Carmen, our guide was excellent. She was fun and very informative. The cooking class was very organized and resulted in delicious food, from the appetizer to the paella to the churros. I would highly recommend Carmen and this cooking class
This was a great experience. Carmen was a great guide, loved her enthusiastic passion about Malaga and food. Enjoyed the visit at central Market. The class was wonderful, nice venue and learned a lot of tricks. Absolutely recommended.
This was awesome! The tour of the market was leaf by the energetic and knowledgeable, Carmen. Pepo was a patience and hands on chef! Ultimately, the company and the food was unmatched.
Around sixteen people took the class. Everyone was very friendly. We walked to the food market nearby with Carmen and were taught how to make sangria and cook paella with Alba. We also enjoyed tasting various olive oils and were treated to fresh churros made by Alba at the end of the class.
A wonderful addition to travel! Learning about local food opens doors to learning so much more. The olive oil tasting showed me which types to use for different applications. The cooking itself was hands on, with fresh seafood and vegetables. The facility is well appointed and sparkling clean - all is provided. I was impressed at the instructor's depth of knowledge. Alba created a collaborative environment so that by the time we were finished, we traded contact information so to share results of our paella made at home. Add this to your itinerary - a terrific evening's entertainment!
We did a paella cooking class in Málaga this morning, hosted by guide Javi and chef Pepe, and it exceeded all expectations. The class started with a visit to the local market, where Javi, a true foodie, shared great insights about Spanish cuisine and local ingredients. We got to taste some amazing regional products and olive oils (Spanish olive farmers often supply the “Italian” olive products in northern Europe supermarkets) Back at the modern, beautifully equipped kitchen, chef Pepe led the cooking session flawlessly; calm, skilled, and fun, keeping everyone engaged while we cooked paella, made sangria and even prepared churros. The food turned out fantastic, the atmosphere was good and relaxed, and the experience felt both authentic and professional. Highly recommended. 100% worth it. Big thanks to Javi and Pepe for a real good experience!
Our cooking experience was fantastic! Not only we made our own paella, but we also got a short tour to a local market and we tasted different local delicasies. Our guide Javi and our chef Pepe were amazing hosts, very welcoming, knowledgeable and they gave us plenty amazing tips and recommendations! Muchas gracias Javi i Pepe!
Amazing amazing amazing !! I would highly recommend this cooking course. Carmen was a great guide and chef was very knowledgeable and shared great tips too
After waiting nearly 20 minutes at the meeting point and finally getting a response to our multiple inquiries via the Viator app, we were informed that we were at an old meeting point. We had checked the Viator app multiple times before leaving our accommodations and there was nothing about a change in the meeting location. Once we heard back from Jose he was helpful in getting us to the correct location to join the group. But we missed the first 40 minutes of the tour. Jose told us this has happened multiple times before and it wasn’t our fault. Very disappointing that Viator and/or the vendor aren’t doing a good job of keeping their customers informed of the correct meeting location.
The best paella I’ve ever tried. The class was very hands on, the flavors were amazing. It was definitely a great experience. The additional recipes for gazpacho, churros and sangria were a bonus. I will definitely recommend it and will love to take more classes the next time I’m in Malaga
Visiting the market and then making (and eating!) our paella was an awesome experience! Alba was a fantastic teacher and Jose was a great guide in the market. They made the experience even more special.
An excellent experience with a helpful and knowledgable guide and an excellent chef. The group enjoyed each others company particularly when the knives went away One disappointment, we were promised the recipe for the dishes we made but these never arrived despite making a further request
Fantastic experience, great guys! Lovely food and drinks, better than I expected I would definitely highly recommended! X
Our guide was Jav. He was extremely friendly and a better guide than i could ever have imagined. Our cook was Pepo. He was also great and obviously a good chef. The food was also great, and there was a really good balance between fun and cooking - which resulted in a delicious meal!!
Our experience was excellent, it was well organized and informative at the market. Once we started preparing our food, the chef kept us all busy and engaged. We enjoyed meeting and making new friends from other places around the world and sharing stories and experiences.
Jose was very fun. Chef was very informative and we suggest buying the olive oil and the Paella mix from them. Its a time saver. Our classmates were very friendly and it gives you a chance to meet people from other regions.
This experience was outstanding. Jose was a great host and full of enthusiasm. Best Paella I have ever tasted but of course I would say that as it was cooked by me but all credit goes to the amazing chef who used first class ingredients to help me make it.
Walking through the incredible market was so interesting, and our guide, Anais, stopped ofteni to answer questions and offer explanations. From there, she led us on the short (about 10 minute) walk to the cooking class, which was fantastic. Anais was knowledgeable, articulate, and friendly. She shared so much information about the area and the food, even before the class. Our chef (sorry, I’ve forgotten her name) was also terrific and gave us a wonderful cooking experience. We did some prep and then Anais led us in an olive oil tasting. She also supported us in all aspects of the class. We worked in pairs as Chef gave clear directions and came around to assist. She made it fun and easy, and then we sat down to eat our individual paellas, along with homemade sangria. There was a non-alcohol option as well. We were even treated to a special surprise dessert. We enjoyed interacting with others while cooking and eating. Chef and Anais created a warm and friendly atmosphere; we found the entire experience to be delightful and would definitely do it again. Thanks so much to Anais and our chef!
So fun! The guide taught us all about food in Spain! She also gave recommendation on new foods to try!
This class was so much fun! Javi was a wonderful guide who knew so much about food culture, and it was really interesting going through the market to learn about local cuisine. Alba was also a wonderful instructor in the kitchen—very patient and helpful throughout the cooking process! The whole experience was hands-on, engaging, and delicious. Highly recommend to anyone wanting to connect with local flavors and traditions in an authentic, memorable way!
Our class was the tapas cooking class. Our guide, Anais, was very knowledgeable and extremely helpful. Her tour of the market was filled with information we could not has discerned on our own. The class was really fun and well run. We made tapas with people from all over the world, such a fun time. The chef was patient and highly skilled as well. Would rate higher than 5 stars if we only could! Definitely recommend!
It was a great cooking class. A lot of fun. Learned a lot. Our chef was vey nice and approachable. We appreciated her explanations regarding the art of cooking paella. Also, appreciated our guide AnaÏs who showed us a little of Malaga Centro and its iconic places. The short but fun market tour was also great. Overall, a great experience. Thank you,
We took the paella cooking class and we had a great time. Our guide, Javier, introduced us to the food culture in Málaga and toured the Atarazanas market. Following this quick tour, we headed to the kitchen where we were introduced to the chef who demonstrated and guided us through making paella and churros. The hands-on class was a great way to fully appreciate the steps to make paella, something we wouldn’t have dared trying before. We highly recommend this workshop!
Fantastic experience - fun market visit with Anais follwed by a wonderful paella cooking class in a beautifully appointed kitchen in Soho. The chef was lovely! Also included an olive oil tasting, sangria making and churros. Great value for money and a lovely morning all round.
Fantastic day. Anais our guide was lovely and so informative about the food and the market. It was great fun cooking the Paella and we met some interesting and fun people. We highly recommend, you will not regret it.
Anais was an amazing tour guide! She provided a lot of history of the town and pointed out some of her favorite places to eat/drink as a local. The market was a chefs and food lovers dream! Anais pointed out very specific vendors to purchase from and how to get a good bargain (Saturdays before they close). The cooking class was run very well and smoothly the chef was very attentive and helpful. Once the paella was cooking, we were provided with unlimited beer and wine. All the other guests were very friendly and once we all sat down and ate it was like a family dinner. Lots of laughter! So much fun and I would definitely go again for a different class!
Amazing experience with lovely people and the perfect way to spend a rainy day the only issue was we never received the recipes for the food we made and were promised. We would very much have liked to follow up at home
What an incredible experience! I got this activity as a bday present for my partner and we absolutely loved it. It was great to see the market and to cook all together. Anais (tour guide) and Alba (chef) were amazing and made us all feel very welcomed. 100% recommend, the paella was next level good!
Thoroughly enjoyed the cooking class. The guide and chef were so welcoming and knowledgeable. The little added extras of a starter, dessert and drinks provided was a lovely surprise. Would recommend this course.
