If you are not good with heights it may not be one for you but you feel very safe and it all adds to the drama of the trip. Having the guided tour (we had Daphne) gives the tour added interest and would thoroughly recommend.
JJ was a wonderful guide and the trip is also well worth it, I initially thought I would do it alone but probably I would of gotten lost at the start, the place itself is majestic
It’s beautiful! The walk is not hard and there were little rest stops where our guide would tell us about the specific area we were in. JJ was amazing!! He was friendly and energetic, full of tons of great information. You could tell he really loves what he does.
Easy walk. Informative guide. Very worthwhile. Not activity for hot day. Book in advance. Amazing photos!
Absolutely incredible experience. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable, friendly and efficient. The location itself was breathtaking. Safety was a clear priority.
Exceptional tour. Anna was an incredible guide. she was so welcoming and friendly and she was very informed about the history of the area. 10/10 would recommend.
Pickup a little chaotic. Tickets stated leaving time of 7:55am with check in starting 15 mins earlier. The guide turned up at 8:10am, got us all on the coach then at the second pickup announced that the coach was over booked and 11 people needed to get off and move to a different coach. Other than that everything else was great. It was well organised and we had a friendly, knowledgeable guide, Fernando.
The tour was in English and included a pick up and drop off from a bus stop c1km outside city center. There were two guides, ours was Anna. You can tell she loves what she does - she was brilliant and enthusiastic about the whole experience. The walk itself is beautiful and we appreciated the guide’s knowledge about history and construction as we walked. It wasn’t boring as you might expect. We saw animals - vultures, mountain goats (including little kids) and a fox. The boardwalk and the bridges are scenic and worth it alone. The walk including start to end point came in at 6.5km for us. It’s not challenging and pretty flat. If you can walk that distance over a few hours you’re sorted. Go and book this. It’s great value and a stunning place outside of the city center.
Excellent trip, well worth the hour drive to get into Malaga. From stepping off the bus to returning to the bus we clocked five miles.
Wasn't sure if my booking was successful as it was last minute but had no need to worry. Turned up at the meeting point to find a huge group of people waiting and my name on the list. We were whisked off in a coach - all very well organised. I won't give away any spoilers but suffice to say, this was an amazing thing to do and I'm so pleased I went. My knees and hips did ache badly for a day or so - mostly from the steep steps and hill walkdown at the end so, if you're not very fit or have really really bad knees, I wouldn't recommend it. It's a lot of walking, many steps and lots of uneven ground. It is incredibly high but if you don't suffer from vertigo to any great extent, then you will feel totally fine. Good walking shoes, water and the ability to keep up with your group leader so the vultures don't get you!! ;-)
Very scenic hike with a fantastic guide! Christian (aka Chris) was funny while being very professional. Words of advice- check the weather for the area first. Pay attention to the wind rate. It was much colder than expected, especially because of the wind. Most of us were caught off guard and were very cold.
It was amazing. I did feel a little trepidation as a 75 year old but loved it! So don’t hold back if you feel you would like to give it a go? Go for it!
Alora and El Caminito del Rey, a full day tour by autobus, from Malaga and back. Very nice places, especially the Caminito was fantastic. The organisation of the day was excellent, the tapas at noon was tasty. J.J. and Mercedes led the groups, both were very professionals, gave us important and interesting information about the history, the environment, everything. We got small surprizes at the end of the road. Great job, good moode, we enjoyed beeing there.
Day trip to Caminito Del Rey through Get Your Guide app with this company. Easy pickup, lovely staff, great day, fab views, nice trip back. Can’t fault it. £100 for the day- well worth it.
Did the Caminito Del Rey tour from Malaga with Ramon as guide in January...everything went well they took all the hassle out of it could enjoy the walk and Ramon was excellent as a guide
Had a fantastic day trip from Malaga to Antequera, Dolmens then onto the Caminito del Rey. Simple to organise with clear instructions where to meet etc. Dafne our guide was full of interesting information and stories throughout the day. Had planned to do this trip independently but as it was very competitively priced we opted for it - excellent value for money.
I booked the Caminito del Rey tour several months before my trip to Malaga for November 3, 2024. I discovered a few days before departure that the route was temporarily closed due to bad weather so I sent a message via Get Your Guide's wattsapp support number , to which they told me not to worry because the tour was confirmed. So we show up at the scheduled time at the meeting point for departure but there we begin to discover that my name does not appear in the list of the first bus and that we have to wait for the second. We wait another 15 minutes and another Spanish guide writes down my name and lets us get on the bus but after 5 minutes he gets on to tell us in an austere tone that we have to get off because he has no waivers and therefore we are redundant. We start to get agitated, I show the reservation, the payment, the confirmation but nothing to do, he doesn't even make an effort to try to find a solution, my friend and I, crying, beg him, explaining that our entire trip was based on that I walk...he doesn't do anything, annoyed, he abandons us on the ground outside the bus. He was an Aloratur guide. I contact get your guide again and they apologize saying they didn't know anything, then they send me an email with the cancellation and the request for a refund of the trip... they get away with it like this do you realize? I won't tell you the mood that accompanied us during that day, we were scammed, who knows who my reservation with the 2 tickets went to. They ruined our holiday, I found only incompetence (from get your guide who did not correctly verify my booking days before despite my unnecessary request) and rudeness (from Aloratur) in making us shrug our shoulders and abandon us on the ground without hope . Never again.
Very good organization on this trip, both the pickup at the agreed point, and the transport to the Caminito, with a good guide like Carlos, the welcome pack and the Caminito guide, Javier, who made the tour very pleasant by telling the history of the construction of the Caminito. The tour along the walkways, fantastic, a wonderful landscape.
Breathtakingly beautiful and what a mega cool feeling to have done this. Cool to have gone out with guides J&J and Rachel. Rachel was our guide on site and as she herself stated: Caminito del Ray (chel). What a passion in sharing and hearing the stories that go with it. There were also monk vultures present :) Thanks, really great, beautiful.
Best is if you walk alone or in smaller groups, I did that a few years ago, it was amazing!. Now my friend and I went in a larger group, the leader went way too fast, we didn’t have time to stop or shoot properly, could not experience all the beauty without being pushed or disturbed by other groups. We did not even stop to read the signs with descriptions or information about different parts of the path. The leader was in a hurry and everything felt like a transport route when it was over. Another leader during the bus trip fumbled a lot in English. The experience did not meet our expectations.
Beautiful walk. Really worth it. Beautiful nature, good information about surroundings, flora and fauna that our guide, Claudia
I made an organized excursion to Caminito del Rey with this company, choosing the time slot of 1.45 pm, with pickup service from Malaga train station. The organization was perfect on Fernando’s part, making sure to leave no one behind when passing list. Javi was our guide during the tour, and explained the origin of Caminito and other curiosities. At the end you reach a picnic area where you can rest for a moment, having a refreshment or some snack, before embarking on the return to Malaga. I'm not talking about the journey because I value the company here, and I can't say anything negative.
Went there yesterday September 28th with some fears at Check-out because we had read before the comments on google that talked about hot weather, too dizzying place and a very long walk of more than 7km then we had to bring a lunch because there was nothing there. We decided to overcome our fears and took the chance to go with Aloratur. Frankly, it went great! The guides are super friendly and are present with us all the way, the place is guarded and very safe. The parts to do on the mountainside are solid and wide walkways: it does not move so it is not major for someone who is dizzy except maybe the last segment at the very end on the suspension bridge where it moves and it sells a lot! Otherwise it goes well and there are also portions in forest. There is food and drink on site at the Arrival and Check-out + the Guide gives us 500ml of water: we brought 2 more bottles, nuts, chorizo sticks and it was enough. At about 2pm we were already at the bus for the return. There was a fresh wind of mountain: we did not suffocate heat at all. In short, what to do if you go to Malaga and go there with a tour: yes it is more expensive but you will not have unpleasant surprises!:) Thanks to our Guide Pablo and the whole team of JayJay le Suisse who speaks French English and Spanish.
Very welcome from Luis, our Guide for the day, it starts with a stop in the village of Alora visit of the castle as well as the church, everything is very well organized, we have lunch of tapas + 2 drinks, it is hearty and very well come to take strength to hike safe el caminito del Rey. Luis is a super caring Guide with our cosmopolitan group, his comments and explanations regarding the site, itself, the fauna, the flora are informative, I appreciate! A small bag including water, + a chocolate bar, is offered, it is welcome! Several toilet breaks are planned, no worries 😀 The site itself is magical, and unforgettable by sensations! Do not hesitate, we cannot come to Malaga and not make this visit!
