Not on of our favorite hop on hop off tours. As indicated it is a shore excursion. You’ll see the outskirts of the city. Save your money and walk from the ship into the city

If you’re coming in on a cruise ship, the stop is right outside the terminal which is very convenient. We did the red line twice - once from each side of the bus. There is so much to see. I travel with a walker and oxygen and had no trouble getting on and off. There is no real information as to what is at each stop you definitely need to do some research ahead of time to know where you want to get off and what you want to do. It was very crowded the day we were in port so we opted not to do the museums that were included.
We booked this at the Malaga cruise terminal. The girl at the counter told us the bus would be outside the door and would drop us off at the door to the terminal upon our return. The bus was about a block down the road with no visible signage. The bus stopped about a mile from the ship and by the time we got down from upstairs he was pulling off. I mentioned it to the driver and je began shouting at me "don't cry, don't cry" . His butt came close to the one crying. I will walk before the Malaga Hop on hop off gets a dime from my family. I highly don't recommend this tour.
We purchased a 24 hour pass while visiting Malaga, which is a fantastic city. We encountered multiple issues including bus break downs, delays, late arrival of busses, and no customer service. We asked for a 2 hour extension on our pass due to multiple delays including having to wait for a replacement bus, and were asked to basically submit a thesis on why we were requesting. I would look for another option. We have don hop on hop off in many other cities and never had this much trouble.
The hop on hop off was right there at the cruise port terminal, with people to assist us . Stops were well marked thru the city drivers were great
So disappointed, seems to be very little history, the route seemed to show lots of mostly modern areas.
Fabulous service. The app is great and tour information (on earphones provided) is excellent. Gave us the opportunity to explore places we have not been to before. Regular, and in time, buses.
Seeing the city from atop the bus was really enjoyable, we especially enjoyed visiting the fort/castle and roaming around at the various stops.
Poor communication on board. We transferred to the green line. No headphones worked when I inquired, responded there is no audio. Driver seamed angry. Drove very fast. Red line was fine and operator’s helpful.
Tour started well with good commentary. After about 3 stops there was commentary for at least 90 minutes. There was only Spanish music. Complete waste of time and money. If you have any sense don’t go near it.
This is an excellent way to get your bearings around the city on your first day. I travelled the whole route and then walked back to the things I wanted to spend longer at.
Terrible experience with city sightseeing Malaga ! I purchased the 48 hour bus ,boat, museum’s & cave tickets online for myself & my daughter at a cost of £87.42 what a big mistake that was ! We got on the bus & validated our tick for our 1st & only journey at botanic gardens, it took us to the bus station where we were told to get off the bus no other information given only the driver yelling 3 at us I had to lift an information leaflet myself on the way off the bus hadn’t a clue what was happening ! We tried to find our way to the stop for the red service couldn’t find it so made our own way to the information kiosk at the marina to get help & book our tickets for the cave trip. The lady there was very helpful but told us that the boat was not fixed & would not be operational the next day for these trips, city sightseeing why put on your website that the boat would be operational on the 30th when it clearly wasn’t !! Totally fed up by this stage so tickets were used other that that one journey from the botanic gardens to the station. I phoned, emailed & messaged got replies asking for information which was given & eventually they agreed to give a partial refund of £13.74 which is just an insult they may as well not have bothered. I will never use again & don’t usually give bad reviews but was so disappointed as I have used their services before & not had any problems.
Always a great way to get a lay of the land in a new country. We took the red line for this tour and loved every minute of it. They provide you with earphones to plug in and listen to the sights you’re seeing in your language. The schedule was a bit inconsistent but it didn’t negatively impact us. This tour included two museum passes and two other routes (blue and green). Definitely great value for the money and gives a great photo vantage point of some beautiful sights.
The usual citysightseeing experience round the city covering all the important facts and locations. The Malaga one offered another route out to the botanical gardens. The place is stunning and as reliable as always the sightseeing bus had buses go past stops at 20min intervals
Having used this company for several other open top tours in other cities we were looking forward to a tour of Malaga and booked direct. We were incredibly disappointed. We waited for around half an hour at the stop by the station and nothing came. The time given on the bus stop suggested we might have a bit of a wait so we went into the station. In the station the member of staff told us that they were not running until 1pm on that day which wouldn’t have left us much time and was not as advertised. We were told to have a coffee in the station and then come back for 1pm. We sat in the station for 1.5 hours and headed back outside for 12.30, just missing a bus. We asked a member of staff about this who was rude and unhelpful. We asked when the next would be and was told “30 minutes, or it could be 20, who knows?” We got on the next bus to arrive. The audio commentary worked, but was not synced with the route - for example, being told to look to the right when there was nothing there, or being told to prepare to go through a tunnel that we had gone through five minutes before. We would absolutely not recommend this due to: - poor attitude and communication of staff - buses that run whenever they want, rather than to a schedule - poor commentary - changes to routes without warning or info.
Was great sitting on the top deck of the bus seeing the sights of Malaga on a beautiful hot day!!
A relatively short trip round the city. I couldn’t get the narration on the bus to work or the link to my Smartphone. €30 per person with free entry to the Museum Of Music. The castle was recommended as a stop for the fantastic views but we had to pay €7 each (3 of us) to go into the castle area to get the views. We were also told that there would be a bus every 20 - 30 minutes but we waited over an hour back on the bus and so we did not use the hop on hop off facility as we did not want to get stuck somewhere else as we were only in Malaga a day. We did not take advantage of the free entry to the museum. A lot of time seemed to be spent sitting in traffic in unremarkable streets on the route, traffic cannot be helped but it was taking up our day. Overall I would say overpriced and disappointing.
No audio available. Therefore not any information on the trip. Very disappointing as only one day in Malaga off celebrity equinox cruise ship. Complained to driver. Asked if better to get on next bus but told that had no sound in English. Total waste of 59.98 euro. Told to complain by driver of bus
if you are interested in boring museums that have nothing to show, this is a great tour for you. Despite Flamenco show which was really great experience. The bus is good for sightseeing but when it was a time to pick us from car museum we had a problem. The bus stop said that our bus will be there in 18:05. It was a little late but when it finally came, the bus driver said that we can not go inside because it was an end of his shift. He said that there will be another bus in 10 minutes so we waited for an half an hour but no one came. Would not recommend for that insanely high price.
When you hear about city tours in other city's, the 48 hour tour tickets were a waste of time and very short, info was very difficult, we downloaded the app to track the buses wasn't working. Bus were very late
Just back from the red line hop on hop off tour in Malaga. This is worst I’ve ever been on with nothing interesting to see and no commentary! What are you paying for if you don’t know what you are seeing and are stuck in traffic lights most of the time. Took the more expensive ticket to include boat tour but don’t think we will bother!
We used this bus because my husband had a bad back and was struggling to walk, so we thought this would be a good way to get around and see a bit of Malaga, it was rubbish! We came away knowing nothing about the city, the audio didn’t seem to match up with the route very well, I would have liked to know about the history of Malaga, there was plenty of opportunity for the audio description to do that, instead the sights pointed out to us included the cement works! I wish we had just bought a normal bus ticket, save your money and don’t bother with this.
Do the complete route first, then repeat where you want to get off. Red route seems the most comprehensive
Absolutely awful tour, booked on bus and only travelled to the next stop (castle) got off the hop on hop off bus. We decided to walk down and join at the next stop. Waited in full sun for 1 hour and forty minutes for next bus. When it finally arrived it was full and was not able to board. We then gave up and took a taxi back towards the marina. We complained via customer services who have refused any refund as we used the service. Won’t be using them ever again
Oversold overcrowded excessive waiting broken audio players so no guide or info , tried changing between routes get off overcrowded red line for green at 12:10 next bus 2:45...this company used to be great then good now appears just collecting money selling tickets everywhere no clue how many busses needed and they don't care...in malaga slightly better but still just a waste of time...we could've walked the entire route in half the time....avoid this company
Bus was fine, but the audio was terrible with high pitched background noise and there were not enough busses to hop back on. Waited almost 30 mins at one stop and finally walked
We met the bus at the railway station amidst some confusion. It was May Day and some demonstrations were expected so the bus was only going 2 stops before we had to get off and walk. The guides did their very best in difficult circumstances. We did not get on again but did enjoy the fact that out ticket gave us entry to the Centre Pompidou and the boat ride.
1 - hop on hop off is usually a great experience and chance to see a city ….this one is dire ….we spent more time stopped at bus stops than moving. Very uncomfortable in the full sun and nothing to see . All the passengers were annoyed and the bus was full . For 35 euros we spent 45 mins on the bus and about 25 mins stopped at bus stops. Then they also offer free boat rise but that was no possible either as one of the staff at the harbour said we would need to wait 4 hrs and even then a sailing at 4 pm may not go..i asked if we could get a refund and that met with nothing too …feel I’ve been ripped off and used a lot of time on a short trip to have this company waste so much of my time
Even though Viator said you would be transported to the RR station, you either had to walk about 2 km or take a cab at your own expense. Not much info from guide but they get you from one village to the next efficiently. We loved the area.
Really poor value compared to many other city sightseeing hop on / hop off bus tours that we’ve done over past years. Red route - music seemed to be the main theme (75% Music / 25% information) … Green route - a bus trip with no commentary / information > very poor!!!
This is a great way to see the city when you first arrive in Malaga. It’s a smaller city so it doesn’t take long. You can just ride the bus and get a feel for everything. Pretty views of the ocean.
Long lines, very, very crowded bus and they don’t run as often as advertised. While you do get a good flavor of the city, it is not worth the time.
This is the worst experience I have ever had on a hop on hop of red bus. We were told that the next bus would be 20mins as we were at the castle we made sure that we were at the stop after 1 hr which was a multiple of 20mins. We ended up waiting over an hr, then we took the bus back to the stop 1 and the commentary didn’t work in English so we wasn’t sure about what the sites were. When we were at stop 1 we then had a further wait for drivers to change without given an advance warning we were told to complain and that we would receive a refund. So that’s what we’re are going to do with this message and I believe that everyone on the same bus is doing the same. I would not use this service again in Malaga.
Hello On the 24th April we purchased 3 tickets from your ticket agent at Malaga train station. She told us the red bus would be with us in 20 mins, that bus came and only had 1 seat so could not get this bus, we waiting a further 10 mins for the next bus, it was raining at the time and the agent said that if we could not get on the next bus she would issue a refund. The bus arrived and she hopped on and said there were seats, however there was only 2 downstairs the rest were upstairs in the rain, and as the bus didn’t have a canopy this would have meant us sitting in the rain, which was not an option, we went back downstairs and took the 2 available seat and 1 had to stand. None of the audio was working so had no clue what we were looking at. At stop 3 the driver started shouting at me to get off the bus or sit down, I explained there were no seats and he proceeded to shout really loudly at me to get off the bus, this was a very passive aggressive attitude from your driver. He then started shouting at others that came down the stairs and others trying to board the bus. This behavior is totally unacceptable and rude. All 3 of us got off the bus and walked back to the sales agent at Malaga train station to get a refund, as at that stage it had taken wasted over an 1.5 hours, but she said it was not possible to issue refund as we had started the trip she then contacted her supervisor who said the same, she said to contact customer service as nothing else she could do. I have done this and all they have done is offer a refund of €5.99 per ticket, we paid a total of €90 and as far as we are concerned got thing for this so an offer of a refund of €5.99 each is a total insult and a rip off
These buses are great in every city too give you a good tour of all the best sights and it's a reasonable price too. Includes a station stop so can be used as transport to town instead of a taxi.
Really enjoyed this bus tour especially as a harbour tour is included in the ticket price. Overall it's not cheap but for the amount of ground the bus and the boat covers, the experience is good value. Easy to buy tickets at various shops or from one of the street sales people. Another benefit is that bus stop 10 is at Gibralfaro Castle, so a long, uphill walk can be avoided. One disappointment was that the audio guide was rubbish, it was garbled and had background noise, to the point we discarded the ear phones and just relied on using the brochure to navigate as we proceeded through the city.
Not many stops , not many convenient locations . Earphone reception was horrible At least the live route app is good
Disappointing. Very difficult to get headset working - changed seats several times. When working not informative; mostly promoting local festivals, long periods of silence. Bus sidelined - we gave up...
First and foremost, there are MANY things to experience in Malaga! I do not know why people have indicated that there were only three things to see in this location! There are so m any attractions and the Hop on and Off Bus is the best way to see it! We started from the cruise port. I did order my tickets in advance, but you can purchase tickets onsite. The buses were there waiting for us when we arrived! There was no problem with frequency of getting a bus for pick up and we never experienced over crowding. The narrating of the sights was perfect and clear. I highly recommend this tour, for Malaga!
Waste of money. Got 1 bus up to castle then abandoned there as buses stopped going up. No commentary on either bus we managed to get on and route was completely random. Didn’t know where we were. In middle of negotiating a refund but they have now stopped answering my emails.
Terrible! It said that the bus would come every 20 minutes & we waited for 40 minutes to 1 hour each stop. Lady who sold us tge tickets wasn't clear about what's included - she mentioned some tours that she said came with the tickets but they weren't free but just discounted. Was a very expensive bus ride because tge buses couldn't even get close to tge sights. Don't waste your money on this tour!
Great way to see the city of Malaga on the hop on & off bus. The pick up stop was near to cruise port.
Waited at the Centro de Arte Contemperaneo stop for over an hour with no sign of a bus. More people turned up looking for the bus and eventually we went into the old town where we found the City Sightseeing drivers on strike. No notification was sent from City Sightseeing about this strike and now they're refusing to refund my ticket for a service they failed to provide. Don't ever buy in advance from them if they're the only company running a hoho service. If there are other tour companies, use them.
We arrived in Malaga and the drivers were on strike. No bus service until later in the day. Very inconvenient.
Avoid this trip at all costs - what a waste of money. The first three buses didn’t turn up, the timetable is a work of fiction - and when finally got on a bus told that three of the main stops were not happening. Decided to change to different line and there was an hours wait for the other line - there is no alignment of timetables. And the change over stop was at a train station! There was little to no commentary for the part of the journey we did. In the end we cut our losses and abandoned it all This is the second very disappointing one of these tickets we have had and we should have learnt our lesson
Usually a great fan of these bus trips however the recent experiences on the Cordoba and Malaga trips had been poor. Malaga tour had multiple stops out of action, not informed of by staff even when asked. Booked as chance to get to the castle by road but apparently today they weren’t going there. Trips on red, blue green merge with no warning or update. On both days the information and commentary were poor. Used to be a fan but think they are taking us for granted so may never use again. Simple communication and discount route not fully open was all that was needed.
Dreadful service. First bus of the day took us to stop 10 on the red route (the Castle). No audio on the bus except music and then after we’d need round the castle and returned to the hop on stop 10 after an hour no bus arrived. Tried to contact them through their app and chat said next bus was due in 11 minutes. Waited till after then to eventually be told this stop was cancelled. Eventually was told to walk to the next nearest stop, luckily we didn’t as was later told stops 11 and 12 were also cancelled. Made our own way via regular bus back to the city to hop on another red bus only to be taken the complete opposite direction and still with no audio. Sham of a company! Avoid at all costs.
Terrible!!! I bought a ticket at 1015. They then decided to take a 3 hour lunch break. Then we sat for a hour waiting on a bus and they never came. I am sitting here with several couples all waiting. They need to offer refunds.
So poorly organised. We were told that the bus would be every 15-20 mins. What a lie that was. At best one came 40 mins and the rest every hour. We had a friend on crutches and this made it extremely difficult to get about. Don't waste your money, you could walk the route quicker.
We were turned away from the bus due to my traveling with a mobility scooter. There is only one space for one wheelchair, and there was a person ahead of us who took that space. We were told there would be another bus along in 10 minutes that we could take. We waited for more than 30 before giving up. We were in the sun at the stop, so that made it worse. We asked the company for a refund, but haven’t heard back from them. By the way, the driver never opened up the wheelchair ramp, so the people who did get on lifted their son up into the bus. I’m really disgusted.
