Itinerary
Board one of our air-conditioned coaches from Malaga. Remember to reconfirm your details at least 48h before the activity! From there, sit back and relax on your journey to the Caminito del Rey.
During the route, enjoy the views and natural landscapes that you will cross, such as Sierra de Alcaparain, where you will see extensive orange tree plantations and several Andalusian white villages. Just 9km from Caminito del Rey, we will make a stop of approximately one hour, in the picturesque town of Ardales where you will have free time to visit it at your leisure. At this stop, you can stretch your legs, have a snack and recharge your batteries before starting the Caminito del Rey hiking trail.
The construction of a water channel from the reservoirs in the north to El Chorro was carried out together with a path for maintaining the channel. This one is known as El Caminito del Rey (The King’s Little Pathway) because it was first opened by King Alfonso XIII. This path, about 3 kilometers long, has stretched of less than 1 meter wide and it is hanging about 100 meters high above the Guadalhorce River.

fantastic ecperience with excellent guides who were safety aware and intent on us having a great time.
The transport was comfortable, clean and on time for pick up at beginning of. Actual hike was trip of a lifetime, spectacular views and we were lucky with the weather …overcast which was ideal for activity. Only downside was the facilities and wait at pick up. We had picnic food on the bus but couldn’t access it because the bus wasn’t actually parked at the picnic area. Food available was not satisfactory and picnic area unclean coupled with a long wait for bus to come to the pick up point it spoiled the end of an excellent trip.
Gregor was great, his knowledge of was really impressive and the overall experience was really good!
Overall was pleased with this tour. It was well organized, guides were great, ran on time. The hike was lovely. Definitely worth the visit. They filter a lot of people through, so the disadvantage of a tour is accommodating to another person’s schedule. Would prefer the freedom to go at my own pace and stop for photos when I wanted, but for a tour experience the convenience and efficiency were very good. Would recommend this tour and company. The beer at the end of the hike was glorious!
Guide walks at a very fast pace. But the overall experience is done in a lifetime. Not for those that can't do heights.
Absolutely fantastic trip, lovely air conditioned bus , the guide was extremely informative and pleasant. Would definitely recommend doing this.
Mother Nature never disappoints and our tour guide was there with patient to take us through the trail.
THIS IS A MUST! Those who are taking a holiday in Spain, you must do this. Well worth it and well worth travelling a distance for too. Not for the faint hearted, it really does push any fear you have of heights to a whole new level but an experience never to forget! Really safe, fun, imformative and a great day out, although you will be tired at the end of it. There is a lot of walking. Our guide was fantastic and full of information. She answered all the questions we had for her. The group size was good too. A very well organised business. A great atmosphere throughout, everyone was friendly and helpful. You need to plan this for a day. It really is a full day experience but well worth the cost we paid as this is something that you can't compare to anything else. A once in a lifetime expereince!
This is definitely a must do if you go to Malaga. Spectacular views and the experience is totally worth it.
This was an amazing experience! Definitely not for the faint of heart or those afraid heights. The views were stunning and our guide Maria (del mar) was informative, funny, and kind. The Caminito Del Rey is not to be missed- we even saw mountain goats roaming in their natural habitat! 10 out of 10 would recommend!
A very memorable trip that was well-organised.
Can be a bit physically demanding but well worth it! Listen to the guide regarding the safety concerns because they really do know best. Helmets are NOT optional.
This was definitely an experience NOT TO BE MISSED! The views were spectacular, you barely feel the hike because your eyes are so busy taking in all that beauty!!!! Definitely a MUST if you’re in Málaga! Mar, our guide was really fun, she even took pics of us and made the hike very pleasant! 10 out of 10 I highly recommend!
The walk is incredible and you should definitely do it if you're able to. I didn't feel the guided part added much - the village we stopped at was primarily to use the toilet, and the audio devices didn't have the best reception so I missed a lot of what the tour guide was saying during the route. But the caminito del ray itself was a great experience and if the tour allows you to do it (individual tickets had sold out when I was planning my trip), then I still think it's worth it.
can be a bit crowded. But they managed it very well. The tour guide on the actual walk talked too much and it was difficult to understand her. We took our headphones off after 10 minutes.
Well organised. Your guides very friendly, informative and helpful. Ran on schedule and bus was very comfortable.
Gorgeous views and amazing walk but way too many people on one tour. Highly recommend a smaller group with 8-10 max. We had 23! Our guide couldn’t keep control. Radios didn’t work and batteries died on mine. The back and forth to English and French was annoying. I would do a single language only. Excellent area to tour but we would do it alone or with a much for private tour next time
Cesar and Irene were great guides. Very pretty and unusual walk through the canyon! I really enjoyed it!!
A must to see and do I think touring company dont matter too much going with this company was just the basics. The views are beyond amazing and so happy to go and not too hard of a walk
Love Viator…this was a first for us NOT receiving that which we were expecting. The long and short of this experience…would have been 5 stars and high recommend if based on the location and hike alone, with a few caveats: the tour was supposed to be 7 hours (super long in and of itself), but it was actually 8 hours, which on a limited holiday is asking a lot. The itinerary changed right out of the gate and they eliminated the hour tour of Ardales (or it would have been 9 hours). There were numerous bathroom and catch your breath stops (got to almost be a joke for us). Our general finding was this tour could have been trimmed down to 3.5-4 hrs, yielding back half a day to the participants. This would account for a reasonable amount of time on the trail itself. There were inexplicable extra stops to drop off some passengers at stops and hotels (added an extra half hour at least), there were moments of utter confusion and disorganization that I have seldom seen I. A tour company…often making decisions on the fly…like who goes with which group leader and which leader took which group. Another big disappointment was that the English group is mixed with the Spanish and French…so, each ear piece and bus dialogue is spued out 3 times for non-stop chatter and constant chirping in multiple languages. The tour improved dramatically and became far more pleasant and peaceful once removing the earbud from the perpetual Chatty Cathy experience. The pros…the scenery and landscape is breathtaking. The level of difficulty for the hike is LOW…you can and should do it…just get an individual ticket and lead yourself!!!! The hike with the tour is painfully slow and the guide is like a given or on a bus, practically shuffling along, keeping everyone behind her like small school children that just want to get on with it. Overall, happy to have done it, just hate the wasted extra half day for the experience. I guess I have a few good laughs and stories to tell from it (but, at the expense of the experience). On to the next!!!
Could be crowded but its beautiful!! Easy walk, not steep except reaching the parking to the bus at the end!!!. Not for wheelchairs. A couple of stairs might be little scary if you are afraid of hights and a bridge also. I thing a person with disabilities but strong feet can make it.
It is extremely safe and do-able! Don't be deterred and don't miss out on this stunning experience. The group moves at a very manageable pace for all, with stops along the way. Just be sure to have plenty of water and sun protection (it was 102 in July when we were there). We are all senior citizens, two with ongoing health challenges, and everyone did fine. They also have a medic on hand and can transport anyone out who may need assistance, at any time. Professionally run, wonderful, the hike of a lifetime. Go do it!
Great weather and landscape and not too Crowded on the 30th december 2025 made a Great experience for us.
We are a family of four and joined their guided tour. Due to transport issues we arrived about 30 minutes late, but the staff kindly moved us to a later tour so we could still join. I honestly thought we would miss it, so we were really grateful – they were very flexible and helpful! The guided tour was absolutely worth it. Sandro was clear, engaging, funny and very polite. The walking pace was just right, and we learned so much more about the history and geography of the area. Highly recommended – 10/10!
Had to re book, as small group tour was cancelled, going with 50+ people not usually my thing, but you are split into smaller groups by language, so turned out okay. Well worth the money, fantastic views and scenery. Don't believe scare stories about toilets, opportunity to go at start and end of walk, as long as you don't have belly full of beer, you'll be fine. Lots walking -so inc. shortish walk to and from pick up we covered over 7 miles, 18,500 steps. Our tour stopped at Ardales on way out, but you're just killing time really, you only get 1 hr there, and not a lot to see.
This is great trip !! Transportation, and everything that you need it makes things a little simpler! It was a little hard to find the pick up. Read the instructions as much as you possibly can all the instructions are there just not seen them. Make sure you get on the right bus with your reservation quite a few people had her name on different buses didn't understand that little confusing but we did figure it out.
Absolutely one of the best things ever We did this via Cunard Queen Anne our Guide Kevin yes Kevin was excellent The walk was relatively easy I am 72 and thought it easy but extremely enjoyable and the beer at the end was fantastic
Be prepared for the mass volume of people you . I’ll think you’re in Disneyland the amount of people that go through the gate is 1400 people a day. You’ll be queueing up just to move from one section of the path to the next section with your group. Also you’ll cover probably close to 8- 9 km of walking, they don’t tell you that part..
This is a long hike and if you have mobility issues I do not recommend. There are lots of stairs when going through the mountain and if you are afraid of heights, all I can say is push through it! It’s only a small portion. I loved the hike, the history, interesting, and I highly recommend it!
Beautiful breathtaking view of the cave and mountains. I went with family and everyone enjoyed. I would definitely recommend to visit. Our tour guide Carlos was amazing. We were also lucky to see ibex. Definitely need to carry water and quick snacks as there is nothing available during the hike. There are few shops available at the start and at the end of the hike. Also toilets are at the start and at the end nothing available in the middle of the hike.
Great day out and wonderful guides. However, it is not for the faint hearted if you are afraid of heights.
The tour was great, the guide was wonderful, she told a lot of interesting facts about caminito del rey, its history, about the animals that live here. It was really fun even for solo travelers like my self. Really recommend this tour for everyone who visits nearby cities ant villages.
We had a great experience at the Caminito del Rey! Booking was simple and straightforward, which took all the stress out of planning. Our tour guide was fantastic—so nice, helpful, and full of interesting information. I highly recommend this tour!
Trip was well organized, we had no issues or delays. Walk has few uphills, but otherwise quite flat. Awesome views. Should be manageable even for those with heights anxiety .
What an amazing trip and hike thru the canyon. The water rushing below you, the train disappearing into the mountainside all the while walking next to the rocks/canyon walls! A must do and see activity. Do the guided tour you will learn so much. One of my most favorite adventures to date.
This is definitely a “must do” activity when visiting Andalusia. The walk is active, but not too strenuous if you are moderately fit and the views and experience of being (safely) suspended above the canyon are spectacular. The one down side was that, while our coach of nearly 50 people was split into three groups based on language, it was uneven split such that one group had only four people plus a guide, while ours - the largest - had nearly 30. This meant that the tail end of our group was virtually unable to hear over the radio (due distance and interference) the commentary and instructions from the otherwise interesting and well-informed guide.
Although I give this 5 stars as it was amazing, to be told repeatedly "use the rest rooms before the hike " "drink lots of water" ....to reach said rest rooms to be told "sorry all out of order, cross your legs" was unprofessional. It was 42 degrees there yesterday, I barely drank going round as I needed the toilet from half way point. I found this to be very poor considering the amount of people there. And a glib "cross your legs" comment quite rude
The area is beautiful and worth it regardless. I would have preferred a smaller group or to have gone solo but I appreciate the history of the area Roberto shared. Though he seemed apologetic for the brief stop en route, I did enjoy the small town we stopped in. Had I known about it previously, I would have planned to have a meal in the small cafe. The trail itself is not difficult but the heat could be a factor. Taking a small water bottle was a good idea.
Camino del Rey is awesome! Stunning scenery!! Our guide Mar was amazing! Lovely here for families- big lakes nearby with kayaking! Really hot - would be even better in spring! Some shady bit which was great. Good for most people. Thank you for a trip of a lifetime!
I did the Caminito del Rey hike alone and really enjoyed the walk itself – it's stunning and well worth the visit. The guide was friendly and knowledgeable, and overall it felt like a safe and well-organized experience during the actual tour. However, there were some logistical issues that really should be improved. The bus that was supposed to pick us up was over 30 minutes late, with no communication or sign at the meeting point. It was confusing and frustrating, especially since there was no guide present to clarify the situation. A simple sign or someone meeting us on time would have made a big difference. Also, the phone number provided for contact didn’t work, which made it even more stressful. During the walk, the audio system was quite poor – the guide's voice was hard to hear, and it seemed like this was the case for all groups. It might be a good idea to bring your own headset with a mini-jack if that’s possible, as the provided earpieces didn’t help much. Overall, the experience was worth it for the scenery and the hike, but the tour organization needs some attention.
Not very organised. Alot of waiting around while the guides mess about trying to get groups organised. Then a long wait at the end as no definate time to be at the end picnic area was given to people. 2 way radios given out so your guide can talk to the group didn't work.
The organization was poor, not enough headsets for everyone, not one word of explanation during the walk, not allowed to drink water in the Bus ( 2x 1,5h, 30C ), much too big group for hiking (46 people in our group). The walk itself is awsome, but not with 3 groups at the same time … Price on the higher end… please become better..
Great experience and good tour guide The tour guide gives us a very wonderful experience and explains all the details
Very well organized, amazing tour guide spoke in all 4 languages.. our Spanish guide did excellent in keeping us informed and educating us along the way.. made it a wonderful experience for 2 seniors
The local tour guide Leticia was talking and going too fast. Hard to catch up with her. Overall the trip was good.
Caminito del Rey is a definitely must-do while in Málaga. I was very sceptical about it as I'm scared of heights. But I did it anyway and it was the best decision.
The hike is beautiful & mostly an easy walk but the directions are very confusing. We were told where to park & the shuttle bus & parking not included in our hike fees. No problem. It wasn't expensive, just a few euros. The bathrooms were closed because of a broken pipe. We waited for the bus and the driver was outstanding. We were nervous because we were led to believe we HAD to meet our guide one hour before our scheduled tour. Well, the bus driver dropped us off and we didn't realize it was a 1.5k (?) walk to the hike start. We jogged, worrying we'd miss our time slot. Meanwhile, the other bus riders waited in the bathroom line. We followed the 2 signs to the hike start, and after a lot of confusion & a language barrier, we figured out where we we're supposed to go. Speaking of having to go, I asked, "Can I use the bathroom before we start?" She said, if you hurry. Ok so I hurried & rejoined the group of about 20 hikers. We got our hard hats & radios and began. It was really great and not difficult. When the hike was over, our guide nonchalantly told us we still had a one mile walk back to the shuttle bus. People were really confused. It would be really easy to alleviate the confusion - just color code the buses and parking areas. We went through a lot of stress while others paid less and parked with ease, right at the hike's start?! I think some of it is a scam for more money but I loved the actual canyon hike and would do it again.
The views during the hike were unforgettable—stunning and breathtaking. It’s definitely a must-do if you’re nearby. Unfortunately, the day was windy and cloudy, but the views were still mesmerizing. The hike is easy, though I wouldn’t recommend it for those afraid of heights. The only downside was that the return to Málaga took a very long time, as it took a while to drop off all the tourists at their hotels.
Unforgettable tour. The guide was amazing, she told us all the stories and histories for the bridge and the path. it was lovely.
