Be Mate Malaga Centro

The check-in process was terrible. I booked Malaga Centro through Agoda for 26 September 2026 to 27 September 2026. I had already informed the accommodation that we would arrive around 20:00–21:00. According to Agoda, the Check-in method was clearly stated as: “Meet and greet – Staff will meet guests, provide room keys, and guide check-in.” I have attached a screenshot of this information. However, when we arrived, nobody was there and the door was locked. We only found a phone number on the door. After contacting them through WhatsApp, we were told that we had to complete an online check-in before we could enter. This requirement was not stated in the Agoda booking information. They also did not give us the access code until we completed the check-in. We had to wait outside for around 40 minutes with our three tired children, with nowhere to sit. We honestly felt like we were homeless even though we had paid for a five-star apartment. The online check-in was also unnecessarily complicated: We had to enter passport details for everyone and then upload passport photos as well. If all the passport information had already been provided, I don't understand why the passport photos were also necessary. We had to provide five different email addresses, even though three of the guests were children. It is unreasonable to expect children to have their own email addresses. We also had to complete and sign a PDF online, which was difficult to do on a phone, especially while standing outside with tired children. I understand that guest information may be required for registration, but the process should be simple and practical. This whole process was very stressful and inconvenient, especially after travelling with children. If online check-in is mandatory, it should be clearly explained before arrival. The access code should also be provided in advance so guests are not left outside the building. Very disappointing experience for a five-star accommodation.

The location was about a block away from the historical center which worked out perfectly. It is also a couple of blocks from La Tranca which is a not to be missed locals bar. The 1 bedroom apartment is very nicely laid out with a lot of space to relax. The building is also very secure but the area is a very relaxing location

We really enjoyed our stay in the apartment! There is so much to see and do in Malaga, and this clean place to stay is really good value for money. All you need is available, for example: coffee, tea, big fridge, cooking plate and combi oven, dishwasher, washing machine, big bathroom, airco and fan etc etc. The beds are of extraordinary quality, we slept like a rose and woke up completely rested. Ready for another full day of enjoying Spain!

This was our second time at Be Mate and it certainly won’t be our last. The penthouse is absolutely amazing, incredibly spacious throughout, with the balcony being a real highlight and a luxury to enjoy throughout our stay. The facilities are fantastic, with everything you could possibly need provided, the pillows are particularly comfortable. The apartment feels very secure, which gave us complete peace of mind during our visit. The location is excellent, right in the heart of the city, with so much to see, do, and enjoy…even just along Calle Carretería itself. The team were always friendly, responsive, and happy to help with any questions we had. Overall, another wonderful stay in a truly exceptional apartment - see you again soon!
