NOTE: The tour is over 2 miles long, with more than 28 audio stories, and takes about 1-2 hours to complete. New, Lifetime access, no expiry. Use it anytime, on any trip, as many times as you want.
Bar Island Trail is a totally unique walking trail. It's a sandbar trail leading out to one of Bar Harbor's beautiful islands, but it only appears at low tide! If you're here at the right time, it makes for a positively magical stroll.
The West Street Historic District features rows of breathtaking historic homes, all dating between 1870 and 1910. Here, you'll learn how to identify which ones are the oldest!
Built in 1902, La Rochelle is a simply jaw-dropping estate. This enormous mansion has 41 rooms and a ton of history. It's now owned by the Maine Seacoast Mission Society, which purchased the property for only a dollar.
Built in 1878, this iconic structure only barely survived a huge fire that swept through Bar Harbor in 1947. Today, it continues to welcome visitors as a cozy bed and breakfast!
This is a church which simply must be photographed. The impressive stonework, the imposing tower, and the gorgeous windows are all just begging to end up on Instagram!
St. Saviour's Episcopal Church is a quirky architectural oddity. This church was built in multiple sections, with the oldest parts dating back to 1877 and the newest to the 1930s. The end result is an oddly endearing and totally unique structure.
This historic library dates all the way back to 1877. At the time, it had only 250 volumes, almost all of which were donated by the town's wealthy residents. Since then, that small collection has continued to expand.
Abbe Museum celebrates the heritage of the native Wabanaki. Also known as the People of the Dawn, the Wabanaki lived in Bar Harbor long before it was Bar Harbor. Museum founder Robert Abbe wanted to honor that long history, and the museum now features exhibits encompassing 12,000 years of Native history in the region.
Bar Harbor's village green isn't just any old park. It was designed by Beatrix Farrand, who also designed the Rose Garden at the White House! It features an 1896 street clock, a historic bandstand, and a fountain in the style of 17th century Italian fountains.
Balance Rock is an unusual landmark which rests right next to the Shore Path. It's a glacial erratic, meaning a glacier dragged it a very long way before setting it down here. This boulder is estimated to have moved about 40 miles before setting up shop in Bar Harbor!
Once the site of a Gilded Age mansion, Grant Park is now just a pleasant, oceanside green space for all to enjoy. If you're looking for the ideal picnic spot, this is it!
The Bar Harbor Inn is a seaside resort with a very long and complicated history. It was once a reading room where Bar Harbor's wealthy residents discussed literature and the matters of the day. Today, it has been converted into one of the most lavish hotels in the town. Your tour concludes just past this hotel, right near the pier where it began.

Easy to download and follow. Very informative and information comes through right on time at the appropriate location. Me and my partner shared our blue tooth headphones, so we could both enjoy the walking tour. Good value for the cost.
App works very well and gps feature is a must to enjoy walking tours. Glad to have found this app. Now I have a back up when my preferred app doesn’t have a tour for a location.
I learned a lot about the structures and the history of this cute town. This tour was an easy stroll that all ages can enjoy.
This walking tour was well arranged and thorough. The narrator was very pleasant. The start/stop was easy to navigate.
The audio tour worked well until we got near the end (points 22 and 23). At that point there was no longer any narrative and not even any message saying this concludes your tour.
The tour was easy to follow and very informative about the area and history. Would recommend to ours as a cost effective way to see Bar Harbor.
Fun way to explore Bar Harbor st our own pace It gave a nice history with the option to learn more Recommend
It was a nice walking tour of Bar harbor. The directions were easy to follow and the tour automatically turned on at designated sites.
Overall , it was a nice tour. We had a little trouble getting it to work . I called customer service and I received a call 8 hours later. Luckily we figured it out.
Well worth the time and money - an interesting and relaxed walk with lots of entertaining stories and local knowledge - our guide was excellent and made it worthwhile, as guides can often do!
We actually really enjoyed the audio tour. It is an easy walk with several places to stop and shop or have a meal or a drink. It was well priced, and I would highly recommend it.
It wasn't clear to me that there wouldn't be a person or a desk to check in with. The harbor master said lots of people show up at his office based on the apps map of starting location abd he has no knowledge whatsoever of the company ... inside the pier shops are other tour desks who have never heard of this company. We spent half an hour stumbling around, going to the Visor Information desk downtown who knew nothing either ... then got within like sto #3 and the audio started playing off the app on my phone.
What a great way to see Bar Harbor without costing an arm and a leg! The tour was very easy to navigate and by downloading the program ahead of time, you didn't need to worry about WiFi. We were able to go at our own pace, taking breaks to sit a bit, run into a store and even stop to get a snack/drink. The information at each of the tour stops was concise and no more than 3 minutes each.
We enjoyed the tour. It was easy to follow and we were able to see the most important sites. Would do it again.
Excellent tour with very thorough explanations! I found it very easy to use and also quite interesting! I do recommend it!
We really liked that the audio was perfectly synced with our location. This d is great because it’s hard for us to hear in a large tour group. It was just the right amount of information. It didn’t get boring and we learned a lot about the area.
Easy, informative, can set your pace. Wish there was a little more information on each topic/place of interest. Overall a nice way to spend the afternoon, get some Steps in and learn a little about the town.
This walking tour was super. We just downloaded one for Boston and found it very easy to learn about the town at our own pace without being in a massive tour group.
This made the walk around so interesting. The narrations automatically played when we approached something interesting. We went in the opposite order, end to beginning. And it worked fine for us. I wish there were more of these at other locations.
Easy to use app with accurate and interesting location-based narration. Maps and menu were easy to follow. Will be buying another audio tour for Charlottetown, PE!
The tour was very informative and closely matched the displayed walking map. The map with numbered circles was very helpful in knowing when a place of interest was coming up. The tour does need to be updated to show that the Shore Path is closed due to storm damage. A possible solution is to add other points of interest such as the cemetery across the street from the library. Overall, we were very pleased with the app and the tour.
We liked that the audio knew where we were & start & stop at just the right time. It allowed you to read the story as well.
Terrible is an understatement. We were unable to find any way to start tour. We followed directions on app but when we arrived there was NO way to start tour. Nothing we could find. After at least half an hour of trying to figure it out we gave up. So not only did we waste our time we also wasted our $. Very frustrating!
We enjoyed walking the neighborhood at our own pace, instead of just shopping on the Main Street. We also liked learning the history of Bar Harbor.
The tour gave us a good history of the area. It was just long enough. Enjoyed the turn around walk back along the waterfront. Only change I would have liked is less silence gaping between the stops. I kept feeling like I was disconnected.
This was a great way to get out of the car and get a nice walk while learning more about the history of Bar Harbor. We especially appreciated the ocean walk that we might otherwise have missed.
Our group really enjoyed the self-guided walking audio tour. We learned interesting information each stop along the way. The tour is linked via GPS on your mobile device. This tour is an incredible value. Highly recommended.
A good tour for the money. I appreciated the map view as well, since we took a few detours to stop in some of the shops.
The route takes you thru a three foot wide 100 yard long path between two fence’s that is muddy and water filled. This area of the tour route should be reconsidered .
The audio walking tour of Bar Harbor was very easy to use. I downloaded it while at home on wi-fi as suggested in the email instructions and tested it out immediately afterwards. Worked like a charm even when I turned off wi-fi and data at home and in Maine. The narration went at a nice pace, the gentleman had a good voice and was easy to understand. My husband and I split a set of wireless ear pods that way we could hear the tour clearly and wouldn't disturb anyone around us. Plus we didn't have to huddle around the phone in order to hear it. This was 1 of 2 audio tours that we did from the same company and both were great. Would definitely use them again!
We booked this as a last minute activity for a day in bar harbour. We weren’t expecting much for the price paid but it was blooming brilliant! I would absolutely recommend. It’s worth purchasing it at least the day before to make sure it’s downloaded etc. we had no issues with it and thought it was really simple and easy to use.
We enjoyed the tour very much. We learned a lot and it did not feel like 2 miles. Unfortunately we went on a Wednesday in August and their were so many people in town that we waited until early Thursday morning to take the tour to avoid the crowds. We were unable to cross the bar because we missed low tide but that’s on us.
We could not access the tour. It kept saying that the pass word you sent us had already been used. We looked for a way to talk to someone, but that was also missing. Overall it was a non experience.
So good! Very easy to use and follow. Perfect amount of information and time. Highly recommend and will definitely do again.
We drove and were able to stop easily at the points of interest to listen to the info on the tour. The tour was great and loved it so much we purchased the Self-Guided Audio tour for Acadia National Park as well.
Could not download the app. Told Trip advisor, and they would not refund the charge, told me it was good in the future, but I may never go back to Bar Harbor.
Really enjoyed our tour with Action app once we figured out exactly how it worked. We were on a cruise and had a limited time for our tour. If like us, I would recommend becoming familiar with the app before you use it for the actual tour. The information was excellent and corresponded automatically with our location which made it easy to follow. Looking forward to new offerings in the future!
This was a fun walking tour, and we paused it to check out cool shops on the route, It showed us a lot of cool historical spots, and finished it by talking us on a beautiful path next to the ocean
Very informative. Enjoyed the thoroughness of the history. You’ll need to download the app so make sure you’re in an area to do so.
Loaded app/your at home. Got to Bar Harbor. Opened up tour and enjoyed learning all about places and history of Bar Harbor! Worked great!
Once we figured out the correct app to use, it was a breeze ! We originally downloaded the Viator app (wrong one) … called for help … employee was very patient with us.
