Itinerary
The Royal Basilica of San Francisco the Great, officially Basilica of Our Lady of the Angels, is a Roman Catholic church in Madrid, in the Palace district, within the historic center of the capital of Spain.
Almudena Cathedral is the most important religious building in Madrid. On June 15, 1993, it was consecrated by Pope John Paul II, becoming the first cathedral consecrated outside Rome. The Museum of the Cathedral of the Almudena gathers dozens of objects that narrate the history of the diocese of Madrid. In the twelve rooms with the museum you will see everything from mosaics to episcopal shields and ornament.
The Royal Palace of Madrid, also called the Royal Palace of the East, is the official residence of the King of Spain; however, the current kings do not live in it, but in the Palace of the Zarzuela, so it is used for state ceremonies and solemn acts.
Covered market from around 1916 with local food, delis and events in an elegant atmosphere.
Located in the very characteristic Barrio de las Letras, we are opposite the place where one of the most famous writers in history lived and died: Miguel de Cervantes. After a life full of adventures, the writer of "Don Quixote de la Mancha" lived among the narrow streets of 16th century Madrid, where novels, theatrical performances in comedy pens, poetry and art coexisted, with street picaresque, duels between gentlemen and liars.
The Palace of the Spanish Courts was erected on the site of the former convent of the Holy Spirit that was used as the seat of Congress between 1834 and 1841. On the main facade, a staircase ascends to the neoclassical portico, with six imposing striated columns, of Corinthian order, on which the triangular pediment decorated with reliefs of Pontian Ponzano stands. The iconic lions flanking the entrance are the work of the same sculptor and were cast with the iron of the cannons captured during the African war. Under the pediment, the chiseled bronze door opens only on very marked occasions. Among the rooms of the building, symmetrical in plan, the well-known Session Hall stands out, but also the library or the Conference Hall, better known as the hall of "the lost steps".
Both gods occupy prominent positions within the Greek mythological hierarchy and rival the sporting field, as the fans of Atletico Madrid celebrate their victories in the square of the god of the sea, while that of Real Madrid celebrates in that of Cibeles. As part of Ventura Rodríguez’s original project, both fountains were initially facing each other, looking at each other on one side of Paseo del Prado. Both Cibeles and Neptune underwent restructuring and relocation at the end of the 19th century, eventually occupying the center of the squares of Cibeles and Canovas del Castillo, respectively.
Uniquely rich in paintings by European masters from the 16th to the 19th centuries, according to art historian and Hispanicist Jonathan Brown, “few would dare to doubt that it is the most important museum in the world in European painting.” Its main attraction lies in the wide presence of Velázquez, El Greco, Goya (the most extensive artist represented in the museum), Titian, Rubens and Bosco, of which it has the best and most extensive collections that exist worldwide, to which must be added outstanding sets of authors as important as Murillo, Ribera, Zurbarán, Fra Angelico, Rafael, Veronese, Tintoretto, Patinir, Antonio Moro, Van Dyck or Poussin, to name but a few of the most relevant.
The ancient monastery of Saint Jerome el Real, popularly known as “Los Jerónimos”, was one of the most important monasteries in Madrid, originally governed by the Order of Saint Jerome. Next to it existed the so-called Royal Room, then expanded as the Palace of the Good Retreat in the time of Philip IV.
The Puerta de Alcalá is one of the five old royal gates that gave access to the city of Madrid, located in the center of the Independence Square roundabout.
Surrounded by the buildings of the Palacio de Buenavista (Army Headquarters), Palacio de Linares (House of America), Palacio de Comunicaciones (formerly the headquarters of the Post Office and now the Madrid City Council) and Banco de España. The fountain depicts the Roman goddess Cybele, symbol of land, agriculture and fertility, on a cart drawn by two lions, the mythological characters Hippomenes and Atalanta. The goddess and the lions were carved from marble and the rest from stone. The sculpture of the goddess is the work of Francisco Gutierrez. The two lions have been sculpted by the French Roberto Michel. The goddess is an icon for supporters of the Real Madrid football team, as it celebrates the titles of the Madrid team, as well as the successes of the Spanish national football team.
Quite a decorative waste, awarded at the National Exhibition of Fine Arts of 1884. The building was built with the aim of providing the National Bank with a headquarters more in line with the importance of its functions, such as the single issue of coins and banknotes for the entire Spanish territory. The interior of the building can only be visited by groups of educational establishments and universities. Exceptionally, also by cultural entities and non-profit associations.
Plaza de Santa Ana is an open space in the Cortes district of Madrid. It dates from 1810 and throughout its history has undergone numerous urbanization processes that have changed its appearance with varying fortunes.
Campo del Moro is a garden located in the Spanish city of Madrid. Declared of historical-artistic interest in 1931, it occupies an area of about twenty hectares, extending, from east to west, from the western facade of the Royal Palace to the promenade of the Virgin of the Port.
The Temple of Debod is an ancient Egyptian building currently located in the Spanish city of Madrid. It is located west of the Spanish Steps, next to the Paseo del Pintor Rosales, on a high where the Mountain Barracks was located.

Our Tuk Tuk tour was the perfect way to start our visit to Madrid! Our guide, Julian, was wonderful! We enjoyed touring the different parts of Madrid and seeing the landmarks! This was super helpful while planning the rest of our visit! Our guide was also able to offer many suggestions for places to eat and things to do! Would definitely recommend this to anyone visiting Madrid!
Very Nice tour, we visited so many places
We had a great experience on this tour. JP, our tour guide was absolutely wonderful! He was very knowledgeable and fun to tour the city with. This is a great way to see so much of the city and then you can decide the things you might want to go back and spend more time doing. We would definitely recommend this to other tourists!
This is a good introduction to the city. My guide Laura was extremely helpful with places to go, sites to see, and best places to eat. Also typical tourist traps to avoid.
Great experience with Juan, our knowledgeable guide. Answered all our questions and provided a proper welcome to Madrid. I will use the information I learned to build on my plans for my first time in Madrid! Thank you Juan!
Juan was exceptional…great history lesson taking us to all the key areas. Incredibly friendly, knowledgeable and engaging. So glad we decided to book at the last minute!
A good way to see parts of Madrid that you would not get to on foot, while also learning about the history. Our guide was very informative and polite. We would recommend this to anyone visiting Madrid.
Rather enjoyed this. So much so that we booked another in Lisbon. Driver recommended a few restaurants. Went back to June of them and it was great. Thanks.
We had a lovely evening tour with Roberto. He was a great guide and interacted really nicely with our 3 year old daughter The tour was super interesting and we saw parts of the city that we wouldn't have seen or known about had we explored ourselves. Overall an excellent trip and really fun for children.
The tour path and guide were great! I would recommend booking something similar with a different company. This group's tuktuk's have weather lining, when rolled up it blocks about 6 inches of line of sight right at eye level. I found most of the tour I was trying to sink down into my seat or lean up to see over it. I was disappointed with the restricted visibility and noticed tuktuks with different groups didn't have this issue with their configuration.
My 5’10” wife had a great time. Gloria was fantastic and the tuk tuk was fun. As a 6’3” person I had difficulty seeing through the folded up rain cover. So great experience for normal people but if you are on the tall side it’s not worth going on.
We really enjoyed this tour Camillo was knowledgeable and engaging. We were happy to be driven round in the Tuk Tuk as we were tired from an earlier walk. The communication from the company was very good.
Our guide Angel was very friendly and super knowledgeable. A really fun way to explore Madrid. It was a little tricky to find meeting point but the before communication was excellent with plenty instructions, photos and video to direct you
Camilo was experienced and a wonderful guide. His English was excellent. We saw so much of beautiful Madrid we would not have ventured otherwise.
The driver Guillermo was great even though it was a cold day in Madrid. We should’ve chosen a warm day to do the tour
Totally worth it. Great way to sample what Madrid has to offer before exploring deeper. Excellent host and historical commentary. Juan José was great!
Our arrival date trip around city was great way to get acclimated from jet lag. We road around 2 hours around Madrid with varies stops along the way. Highly recommend.
Like all of the other reviews, it’s 100% worth it. Our guide, Juan José, was awesome! Loved getting the audible history with the visual sites. It’s a great teaser for deeper Madrid exploration. The personal attention, recommendations, and q&a was superb.
Great experience but it was difficult to find. After walking around for 20 minutes I text company and they called and stayed on the phone until we arrived. Juan Oaul was very knowledgeable.
Nice way to see the highlights of Madrid. Our guide, Daniel, AKA Carlos, was knowledgeable, funny, and personable. We had a nice time.
This was a great way to get a quick feel for Madrid, its layout and history. We took the two hour trip and had Bobby as our tour guide. He was a wealth of information and very personable. I’d recommend both Bobby and this excursion!
We took this tour with our elderly father so he could appreciate Madrid. Daniel was an excellent guide with info, humor and care! Highly recommend for everyone!
Relaxed way to quickly see some of the major attractions, albeit drive bys. More historical context for all of the sites we passed would have been great. We passed many sites that looked to be significant.
Excellent way to see Madrid. Our driver Laura is funny, and knowledgeable. She explained well in English. Great tour!
Guillermo knew the heart of Madrid and shared it with us well in our short 2hrs. He talks a bit fast (ok, we had just come off the plane from across the Big Pond!), but we got most of it! Great suggestions for sights to follow up on, for restaurants - a variety to boot. He slipped in bits of history, story, and trivia.
We saw an overview of Madrid including all the stops and photo opportunities, as described by Viator. However, our guide didn’t have a good command of the English language. I specified an English-speaking guide.
This tour was a great way to see a lot of the city convenient way. Our guide was personable and very knowledgeable. Definitely worth it especially if you’re only in Madrid for a few days
This is a great overview of Madrid and perfect for an initial experience in the city. Daniel was a wonderful guide and gave great explanations. He even made an extra stop because we had a little extra time.
The experience was absolutely amazing. Our Tour Guide, Sylvia was was very helpful, fun, and knowledgeable. Would recommend the trip and the guide to everyone.
Our guide, Camilo, was incredibly attentive and kind. Finding the initial meeting point was a bit of a challenge, but Camilo went above and beyond by coming to look for us at a different location. His warm personality instantly made us feel comfortable. He is highly knowledgeable and shared excellent local recommendations. Thank you, Camilo, for a wonderful experience!
Christian was knowledgeable and entertaining. He did a great job of giving an overview of Madrid in the time we had available. I recommend for sure.
Great overview of Madrid with very friendly and knowledgeable guide. Would recommend, particularly when you first arrive.
Jose was knowledgeable and friendly. We enjoyed getting to see so many different areas of the city. The basilica and rose garden stops were highlights. Highly recommend doing this when you first arrive rather than just before leaving as we did.
This was a wonderful experience and worth every penny. Jorge, our guide was 10 minutes early to pick us up at the hotel and for 2 hours gave us an incredibly knowledgeable tour of Madrid, of what has to be seen. He was so kind and friendly. I can highly recommend this operator and believe it is the easiest way to get to know the city within this time period.
Mario was a super guide. We loved our trip. He was really friendly and full of local knowledge. Would highly recommend.
We really enjoyed this tour! Our guide David was great. There are so many hills and inclines in Madrid so this was perfect for our family traveling with seniors. We got to the best of Madrid in two hours. Beautiful city!
Cancelled last minute and choice of time was not feasible, as all our days in Barcelona were all Scheduled for tours
Guide was super knowledgeable and went out of her way to explain everything. Would definitely recommend this tour!
Bobby was an EXCELLENT guide. He knew so much about the history of Madrid, and helped us add about 10 things to our “must see” list. 10/10 would recommend.
Cesar took us around Madrid for 2 hours and gave us a great insight to the city. He knew a lot of facts and we saw parts he hadn’t seen, some that allowed us to go back and visit on our own. You see much more of the city than just walking.
We had a wonderful time on our 1-hour tuk-tuk tour around Madrid! Our guide, Juan Pablo, was fantastic. We learned so much about the city’s history and really enjoyed hearing about his own experiences living in Madrid. It was a great way to see the city and learn more about it. Highly recommend!
We had a great time with our guide Alejandro. Very informative and almost gave us tips on places to visit. Thank you Alejandro
An absolutely fabulous introduction to the city on our first day! Gloria was so knowledgeable and very friendly and enthusiastic. We both really learnt a lot and the city is just so beautiful!
Totally worth the extra expense for 2 hours! Can’t recommend this enough
Loved our guide! He was very informative and we loved our tour. We saw all the sites and more than we even expected. Definitely recommend.
