Toledo has had a wall from the Romans, which had to be rebuilt by the Visigoth King Wamba in 674. The current wall is of Arab origin where we can find some Roman remains. King Alfonso VI, is granted the completion of the works of the wall in 1085, after reconquering the city. Toledo has always had a great wall, well known throughout its history, taking center stage its entrance and exit doors, such as the Puerta de Bisagra, the Puerta de Alfonso VI or the Puerta del Cambrón.
The Plaza de Zocodover is a square of the city of Toledo. It was the nerve center of the city during most of its history, acting as its main square. A part of it was designed by Juan de Herrera in times of the reign of Felipe II
The Alcázar of Toledo is a stone fortification located in the highest part of Toledo, Spain. Once used as a Roman palace in the 3rd century, it was restored under Charles I and his son Felipe II of Spain in the 1540s.

The Synagogue of Santa María la Blanca is a museum and former synagogue in Toledo, Spain. Erected in 1180, according to an inscription on a beam, it is disputably considered the oldest synagogue building in Europe still standing. It is now owned and preserved by the Catholic Church
The Iglesia de Santo Tomé is a church located in the historical center of the city of Toledo, and was founded after the reconquest of this city by King Alfonso VI of León. It appears quoted in the 12th century, as constructed on the site of an old mosque of the 11th century

Everything was perfect and the historical explanation and backdrop were very educational and learnt a lot about the history of both Spain and Toledo. Excellent day trip and an efficient way to capture all the highlights of Toledo, and leave the driving and guiding to someone else! Our guide Beatrice was fantastic, incredibly knowledgeable not just about the monuments and sights but more broadly about history, art and culture. This trip gets you to the highlights and leaves plenty of time for wandering on your own should you choose to. She managed a group of 33 in a bilingual tour, with thorough explanations, never rushing, and always soliciting questions from the group. Plan on a full day from 830am to 5pm.
Beatriz was an excellent guide! She has great energy and lots of knowledge about Toledo, which she shared at a good pace while keeping it fun. We enjoyed having the opportunity to stroll around Toledo and grab lunch and souvenirs on our own towards the end of the experience.
Beatrice did a fabulous job switching effortlessly from Spanish to English and presented professionally and with lots of personality. She also gave me a little extra attention due to my current handicap - walking with a cane. The tour was very well organized, was very informative and interesting. Alejandra was our driver. Wonder day in Toledo guided by the best tour guide in the world, Beatriz, with a fantastic bus driver, Alejandra! We had a fantastic lesson of Spanish history through the ages, beginning with Celtic, Roman, Visghotic, Muslim and Catholic period. Many questions and interesting responses. We could see tge city, visit the Catheral and the sinagogue Santa Maria la Blanca. We visited differant quarters of this city and its narrow streets. At the end we had a fantastic view of the city and the Tagus river surrounding the city on the hill with monumental Alcasar.
This trip is a great balance of your and exploration. We loved Beatrice, our guide. She was so knowledgeable and her explanations were really clear. She answered a lot of questions about the city and the different monuments we visited. She also ensured that we were comfortable on the bus, which was expertly driven by Alejandra. I truly enjoyed this excursion! Highly recommend.

I was expecting the toor would be English only. But it was English and Spanish with one guide. While the guide Beatrice was great, she has to repeat the same information twice in both languages and it was a bit uncomfortable.

I booked a guided tour in English only to find out it was in English and Spanish. Consequently, I didn’t absorb as much as I wanted because my focus was constantly interrupted. The trip start time and meeting spot were awfully confusing. The start time said 9:00 AM but when reading through the tour details I saw 8:15 and 8:30 so I phoned for clarification. I was told to be at the meeting spot at 8:15. My partner and I stood in the cold for 45 minutes while the guide checked attendance. That was way too long for attendance check and unfair to us. Not appreciated! The tour itself was okay but a little rushed.
Excellent tour. Guide very knowledgeable. Tour went very quickly. Would have liked to move a bit slower to have a more in depth look. Thought it was an English speaking tour. Tour was bi-lingual, both English and Spanish. I felt it was more difficult to absorb and follow with guide flipping languages.

Our guide was so amazing and cheerful. She gave us headphones so we could hear her clearly. She was knowledgeable. It was a hard tour for older people but she kept telling everyone when to watch their step and was playful. She knew about all the paintings we were shows, the architecture of the church and the synagogues we visited. 10/10. Bus was beautiful and clean.

We had a great time in Toledo. Our tour guide explained the history which was fascinating. The group was pretty large but we had ear pieces to hear what the tour guide was saying. I do wish we had a little bit more free time to walk the streets ourselves and do some shopping. We were able to eat lunch on our own which was nice. There is a bit of walking on uneven pavement but my elderly mom was able to do the tour as well.

Toledo was an amazing town to visit and quite close to Madrid. I felt the sites seen were spectacular however there could have been more or it didn’t need to take as long as it did. There was a lot of “free time” on a guided tour. And it was a very larger group for 1 guide: 45-50 people. So it caused things to drag out. I know this comment will be tour guide dependent, but our guide today was very difficult to understand in English. Overall, it was worth coming to see Toledo. Very interesting and beautiful city.

Toledo is a magical, medieval city only 1 hour by car/bus from Madrid. It has so much history and is full of beauty and magnificent architecture. I highly recommend this trip. And our guide was friendly and extremely knowledgeable.
