Itinerary
Toledo has had a wall from the Romans, which had to be rebuilt by the Visigoth King Wamba in 674. The current wall is of Arab origin where we can find some Roman remains. King Alfonso VI, is granted the completion of the works of the wall in 1085, after reconquering the city. Toledo has always had a great wall, well known throughout its history, taking center stage its entrance and exit doors, such as the Puerta de Bisagra, the Puerta de Alfonso VI or the Puerta del Cambrón.
The Plaza de Zocodover is a square of the city of Toledo. It was the nerve center of the city during most of its history, acting as its main square. A part of it was designed by Juan de Herrera in times of the reign of Felipe II
The Alcázar of Toledo is a stone fortification located in the highest part of Toledo, Spain. Once used as a Roman palace in the 3rd century, it was restored under Charles I and his son Felipe II of Spain in the 1540s.
The Primate Cathedral of Saint Mary of Toledo is a Roman Catholic church in Toledo, Spain. It is the seat of the Metropolitan Archdiocese of Toledo
The Synagogue of Santa María la Blanca is a museum and former synagogue in Toledo, Spain. Erected in 1180, according to an inscription on a beam, it is disputably considered the oldest synagogue building in Europe still standing. It is now owned and preserved by the Catholic Church
The Iglesia de Santo Tomé is a church located in the historical center of the city of Toledo, and was founded after the reconquest of this city by King Alfonso VI of León. It appears quoted in the 12th century, as constructed on the site of an old mosque of the 11th century

Incredible history of this once-important but unique city is worth travelling to see and to hear about from a guide.
We had a wonderful experience touring Toledo! The city is absolutely beautiful and filled with so much history and charm. Our guide Arantxa was very knowledgeable, friendly, and made the tour both interesting and enjoyable. We loved exploring the historic streets, learning about Toledo’s fascinating past, and seeing its incredible architecture. Everything was well organized and made for a memorable day. Highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Spain!
The tour was very satisfying. Everything was well organized, and I had a great experience. I would definitely recommend it!
It was just what we were looking for. The guide, Oscar, was careful to tailor to the needs of different groups , which in our case meant lots of free time.
Tour guide Arantxa, knowledgeable and caring about the group. Was a fun trip!
I don’t know what the tour operator was thinking with this tour. The morning started with the bus being too full. It took over an hour to get that sorted out. The bus had three different tours on it going to Toledo. A full day tour, half day tour, and a tour with train ride. This totaled almost seventy people. The tour company sent one tour guide for all of these tours. Nacho did the best he could but he simply could not provide a great experience for everyone. The group was so large that we could not fit on roads and could not take decent pics. The audio equipment kept failing if he got too far away. We were about halfway through and just quit the tour because it simply was horrible. We would rather walk around ourselves (which was more enjoyable). We met the group at the end of the day for the bus ride back home. The bus broke down for about five minutes when we arrived back in Madrid. An appropriate ending. The operator needs to make some changes to this tour. I do not recommend.
Fabulous city. Great tour led by Beatrice and driver Paolo. Visited Synagogue of St Mary the white, Large El Greco painting at St Tome and the Cathedral which has about 20 El Greco paintings in the Sacristry. We had about 2 hours free time then a drive round the perimeter of the city which was stunning. Lots of great information from Beatrice who was very kind and helpful.
Beatriz and Hadrian were excellent and Toledo, beautiful. Very unfortunate that the structure of the tour fundamentally prevented a fluid or enjoyable experience - Beatriz handled 3 different tours admirably - (no / some / all monuments) split into 2 groups (English / Spanish). A “full day walking tour” was broken into short tours punctuated by awkward pauses as the different groups broke off to attend monuments or mill around waiting. I would recommend just catching a bus to Toledo yourself and buying a wristband for €14 - or ensuring your booking is dedicated to your experience, as opposed to attempting to cater to 6 groups simultaneously. Reiterating - great guide + driver, impossible tour to juggle.
Sasha was extremely kind and gentle to show around . Pretty much in detail and took personal care of all elderly and kids of our group
Over great experience, very good guide very considerate, very good knowledge of the city.
It was a very complete experience of Toledo with visits to the city and the outsides. Would do it again!
Very good tour, the tour guide was very nice, happy and helpful
Wonderful day trip to Toledo, Spain. Rodrigo was excellent at explaining the highlights of the 3 different places we visited synagogue, the Greco painting and resting place, and the cathedral. I wish the group would have been smaller and for the guide to hold up a flag as he lead the group. It was difficult at times to spot him. The headset reception was spotted. I did appreciate that we had 2 free hours to eat and shop! That was a plus!
The tour was amazing! Our guide was fully informed, she was friendly and explained us everything about Toledo and it's history... We definitely recommend this trip!
Fabulous tour! Efficient and well organized. Enjoyed our experience immensely. Our tour guide Oscar did a great job explaining the history of Toledo and the significance of its many landmarks.
Bus trip there relaxing….Oskar narrated points of interest along the way to Toledo. Stefan, our driver, drove expertly there and back! We did the walking tour of the 3 Quarters (Jewish, Muslim and Christian) of the city and Oskar shared his knowledge of this beautiful and historic city!! Our trip from pick-up to drop-off was 8 hours…..just perfect, with time at the end to find our own lunch and wander a bit with maps as provided. Thank you for an enjoyable day!!
Our tour guide Oscar was very knowledgeable and gave a great tour with lots of history and descriptions around Toledo. The tour was a great length good amount of time being guided around the city and also a good length of time to explore on your own. Did not have to get up too early for the tour to begin but still felt we got the whole day experience. The bus rides were good, very relaxing. Overall, great tour and would recommend.
Arrancia was a very pleasant guide. She was informative and had a nice way of communicating I also liked her as everything was on time - leaving and coming back
My experience was really nice because of the fact that we got to see all landmark and got pointers on how the city or town was run and that we got breaks in between. But overall it was a very nice trip
Our tour guy Ms. Arantxa was great. Acknowledged and very friendly. We enjoyed the tour very much.
Our guide was Aranxa. She was very friendly and explained very well along the trip part of the history and geography of Toledo. Very recommended full day trip. Walking Toledo streets is magical. The view on the mirador is outstanding.
Fantastic tour, simple, well executed, Toledo was beautiful, 10/10 recommend
Excellent value for money on this full day trip from Madrid. We booked last minute the night before as it was not much more expensive than the train and included a walking tour. There was the option for entrance to the cathedral, synagogue and church but we decided not to do this. This worked well for us as gave us more individual time to explore the lovely Toledo! I would recommend this trip
Sarantha has been a wonderful tour guide. Knowledgeable and very friendly with great English. We had a mixed language group but she managed to convey information efficiently in both English and Spanish. The tour offered plenty of free time, more than three hours for lunch and individual shopping and site seeing. Driving to Toledo in the comfortable bus has been smooth and quick, approximately one hour from Madrid. Overall positive experience and easier than taking a train and seeing Toledo on our own.
The idea of figuring out the train overwhelmed us so we thought this would be an easier and more straightforward option from Madrid. And it was. The bus was very comfortable and clean. The group was sweet. The guide was very warm and friendly and talked in English the entire time. We chose to leave the group to wander on our own and everyone was cool about it. A very good way to see Toledo for the day. The perfect amount of time too.
I liked the idea of a day trip to Toledo but I think it was lacking substance. Also the fact that there is a "with tickets" or "without tickets" option is somewhat misleading: nearly everyone buys "with tickets", so if you don't it just means you're standing around waiting for everyone else to do the ticketed thing - or you buy your own ticket but then you are not permitted to join the group and follow along. It would be better to only offer "with tickets" if that's what most people opt for.
Upon arrival the key pad did not work to get into the apartment. After trying multiple times to enter we called the help line and there was no answer. I called back and they did answer on the second try although the line cut me off while talking to them twice. After 15 minutes we were able to get in with a physical key that they had in a lockbox. Throughout the stay the door would sometimes open with the code and sometimes with the key..sometimes the key would just turn around and around and not unlock the door. Also, the shower head was broken and the handle was just hanging there, so that was not a pleasant shower experience. Two other small items. There were no paper towels and we had to search for the utensils for 5 minutes...they were not in the kitchen but in the TV console table. Overall it was an okay experience but I would not stay here again. The location was perfect.
Wonderful journey couldn t say less. The trip was very smooth and the program easy paced. Our guide Aranxa was also very knowledgeable and friendly Great day to Toledo be remembered 👍👍
It was a great experience we did a lot of things in this very nice city. A big thanks for our guide arantcha she was so helpful and patient.
It was a very nice day and well organised tour. Our guide Aranxa was very helpfull. Clear explanation of the history of the city and its monuments.
Our guide arancia was highly professional in organisation, very knowledgeable, polite , kind and friendly . We had a fantastic day . However the organisation before the tour started and we waited for the bus to come was not nice at all. The guys from the company were not very friendly . A homeless guy who begged for money was more helpful, trying to make the lines for the bus , but he scared everyone who was coming , so it was very weird experience. Fortunately, then everything was pretty nice , we had a fantastic time , had a huge lunch in a local restaurant, made a lot of pictures , Aranchia , thanks again ; you are a gem for this tour company Toledo is really worth of visiting , highly recommended
Fantastic trip! Arancha is very beautiful guide, very professional! p.s. and at the start was been interesting homeless person , was like stuff member, Helped me get on and find my bus line
Our guide was terrific, very knowledgable of Spain history, friendly and smiling all the time. would recommend more free time to allow hike down to river and up to panoramic look out point.
Absolutely fantastic. The guide (Oscar) was amazing, extremely knowledgeable and engaging. A great day.
Breathtaking view of city & very impressive architecture. Excellent guided tour! Our guide was knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and made the experience truly unforgettable and we got to see all the highlights. Highly recommend!
Beautiful experience, wonderful tour guide! Walking across Toledo never seemed better! The tour guide was so learned and explained the history of the town quite wonderfully.
Great way to see Toledo our guide was very nice , knowledgeable & great personality Thanks for a lovely day out
I cancelled my trip before the requisite 24-hour timeframe as outlined in their policy with the help of an employee (done via Whatsapp as recommended by their employee) that was ignored and never responded to after several texts. I called their main phone line to inquire, and the said they were working on it. I sent a follow up email and never heard back. Don't expect your money back if you try to cancel a trip within the eligible timeframe. It's a scam.
This tour was simple amazing! Informative, friendly and a fine way to see Toledo. I thought the way it was organised and easily navigated from start to finish is credit to our guide Arantxa. So friendly and brilliant facts about this amazing city.
Our guide was very knowledgeable. Toledo is a must see. Simply stunning. About an hour from Madrid, easy transfer. Thanks so much
Toledo is worth seeing … sadly my guide, Oscar, was not entertaining! He had the knowledge but it was like he was reading so he lost me! To me a good guide has the knowledge but must also entertain people, ask questions at the beggining to know a bit of the persons in the group so everyone knows a bit of each other! He has to make the historical topic interesting and amusing to keep the people interested ! That is my opinion ! I
There are several great day trips you can take while visiting Madrid, and this is one of them. Toledo is the former capital of Spain and a historic city perched on a hill above the Tagus River, about an hour from Madrid. It's known as the "City of Three Cultures" because of its mix of Christian, Muslim, and Jewish heritage. It's a very picturesque city to visit, with winding streets, a city wall, and many centuries-old buildings. You can tell that Fun & Tickets has substantial experience running tours to the city, because everything ran like a well-oiled machine. Their tour ensures that you hit all the highlights of the city, such as Toledo Cathedral, the Synagogue of Santa María la Blanca (the former synagogue), the Church of Saint Tome, the Monastery of San Juan de los Reyes, and Plaza de Zocodover. You'll also have a small amount of free time at the end of day, but we found that it was hard to do anything else with the time allotted except for some brief shopping and a short walk to other parts of the city that we hadn't seen earlier in the day. While the city itself was amazing, I'd say what made our trip great was our guide, Beatriz. She was very friendly, knowledgeable, full of energy, and spoke excellent English. You could tell that she cared deeply that everyone on the trip had an enjoyable experience, and she worked hard to make sure that happened. She did a particularly great job at the Cathedral, where she managed to provide a great amount of information about the many sights while also keeping the tour moving at a reasonable pace and answering questions from the group. The only negative thing about our trip was that my family all agreed that marzipan (Toledo's traditional treat) wasn't as good as we had hoped! Otherwise, if you have the time, you should go, and I hope you get Beatriz as your guide.
Had a great day walking through Segovia and visiting the Cathedral, Jewish Quarter and Synagogue. Our guide was super energetic and knowledgeable (although she spoke quickly so sometimes was hard to understand). Wish we had had more free time to explore such a cute town.
There are no public bathrooms in Toledo. The tour was in both Spanish and English, not just English. There is free time for lunch. Our tour guide was excellent and answered all of our questions.
Our guide was very friendly and helpful and knowledgeable. She was also fun with a sense of humor. Since it was so hot, a hundred and three degrees fahrenheit, she made an extra effort to stay in the shade as much as possible, which was very helpful. If I could, I would come back when it cools off and do another tour with her.
Except for the heat, it was a wonderful trip. And we loved our four guide! She kept us cool and comfortable where she could he directed us how to use the shade into it? That's more advantage!
Toledo is a vibe and had great fun with the crew! It is full of culture and history and a must visit for everyone. I highly recommend
This tour packs a lot in! Our guide Arantxa did a great job – in three languages! Only quibble: Given the very limited time available for lunch, it would have been helpful to be pointed toward a few good options. Our choice turned out to be fast enough, but mediocre.
Sarancha led us to an excellent tour of Toledo If you don't wish to be bound by the group tour schedule, you can consider buying 2 way train tickets between Madrid Atocha and Toledo and the 7 monuments wrist band. The cost is almost the same. However you definitely miss out on the very informative commentary by the guide
