Itinerary
Enjoy and explore the city of the three cultures and the coexistence of the Jewish, Moorish and Christians for centuries.
The Primate Cathedral of Saint Mary of Toledo is a Roman Catholic and It is the seat of the Metropolitan Archdiocese of Toledo. The cathedral of Toledo is one of the three 13th-century High Gothic cathedrals in Spain and is considered, in the opinion of some authorities, to be the magnum opus of the Gothic style in Spain.
The Synagogue of Santa María la Blanca, originally known as the Ibn Shushan Synagogue is a museum and former synagogue. Erected in 1180, according to an inscription on a beam, it is disputably considered the oldest synagogue building in Europe still standing. It is now owned and preserved by the Catholic Church.
The Monastery of San Juan de los Reyes is an Isabelline style monastery built by the Catholic Monarchs in XV century. This monastery was founded by King Ferdinand II of Aragon and Queen Isabella I of Castile to commemorate both the birth of their son, Prince John and their victory at the Battle of Toro (1476) over the army of Afonso V of Portugal.
One of the best Jewish quarter all over the world
The Mosque of Cristo de la Luz is a former mosque and It is one of the ten that existed in the city during the Moorish period. The edifice was then known as Mezquita Bab-al-Mardum, deriving its name from the city gate Bab al-Mardum. It is located near the Puerta del Sol, in an area of the city once called Medina where wealthy Muslims used to live.

Such a beautiful place, but your did match the description. We only went 1 place on the walking tour with lots of time standing around listening to excessive information
This tour started off on a bus. When we got to Toledo a tour guide was supposed to be there waiting on us. We got there at 10 am. The bus driver had no idea where the tour guide was. People on the tour were calling Viator to find out why we were sitting on the bus with no tour guide. The walking tour that was supposed to start at 10 am didn't start until 11 am. The tour guide arrived at 10.50 for a 10 am tour. She said she had just got called to come last minute. The tour guide raced through the whole tour trying to play catch up. It was supposed to end at 11 am and then we were scheduled to leave Toledo at 2 pm. So we would have time to go for lunch and see Toledo on our own. Instead it ended at 12.30. We didn't end up eating lunch there as we thought we would walk around the town instead, This was the most disappointing tour I have ever been on with Viator. I feel I should get a refund for this.
The tour was very disorganized. We went there with a tour guide and got merged with 4 other tours. Then they randomly put us back to a bus and that bus has no air-conditioning and it was 40 degree outside. We had young kids and elderly. Don't join this tour unless you want a heat stroke. They didn't even give us a full refund saying they provided part of the service.
The views are amazing and Toledo is a must see but suggest you only do this if you are Spanish or don’t mind being treated like a second class citizen compared to the Spanish speakers who got priority at every turn, even jumping lines to get on the bus. The formal tour bit was too long for us. and included a mandatory and unadvertised stop of nearly one hour at a factory. There was too much hanging around and timings are very very loose ( “be back on the bus by 1:45 “ translated as “ the staff may get there by about 1:45 and they will keep you hanging around in the heat till we eventually left at 14:05. Net result we only had just over an hour of free time in Toledo - so if you want to actually see anything you need to do a full day
Jorge was excellent! I really enjoyed hearing him speak in both English and Spanish to his passengers. He was very efficient, caring and polite to everyone. He was very informative too. It was an enjoyable tour.
We took this tour because we wanted two things - to have a walking tour of Toledo and to have some free time to see the town by ourselves. While going there by bus, we were taken to a factory that manufactures swords to watch a 5 minute demonstration of sword hammering, 10 minutes of making damascene jewelry and 40 minutes in the souvenir shop. Nowhere in the description of the tour did they mention this stop, which had nothing to offer. Unfortunately it was waste of our time and we ended up with no free time in Toledo. Our guide of the walking tour was really nice but her english accent was a bit difficult to follow.
The guide was very nice and knowledgeable. A bit rush at the beginning but it was understandable because it was a big group and they wanted to make sure no one was left behind. After, they let us go out and about around the city and beautiful stores in the city. I really enjoyed my experience!
This is not a full day Tour ! I specifically took a full day tour because most people say the city is big and there is a lot to see, I was surprised when arriving to the city to know that the return bus was scheduled at 1:15 and there is no other bus after... I barely had the time to do small tour in the city.. I'm really disappointed
What a beautiful city Toledo is! Really had a great time walking around this UNESCO patrimony and learning its history. Had a personal tour guide that stay with us for almost two hours and were also able to visit iconic building (Greco’s paints are a most do).
Good, informative. Tour in two languages made it move slower but leader managed well with the situation. Would be nice to have more in depth information, but good overview.
Enrique from Express Toledo laid a basic foundation of Toledo knowledge during the ride there. Most of the people on our bus had not selected this version of the day trip, which included a walking tour of Toledo. Thus, our walking tour group was small (~10 people) and the guide Irene was fantastic. Both her Spanish and English were perfectly clear, and as a native of Toledo, she provided a superb insight into the town's history. The walking tour lasted about 2.5 hours, with Irene taking us to most of the major sites, as well as pointing out small details throughout the city that would otherwise go unnoticed and unappreciated. She also recommended a place to eat lunch. After the walking tour, we had the rest of the time free before the return to Madrid, and were able to make more educated choices about which sites of Toledo we wanted to go back to and pay admission to enter. Overall, a great value - would do it again.
The tour guide did not provide broad information. Her English was quite poor. She failed to inform us the museum we wished to see was closing in 30 mins so we missed the museum
After much consideration, we opted to take this tour to see Toledo. The price was hard to beat. The bus was over 30 minutes late leaving Madrid and things seemed a bit chaotic while we waited - a little more communication about why the bus was delayed would have been helpful. The guide offered a free drink at one of the restaurants at Toledo to make up for it (although the restaurant didn’t know it!). Anyway the tour guide in Toledo, Barbara, was great. Her ability to jump back and forth between English and Spanish was impressive and made the tour interesting for everyone. The ability to have some free time after the tour was great also - although Toledo is so beautiful that I would have loved to have had more time there (that missed half hour was truly needed). Oh and on the way back - my son left his phone on the bus - we were lucky enough to catch the bus as it rounded the corner and the bus driver was kind enough to stop and let us get it. Overall - you can’t beat the price and it’s definitely an easy way to see Toledo.
Take my word for it, always use Context Tours whenever possible. Their staff of docents are the best. Toledo's charm and history are on full display. Worth the 30 minute train ride from Madrid.
My husband and I spent the day in Toledo, Madrid. We took the train (a very short ride) to the beautiful city of Toledo. We wondered around taking pictures and taking in the sites. The Jewish neighborhood was especially cool to me.
We took a day tour to Toledo from Atocha, and enjoyed the trip tremendously. I recommemd the guided tour if it is your first time to Toledo. The guide will take you round the tiny streets of Toledo which will be quite hard to navigate yourself with a map. The advantage of the 2 hour guided tour is that you get familiarise with the narrow alleys so that when you can walk around yourselves for the remaining hours, you will not get lost. As for the guide itself, why i didn’t give the tour full marks is because i find the guide’s English very difficult to understand. For Spanish speaking customers, it will be ok for them as the guide is fluent and explains the full story. But when he switches to English, he continues from where he left off with the Spanish sentences, and this makes the English followers very hard to understand the full story, provided you know a little Spanish, and can pick up where he left off. If you only know English, most likely you will only hear half the story. Other than that, the tour is always on-time and everyone certainty enjoyed it. Tip: Do grab a quick lunch the moment you arrive in Toledo around 1pm, and before the guide starts or you will end up eating lunch at 3pm. Again, lunch in Spain is always late so its ok if your stomach can take it!
The walking tour was unfortunately bilingual- english and spanish. Thats why for me was sometimes boring because we were waiting for the spanish part to be finished and than came the english one. It is nonetheless a great way to see the city. Toledo is amazing!
Pretty good value overall. Nice bus to and from, bilingual guide with decent English. Great way to get an overview of the city. Enjoyed Toledo enough that we went back another day on our own.
This tour, run by Express Toledo, promises more than it delivers ... The meeting point, a central Madrid "tourist bus stop (in front of the "Apartaments Plaza España", nearest metro Plaza de España)" is a public park with no restrooms and "Comfortable round trip in a touristic bus" also lack any restrooms - be prepared for 2 1/2 hours touring with no comfort stops along the way and then being left in a public plaza and advised to go to the McDonalds to use their restrooms after purchasing some food. The bus driver, Jose, was the only rude Spaniard I met in my entire week in Madrid. The highlight of the trip was our Toledo guide, Ricardo, very knowledgeable and friendly. The promised "Documentary during your journey" was never provided because the guide on the bus failed to assure that the e-mail list made it to both sides of the bus - hmm... - don't they have our e-mails since that is how we signed up for the trip? And as a group, we were threatened twice to be on time or the bus would leave without us.
The city deserves a full day visit. We started with a very foggy, cold morning, that turned into a beautiful, sunny day by noon time. Our guide Benny, made our tour very educational, motivating and fun. His knowledge and friendly demeanor put us at ease immediately. I loved the tour of the Cathedral. I saw other tours only included the outside of it, but going in and listening to Benny explanation of the different things, made me appreciated the place even more. The Greco painting was amazing. The trip was on time, with no interruptions. We elected to have lunch on our own and followed Benny's recommendation on the restaurant. There are many choices and in my experience, food is great everywhere I went.
So after 1 1h bus ride, you go around with 1 stop viewpoint in height to take 2-3photos. Then stop in a "factory" of sword etc. and jewelry where the saleswomen are waiting for you to guard you and a guy gives 2 strokes of mass in a "forge" of shein🙄. Completely useless, a tourist catch and 40-45 minutes of lost. We finally arrive in the city for the visit , nice, but there you have 1 guide, very nice by the way, who will take you just up to the cathedral , 3 reviews , and here is 30 minutes max the tour on foot and not at all 1 hour as indicated when. After 1h max, you have to go alone, so you don't have time to visit anything, before taking the bus back. In short go to Toledo by yourself, by train (30 minutes from Madrid) and take the time to stroll , really visit all the treasures of the city worth it. Do not go through these gogo catches that sell you 1 guided tour of 1h + solo visit 2h which is arch false.😡
Toledo is a very nice place, I went on the express tour and the guides always kept an eye on everyone who made the tour very important to bring water and comfortable shoes.
I always had interest in knowing toledo, really impressive, the city, its beautiful attractions, everything was very good, the guide tried very hard, we could know many attractions.
The tour was simply a round trip by bus, but it caused some confusion in the schedule. Departure at 10:00, it takes 8 hours, so I thought I would be back in Madrid at 18:00, but I left Toledo at 18:00. It wasn't until I got on the bus that I was informed of it. I was completely late for the restaurant reservation. We ended up in Madrid at 19:15. If it was traffic, it would have been even slower, but we were lucky it wasn't. The departure time is also at 10:00, but it is around 10:20. It was pretty cold standing in a cold 3°C sky for half an hour. Toledo itself is a bit of a shame, as it's New Year's Eve and the facilities are closed in the afternoon and you can only see the cathedral. The cathedral is said to be the grand head temple of Catholicism in Spain, and its decoration is splendid. I also read the introduction of stained glass as something to see, but that was nothing at all. Cologne and Milan are more spectacular. "If you only have one day in Spain, go to Toledo," he says on the internet. (Japanese. I didn't know it was overseas.) But I couldn't understand that without doing enough research or asking for a guide, and I regret that I didn't do either.
Beautiful the two cities are worth visiting, we were just enough time and necessary to know the most important, I recommend it. Angie our guide was very warm and helpful.
Nothing has to do with what they promised in the shop of gran via, the guagua left with a long delay, they told us that if we wanted to return before, we would do it at four and a half, but they did not let us get in that guagua with excessive heat and also with a child of 5 years, the guide did not listen to us at any time. Total Chamuyero Service
Toledo is a charming city, beautiful landscapes, fine leather goods, detailed ceramics, canopy activities and pleasant restaurants.
WE RECOMMEND THIS FULL DAY TOUR TO TOLEDO. The tour included explanation on the bus (hand in hand with Alba a very nice girl who helped us understand the city), panoramic tour and 6 hours free in Toledo. Our student price was much cheaper than going by bird (trip we were recommended at first)
