My husband, dad and I did a Ribera del Duero tour with Ignacio and had a fabulous time. There was another family from Costa Rica on the tour & I wondered how it would work with guests who spoke 2 different languages. I needn’t have worried - Ignacio gave us the history of Spain & wine in Spain in both Spanish & English! We visited two wineries & they were so different but both produced amazing wine. Ignacio translated for us at the first winery & actually led the tour & tasting at the second winery. It was a long day & we were exhausted when we got home, but it was worth it! We’ll definitely use Ignacio for our next wine tour!

Itinerary
Ribera has been considered the best area region of the world by The Wine Expectator in the year 2012. Ribera means “side of the river”. We are going to try to make you have a beautiful day visiting at least 2 wineries (maybe 3 if we are lucky). We will depart from Madrid at 9,30 h and we will arrive to the first winery 2 hours later. From there you will go to have lunch (not included in price of the tour). There are so many restaurants where you can taste the traditional Castilian food. This tour is about wine but we do not forget that there is a beautiful gastronomy on the area. In the afternoon we will visit a second winery, different from the first. We might visit a third winery depending on how fast we arrive to the first winery or the time we spend in the different activities. We will try on the way to the wineries to show as much as we can in order to make you understand that Ribera del Duero is very good wine but also many other things. (Gastronomy, landscapes, maybe a castle, history, underground caves, etc). We are getting payed for this activity but our true prize is that at the end of the tour you are 100 % satisfied. This is our goal. We are happy when we get it. And our experience says that most of our clients are satisfied on how hard we try to make you have a beautiful day. We will leave you at the same place where we started at 20 h.

What a wonderful day we had. Ignacio, our driver and tour guide was very knowledgeable about history and wine making. He made our day very memorable. We visited two wineries and both had excellent wines. The restaurant suggestion was very good too. Thank you for a fantastic day.
it was an incredible tour. Our guide, Ignacio, was very knowledgeable and very informative. He went out of his way to make our tour a lasting experience.
The tour was great and versatile. We were introduced about Spanish history that was interesting. Especially the lunch restaurant was great experience with excellent food and surprisingly caves. The wineries had quality wines in their tastings. Quick visit for third winery had some nice art and the building had amazing views and architecture.
Very good wine tour and educational. Guide was very knowledgeable and flexible to our interests and questions.
The trip to the wine region of Ribera del Duero was a lot of fun. Our tour guide, Ignacios, is very knowledgeable about Spanish wine and history of Spain. With his fluent English, we have learned a lot on the way to the wineries. We stoped by 2 wineries but we particulaly like the fisrt winery(ValSotillo) we visited. The owner gave us a tour to this huge cave with over a thousand barrels of wine in it. It was impressive! The highlight of course is the wine tasting after the tour. We tasted some great bottles of Tempranillo. They were so delicious. It's a small winery and their wines are hard to find in US so we ended up buying some bolltes and have the winery delivered them to home(for a fee). I can't wait to receive in 4 weeks. Overall, this is a well organized tour and is a great getaway for a day outside of Madrid. I am glad we booked this trip.
What a perfect day in the Ribera del Duero wine region! Ignacio picked us up from Madrid right on time and drove us out to the region. He took us to two wineries, a breathtaking castle, and a fabulous lunch. He was so kind and full of information about the wines and the historical significance of the area. If you're looking for a day trip from Madrid, don't look any further. This one is the best! Thank you Ignacio for such a great experience!
My husband and I have taken several winery tours around the world and this tour was by far the best either of us has experienced. More than just wine tasting, the tour provides insight into the process for a few wineries having different business approaches. Adding to the wine experience is the beautiful scenery and fantastic meal. Ignacio is a wonderful guide and goes the extra mile to provide a great experience. We highly recommend this tour.
We had a fantastic day on this tour! Our guide Ignacio was full of passion for both Spain and wine. He kept us constantly entertained with his funny stories full of Spanish history and facts. A visit to a great winery, a fantastic lunch, and time to enjoy beautiful Segovia were all made even better by having such a warm, friendly and passionate guide who did everything possible to make sure we had a great experience. We highly recommend booking with winebus.
This tour was an excellent addition to our Madrid experience and allowed us to explore additional areas outside of the city! From start to finish, everything was well-organized, and we experienced the perfect balance of history, sights, and amazing wine. Our guide, Ignacio, was fantastic—so knowledgeable and personable, sharing fascinating insights into Segovia’s history. The winery was an excellent first stop (and included a full tasting plus snacks). Next up, Segovia's ancient aqueduct, majestic cathedral, and fairy-tale Alcázar are truly amazing. We had just enough time at each site. It was the ideal blend of culture, history, and wine. Five stars all around!
We had a wonderful time on our wine tour with Ignacio and highly recommend the experience. This was a highlight of our time in Madrid! We traveled in a small group and were able to visit 3 different wineries in Ribera del Duero. Ignacio has great relationships in the industry and is very knowledgeable about both the history in the region and wine. We learned so much, tasted great wines, and had the opportunity to visit 3 very different wineries. We also had an amazing lunch where we were able to tour the underground caves of the restaurant. We learned so much about the history and the food was delicious. Ignacio provided us great recommendations so I recommend following them if you are able to. Ignacio speaks English very well and his passion shines through. He is also very funny. You will walk away having tasted great wine, great food, and with knowledge and appreciation for Ribera Del Duero. One last note - I recommend being flexible with the time you need to be back in the city since it may allow more time for additional activities on the tour. You may not even be hungry for dinner, but if you have a dinner reservation it’s likely best to plan a late one.
We had a great time experiencing the Ribera Del Duero wine region! My husband and I love trying out new wines during our travels and this was a great way to experience the spanish country side as well. The history behind some of the wineries we visited was amazing being able to go into the caves made the experience even more interesting. Ignacio our tour guide was so helpful in creating the perfect day for us. We received a lot of history behind Spain and the wines. We also got to experience a delicious lunch that we would not have found otherwise!
First and foremost, you must do this tour, it’s a perfect way to spend the day to learn about Spain. When the description says unforgettable it truly is truly unforgettable. The wealth of knowledge, the kindness, and the willingness to serve you is unmatched like I’ve ever seen before. I would recommend spending the extra money for the private tour as you will truly get an experience like never before. I wouldn’t want to be in a group unless you are an introvert, but being engaging with the tour guide truly allows you to learn so much.
My husband and I recently did a Ribeira del Duero tour with Ignacio and 3 other lovely people. I had read the glowing Winebus reviews and it sounded like exactly the kind of experience we were looking for. We have been on all kinds of tours over the last several years and ALWAYS enjoy the personal, small group tours the most. Ignacio knows his wine regions and speaks of them with passion! The places he took us were wonderful and the owners were warm and welcoming. Ignacio drove so we could enjoy the wine without worry (and take naps in between stops, if necessary;) The lunch was delicious and his recommendations on dishes to order were excellent. It was just a unique and wonderful experience all around. We will definitely book another wine tour with Winebus when we return to Madrid. Thanks for taking such good care of us, Ignacio!
We were visiting Madrid for a few days and we booked this trip last minute because we wanted to visit some wineries in the Rivera Del Duero Region. We read some great reviews about Ignacio and this trip up north and we wanted to see if our experience would be just as wonderful. Boy did he meet all of our expectations and more. We ended up being the only two so we had our own private tour! On the way up north Ignacio gave us a detailed history of Spain which we really appreciated. We then stopped at an old bodega and had a great glass of wine. We went to our first winery called Val Satillo, and was pleasantly surprised because we had tasted that wine several times in the United States and it was one of our favorites. It was wonderful to be able to see where this was made and also to see the intricate wine caves below. He then took us to lunch at a busy restaurant serving traditional food and it was very tasty. After lunch, we went down to the caves. What a surprise to see all these intricate caves that are right below restaurant. Then we went to the last winery where they knew him so well that he was the one touring us around and did the wine tasting himself. Oh, and along the way we were able to stop at a beautiful castle overlooking the region. It was a very long day but well worth it. Please don’t hesitate to book this tour with Ignacio!
Our guide Ignacio gives us the best experience in the trip. At the start of the trip, he already brought us to a tapas bar to try some local food and wine. Then he brought us to 2 very different wine yard for a very unique experience. (One traditional with caves, one modern with lots of help from machinery) We are very happy with all his arrangement. And… the lunch place is really nice! Highly encourage Everyone to join this!
Excellent guide with great stories and food recommendations! Ignacio even made a few extra stops to show us some great views and interesting things like an ancient wine press machine and a giant oven for roasting lamb. Very engaging and informative tour, and my whole family enjoyed it!
Ignacio gives you a peek into the glamourous world that is wine in the Ribera region. Within the first few minutes you can tell he is a man deeply passionate about wine and the people who produce it. A man with a deep understanding and appreciation of wine. He strives to give you a truly unforgetable experience. Words simply aren't enough to explain the journey he will take you on because he will leave you wordless at every stop. Could not recommend more.
My friends and I thoroughly enjoyed the outing to Ribera del Duero. Ignacio picked us up early and he started sharing the history of Madrid and onwards on the wine making and different styles between RDD and Rioja. We visited 2 vineyards ie Bodegas Valsotillo and Bodegas El Lagar de Isilla, and had lunch at the El Lagar restaurant. Firstly the wines at both bodegas were lovely, and they gave generous tasting pours. Lunch at the restaurant was excellent! Do order the lamb cutlets as it just melts off the bone. My friends still talk about the best lamb dish they had in this trip. Ignacio made the trip very engaging and he was very knowledgeable on the history and wine making techniques. Would highly recommend this trip to others.
It provided an in-depth exploration of the entire wine-making journey, starting from grape harvesting and meticulous selection, progressing through filtering and fermentation, to the wine barrel resting period, and concluding with the bottling process—all accompanied by insightful and detailed explanations. The experience included a delightful tasting session featuring seven or eight exceptional red and white wines. The tour guide,Ignacio, was exceptionally fluent in English, offering a comprehensive overview of the rich history of Spain and its intricate connection to the world of wine. I wholeheartedly recommend this tour guide for an enriching and enjoyable winery experience.
We were a party of four and we were fortunate to be the only ones with Ignacio. This was the highlight of our one week stay in Madrid. We travelled comfortably in a nice van up to the Ribera del Duero wine country. Ignacio was entertaining and educational sharing Spanish history and the history of the wine in the area. We visited 2 wineries with different methods and approaches to wine making and learned SO much. We also had a delightful lunch in Aranda de Duero with authentic cuisine where we sampled and shared various dishes. It was a long and lovely day and adventure. I highly recommend this tour. Ignacio is a delight. He's kind, competent, and thoughtful.
Lisa was the best. She took her time with us, showed us everything we needed to see. Recommended us in every situation when we needed advise. And most importantly, she went out of her way to consistently make sure we were having a great time and if we needed anything at all. First class service throughout. I would recommend this tour to everyone I know. Especially if you enjoy a tour guide who loves what she does and will make you feel the same.
Oh my gosh, what a treat. So much information and a lovely guide Ignacio who made us feel so comfortable on the drive and gave so many stories and understood the terroir and wine history that it came alive. We booked this based on other travellers reviews and just so happy to have done so. The lamb in the restaurant was Devine and felt so looked after throughout the day. Would recommend in a heartbeat. Rob and Jane Jones…….thank you Ignacio xx
Honestly I think this is one of the best guided tours I’ve ever had. Ignacio was extremely professional and so knowledgeable. I think what made it so good was that you can see the passion that Ignacio has for great wine, great food, history, and passion and love for his country. Definitely recommend using him and his company for a tour!
What a wonderful tour to Ribera del Duero. Our favorite wines are from this region. Our guide Ignacio was very knowledgeable of the history of the Bodegas we visited. Truly a great experience!
Excellent guide with a very memorable experience at 2 wineries. We also had a spur of the moment visit to Castillo de Curiel with magnificent views, beautiful chapel and rooms. Lunch at an old water mill with authentic cuisine. Highly recommended!
We had a lovely time with Ignacio who was happy to share Spain’s history on the ride to the wineries. We had an incredible couple visits learning about the history of wine making in the area, the wine was fantastic and both wineries were very hospitable. We had a nice lunch at a local restaurant where Ignacio ordered a bunch of traditional items for us to try. Certainly a highlight of the trip. It’s a long day but it didn’t seemed rushed and would highly recommend.
Our tour guide Ignacio, he arrived on time, he was very enthusiastic and knowledgeable and kept us entertained during during the trip, we visited two wineries we loved the VallSoltillo winery own by the same family for generation their wines were amazing! The region is beautiful and we got more than we were expecting! Had a fantastic time
Ignacio was incredibly informative and fun. He took us to 2 wonderful wineries where he clearly knew the folks and the winery. We took a trip inside 400 year old wine caves that was a once in a lifetime experience!! Ignacio also took us to a local restaurant that was amazing (as evidenced by how packed with locals it was). All during the trip, Ignacio shared his knowledge of wine and wine making. We learned a lot and spent a great day. Would highly recommend!
Great little day trip from Madrid up to Ribera wine country and Segovia. Tour guide was super friendly and knowledgeable about the history of the places we visited as well as Spain in general. Wine was fantastic, and Segovia was a sight worth seeing.
This is my first time writing a review but after spending a few days in Madrid and Barcelona, I wanted to experience the other Spain - outside big cities. My Ribera del Duero tour with Ignacio was a perfect escape. What a pleasant trip! Ignacio was punctual, professional, knowledgeable, and so fun to spend a day with. He adjusted my tour to accommodate my interests and curiosity. We stopped at many magical places - where no foreign tourists would go - and I experienced great food and wine. Ignacio made the trip so authentic and immersive. I am beginning to understand and appreciate the authentic Spanish culture and history. I have been on many popular tours during my travels but Winebus is truly a gem. I highly recommend the experience. And now I plan to bring the rest of my family in the Fall for another tour with Ignacio.
Guide was very knowledgeable of the area and winerys. Threw in a few "extras" such as stopping at a place to have a glass of wine on the way and went to a castle at the end of the day. Highly recommend this tour. There were 5 of us plus the guide so the group size was nice.
An excellent tour with an excellent guide! Winebar was truly a beautiful way to learn about Spanish wine, history and culture. We had a fabulous time at two different wineries enjoying so much delicious wine (and excellent food). Ignacio was a great and very knowledgeable guide whose English and translations were excellent. This was a highlight of our trip.
I booked this wine tour as a gift to my husband for our anniversary. It was the best wine tour we’ve ever had. The amount of knowledge I gained with regards to Ribera de Duero wine production and its rich history is priceless. Our guide and hosts are THE BEST!!!!
After being let down two days before our wine tour by Gourmet Madrid as we were only a small group of three, (they were happy to take us but with an additional payment of €100} we booked on this alternative wine tour with Winebus guided by Ignacio who was happy to take us. We had a wonderful day, visiting three bodegas and enjoying an amazing lunch in a beautiful restaurant in Aranda del Duero. Ignacio was a perfect host and guide with an incredible wealth of knowledge about the Ribero del Duero región. He did everything he could to ensure we had a memorable day, returning to Madrid late in the evening armed with an increased knowledge of wine production and several bottles to take home!
Outstanding very knowledgeable tour guide. Got to see many additional historical places not advertised.
This was the most fun wine tour I have done, and I have done many all over the world. Ignacio knows a great about Spanish history and Spanish wine. The wines we tried are remarkable and you will leave with a great appreciation for Ribera tempranillo! I find myself searching for it at home and thankfully these wines are available in the USA because they are great! The food and wine was amazing. This trip is worth your time and money! I actually did another tour with Ignacio two days later because it was so much fun.
The tour is really nice and definitely worth the money. Every winery has something special by itself. Our tourguide Enrique was the best he knew everything about the winery's and also everything around the place. Our long drive in the beginning of the tour to the first winery was not boring at all. He explained a lot about the winery's, culture and history of Madrid and Ribera del Duero. I wish everyone to have Enrique as your tourguide.
Ignacio is the best tour guide ever. 100% recommended. You are not going to regret it. If you don’t know much about wine you are truly getting knowledge for you to take home.
Very friendly and knowledgeable tourguide. At all times while he was driving and at the stops, we felt very comfortable . The value for the deal was average . He seemed unprepared arriving early to a winery. Traffic must have been lighter than normal, so when we arrived at the 1st vineyards, they were not ready for us. Then when we had a "tasting " , it was rushed. I appreciate he got us in as it was possibly closed and we bought the group of 6 a nice bottle of wine to taste. But we had to drink it fast which was not enjoyable. I was tempted to rate it 3 star based on this as its not professional to ensure the locations were open and ready for us. This was likely an additional stop he made which was nice as the itinerary was for 2 wineries, so it is appreciated, but almost waste of time. It could have been better utilized possibly visiting that town we had an exceptionally nice lunch. In 5 star tours, the guide pays for the meals for us. It was mentioned before the food was not included, just a little point to make sure you budget yourself or group to a restaurant expense. The wine tastings were very good in locations 2 and 3 which saved the day. Plus the tours of the vineyards and even underground caves are going to be quite memorable. Would I recommend Winebus? Possibly. At the price point, maybe I would like to spend 20eu less . The return back to Madrid, he drove us to where we wanted to be dropped off which was wonderful, saving on a taxi or metro back to our hotels.
Excellent tour and tour guide. It gives you the opportunity to know in depth the spirit of Ribera del Duero through its wineries.
My mom and I did the wine tour a few weeks ago and it was amazing! The two wineries we visited had some of the best wines we had ever tasted, and we learned so much from the makers themselves. This is highly recommended if you have a day to spare while in Madrid! It will quickly become a trip highlight without a doubt. Truly an unforgettable experience. Felt incredibly safe in their protocols, and the small group we were in added to that. The guide Ignacio was wonderful and incredibly knowledgeable about history and the wines, and you can definitely tell he likes his job. I mean who wouldn't!
The guide Ignacio was wonderful! I don’t drink wine , I booked tour because my husband loves wine and I had a great time! I recommend this tour …you will be fascinated by the scenery, history and food !! Amazing!!
Excellent tour. Highly recommended. Ignacio, the tour guide is exceptional. Very knowledgeable and extremely attentive. The best wine tour in the Riviera Del Duero area.
Magnificent. Guide was history and wine scholar. Such contagious passion for his country and wine and vineyards. Wonderful gentleman. Stepping into the castle was a bonus. Savored delicious gourmet lunch . The mountains and countryside provided experience outside of Madrid of Felix’s of Happy sunflowers and vineyards. Save some room in your suitcases for some bottles of the wines you taste.
Ignacio was so gracious, fun and flexible. We were the only two booked but he didn’t cancel on us like other companies! He took us on a private tour of the three wineries, doing a great job of highlighting the industry and how these three were very different. We had amazing wines and a lovely lunch in Aranda del Duarte with his guidance on great things to sample. He took us to two castles as a bonus and we sat and had a class of purchased wine on the last one! A lovely way to end the day! Book with Winebus - he will take care of you!
Great experience. Ignacio was very focused on my enjoyment and did all he could to have it be a great experience. He is very knowledgeable about Madrid and the wine region and loves sharing! On top of the core winery experiences, Wine tasting in a castle was anIncredible experience… one of a kind!
Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable. We had a private tour first to Sotillo de Ribera, lunch at El Lagar de Isilla, then to the El Lagar winery. Sotillo is charming and a must see. Exploring the caves and the way wine used to be made. The food at El Lagar was not only plentiful, but excellent. One of the best tours!
We had a fabulous day trip from Madrid into the Ribera del Duero wine region. Our guide, Ignacio was full of stories which he told on the almost 2 hour ride to the region. We stopped at 3 completely different types of wineries--one huge one owned by a corporation with a beautifully architected main building, one small one employing cavesfor the fermenting process and storage, and one that had innovative methods and strong marketing strategies, incorporating a restaurant and hotel into the experience. In each, we got tastings as well as explanations on their production methods of wine. This was a great way to sample the different methods each winery employed while also sampling their output. Also, Ignacio took us to an excellent restaurant (cost not included in the tour so we were not restricted in what we ordered) that was owned by one of the wineries and was actually sitting on top of the original caves that housed the wine bottles from the winery. Ignacio was very attentive to our preferences for food and wine and how long we wanted to spend at each stop. Our day was actually longer than we had paid for, because Ignacio wanted us to get the full experience and have fun while learning about the region, its history and culture.
One of the highlights of our trip to Madrid. Ignacio was a great guide, knowledgeble and dynamic. Highly recommended
