Sam was amazing! The foods stops were one of a kind. We learned lots about the food and the community. When you are in Madrid this is a must!

Itinerary
First up on your Madrid food tour, you’ll unlearn everything you thought you knew about churros—and discover the real origins of chocolate—at a beloved neighborhood café serving up the best version of both in all of Madrid. (Note: Churros stop only available on morning tours. If you select the 5 pm tour, you'll instead visit a popular tapas bar to try two beloved local tapas and a beer.)
Next, you’ll set off to the next stop in many madrileños’ morning routines: buying bread for the day. At a tiny storefront managed by a passionate young baker from northern Spain, you’ll learn why good bread in Madrid can be surprisingly hard to come by—and taste for yourself why this spot is the exception, in the form of their delicious homemade chorizo-stuffed rolls.
From there, it’s off to the market! You’ll explore the vibrant Mercado de Antón Martín as locals from all walks of life do their daily grocery shopping. Along the way, you’ll stop at a variety of stalls to taste their finest products: flavorsome olives, cured meats, locally sourced produce, and Spain’s very own liquid gold: extra virgin olive oil. You'll also sip Spain's favorite aperitif red vermouth and learn why it's special and when to drink it. This is an experience most visitors to Madrid will never have, and a fascinating way to experience local life.
After tasting your way around the market, you’ll make your way to an unassuming neighborhood deli with a surprising past. It was here that the owner’s father held clandestine meetings to plot against Spain’s newly established dictatorship in the 1930s! Today, that same space is where you’ll sit down for a mini tasting of cheeses from around Spain. As you snack, you’ll discover the origins of each product.
The only thing you should eat around Plaza Mayor is your next bite: a calamari sandwich. You can find it almost anywhere in the surrounding area, but today you're trying the best one around, with calamari rings cooked to perfection in light, crunchy batter. Enjoy it standing outside the bar, just like the locals do.
You’ll finish your Madrid food tour in Plaza Mayor, Madrid's central square, that's been at the heart of the city's most important events—past and present.

Mitzi was our tour guide and shared lost of Madrid history together with info on the food. We chocolat with purp, olives, ham, and calamari sandwich. We don’t drink alcohol so Mitzi got us bottled water and sodas. Who Dey.
Mitzi was great, very educational and fun to learn from.
Mitzi was the best! My family took this tour and even the kids tried most of the stops. Was the perfect length and Mitzi gave us lots of great tips to eat the rest of our trip. 5 stars. Highly rec'd.
Mitzi was great! Very informative, kind, and great energy. She kept our entire group entertained, with a wide variety of people we joined. Thank you Mitzi for making our first day in Madrid a great one!
Mitzi was great! She shared so much background on Madrid and was fun trying all the food
History lesson with delicious meals that I never would have found!
Mitzi was phenomenal, easy to understand, and gave great historic anecdotes as well as tips for spotting authentic restaurants and the best places for shopping. The portions were perfect, enough to really taste a bit of each dish while still being able to try a whole bunch of different things within the 3 hours. There were only 10 of us in the group, small enough to chat with everyone and easy to navigate through the busy streets and popular squares. I’d recommend to those who are foodies or want to try the cuisines from a local’s perspective.
Our tour guide Mitzi was friendly, fun, and very knowledgeable. She explained so much of the food history in Madrid, with great enthusiasm. The foods were excellent, with an amazing variety of different types of foods to enjoy. They also offered alternatives if there were items that didn’t work for you due to food allergies. She was also helpful in giving tips on where to go and what to see around the city. The tour is well worth the price! My only regret is we did this the last day we were here instead of the first day! We learned so much on this tour. Thank you Mitzi!!
Had a really enjoyable morning food tour with Mitzi. Very informative about spanish food history.
Our guide, Mitzy, was terrific! She gave us history of the area along with the history of the food we tasted. Great variety and loved the food market. Highly recommend this tour!

Fantastic authentic and delicious! Liliana was great and the food was all select, local and just right. Would recommend.
Dani was so incredibly friendly and engaging. His knowledge of the specific area and of food in general was so fun and smart. About two hours in El barrio de las letra, we tried so many tasty bites which left us in a great spot to explore the city until dinner
Danny was amazing!! He knew so much about food and was clearly so passionate!! He chatted and had relationships with all the vendors! Truly could not have asked for a better experience!
We had the best time doing this tour! Our guide, Yvonne, was extremely knowledgeable and made the tour super informative. We also had the best food we’ve had in Madrid while doing this tour, would highly recommend!
Yvonne was amazing. Lots of history as well as food and places.
Rosita was fabulous! We tried so many foods, and saw parts of Madrid I would never have seen.
Samantha was my guide and quite unusually I was one of only 3 guests. Samantha was knowledgeable, enthusiastic and lovely. A great assortment of stops and snacks and so much history.
Insightful tour and fantastic food. Mitzi was a fabulous tour guide and made the tour a memorable experience
We had a fantastic food tour with Mitzi! She was engaging, funny, full of knowledge and stories. The food was excellent and we learned so much about Madrid food and history.
We had the most amazing time on this trip! Our tour guide Arantxa was so informative and fun and made the whole experience so worth while. The food was great and the culture in Madrid is completely unparalleled!
Our experience walking around Madrid and trying a variety of different foods was amazing! I would highly recommend Daniel as he was very knowledgeable and kind throughout our tour.

Wonderful experience with Dan. Fun friendly and knowledgeable.
Fabulous knowledge of the details of the food and history. Plus all the tastings were excellent! Danny was a perfect guide - friendly and knowledgeable of the food, neighborhoods-‘d culture.
My husband and I had a great morning on this tour with Aafke. Meetup in the morning couldn’t have been more convenient for us, as it was a two minute walk from our hotel. We enjoyed all the foods we sampled at each stop. Our favorite part was probably walking through and experiencing the more traditional market. In this tour, you get a good experience sampling classic tapas and staples. They were also very accommodating and thoughtful with my dietary restrictions due to pregnancy. Was very appreciative of this and still being able to participate!
Very informative, lots of food. Aafke excellent guide
Samantha was an engaging guide. We 11, including 2 children, already olive lovers, had a lovely 3 hours. Included with the olives was an intro to Madrid vermouth, that , in fact I’m sipping now. A friendly group from Denmark, Israel, EAU and Canada. We learned which ham we preferred and not to squeeze the fruit at the market, just ask which one would be perfect for ones recipe. 5 stars!
Javi took us on a wonderful journey through some of the staple foods of Spain and was a wealth of knowledge. Highly recommend the tour
In Viator for Madrid Ultimate Spanish Cruise Tour, under the meeting point I clicked the green box of Get Directions then used copy address link to copy address to Google Maps. It turned out a wrong address was copied to google map. My husband and I wind up to be at a different place so we couldn’t make the trip. We requested for refund and was rejected. We suggest Viator or the host take a look at their website verify copy address link operates properly before sent out to customers. We are tourists in Madrid, copy address link to a wrong address could make life very difficult.
Liliana was awesome, great conversationalist and many fun facts. The amount of food was great, we were definitely stuffed by the end of it.
Liliana was fantastic. Never felt bored or hungry but didn’t feel like it was too much food either. The history was great and not too much. Very informative would absolutely recommend
Loved the whole experience. The guide Liliana was very informative and nice
Liliana was amazing, food stops were well coordinated, would recommend!
Our guide, Jose, was a food officiando. He told us everything about the food we had, what region it came from, its history and why the Spanish eat it. We also had some drinks which were unique and very tasty. He was a wonderful guide. The market was particularly great. Just the right amount of time, walking and food, though we were stuffed after finishing. We had a great time.
Great tour. Sam was friendly, informative and overall fantastic! We appreciate all her insights and advice for eating our way through Madrid. Our plan is to go back to a few spots today! Highly recommend!
Arantxa was amazing! She shared so much historical knowledge and showed us amazing and very personal places to eat. She was able to knock off a majority of madrid bucket list within three hours.
Arantxa showed us so much of city during our tour. She had so much information and knowledge to share. She made the tour so much for us we can't thank her enough!
Delicious, guide was wonderful!
This food tour was great! Our tour guide, Javier, was fantastic! He introduced us to tasty bites that Madrid is known for. We walked through charming streets and enjoyed food, conversation with the other guests, and learned about food and a bit of history from our trusted guide. Highly recommend!!
The original tour I booked cancelled but Devour tours was able to accommodate me last minute. Sam provided exactly what I was looking for in a tour, including local business and the rich history of Madrids food culture. She provided a guide for recommendations for the rest of our trip.
Everything was great!! She was very knowledgeable
Samantha was a wonderful guide. She has a contagious enthusiasm for Spanish food and Madrid. She explained the history of the food, where in Spain it is produced, and how and when it is eaten. We had delicious dishes and drinks along the way. It was a fantastic experience in Madrid.
We had a wonderful time with our guide Montse. She took us to some very special food places that have been around for a long time with lots of history. We felt like locals. We met some very friendly proprietors and got to sample their delicious food. I’m not an adventurous food eater but I was comfortable trying what was offered. Montse is a great and engaging communicator. She explained the stories behind the food which gave the eating experience more meaning.
