Maybe you should try to explore Madrid by yourself and order food instead of pay someone $150 to eat some olive, 3 bread with fish, a piece of potato bread a soda and a bottle water.

The guide Elge was phenomenal. Interesting and interested. Polite and knowledgeable. However, regarding Viator, was not able to use the Rewards earned to apply to the cost. Was on chat with agent for more than an hour. Grueling. Earned another $9 with this tour giving total rewards $28. Leaving to go home tomorrow, And no travel plans in near future.
What a wonderful way to experience Madrid! Íñigo was a wealth of historical knowledge, but it was his kindness and warmth that made this walking food tour so special. It felt like exploring the city with a friend or family member. The food was out of this world—authentic, delicious, and such a highlight of our visit. Highly recommend!
The overall experience was disappointing. We had done several tours as this and this was very poor from the guide and the food. We had the 6 tapas tasting and the guide would provide one to share not even a full tapa. She said it would be so we could try more things but did not provide additional items so in reality it was not the case. The last of the tapas was even going in to a turrón shop an having the feee samples - which shouldn’t even count as one as we could have done that ourselves. Beside the limited food to taste the guide went on about her strugglers and little to say about the food or places we were visiting.
Spent a lovely 3 hours with Patricia exploring the Chueca neighborhood and its tapas bars. The locations and tapas she selected were all excellent and we learned much about Madrid and the neighborhood.
Very nice experience. Authenticity local establishments. Guide was excellent, very friendly. Food was delicious and the wine fantastic.
This was a fantastic private tour. Marianissa was super knowledgeable, friendly, and took us to some great hidden gems that we otherwise wouldn’t have found. We were a bit jet lagged but she kept us moving and upbeat. By the end of the tour we were happily full - great food, drinks, and an introduction to Madrid! Perfect for day 1 of our trip!
We booked this towards the end of our stay in Madrid, after we had already eaten quite a few tapas dishes. However, it was nevertheless a good experience. Our guide, Maria, was very affable and was put on the spot as neither of us drink alcohol. I don’t think we appreciated that it was actually 3 food dishes and 3 drinks, so this threw her out a bit. We started at the San Anton markets, where we had the best potato frittata we had ever tried, then a reasonable walk for battered cod and cod croquettes, then a short walk for some churros. Maria pointed out some landmarks on the way and answered some of our general questions about Spanish culture and places we wanted to visit. My only recommendation would be to make sure you enter your dietary restrictions (e.g. no alcohol, or other restrictions) in the comments box (the booking form does say to do this….) when you book so that your guide can modify the places and dishes you experience.
This was a wonderful experience. Ask for Ignacio! He was such a great guide and we had such a great time with him. We loved the food and the stories and all the culture that was shared.
Piero was an absolutely fantastic guide for our first activity in Madrid. We covered history, architecture, some Spanish gossip, and of course, food! We visited some known spots and some hidden gems and in the meantime had some fantastic food and drink. If you are visiting Madrid be sure to let Piero show it to you first!
We only had 4 tastings in 3 stops. The four was advertised as 6 tastings. Our tour guide was nice but from Venezuela so she talked a lot more about her history than Spain and Madrid. We wanted a bit more history.
Elge was excellent very knowledgeable and we really enjoyed the tapas and hearing all about the culture of Madrid.
The food was amazing and the guide, Íñigo de la Serna, was awesome. I’m walking with a cane at the moment and he accommodated my needs perfectly.
Unique and personal experience with lovely local. Got to know our tour guide and talk about real world topics.
Julian was very knowledgeable and informed. He knows a lot about the history of Spanish food. I highly recommend him.
We have done many food tours throughout the US and Europe. The offering was 6 or 10 tastings, private guide. I elected 6 as we have always had lots of food and drink on these tours, expecting 4-6 stops. The tour consisted of only 2 stops-a restaurant and then a block or so away a food market hall. We chose no alcohol, but assumed that we would at least get water or soda, however these had to be purchased at both the stops and were not included. At the mom and pop restaurant we had 3 small potato dishes and 1 pepper dish. At the market place, we had a small cheese plate and 3 small fish servings on bread. We were shocked when that was the conclusion of the tour. We did stop by an interesting church after the food market. This was way way overpriced for the food provided. The guide was nice enough and tried to connect with us It just wasnt much of a tour with 2 stops!
This tour offers very basic, inexpensive tapas (mostly potatoes), with no history or context about Tapas Culture in Madrid. The tour guide is nice, but the tour was a cultural disappointment. Save your money and go buy some elegant tapas on your own.
We had a great time exploring Madrid streets and eating a variety of foods. Our guide was amazing and my son (8) enjoyed all of our stops!
We visited two establishments and had superb vegetarian food in both of them, accompanied by wine and other drinks. We then finished off with chocolate and churros. The guide was very enthusiastic and knowledgeable about Madrid and the food and drinks we had.
This was a horrible food tour. We could not have been more disappointed. The tour went to one bar and one restaurant a block away. We received a small nameless glass of wine and then went to one restaurant and were served three very small dishes . Two were local Spanish food and the other had nothing to do with Madrid cuisine. In total we had 5 “tastings” on a tour labeled as “ a 6 to 10 tasting private walking tour “. The food was not good and there was no explanation given about the area, the food or the culture. We never walked anywhere and we were offended by several of the tour guides comments about weight, cellulite and politics. This was just the worst tour we have ever been on and to make it worse when we complained the tour company would not refund our money and Viator also did nothing to help. Not only would I never recommend the local tour group but I do not think I will book through Viator in the future either. The whole experience left a bad taste jn my mouth figuratively and literally! We have been on many other food tours in many cities that we loved but I would say definitely avoid this one !
Maria was a great guide. She was knowledgable and gave us a lot of good information about the city and Spain. We did have a person in our party who did not drink and part of the 6 tastings included two alcoholic drinks, which would have been helpful to know prior to booking. The food was incredible. If taking a baby or small child ditch the stroller for a carrier you can wear for this tour.
We met Patricia at the scheduled time and place. The experience was amazing. It exceeded our expectations. I feel like we made a new friend. Beyond the good food and restaurants. Patricia took us to places the normal tourist doesn’t get to go. Even though she may not know of Rick Steves, she provided us with a similar experience of having a friend as a tour guide.
Eagle is an excellent food tour guide. She knows the background of the food items and took us to some small spots known only to the locals. Great dishes, a great way to get to know everyday Spain.
We showed up for this tour... but the tour guide did not. When we texted the number we were given, the tour guide apologized and said he had not been told there was a tour. He was very kind... but unable to come at that point. It was a huge disappointment for us. We have been using Tripadvisor for years and this is the first time something like this has happened.
Great opportunity to go see some different area of the city and enjoy some local foods. Drink drinks in history.
We had a private tour. Our guide was very friendly and knowledgeable. She frequently asked us how we doing and what we liked and disliked so that she could change things around to suit our tastes.
Maria was great. Good conversationalist and enjoyed all the tapas places. Introduced many authentic Spanish foods.
Wonderful experience. Our guide became our friend. Very knowledgeable and fun! She knew all the best places including off the beaten path.
We just to Madrid and did this food tour with Mateo. Very help to get to know the city and the food.
We had the absolute best food tour experience in Seville with our guide, Antonietta. Having done several food tours in different cities, we can confidently say this one was the best by far. Antonietta was outstanding—she explained every tapa and drink in detail, sharing the history and cultural background behind each stop. Beyond the food, she gave us a wonderful overview of Seville and its traditions, which made the evening not just delicious but deeply enriching. What impressed us even more was her attentiveness to the group. A few people had dietary restrictions, and Antonietta seamlessly made sure they had excellent alternatives without missing out on the experience. We can’t recommend this tour enough—it was truly the highlight of our trip to Sevile
AMAZING FOOD AND TOUR GUIDE.....GREAT WAY TO FIND EUNIQE FOOD AND DRINK IN MADRID. MY WIFE AND I COULD NOT HAVE HAD A BETTER FOOD TOUR.
Mateo was a wonderful host to this lovely city. Friendly helpful and we enjoyed all our stops. Combination walking tour and tasting popular menu items. Excellent way to start your Madrid adventure
Tour guide was really great and very very energetic. Time flew by really quick and of course all the food was great!
Our guide was friendly and knowledgeable. The restaurants/market he took us to had tasty food. But the price for this tour was way more expensive than it should be. The value of the food is EUR 50 at most and the tour costs EUR 170. The guide also showed up late and left early. The tour does not provide enough food for a full dinner and you will be hungry at the end. Having done food tours in several other countries, I feel that this one is not worth it.
Mateo was very knowledgeable. The tour allowed us to visit areas of Madrid we normally wouldn’t have. It was great!
We had a great time eating local foods and walking through some interesting locations in Madrid. Our tour guide Matteo was very knowledgable about the foods and the neighborhoods we walked in. We enjoyed all the foods and it was perfect ending the tour with some delicious Churros!
Three very different tastings paired with a drink, with a dessert for last. Some of the tapas offerings we had never had before, so it was fun to taste something new. There is some walking involved through the city streets and a lovely park. Mateo was a pleasure to be with. As we walked from place to place, Mateo identified government buildings for us a gave us a bit of history. It was a lovely evening and the four of us thoroughly enjoyed it. We recommend this experience!
Our guide Elge was excellent, gave us history current context and took us to local spots with great food!
Interesting tour and sampled food that we probably would not have found on our own. Tour guide was pleasant. We opted for a "private" tour (which was quite expensive) and did not feel we received the value paid. We've taken many food tour with 4-8 others in a group (for 1/2 the price) and enjoyed them just as much, or more. We would not do this tour again.
Maria was wonderful, giving background on all the places and foods. Today was our first day in Spain and it was a perfect way to kick it off. She also gave us great advice for the rest of our travels!
This tour was the highlight of our time in Madrid. Our tour guide, Egle, was wonderful and took us to a variety of neighborhood eateries, bars, and markets. We couldn’t have asked for a better guide! Would highly recommend this to anyone who wants to do something outside of your typical tourist activities. A+++
1 hour before we were supposed to go on our food tour. The guy, Mateo, canceled. I could not get in touch with somebody and viator even though on the app it says I could have chatted with somebody. There was no chat link. This is the worst experience I have had with viator and I have used them numerous times around the world. I am so disappointed!!!
Mateo was a really nice friendly guide and very casual and easy to talk with. Our only feedback would have been to choose food places that offer more variety to our choices. Especially since we were the only two people on the tour … it would have been nice to have more choices.
We had a very enjoyable tour with Egle. She was very friendly and we saw some interesting sites and had some great food!
Very limited tastings. Tour guide tried to save on the budget provided to him. Had a disappointing experience
Mateo was nice and knowledgeable, we enjoyed our tour! He shared some Madrid history as we walked which was very interesting.
Great tour. Be sure to come hungry because there are so many great things to eat. The guide was friendly and informative, and showed some wonderful places to eat and drink in Madrid.
Our guide, Egle, was fantastic! She took us to all the local restaurants, market and Tapas/Bars! We really appreciated the local vibe. Her history of the neighborhoods and Madrid were excellent and she spoke very good English! We highly recommend this food tour, and would do it again!
Marianissa tailored our tour and was very knowledgeable about the food, wine, culture and history of Madrid and all the various neighborhoods. She definitely took us to local places you would not have found on travel sites. Definitely would recommend her to anyone looking for a personal guide.
This food tour was a great way to start our short trip to Madrid. Patricia had good knowledge of the local food and the areas we visited. She took us to a variety of eateries for some tasty tastes. This included an excellent bar we would never have found on our own. Patricia was a pleasant companion with ideas for other restaurants we could visit during our stay.
