Itinerary
We will gather at Calle de Atocha 76, Madrid most renowned cooking school, where you'll be welcomed with bottomless cava while waiting for the rest of our small group to arrive. Our guide will introduce themselves and outline the route we'll follow on this culinary adventure. Feel free to leave any personal belongings here securely, as the tour will conclude at this location.
Stop at one of Madrid´s first hardware stores that has kept its original decore for over 100 years. Nowadays this restaurant portrays the personality of that hardware store while serving delicious and high end lunches, dinners, tapas and wines. Here we will try the world famous Croqueta and a perfectly paired glass of wine. As we move out of the restaurant, an introduction of the neighborhood divide by calle Atocha, one of Madrid´s central streets.
Now we venture into our second stop, a restaurant that specializes on Iberian Products and spanish cuisine. You can not leave spain with out enjyoing one of our favorite products, the Jamon Iberico. This former Museo del Jamon has been renovated and re-decorated after the pandemic to cater the locals. On this stop we will experience a Jamon tasting with three types of iberian hams and our guide will elaborate on the production of these hams. Ofcourse, a good ham must be accompanied by a good wine and our guide will recommend you one for this tasting.
‘’Vamos por un vermouth’’, a typical expresion we have for this refreshing apertive. At this stop you will see and try the vermouth culture first hand as we accompany this with a basque pintxo delicacy, the "Gilda". The guide will share his knowledge on the history behind this sweet, spicy and sour pintxo and the drink that has become a perfect match for it.
Lavapies famous for being the bohemian side of the city will be our last stop before sitting down for dinner. Here we will go to one of the neighborhoods most renowned bars where we will have a delicious, and smoky, charcuteri product from Leon and a typical wine of the basque country.
We conclude our tapas tour back where we started, at Madrid´s premier and funnest cooking school. Here, we will be welcomed into an exclusive private dining room for a sumptuous sit- down dinner. Relax in a charming, candle-lit, 120-year-old cellar and savor a main course of your choice: meat or fish (Vegetarian option aswell) and finish off your meal with a delectable dessert and enjoy a bottomless wine pairing, featuring a selection of white, red, and sparkling wines. Cap off the evening by socializing with the new friends you have made on this tour. As a parting gift, yo will receive a PDF filled with key information, fun facts about the restaurants, recipes, and the areas we visited plus suggestion of places to visit during your stay in Madrid.

Our host Diego was outstanding! You can tell he’s genuinely passionate about what he does — he clearly put real thought and care into creating a curated food and wine experience. If you’re a foodie who appreciates thoughtfully paired wines with each dish, Diego is your guy!
TAKE THIS TOUR. I was surprised that this tour was a bit "hidden" when I searched f0r food tours - it definitely wasn't in the first 20 that popped up. I just now learned they are a newer business....and they are FABULOUS. My boyfriend and I booked the Local Tapas Tour with Private Sit-Down Dinner. Prior to the tour I reached out with a couple questions and also to explain that though I spoke some Spanish, it was pretty minimal. Diego, the tour guide, reached out to me over a week in advance to calm my anxiety and answer any questions I had. I mentioned I was not a fan of seafood but was willing to try it, so he ended up tweaking some of the tapas for me! After arriving and being greeted by Diego with a glass of Cava, he told us a bit about himself and the tour. We visited four very different styles of restaurants for a different tapa and drink at each location. We tried tortilla espanola with Albarino wine at a market, then moved to a Michelin nod restaurant for a different wine variety and ham croquettes. We went to a local pub to try Vermout and pinchos (skewered tapa) and ended with a red wine and 3 types of Iberian ham/5types of Manchego cheese. All delicious. The tour didn't feel rushed nor dragged and with the heat the walking was kept to a minimum :) As if that wasn't enough, we ended the evening with a full meal at the Culinary School (where you can take tapas or paella making classes). My boyfriend had the octopus and I had the beef cheeks. Each came with potatoes and two sauces. And all of it - even the octopus - was delicious. Obviously there was more wine (red and white) as well as a delicious cheesecake dessert that was 30% manchego. Even my boyfriend who doesn't like cheese said it was delicious. The food was heavenly and Diego was so down to earth and fun. We kept inviting him to join us for our dinner and drinks because he was a delight to be with. I think of everything we did in Paris-Bourdeaux-Madrid, this tour was THE HIGHLIGHT of our trip!
This wine and tapas tour was one of the highlights of my time in Madrid. From start to finish, it was exceptionally well organised, welcoming, and full of authentic local experiences. The guide Diego was knowledgeable, engaging, and clearly passionate about Madrid’s food and wine culture. I learned so much about the the traditions behind the tapas, and the different wines we sampled, all while enjoying a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. The selection of venues was excellent, ranging from charming local spots to places I would never have discovered on my own. Every tapa was delicious, and each wine was thoughtfully paired, showcasing the incredible variety and quality of Spanish cuisine. What made the experience especially memorable was the balance between great food, fascinating stories and charming venues. It felt authentic rather than touristy, giving a genuine taste of Madrid’s culinary scene. I would wholeheartedly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Madrid, whether you’re a wine enthusiast, a food lover, or simply looking for a fun and memorable way to explore the city. It exceeded my expectations and left me with wonderful memories of Madrid. Five stars without hesitation.
The title should speak for itself as the experience was really amazing and the crew at the Cooking Clubhouse provided a wonderful time. Diego was our guide and he was extremely accommodating to our busy schedule with timing and made sure we still had the full experience. Diego even sent us a long list of restaurants, night life and other experiences for our next trip. Would highly recommend this activity and any that are hosted by Cooking Clubhouse, they are an awesome crew.
Diego was great. The tapas were fantastic as were the tapa places. Dinner after the tapas was also great. I’d definitely do it again.
Outstanding tour guide accompanied by wonderful food and wine pairing. Would definitely recommend this tour to anyone visiting Madrid!
Such an incredible experience. I cannot recommend this enough! Our small group had an amazing time and our guide, Diego, was charming, informative, and so fun! It was the perfect activity for our team building and gave the space for our members to get to know each other throughout the night. The food was delicious, the wine was great, and the locations were awesome. We even booked reservations to one of the locations afterwards, we were so impressed!
Diego started our tour with a glass of cava, what followed was an insider’s guide to bars and tapas in Madrid. The tour included stops at four different bars and more importantly, four different tapas and beverages. You will get a “local’s” cheat sheet for future forays on your own. The tour concluded with a sit down entree and dessert. The beef cheeks were actually my favorite food item on my trip. This tour is Diego’s baby. He researches his stops and says he adds and subtracts when necessary. The tour is well worth the time and money. Be prepared to make friends because it just 8 people.
Lots of fun, great food, and great wine!
My daughter gifted me with an early Mother's Day treat. What a lovely evening! Our chef Javier was wonderful. Interestingly, the only other person who had signed up for the experience was not able to attend...last minute problem...so we were offered either to have a private class or to reschedule. As we were leaving Madrid the next morning, we opted for the private experience. The food and instruction was terrific. Many thanks to Javier for completing our stay in Madrid in such a lovely way.
Diego was a great tour guide, the food was excellent and we learned a lot about Madrid and the food culture. There is very little walking which was nice and the location is easy to find
Great experience! 4 lovely stops with tapas and wine, beer, or vermouth. Diego provided great information and tips. We loved the private dinner with wine, too. So much food!
A fantastic experience led by Diego. We loved all the food we tasted along the way, some really nice and authentic restaurants; great story telling. We've learned quite few things today. The experience ended with a lovely main meal at the cooking school where the trip started. It was wonderful. Thank you Diego for making is super special. Highly recommended.
Diego was a great host with knowledge of all the best places to eat and drink. Being a trained chef he knew all the local restaurants and took us to the most interesting places. All finished off with Diego cooking for us, what a treat. Highly recommended dont miss this tour⭐️👌🏾
A Truly Great Tour. This was our first tour in Spain. Our guide, Diego was amazing. The tapas and wine were delicious but what made this experience so special and unique, was the wonderful dinner, cooked by Diego, at the end. The meal was wonderful and we got to experience a divine dinner with more great wine. This is definitely a tour that stands out. Thank you Diego for a great evening!
Diego was the best! All the establishments were well curated and very unique. Food was amazing and the dinner at the end was the cherry on top! We had a blast. Our fave tour in Madrid so far
Thank you for a wonderful evening! We explored some unique and hidden food spots that broadened our food experience. Thank you for a filling food adventure.
Diego is a fantastic host and tour guide. The food was delicious, the drinks were plentiful, and the company was fantastic. I highly recommend this experience. Unlike other tapas tours in Madrid, in this one you won't leave hungry!
Diego is great. So insightful and entertaining. He went above and beyond and made this such an enjoyable experience. I couldn’t recommend this tour enough.
The best tour we have ever taken. Diego was fun, energetic, and simply real. Even though our daughter lives in Madrid, it was so much fun having Diego taking out for a night on the town. Would highly recommend to people if it’s their first time or fifth time in Madrid!
I had such a wonderful experience on this tapas tour in Madrid. Our host was incredibly kind, welcoming and attentive, and made everyone feel comfortable from the very beginning. The locations were all excellent and the food was absolutely amazing, with a fantastic variety of authentic dishes to try. What really made the tour special was how much care and passion the host put into it, explaining the history of each place, the ingredients in every dish and guiding us through the wines in a way that was both informative and enjoyable. It felt personal, relaxed and genuinely friendly throughout. Even as someone who lives in Madrid, I discovered new places and learned so much. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone looking for a great food experience in the city.
I arrived a few minutes late but our host (Beni, I hope I remembered that correctly) wasted no time catching me up, everything was already set up for me by the time I got there. The food and the dishes that we made were excellent I cannot even tell you which one was my favorite everything was spectacular. Chorizo, stuffed peppers, shrimp, mushrooms, a fantastic dessert! The location was also very close to the Metro which made it easy to get there. I would Def recommend this class.
You can’t go wrong with this outing! It was a blast! Diego was the best. He had great recommendations so try to take this tour early on your vacation
Diego was WONDERFUL! We went to 4 different locations to sample a tapa and drink. He included the history of the locations (La Ferreteria from the 1800s and on the Michelin Guide), spoke of the Spanish social culture of being out, enjoying good company. He introduced me to foods I would never have thought to try, and ended the night with a beautifully curated dinner back at the cooking school. I will definitely be doing this tour again when I return to Madrid.
Thanks Diego for this wondeful journey! Walking in Madrid’s street and discover tapas and history was so special. And finish with a delicious diner with great company was divine! A must do while in Madrid

This was an amazing experience! Our guide and Chef, Diego, put together a fantastic tapas and wine tour, followed by a delicious dinner. He is very knowledgeable and explains the food and history of the restaurant at each stop. The whole event was very fun and delicious! He took us to places that not everyone may know about. And it's a great opportunity to get to know the traditional tapas and wine in Madrid. The small group experience was a plus, and the participants have a chance to talk and enjoy conversation throughout the evening. I highly recommend this tour!

Diego is from Our hometown in Canada-he was very happy to meet us and treated us with genuine kindness, and enthusiasm… we went on tour to four different local restaurants we enjoyed wine, pairings, and local delicious tapas. We would not have known to order the lovely Savoury appetizers that he ordered! I wasn’t so tired. I would go into more detail, but I was better to just write this review then to forget to follow it up tomorrow! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
