Our guide Daniel was amazing. We were very lucky to have just my wife and I on the tour and Daniel. He was very knowledgeable. We had a great time. Places were amazing and he provided some really good suggestions for local places to go in. Madrid would highly recommend him.

Itinerary
Our meeting Point is a five minute walk from Puerta del Sol at Plaza Isabel II, where one of our guides will be waiting with a "Native Spanish Tapas" sign or table, and get ready for an authentic Madrid Wine and Tapas Tour, along with a fun and dynamic bilingual guide explaining the past and present history of Madrid. We will be stopping at three traditional establishments for some of the best wines and tapas that Madrid has to offer.
We will enter Madrid's 1800´s "Time Square" with some very interesting anecdotes including why Spaniards eat 12 grapes the last twelve seconds of the year during New Year's Eve. Alongside an introduction of our current Borboun dynasty versus the precious Hapsburg dynasties.
1600's Madrid main square is a must see tourist attraction. We will then make our second food tapas stop at a local's favorite tavern at the perimeter of this amazing square for some amazing Spanish ham, chorizo, alongside a well balanced white Rueda wine whose grapes cultivation, date back to the 12th century.
Our first food tapas stop is at a quaint local favorites tavern for a young grapey and fruity Tempranillo Toledo red wine. This tabern has been operating since 1860 offering some of the best Croquettes in Madrid near Madrid's Puerta del Sol square; "Spain's Time Square". You will learn about the history of this square and other interesting facts such as the origin of the 12 grapes that Spaniards eat the last twelve seconds of the year.
You will have arrived to Madrid's oldest square dating from the 1500's. Get your camera ready, it is very picturesque, and romantic, in fact it's where marriage was proposed for centuries in Madrid, where we can appreciate three hundred years of different architecture just in this square.
We will be bordering Spain's Royal Palace and Cathedral, for some interesting anecdotes related to the Statues on the roof of the perimeter of the Palace and its gardens. Another must see of Madrid, being our last landmark before we sit down for a hearty traditional tapas lunch savoring our last two wines, a Rioja and Ribera, both red wines, but each with a distinct character.
We will be heading back near the meeting point where we'll stop at a local favorite sit-down traditional restaurant for an amazing tapas lunch with red wines; Rioja and Ribera. The assorment of tapas is quite diverse such as a Madrid paella, Spanish Omelette, chorizo stewed in white wine and a variety of "pinchos", a local's favorite to accompany wine. We will then be finishing off with traditional Castilian after-dinner liquor shots. Our guide will walk you back to the meeting point and give you recommendations you on where to go next and what to do during the remainder of your stay in Madrid.
We will be entering the oldest quarter of Madrid dating back to the 1500`s and a peak at the world's oldest standing restaurant called Botin. It is not easy to get a reservation there, but our guides sometimes manage to do so. This beautiful little square has some very entertaining historical facts, including an anecdote related to Dan Brown's Da Vinci Code novel.

Huge thanks to Carmen for an unforgettable afternoon of amazing food and wine in Madrid! We tasted fantastic jamón ibérico, local cheeses, and delicious traditional dishes, all paired with incredible Spanish wines. Carmen made exploring the city’s hidden culinary gems feel so natural and fun. Highly recommend!
Daniel was a fabulous guide! He’s very knowledgeable and familiar with Madrid, with family stories to share. We enjoyed his company!
Daniel was a great tour guide. He was knowledgeable, informative, and taught us so much! I loved hearing about the history while walking around the city. We learned so much from a local who also understands American culture. I highly recommend his tour!
Daniel is the best! We met sharp on time, and even though we were the only group joining the tour today, his enthusiasm was 110%! We were three vegetarians in a group of 4 and he accommodated our preferences quickly! The stories, the anecdotes and of course the food! And the WINE! Everything was spot on! He gives you a feeling of real Madrid, the Spanish culture and brings in a lively environment where you forget about the heat and look forward to the tour 🙂 We were also traveling with a stroller and it was not a problem at all! All the places Daniel took us to, were very hospitable. Even though we had done a Royal Palace Tour in the morning, he had 1-2 stories that we didn’t hear before. I would give this 10 stars if I could. For someone who thinks the time 12.30-3.30 would be hot, I think we didn’t feel it. We found shade always, took water breaks and discussed everything from culture, career and culinary craft! Don’t miss it! Pro Tip: Ask his about the salt and money gesture!
Fantastic tour, full of history and authentic tapas, drinks & a delicious lunch. Daniel was a wonderful guide. Highly recommend!
Wonderful time! Daniel our guide was great. Full of interesting info and of course wonderful food and drinks!! Highly recommend
Pleasant experience with food tasting and learn history at the same time. It was wonderful to have to walk around slow and or fast and have some fantastic tips about restaurant, coffee shops, and markets etc
We enjoyed our afternoon with Daniel. The four wines were all great and the stops were unique. The last stop was nice and relaxing with so much food!
Daniel provided us with a wonderful afternoon walking the various neighborhoods while showing the architecture of different eras. He was extremely knowledgeable of the history and political past of Madrid. We went to 3 small tapas places where the food and wine were top notch. I highly recommend this tour.
Daniel the guide was excellent Struck a good balance between history food and wine Tour time around 2h30 hours which perfect
We had a wonderful time with our guide, Tomas, who was very kind, organized, and knowledgeable!! We highly recommend this tour to foodies and people who love history.
It was a year ago that we took this Madrid tour and tapas and I still remember each stop. It was delicious and lovely.
This was an excellent tour and the guide (Pablo) was also fantastic. The locations selected were nice stops and the lunch was very good. The tour was informative and well laid out.
Daniel was outstanding and very knowledgeable. He explained the history of the area and the food. He also explained about the wine and various areas. I would highly recommend him for small or large groups.
We had an absolute blast with Daniel on this tour. It really was a fun and authentic look into Madrid! Daniel was fun and engaging, and it was great to go to tapas spots that we wouldn’t otherwise have found on our own. It was a small intimate group so that made a huge difference in feeling like a small authentic experience. Would definitely recommend!
We loved exploring Madrid with Pablo! He was informative & made us feel at home. I’d highly recommend this tour! The food was delicious & enjoyed the wines as well!
We had an amazing time- we met in the plaza and was easy to find Daniel, and he even worked with our schedule and was very accommodating. We took a leisure stroll around Spain and visited different centuries of history and places, and at each place we had Tapas, the Tapas Restaurant made my wife and I feel like we were locals. The food was where the locals go, and outstanding. Daniel was very knowledgeable in the history of Spain, we learned so many things and again, the Tapa's and wine were amazing. As we finished the tour, we felt like we have new a friend in Spain and when we come back, we will for sure book this tour again. And I bet go to dinner with Daniel - Like I said, we have a new friend in Spain, Thank you and cannot say enough- I will book this company and tour every time we visit Spain.
Daniel Tapas & Wine Tour was amazing. He is extremely knowledgeable and of the city, speaks perfect English, provides additional activity recommendations and is extremely friendly. Schedule this excursion and have a blast!
I don’t know that I have ever toured with anyone as animated, personable and knowledgeable as Daniel! We chose this tour because of the ‘side of history’ and got more than we hoped for. Daniel regaled us throughout the whole time with colourful stories-personal and historical- and the places that were included in the tour were excellent. All the wines we tried were great, and the food was fantastic. Thanks Native Spanish Tapas and Daniel!
Perfect !!! Must book What an incredible tour! Daniel is an incredible fount of knowledge of history, culture, and food. It’s clear he loves his job as a small group tour person. His English is perfect —so you can commit freely and deeply on sociopolitical questions and other historical and sociological facts. As well, he has excellent cultural background and sensitivity. We learned so much. I highly highly recommend him for a tour. We had fun, we are well, and we learned much amount Spanish history and culture
The tour was exactly what we needed on our first day in Madrid. Tour was excellent and included wine, history, tapas, interesting conversation….. wine….. lol. We had a great time and by the end we had enough information to continue on our own for the rest of our time in Madrid without getting lost! Tour was a great mix of fun, informative, interesting and allowed us to get our bearings around the city for a great time the rest of the week. Highly recommend!
Daniel is a great host. Very friendly and outgoing. This is a great way to orient yourself around Plaza Mayor and the local food scene. Definitely got us going as we arrived first time in Madrid and immediately took this tour. A great introduction to Madrid
Daniel was an excellent guide and was great with his knowledge of the city. The food selections were also great. We did the lunch tour and enjoyed the food so much.
This was such a great walking tour. I loved that our tour guide was a native of Madrid. It's always nice to get someone from the city where you're doing a tour because the tour guide comes with so much knowledge and passion for the town, and that is precisely what we got during the tour. Besides getting a wealth of information on the history of Madrid, we also were able to eat amazing local tapas and drink great wine. By the end of our experience, it felt like our guide was one of our friends. This is a must-do when in Madrid. Do not hesitate to book your tour with Native Spanish Tapas
Daniel, our guide, was friendly, personable, and extremely knowledgeable about the history and people of Madrid. The tour was nicely paced as we stopped to see the historic sites of Old Madrid and local traditional tapas eateries. We finished our tour with an amazing full course meal. We have done many local food tours but this was one of our best ever. Intermixing history and food was invaluable for us in order to have an appreciation for the Spanish and Madrid culture. Muchas Garcias Daniel!!
Daniel gave us an absolute fantastic tour both gastronomic and cultural. Very friendly and with a lot of knowledge. Highly recommendable!
We selected this tour to do on our trip to Madrid for our anniversary and we were absolutely delighted with our time with Pablo. He is very knowledgeable and interesting, it was great to get a feel for the city and learn about its history as well as visiting some excellent places and trying some delicious food. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and thought it was great value for money and a highlight of our time in Madrid. Thank you, Pablo, we 100% recommend,
Daniel was a very informative & entertaining guide. By the end of our small group tour I felt I had a new friend. The tastings of cheese, meats, wine & especially the dinner at the end was fantastic! I would heartily recomend this tour to anyone wishing to have some tastes & information shared!
The tour with Pablo was great. We had a good time and learned about the history of Spain. He catered our tour only though there was only 2 of us.
We had an amazing tour with Pablo. He accommodated some challenging dietary restrictions to make sure everyone had an amazing tour. Throughout the tour he provided a mix of local history and the history of food throughout Madrid and the region. All of the businesses we visited were well prepared and welcomed happily welcomed us with a variety of tastes and drinks. We would definitely recommend Pablo and this tour to anyone traveling either as a couple or with family (to include younger children).
Daniel did a great job with his knowledge of the area and selection of tapas. The wines were delicious.
it was a great tour 👏👏👏 Daniel was a great tour guide. Interesting history , great food n fun group of people too ! Will recommend it
Pablo took us on a wonderful tour of the city and all the food was delicious. He even followed up the next day with some questions that were asked. It was a very pleasant and informative walk around central Madrid.
With only one day to spend in Madrid this tour gave me a good insight into the food and history of this beautiful city. Daniel, was knowledgeable and entertaining and I really enjoyed his tour.
The food and wine was delicious but the best part of the tour was the stories and history. Daniel was so friendly and easy to chat with, giving us loads of information on Madrid, local insights and great recommendations.
Daniel did a great job. He told us the history of the city took us to great places to eat and taste wonderful food. Our last restaurant, Casa Nicasio, he ordered a special meal for us to have the following evening. I would highly recommend his tour, I even suggested it to other people on another tour of a museum we went to.
We had our tour with Pablo, who was an excellent guide. He gave us an informative history lesson with some tasty food & wine stops on the way. I am very interested in history, and I did an additional tour with another operator the following day, which some historical parts were the same; however, Pablo had more information to disclose about the stops. Highly recommend
Me and my partner had a wonderful time. We were lucky enough to have a private tour. The food and history was wonderful. And it was such a beautiful day. :) Daniel was so kind and entertaining. Exceeded all my expectations.
This was amazing. Daniel was so kind and has a wonderful knowledge of the city. Also the food he took us to try was amazing. I high recommend if you want to discover some wonderful hiden gems of the city. We had a private tour, and my partner and I agree, it was one of our favorite tours on our Spanish trip.
It was a fun tour with a knowledgeable guide who spoke perfect and perfectly understandable English (no accent). It is a lot of standing. It would be better for older clients if the guide found a place for us to sit while he told us the fascinating history.
By far the best guide we have had on any tour in any country. Daniel gave us unprecedented access to his home city of Madrid with tapas and wine stops at three of his favorite places in the old city center.
This tour was a wonderful opportunity to see some of the historical sites of Madrid together with a range of bars and restaurants, capped off with a nice dinner with all the authentic local fare. Daniel is an enthusiastic, knowledgeable and engaging host who made for a great tour guide. This is a perfect way to spend an evening (or afternoon) in Madrid, particularly during the summer months.
We’d like to thank Native Spanish Tapas and especially our guide, Pablo for a great afternoon. We took a couple tours while in Spain and this was by the far the best experience of Spanish history and food we experienced. Pablo provided a great walking and history tour. Very knowledgeable as a life long resident of Madrid. We would absolutely recommend a tour with Pablo and Native Spanish Napas. The egg tortilla and chorizo was brilliant. -From Idaho.
Daniel gave us a great tour. Great history lesson and amazing food and wine. We were stuffed by the end of it.
The group was small and personal. Our guide was friendly and very informative. It was an enjoyable and tasty experience!
Was Perfect. Got to have a private tour just for 2. Food and wine was great. Perfect way to start the vacation. Got perfect tips for food. Perfect to get to know madrid. Daniel is an excellent guide. One of the tours I will remember for a long time
We had an incredible tour with Pablo. Felt just like exploring Madrid with a good friend who knew all the best places to visit and eat. Perfect balance of a little bit of hisotry, recommendations, sight seeing and getting your bearings in this beautiful city. We had a mix of first timers to Madrid + people who had visited before and he was able to tail the tour to make it incredible for eveyrone. Wish we had more time to see more of Madrid with Pablo. Will definitely be recommending to all our friends and will book Pablo when we return.
There is no better way to start a vacation in Madrid than Daniel’s tour! He provides the perfect introduction to Spanish culture, customers, and cuisine, pointing out which restaurants are great and which ones to avoid. He's also a really funny, personable guy with an interesting history and a lot of good advice for traveling other regions of Spain. Just be prepared to have a siesta shortly afterwards, as you’re going to be completely stuffed with meat, cheese, and wine!
What a fun night and a great way to start our vacation in Madrid. We visited three different places, learning about the history of Madrid as we walked, and sampled tapas that only locals would know to order. Pablo even taught us customs for ordering beer and wine, why ham hangs in doorways, and why pictures were painted on the street signs you see all over Madrid. A quick walk by Ernest Hemingway’s favorite restaurant, Botin, and the touching story of the convent sisters who had a revolving door to place babies in (now they sell fresh baked goods the same way) were some of my off-the-beaten-path favorite moments. The evening ended with a wonderful dinner of paella (which he asked the restaurant to cook without shellfish for my allergy) and taught us how to drink the dessert liquor (arriba, abajo, al centro, pa dentro)! Such a fun evening and perfect for any age.
