I took this trip with Christina and really enjoyed it. She was very engaging and knew a lot about Madrid and the food. I liked that she shared a lot about her life here in Madrid. The food stops were good and I had more than enough food. My favorite were the sardines in the market. I enjoyed this tour enough that I booked the evening Wine and Tapas tour with Christina for later in the week.

We did two tours with Walk and Eat Spain, and absolutely loved both of them. We were so lucky to have Oliver for the Family Food tour - he was able to really connect with our son, who can have a hard time focusing, but Oliver made him feel like a valued member of the group and kept him engaged in the conversation. He even got him to try his very first mosto - such a hit! The tour took us through the Malasaña neighborhood and we had such a great variety of tastings and learned so much about the area and Spanish customs. We also did the Market Tour with Andrea, who was fantastic as well. She kept our kiddo interested the whole time, and gave us a lot of appreciation for the Spanish cuisine. The highlight was having lunch cooked fresh for us from food we bought at the market. Such a special way to end our trip to Madrid! Can’t recommend these tours enough!
Delightful tour with Theo. It was perfectly organized and accommodated my granddaughter’s diet. Theo is personable, knowledgeable and he quickly handled granddaughter’s dehydration/heat issue at the beginning of the tour. The food choices were varied and delicious and we learned a lot about Spain. I highly recommend this tour and Theo
This is a fun way to spend a few hours roaming around a thriving, local Madrid neighborhood and getting a taste of Spain. It’s an easy walk through a colorful, lively area. Along the way, there are stops to nosh on local treats. Our personable guide, Teo, shared a great deal of information as he led us through specific food tastings that included: freshly-fried churros with chocolate, the famous Spanish jamón, boquerones, and olives; a wonderful olive oil tasting (and opportunity to buy); finishing with a tasty, typical, local lunch in the marketplace.
Andrea was an outstanding guide - nice, professional, showing intresting places, wonderful foodstops!!! We highly rekommend a tour with Andrea!!!!!!!!!
What a lovely stroll through local neighborhoods with our guide Andrea! We tasted a variety of dishes and learned more about various meals and mealtimes that are unique to the Spanish people. I have previously done the Tapas Tour with Walk and Eat Spain, and I highly recommend either (or both!) of these tours!
Very fun and informative tour about food and culture in Spain. Highly recommend it. We went to markets we might not otherwise access easily.
We did two separate tours with this company - a private tour of the La Latina neighborhood with tapas, and a flamenco show experience. Angie was our wonderful guide for both tours and we loved her! We had so much fun and learned so much. The company was very easy to work with. I highly recommend anything that this company offers, and look forward to taking more tours through them the next time I'm in Madrid.
What a fun tour. Go hungry as you’ll have plenty of foods to try. The churros and porros with chocolate sauce and coffee were an excellent ‘first’ breakfast. The savory breakfast of jamon and cheese and wine/beer was equally good. We visited the Mercado and had samplings of olives, anchovies and figs. One of the most interesting stop was to sample olive oils. We ended with a wonderful meal of warm tapas and more drinks. We didn’t need to eat for the rest of the day. I highly recommend this tour.
My daughter and I loved this tour. Christina was a wonderful guide. Her enthusiasm for sharing the foods in this beautiful neighborhood was contagious! She was delightful. The foods were delicious!
This was the best food tour I did during my month long holiday in Spain. The history behind the food, and the stories behind ingredients, produce and neighbourhoods was so interesting. Our guide Christina was also part of the reason the experience was so enjoyable
First visit to Madrid, I wanted to experience the local flavor and culture. Oliver guided our group of six through multiple tastings that included churros and chocolate, ham, olive oil, tapas and pintxos etc. The food was fabulous and I really enjoyed Oliver's insight on the Spanish Lifestyle. We (a family of four) had absolutely the best experience with our tour guide (and owner). She immediately won over our pre-teen girls, speaking to them first and drawing them into the tour, including the food and neighborhood history. We just loved every aspect, and especially the lunch, prepared in the market by a wonderful chef— a truly special treat, especially because he prepared our meal in accordance with my difficult onion and garlic intolerance. This was the highlight of of our tour of Spain, and we couldn't recommend it more.
This is a "must do" experience when you visit Madrid! I recommend doing it at the beginning of your trip so you can revisit the places you go to with your guide. Roxio was our tour guide and she was fantastic! You will learn a lot, walk a lot and eat a lot! I also love supporting local vendors and learning about their crafts. We loved every minute of our tour!
Our guise Andrea was terrific. Her knowledge of the area and food experiences was wonderful. We truly enjoyed our time with her.
This tour met and exceeded my expectations. The guide was completely knowledgeable and made every one in our group feel important in terms of reacting to the various foods we were tasting/eating. Bravo!!! The Spaniards take food very seriously -- and this tour enabled visitors to really understand that phenomenon! I highly recommend it.
We (family of 5 with kids 12-17) had the absolute best time! Andy was fabulous, the locations were perfect and the food was great! Highly recommend!
Amazing way to experience Madrid! This was my second Walk and Eat tour and it was as magical as the first. Great historical insights and lots of delicious Spanish food!
This was the perfect tour for me and my daughter who is studying in Madrid this summer. We got acquainted with all the food highlights in her neighborhood! Would recommend to anyone wanting a local feeling experience. Our tour guide was incredibly sweet and informative. The food was great and things we may not have found on our own!
The food tour was so informative and Abigail was great in explaining the area and types of foods popular in the areas of the city. There was a good sampling of tapias, olives, meats and dessert. A good idea to try this food tour to acquaint one’s senses and introduction to Spain.
Andrea gave us a fabulous tour with delicious food at every stop. It was especially nice to tour a neighborhood market that wasn’t overly crowded where you could actually enjoy the food stalls. This tour was a great value for the money. Thanks, Andrea!
We had a complicated issue, but Amy, the owner, managed to settle it down. It's a wonderful company! The owner is amazing and very sensitive to what's happening. I will absolutely refer this company to my friend/family, because Amy cares about clients/tourists/ friends and they want you to love Madrid, as they do. We had amazing time!!!
Andrea was amazing and informative. We had a wonderful time exploring the Malasaña neighborhood and the market was fantastic. Our family of five, ages 13, 14, 20, 47 & 50, thoroughly enjoyed our tour.
Oliver our guide could not have been better. It was by far our best food tour and we tend to take them when we travel with our teenagers. We had lots and lots of food and engaging conversation.
Visiting the unique neighborhoods of Madrid was a key objective on our mother-daughter return visit to the city. So, the food tour title naturally caught my attention. The tour not only delved into the cultural and culinary history of the Malasaña neighborhood, but it also featured a delightful array of food experiences that showcased a variety of flavors particular to Spain. Our guide was fantastic—she was personable and made it easy to connect with the local culture.
The best way to meet Madrid! Theo, our guide was so chill and incredibly knowledgable and amazingly organized. Each stop had an in depth purpose that brought my tour mates and I closer to getting to know authentic Spain, its people, and its history: Each stop encompassed not only the main event--eg: Jamon--but also how and when you would eat it as a Spaniard, and why and with what beverage or side. Theo got to know us. We got to know him. it was an early afternoon tour made up of mostly families with middle school children and we were all happy, full, and inquisitive. Can't wait to do it again someday and bring more friends! (And I'm requesting Theo!)
A good experience in a Madrid neighborhood wouldn't necessarily have visited or known about. Knowledgeable guide about the food and its connection to Spain. A bit expensive but would recommend it if it's in your travel budget. And food tours do offer a great local experience.
An excellent tour, well paced and well organised. We left feeling pleasantly full but not stuffed. Theo was a lovely guide, interesting and interested in what he was talking about, and the history of the food we were eating. We had a small group, just 4 of us, and it was a fun and relaxed experience.
The neighborhood market and food tour was so much fun! Our incredible guide, Isabel, was so engaging and knowledgeable about the neighborhood and the foods we were experiencing. The variety of food was perfect and a real reflection of Spain: olive oil, hams, churros and porras with decadent chocolate sauce, and a meal in a market using fresh ingredients. I would highly recommend this tour!
Very interesting, informative and delicious! We learned a ton about Spanish food and about Madrid, and ate sooooo many good things! Everyone in the group loved it, highly recommend to anyone traveling to Madrid!
We had a great time on our tour with guide Leira. She was so knowledgeable and approachable. She went out of her way to interact with our kids (ages 10 and 13) and keep them engaged in the experience. It was really cool to experience her local contacts. Our family is vegetarian and the tour accommodated our dietary restrictions. We tasted such delicious food. Definitely recommend!
We had an excellent food tour with Simon, highly recommend. It was the perfect way to start our trip to Spain because it gave us a chance to ask questions about a lot of things and understand the food and eating habits/culture. And the good was delicious! It was was in a local neighborhood and its market - we walked around the neighborhood, then tasted things around the market and even picked out some ingredients which Simon gave to a chef the market and he made us a fabulous tapas lunch.
Oliver was an amazing host for our tour. His knowledge and fun spirit made our food tour a wonderful experience. From the different tastings (ham, olives, olive oil, fruit) to the end of tour lunch (lovely fish from the market - chosen in front of us), it was an excellent way to see the city and to enjoy Madrid's wonderful food.
My family of 6 (adults, teens, kids) went on the afternoon De Marcados Tour for families. Our guide Theo was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about Spanish food. We did this on our first day in Spain and it worked out great. We learned so much about Spanish food and tried lots of new things. Theo also gave us lots of good tips for the rest of our trip. Even our picky kids all tried one or two new things. Highly recommend!
We had a wonderful time on our tour with Isa! I highly recommend this tour for friends, families or if you just want to have a fun afternoon exploring Malasana. Starting off, Amy and Magrit were super communicative and answered all of our questions we had before hand. And they were very accommodating of our dietary needs, interests and the fact that we had a 16 month old in a stroller. It was a lovely experience - we learned a lot, tried amazing food and were introduced to great, local spots. It is also very well priced for the amount/quality of food we tried.
One of the highlights of our time in Madrid was the food tour with Margit. She is wonderful as well as knowledgeable and has a great relationship with all the vendors. Not to mention that the food was amazing!
First let me say that even before we went on the Market and Neighborhood tour, Margit and Amy were so helpful with recommendations while we were visiting Madrid. Their suggestions helped us with our itinerary. The tour itself was fabulous and was one of the highlights of our family trip. Our family loves to learn about food, local specialities, and history. The tour was a perfect way to get out of the touristy areas and learn a little more about the different neighborhoods and local specialities. Olivier, our guide, was very knowledgeable about the neighborhoods and regional cuisine, as well as, the history of the areas and the markets. We enjoyed tasting and learning about local specialities, where they are sourced, how they are made, etc. Our group peppered him with questions and he was more than happy to answer all of them. His passion for sustainable, local foods is evident. He also had a terrific sense of humor! The lunch at the end was delicious and gave us a sample of several regional specialities of the area. I highly recommend this tour!
I booked a private tour for 5 people during my work trip. The team was very accommodating when I had to add an additional person in a short time frame (a couple of days, as the places organized for us must be booked in advanced). All the market stalls, tapas places, and the restaurant picked & organized are all amazing and the produces fresh & delicious. All my colleagues are impressed and said the tour was the best thing they did. There're enough food & drink to go around, while still squeezing some historical & interesting tidbits about Madrid/Spain. The guides were incredible, bubbly, and knowledgeable. I will not hesitate to recommend Walk and Eat.
We loved the whole tour, the 2.5 hours flew by. All of the food was delicious! It was so much fun to walk through the markets and neighborhoods, and our guide was so much fun.
We went for this food and drink walking tour following an ace review in the Guardian. It was totally amazing…we visited a wonderfully quirky area of Madrid…Melasana..( well worth a visit!).. our guide Simon was knowledgeable and entertaining. The tapas and wine glorious.. This was probably the highpoint of our trip to Madrid… apologies to all that amazing Art…This is a new company.. new Initiative.. a total gem!
This was the highlight of our trip to Madrid. Isabelle was our tour guide, and when I say she was the most knowledgeable, fun, kindest tour guide, I am not exaggerating. We started with sweets with churros and porras, with the tastiest melted chocolate I have ever had. Next, she took us to try some iberian ham, explaining what makes Iberian ham what it is. Incredible! Next, we went to an olive oil tasting where we learned that Spain was the worlds #1 olive oil exporter which none of us knew. I want to save the rest of the tour as a surprise but try and request Isabelle if you can. She was the best tour guide I have had in all the tours I have ever gone on. She makes the experience exceptional.
Margit was amazing and one of the best memories of my trip to Spain! She's from the United States and fell in love with Spain. She skillfully blends her US sense of humor with her passion for all things Spain. It was more than a tapas tour. It was an immersion in the culture. I simply can't say enough about her and the experience. All I can say...is just do it! You won't regret it.
This was a fantastic introduction to Madrid. The guides were delightful. The food and explanations were great. We enjoyed t so much, a few days later we booked the evening wine and tapas experience. Again it was great fun.
We had a fabulous guided market/neighborhood tour with Simon on our first full day in Madrid. We ate super-well and enjoyed his funny, engaging manner and insightful comments. He connected very well with our 2 kids, ages 6 and 8, but the grown-ups also had a blast and learned a great deal about Spanish food and markets. We highly recommend this experience to other families.
Our food tour with Irene was one of the highlights of our trip to Spain. Our family enjoyed walking and eating our way through the Malasana neighborhood with her. We enjoyed trying new tapas, new drinks, and learning about the history and culture of the food and neighborhood. The tour was tailored to meet our dietary needs and we loved everything that we ate. Irene was the perfect guide for us - fun, knowledgeable, and interesting.
Excellent and very fun tour! We loved Margret and the entire tour! Both Amy and Margret did everything to get us to the tour after a late night arrival the night before, a missed alarm clock and waking up ten minutes after the tour had already started!! Food, drinks, and explanations were amazing! Would highly recommend this tour to anyone!
We had such a great evening with Simon! Right from the beginning Simon was engaging and informative about Madrid and its food. We had amazing churros, delicious cured meats, olive oils and met the owners of various booths in the market. One of the highlights was selecting a fish from the fish market and then having it grilled at Barceló Bistro by Jesus (who was very friendly and so nice to hang out with). Would recommend this tour for any families with tweens/teens looking to do something a little different! Simon made sure the tour was geared to our 12 year old daughter who really enjoyed it! The whole process of arranging the tour was well organized. Definitely one of our favorite tours in Spain!
Irene was amazing. Took us to awesome local spots and a fun market. Felt like a local. Ended with a fantastic tapas meal. So much food!
The food tour was really informative and interesting. We tried a variety of local specialties and learned a lot about the cuisine, culture and history of Madrid and Spain. Our guide, Oliver, was incredibly knowledgeable and made the experience fun.
