We pass by Mercado de San Miguel, Spain’s first gourmet market, admiring its historic iron architecture and lively atmosphere from the outside. Due to its popularity and heavy crowds, we don’t enter, but it’s a great spot to learn about Madrid’s modern food scene.
Next, we dive into the vibrant barrio of La Latina, known for its lively food scene and rich history. We’ll visit a hidden gem of a restaurant—tiny, with just six tables—famous for traditional tapas with a creative fusion twist. It’s a local favorite with a buzzing atmosphere!
At our next stop, at Plaza Mayor, we’ll dive into Madrid’s rich history and food culture. Here, you’ll taste the city’s legendary garlic shrimp, sizzling and fragrant, served with freshly baked homemade bread and paired with white or red wine.
We’ll wrap up our tapas adventure with a sweet local dessert near Puerta del Sol, one of Madrid’s most iconic landmarks. After your final bite, your guide will walk you back to the square and share tips for what to see next—or help you find your way home, full and happy!
This was the best tour I have ever done in my entire life. We had Michele as our guide and he was PHENOMENAL. It was some of the best food I have ever had, and took us to spots I would have never had otherwise. I would highly recommend this tour if you want an unforgettable experience!

Our tour was with the lovely Patricia. There was only a small group of us so she was very attentive, made sure we were all in ear shot, and walking at a pace that suited everyone. All of the tapas stops were amazing - favourites were the eggplant and the shrimp specialty! You get a detailed history of Madrid and lots of information about the food and restaurants along the way. Highly recommend!

Definitely Fatima was a fabulous tour guide. She was knowledgeable and friendly. She made the tour super fun. We all enjoyed it. There was something for everybody to try. The tastings were marked array of different items and then with a delicious dessert.

Our tour guide was Patricia and she was wonderful! She took us to 5 places where we ate a variety of foods that we hadn’t had yet while in Madrid. All of the spots were beautiful and had historical significance. Patricia ordered all the food and different drinks at each place for us, and all of her suggestions were incredible. We would recommend this tour to anyone staying in Madrid for a few days and to do it early so you can visit those restaurants again or visit her other recommendations.

Patricia took my boys and I on this tour and I can’t say enough about the experience. We visited small family owned establishments and she provided us such a personal experience at each one. The food and drink were beyond my expectations for this tour. It felt so personal. We got introductions to restaurant owners and their family. She was wonderful with my teenage sons, who admittedly wanted to have off topic conversations, and she engaged with them on every turn they led her on. I would HIGHLY recommend this tour and Patricia. She left a positive mark on our trip to Madrid.
I had an evening tapas tour with Aafke and she was amazing! Not only do you get to try lots of Madrids finest cuisine but Aafke has lots of knowledge on the history of Madrid. A good thing about this tour compared to others is generally the group size is kept small. She was personable and clearly had very good rapport with all the venues we visited, and offered good drinks to order with the tapas. Would gove 6 stars if I could. Thank you Aafke!

I did the tapas tour because I wanted to make good use of my time in the city, eat and drink before going to sleep, and I was lucky to do it with Aafke, because she has great taste and was attentive to the group's needs. Great decision, absolutely recommended.

Aafke our guide was brilliant. She’s been living in Madrid on and off for over 20 years so she knew everything there was to know about the city and its varied foodie scene. We started off I In one of the very old cave market storage restaurants that were once used by the market traders at the nearby Plaza Mayor. We then walked and ate at several more wonderful smallish non tourist places in La Latina and ended up with a dessert that we’d never eaten before that looked like a large doughnut but was made with bread pudding and it was delicious. All in all it was a superb trip, about 3 hours and we loved it and Aafke. Highly recommended.
Last night my wife Karen and I went on a Walking Tapas tour around Madrid with our wonderful host Aafke. As we were the only ones on the tour we feel like we got 5 star treatment and Aafke was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. The bars and restaurants we were taken took were lovely and the food delicious although as I was feeling a little poorly I never got to enjoy it as much as I hoped although Karen made up for that for me! I would highly recommend this tour and hopefully you will be lucky enough to get Aafke as your guide.

Can’t recommend this tour enough!! We had just arrived that day to Madrid and do not speak any Spanish, and had read other reviews saying this was a great way to learn the city, find some great restaurants/ bars with the assistance of an English speaking guide who chooses specialty items to give us a taste of authentic Madrid. This tour did exactly that!! Our tour guide Patricia is what really made this tour special, welcoming, and so much fun! We drank, ate, laughed the whole night! Fatima is a star! She shepherded us thru crowds to find great tapas and learn about local cuisine. She catered to any request and made this tour a wonderful experience! We tried different tapas and drinks in 5 bars and couldn’t eat another bite when we were done! It was great to sample excellent food without having to negotiate through the crowds on our own. Highly recommend this adventure!
