Guadarrama National Park From Madrid

This is just an overview of the National Park. Some walking is involved but not serious hiking. Covering the Sierra de GUADARRAMA in a day was not easy but Angel did it. He also cross-referenced nature with history, art, and literature so the trip itself was within a context. We got the flavors of the Park and will be ready to plan future adventures.

That you might not have access to the hike you expected to do. That the plans for the day might be completely different from what you expected it will be.

They cancelled the tour and didn’t refund the money. Very unprofessional I want my money back !!!! 1 star

The day trip was fun and a great experience. We had a your guide named Lola who made adjustments based on the weather. It was very rainy so she cut the beginning a little short and extended the time later on the tour so that we were able to see better scenery and enjoy the trip overall. I'd do this again and highly recommend it to others

Guide spoke very poor English; car repeatedly stalled because driver was very inexperinced with a 'stick shift' standard vehicle; 'naturalist' tour guide knew nothing about nature; tour was lillte more than a walk along a trail. After a second tour with this company my recommendation is avoid entire tour company.

If you are a hiker you will be disappointed because the tour is more a sightseeing than a hike, but I really enjoyed the tour with our tour guide Angel, a very knowledgeable person. He took us to really nice spots at the Guardarama National Park, and some towns close to the park and sky area .

It was amazing because of the two guides who were with us — Andrea and Lola — who did everything to make sure we had a perfect trip with our little daughters. They adapted the tour to our pace, explained everything with great enthusiasm, and when my girls wanted to dip their feet in the river, they immediately agreed and took us to a suitable spot. Throughout the tour, they made sure to adjust everything in a comfortable way for everyone. Wow — what exceptional and special service! David did a great job. He was entertaining and informative. It rained hard but he was able to modify so we still had a wonderful time.

Clara was an excellent guide giving us lots of interesting information at each stop. I can confidently recommend this tour.

The day was filled with amazing views and a lot of opportunities to stop and take pictures of them. Our driver/guide was very knowledgeable and imparted it in a timely, well thought out manner at our stops. The hikes at the various stops were relatively easy and accurately described in the description of the day on the website. My only criticism of the day was that during our rides to our first stop and between subsequent stops, I could not hear what our guide/driver was saying (I was in the back seat of the 3 row van) as he described the sites we were passing as there was no speaker system and with the road noise and the air system blowing, it was impossible to decipher. All in all, though, it was a memorable day.

This was poorly advertised, as both Viator and the tour operator’s website made it seem like a hiking tour but instead we just drove to different sites, walked around for half an hour, then jumped back in the car. It was a disappointment and not what I was looking for

Angel was an excellent guide! He led us on a lovely experience including hiking and exploring the mountains with great descriptions of the geology, flora, and history of the area. Angel gave us great perspective with his description of the monastery and castle. We highly recommend this trip!

Javi really made this a once in a lifetime experience, I could not recommend this more, absolutely do it!! And on a weekday is best

What a great day! If you want to disconnect from the city rush and connect with nature this is the tour for you. I had a beautiful and peaceful experience, while learning and exploring the park. Javi is a great and experienced guide, would teach all you need to know to have the best experience, making you feel safe and comfortable.. Loved the hike!

A most enjoyable trip with leader Harri. The weather was beautiful and views amazing. The trip was split up into 2 walks and time for lunch break in a pretty mountain village. Terrain was uphill but pace was gentle allowing us to take in the views and practice our walking techniques on the rocky terrain. We were amazed to see snow which had fallen in the previous days when we walked along the puerto de Morcuera. Hari was informative as to the geology and wildlife in the area. Would recommend to everyone who likes to be in the countryside.

This was an amazing hike the sights and views were amazing. The little town we stopped for lunch was so nice as well . Javi was an amazing tour guide.

Xavi was very cooperative and coped with us because we were traveling with 1 Child and 1 baby! He shared his passion for the nature, all with smile and good humour 😊 He also suggested a restaurant which was mindblowing! Overall à great experience !!!

We enjoyed Learning about the various flora and fauna in the park. Javier was very knowledgeable about the rocks and ecosystem that exists in Guadarrama Park. We hiked around 5 km. I recommend eating lunch at Sampedro postería if you can not get a table at the restaurant recommend by Javier. 6th

I knew that when I went to Spain I wanted to get a chance to see some of the incredible natural areas in the country. I had seen Guadarrama National Park was close to Madrid and wanted to go, but I didn't know how I would easily see it without a vehicle. This tour was a great chance to see the National Park and learn more about the natural and cultural history of the area. Javi was an excellent tour guide. We saw quite a bit of the southern and central parts of the national park. The hiking was pretty moderate and I feel that it would be something that many people who go hiking with some frequency could accomplish. This was definitely a highlight of my trip.

The guide was lovely, but I feel the event could have better descriptions. The hike was strenuous with steep climbs, and sharp drops. The rocks were very slippery and better shoes would be recommended. I was expecting a leisurely hike, and it was not that. It would also be nice if they stopped at a restroom prior to lunch (4.5 hours in)

We really enjoyed this day trip out of Madrid. Javier is a knowledgeable guide and enjoyed showing us important hiking tips and telling us about the regional plants and animals. The hikes were fun and views were amazing! Our tour was on a Monday so we did not stop and the castle. I would have enjoyed even just a few minutes to take in the architecture. Regardless we had fun exploring the park with all of our senses.

Javi was a fantastic guide and we thoroughly enjoyed our day of hiking. Javi tailored the morning and afternoon hikes to our family of five's interests. We had a great time, and it was truly refreshing to get out of the city. It was a very peaceful experience and the views were incredible. Javi is very knowledgeable and personable.

I can't give Javi, our tour guide, enough praise! He was so thoughtful, knowledgeable and warm to our group of 4 people. You can tell he put together a well planned tour. His goal was to have us experience the national park with our five senses! I won't spoil any of it, so you'll just have to see for yourself :)

The hiking areas chosen were beautiful and did not exceed the physical capacity of our group members. Guide cared about the region and was familiar with the flora and fauna. It was a challenge to find the meeting point and it would have been helpful to have had detailed directions from the metro. Google maps is useless.

3 hikes in one, all very scenic. Not the most challenging of hikes. They should mention Manzanares Castle is closed on Mondays, which was one of the reasons I chose this tour. But nonetheless, an enjoyable day.

The experience of nature with an outstanding guide was phenomenal. Javier was very knowledgeable and passionate about the national parks we visited.

My partner and I had an amazing time hiking in and learning about the national park with our guide and small group. Javi was a wonderful guide, very knowledgeable and friendly, and a lot of fun. I would highly recommend this experience to active travellers looking for an adventure out of the city.

If you love hiking and getting out into nature this trip is for you! We had a wonderful time in our small group of 5 and completed 3 different hikes. Javier was a perfect guide who provided us with different experiences and led us to great views. The tour was physically challenging, but time flew with the great outdoors and a lot of laughter along the way. Highly recommended and I wouldn't mind doing this tour again if I travel to Madrid in the future. If you do choose this tour, make sure to wear shoes with a good grip - your feet will thank you.

We had an amazing day, guided by a wonderful mountaineer. Javi was very knowledgeable, attentive to our needs, and personally tailored the trip to be just right for the small group (2 couples). Amazing views and an experience for all the senses.

Javier was a wonderful guide. The castle was closed because of the holiday but the hikes were beautiful. Our guide was knowledgeable about the interesting rock formations and also had us just sit for a bit, reminding us of the beauty and stillness of the river and mountain. Our group would definitely do again.

Received email evening before saying not minimum attendees so choice of another day or pay extra, only there for weekend so not much choice really. To not disrupt our plans decided to pay extra place. Later in evening received email saying had been cancelled due to guide having Covid, seemed very strange in such a short time so really disappointed. So overall a really bad experience wasting time and ruining our plans. Won’t ever use this company again. Only positive thing is we did receive a refund as I fully expected that to be a nightmare also.

Amazing experience even with kids! Javier (our guide) was excellent! Very knowledgeable and fun! Its all worth it, the views are breathtaking!!! Strongly recommend!

We had an unusual experience in that my family were the only ones signed up for the trip. Our guide, Geert, therefore offered to personalize the trip itinerary for us. We love hiking, so Geert - a guide for hikers and rock-climbers in this park - took us on an amazing 5-hour hike near Manzanares, with an elevation climb of about 800 meters. He watched out for our well-being the whole time, adjusting the route based on our condition. We saw mountain goats and birds, and lots of spectacular geological formations. We got to see snow-capped peaks, crossed a dozen brooks, and even viewed the Madrid sky-line from a distance. We highly recommend the competency of guides like Geert, and the openness of staff to deal with their customers as the situation warrants.

Very enjoyable tour. As this was just a group of 5 travelling in a minibus, it was much more enjoyable than many other tours that try to have too many people and end up feeling rushed. This tour was totally different and as a result a much more positive experience. We saw beautiful scenery throughout the day and had a good hike that was not too strenuous at all.

Javi was a great guide. Very knowledgeable on the history of the area. He took time to answer all of our questions. Highly recommend this tour. Hike is a bit challenging. Up hill and very rocky. All in all a great experience.

Javi was absolutely wonderful. We rode through the park in a van. Luckily the groups this time was only three people including Javi our guide. He took us to see the best landscape views. Through high mountains, into forests with lots of pine trees. We went through several nice small villages too. The castle was also neat. One of the best days I have had in a long time.

This was the best tour I have ever done in Madrid! Nice small group and great tour guide. Such beautiful scenery so close to Madrid. Wear sturdy shoes and bring water. The views are spectacular!

A very good experience in which you discover the most important points of the Sierra de Guadarrama. We were with Angel and very happy with him both in the planning of the tour, the punctuality, the amount of information he transmits and the kindness and closeness. You have to keep in mind that you are going to walk, so you must wear appropriate clothing and footwear. It is an activity that I recommend to everyone, you spend an unforgettable day. Note: 10/10

This has been one of the most beautiful tours I have ever done. Naturanda offers this tour to know the most beautiful places in the Sierra de Guadarrama, doing some hiking (very accessible) and stopping at sites with beautiful natural views. David, our guide, gave us the extra mile to give us the best experience and the day was absolutely memorable. The visit took place in a van de Naturanda with a small group of participants, giving a very friendly quality and close to the experience. Don't miss this tour!
