The time was too short to visit two wonderful cities. We had no time at all to be able to eat something . We paid to get to walk on the magnificent walls in Ávila, but we couldn’t do it, because, as we were really hungry, we preferred to eat at least a sandwich. We wanted to eat the famous chuleton, but no way. Our tour guide took very long explaining all the details of the fasades, constructions walls, etc., both in Spanish and English, so most of the time we were standing in front of some building without being able to get to know other sites of the cities.

Itinerary
Your first stop will be Salamanca, whose history dates back to Celtic times, very well-known for its ornate sandstone architecture. It was founded in the 12th century and was a key intellectual center in the 15th and 16th centuries. Here, our guide will guide you through the city's most important sites, learning about their history and architectonic characteristics.
The front of the plaza, showing the clock tower in the background and social gatherings in the front. Is a large plaza located in the center of Salamanca, used as a public square. It was built in the traditional Spanish baroque style and is a popular gathering area. Our guide will explain us here about the history on this square.
It is the oldest university in the Hispanic world and the third oldest university in the entire world still in operation. The formal title of "University" was granted by King Alfonso X in 1254 and recognized by Pope Alexander IV in 1255.
The Casa de las Conchas in Salamanca is an old urban palace in the Gothic style with Plateresque elements.
The Plaza del Corrillo is located in the historic center of the city of Salamanca, next to the Plaza Mayor from which it is accessed through the so-called Arco del Corrillo.
If you choose the option, you will visit the inside of the Cathedral of Salamanca, composed of two connected cathedrals: the Old Cathedral and the New Cathedral. The Old Cathedral, built between the 12th and 14th centuries, showcases Romanesque architecture, while the New Cathedral, constructed from the 16th to the 18th century, features a blend of Gothic and Baroque styles. These two cathedrals share a wall and are connected internally, creating a unique fusion of architectural styles. The Cathedral of Salamanca stands as a major historical and cultural landmark and is part of the UNESCO World Heritage site designation for the city.
The second destination is Ávila, famous for its intact medieval walls, with more than 80 semi-circular crenelated towers and 9 gates, including the arched El Alcázar. Our guide will also provide you with the best experience in the city, showing you the best landmarks of the city, while you learn in an enjoyable way.
You will have some free time to visit the inside on your own. Please note that the opening times of the Cathedral may change depending of the time of the year
The Plaza del Mercado Chico, the main square of Ávila, is located in the center of the city, inside the walls. It is a rectangular square with arcades on three of its sides and opposite the church of San Juan Bautista, on the side without arcades.
If you choose the option, at the end of the tour in Ávila, you will visit the Walls of Ávila, completed between the 11th and 14th centuries, are the city of Ávila's principal historic feature. These fortifications are the most complete in all of Spain. We will have the chance to admire them and take pictures of the landscape.

Great experience, our guide, Khan was very informative and funny. The driver Carlos was awesome. Gracias!
We were the only English speakers on the van, and I think we missed a lot of commentary, even though our guide spoke to us in English. The tours gave us a nice glimpse of two very unique cities and we were glad to have seen both.
This is a long day trip around 11-12 hours but it is worth it to me because I get to see 2 cities in one day. Ávila and Salamanca is worth the visit. If you want to get a detailed tour of the city I would recommend spending at least a night in each city. This tour provides the basic highlights of the city. The coach / van provided is clean and comfortable and I Iike it that it is a small group not a busload of people.
The trip is as I expected. Gives us enough time to explore on our own and ideas on the highlights of Salamanca and Avila. Our transportation is comfortable and clean. It’s a good tour, of course just like any day tour you can’t expect to explore the city extensively. Our guide is considerate enough not to walk to fast and let us old farts catch our breath 😅
I booked this trip back in February for 8 th June and Amigo Tours Cancelled it ( for unseen circumstances) they offered me an alternative date for 6 th June which I accepted and they have just cancelled that date ( for unforeseen circumstances) we are now unable to visit Salamanca as we return home on the 10th and they are saying the next availability is the 12 th. Amigo Tours are a very incompetent company who offer very bad customer service. Ie They don’t give a damn.
All was organized very well. All was described on time: meeting point and so on... Good guide and good chauffeur... Beautiful sites.
Avila is pretty, and we got to walk up the wall to have good views of the surrounding. The visitor center has clean bathrooms. The tour is conducted in both Spanish and English at the same time, and there is no head set. It would have been better if there are separate guides with different languages and a head set for each person.
While it was a long bus ride we got to visit 2 world heritage sites outside of the city while staying in Madrid. Our guide Khan provided bilingual information as our tour group was made of English and Spanish speakers. He did a great job describing the history of Salamanca University and later the ciry of Avila. We had a 20 minute break during the long drive and plenty of time for lunch and self exploration.
It was perfect.Ciri was very kind
Segovia was AMAZING!! The only thing I can say about this tour is do NOT add in the lunch. We didn't have time to eat the dessert. They were VERY slow and we didn't get a chance to see or shop at all. Get lunch on your own.
I booked on Civitatis, not even them (never had heard of Amigos Tour) a day trip to Salamanca and Avila for my mum and aunts and a week before, AMIGOS sends me a Whatsapp cancelling the whole thing (all paid). No explanations. Civitatis knew nothing about it, and by reading the reviews on Amigos Tours on Google, Trustpilot and others I see now they do this often. You think you’re safe because Civitatis are well known, but they couldn’t care less. You know what explanation Civitatis/Amigos gave me? An issue with the bus! As if they couldn’t fix a bus in one week or get, maybe, another bus being this their entire JOB? Bus tours?
The overall tour was super nice, our driver and guide were charismatic and welcoming! The cities are beautiful and I definitely recommend seeing the cathedral! Some remarks which might not impact everyone but I wanted to share cause it was a surprise/impacted my tour: 1. The journey is a bit tiring, due to the distance of the cities, so definitely prepare yourself for a long time on the bus, around 5 and a half hours 2. Something to note which I personally didn't realize before the tour started is that it is a bilingual tour which means everything is repeated twice, it does get a bit tiring by the end of the day. Especially if you can understand both languages 3. If you are a taller/bigger person you might find the seats a bit uncomfortable. I'm 5'8/172cm and my knees were a cm away from the seat in front, also I definitely had to squeeze my mom a bit during the tour to fit more comfortably in the seat.
Good small size tour, enjoyable, a lot of free times, still leave and arrive back in Madrid on-time.
Was a very good tour. Nacho was very knowledgeable and how he switched back and forth between Spanish and English was impressive. We left and arrived back on time.
These are amazing places, and Ignacio was great at explaining the history, but it felt like we needed an extra hour in Salamanca to wander around. Avila is an amazing place and the time we had was just enough to enjoy the city walls. Great history from both places, I highly recommend this tour, do not go if you have problems with mobility.
Both destinations are amazing and deserve to go there. But the guide was really bad. Very poor English. She spoke 20 min in Spanish and 5 min in English. Did not make sense to ask her questions and even when asked no good answers. So moderate rating is only because the destinations were amazing and even not qualified guide could spoiled the impression
We took the tour to see Salamanca and Ávila. Our guide Ignacio was amazing. Throughout the tour he enthusiastically explained the rich history of the country, cities and villages we visited. He gladly answered everyone’s questions and was full of knowledge. What an enjoyable experience we had. We definitely will look for Amigo tours again.
Really good trip. Highly recommend this one. Can't miss it. Great guide and driver. Plus benefit of being in a small group
Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and passionate, making the experience truly engaging. Additionally, the driver was very friendly and ensured a safe journey.
Everything was well organized and on time. Our guide was amazing – friendly, knowledgeable, and very passionate about the history of both cities. She made the trip so enjoyable and informative. Highly recommended! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
The trip to Salamanca is pretty long, but definitely worth it. Our guide was super friendly and made the experience really enjoyable. Since the ride takes a while, you don’t get tons of time to explore, but it’s a nice way to get a good overview of the city.
Nice, interesting and well organized trip. Both cities are amazing and worth to visit. I would wish to have more free time in Avila since walk along the city walls is not part of the tour and within the given free time you can hardly manage it.
What a packed day tour. We started at Salamanca and then visited Ávila. Both were amazing places. Wish we could stay longer but it is far drive. Due to long bus rides, it was very nice for them to consider bathroom breaks and coffee or snack breaks. Would recommend
I visited Salamanca and Avila trip, tour was well-organized and guide was explaining everything regarding sites we visited. We also had free time to roam around in beautiful cities.
Nice trip. The driver was a safe driver and the tour guide, Hahn, was very informative and enthusiastically made the trip a very good educational experience. Salamanca and Avila are definitely worth going to and the Cathedral was so big in Salamanca and in Avila there was a mideval fair and people with period costumes. Overall, great trip
Far too many in the group and one couple had brought a child in a push chair which screamed so much the guide had to stop her commentary. There should definitely be an upper age limit especially on a tour of this length, 11 hours. This definitely put a damper on my enjoyment. Salamanca was impressive and Avila from a distance is stunning but not so much when you get inside the walls.
While in Madrid, I was looking at visiting Salamanca, and I researched the train timetables. I found that getting there directly by train was not easy, and there weren’t that many trains. Booking this trip was a very good alternative. I had a guide that brought a group to see Salamanca, and as a bonus, I also got to see Ávila. In Salamanca, we were given a tour of some of the important sights in Salamanca, and we were also given information on where we could buy lunch. The cathedral in Salamanca was included, and this was the most important thing to see, so I was glad it was included. If you want, you can also climb the tower for a panoramic view of Salamanca. This is not included, but the cost is very low. After Salamanca we were given a tour of Ávila, and as a bonus, we had a free tasting of some of the local sweet treats made there. We were given free time to explore Ávila and a meeting time. The streets inside the city walls of Ávila can be a bit of a maze, so it is important to not get lost inside the walls while the meeting time to get back to Madrid approaches.
Tour was very nice. well organized and planned. The guides we organized, clear and very personable. Me and my family had a great time. The bus was clean and comfortable. The guides did a good amount of walking tour then we had some free time for ourselves to explore the cities and shop. was a good value and we would use them or recommend them to others.
Both cities were amazing. It was great having a tour that went to both cities. Like many tours similar to this it would have been perfect to have 1 more hour in each place. Ignacio was a great tour guide.
Great experience The bus was on time and having the opportunity to visit both UNESCO Heritage cities in the same day was great.
Everything was planned to the finest detail. I just wish I had more time in Salamanca - maybe an option would be to have a trip with just Salamanca.
We had a great experience visiting many Avila and Salamanca sites in 1 day. The tour guide was very attentive. The bus coach was comfy and not crowded.
Excellent. The tour guy was amazing. Everything was on time. The two cities were out of this world 🌎
salamanca was an amazing city. avila was.okay to say the least. wish we could.have stayed longer in salamanca to further explore the city and the university. tour guide was very articulate and.knowledgeable
The trip was excellent. Ignacio our tour guide was very nice and Nuria the driver very good. They made our time pleasant.
The places are beautiful but I feel that we just paid for the ride. The guide was knowledgeable but we felt that he was not giving us much info. He seemed Rushed.
The tour went beyond expectation. Ignacio was very knowledgeable. It was going very well until the rain cut the tour short. I would do the tour again in the future.
This was an excellent excursion from start to finish. Our guide was enthusiastic and delivered the content, bilingually, without hesitation. This also alternated from place to place as well. It was definitely a highlight excursion and the beauty was the right amount of free time we had. Lunch stops and toilet breaks included. As mentioned, the guide would have done this tour on numerous occasions but her enthusiasm did not wane. The coach was extremely comfortable with a safe driver. One of the best tours I have experienced and I have done many over the years.
Ignacio excellent tour guys. Awesomely managed and narrated diverse groups in both English and Spanish. Miguel Angel amazing driver. Gracias. Great experience!!
The bus was comfortable. We had a tour guide who was speaking in Spanish and English. In both places we had some time to explore ourselves the cities and take pictures.
Covered so much history. It was great. Both towns complemented each other. I would recommend. Our tour guide was great
Ines Lopez and Raul (driver) were polite and knew their job. They provided not only a safe environment for all, but also their knowledge about the places was really good. Highly recommended
Really loved the stop at Avila! Gorgeous walled village! Salamanca was quite interesting too! Will love to spend more time at Avila.
In general, the tour was good, but they wasted a lot of time which left little time to see the last stop Avila. At 9:30am they stopped for breakfast this took 30 minutes out of our time. There was no need for this, and they didn't tell the people to pick something up and go. Then in Avila they stopped us at some cookie store for 30 minutes while we got a sales pitch (I'm sure the tour company got a commission on the sales). Then when I asked if we had time to see explore Avila or see the cathedral, I was told there wasn't enough time. We wasted 1 hour that could have been better used. To be fair our guide Irene was nice and knowledgeable, but I really can 't recommend this tour.
First we were very happy with Irene our tour guide. However the tour was not well organized, we stopped at 930 for breakfast losing 30 min then at our last stop we had a cookie sales pitch at a local store in Avila. We had no free time in avila, the lost hour would have been great. I must think the tour company has a deal with the cookie store. Also the bus was uncomfortable, too small. I don't think I can recommend.
Our guide Irene was fantastic! She was very knowledgeable and made sure the tour information was always provided in English despite being only 3 of the group of 20 that needed it. The stops for breaks for food/bathrooms/etc were well timed and she had great suggestions for use of our allotted personal time at each place. Highly recommend both historical cities.
My most memorable moments were when I arrived in Avila and saw those walls. I was impressed by how they built fortified cities to protect themselves from their enemies and in Salamanca the architecture of the cathedrals, those details whoa! and the fact that Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra sat in the Plaza Mayor, who knows if he didn't find inspiration to write one of his great literary works?
Comfortable bus ride, informative tour guide. Liked having free time. Enjoyed the tour very much! Returned to Salamanca for the first time in many years and lived it!
Our guide, Cristina, was very friendly and personable. We would have loved more time in Salamanca, but we enjoyed our time in both places.
