Overall very confusing, so many different travel agents involved. I thought I had booked with Fun and Tickets, but didn’t realise Trip Advisor was involved. When we arrived at Fun and Tickets were were told it was with Julia travel and a different pickup point . When I contacted them they said that the trip had left. Then told the trip was with Viator. I didn’t receive any travel and pickup notice until day of travel but I was still going with information from Fun and tickets. I shall not use your company again it cost me an extra night hotel in Madrid and no experience which we had been waiting to enjoyformonths.

Itinerary
Check in at our office in central Madrid 15 minutes in advance of your tour. Leave the city aboard one of our comfortable air-conditioned coaches. Enjoy your visit through the Royal Monastery of El Escorial, an architectural ensemble declared World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Built in the 16th century, it is a symbol of the power of the government at the time. Accompanied by your guide, you will discover the most important areas of the monument. Of Renaissance style, you will marvel at the building symmetry as you walk along the site visiting the Habsburg’s Palace, the Chapter House, the Basilica and the remarkable library.
Visit the Valley of the Fallen, get back on the bus for the short journey to the next destination. The Valley of the Fallen is located 9km away from El Escorial, in Sierra de Guadarrama. You will be able to see it from far away thanks to the monumental cross built above the site. The monument is an underground church built into the mountain. The same is topped by the World’s Largest Cross, which can be seen from miles away.

The library of El Escorial was breathtaking! There were many stairs through out the tour but our tour guide Cristina constantly checked in to make sure everyone was Comfortable and enjoying the tour. It was a lovely excursion!
Excelente day with the guide, Irene.
Absolutely enjoyed the tour with Sussana today!

Everything good, and the guide sosana is professional
This was an absolutely wonderful experience, our guide Christina was amazing her language skills left us feeling embarrassed with our own meager language skills. Christina introduced us to history and events we would never have known about or understood without her knowledge and enthusiasm.
This was booked as a tour in English. The majority of guests were Spanish-speakers, so the guide (Susana) spoke much more in Spanish (which we understand reasonably well) and gave much shorter descriptions in English. While she had a lot of information, her accent made it difficult to understand her at times. While we greatly enjoyed visiting the 2 important historical sites, we would not have booked this tour considering the language obstacles encountered.
The guide Mateo was extremely friendly and helpful. Escorial itself was a beautiful place with the basilica and the palace!
Well worth the trip! Toledo is a beautiful city - full of history and faith. It is an easy walking tour, with interesting stops, and a delicious tapas lunch!
Our guide Susana was excellent. Amazing tour to not be missed if want to see El Escorial and the Fallen Valley.
Beautiful city. Susanna was a great tour guide. Very punctual and was able to give lots of interesting information on the history cathedrals and other parts of the city.
We took a bus up to El Escorial from Madrid and had a brilliant day out, high in the mountains, in winter with snow on the ground. Despite the cold, it was sunny and clear with great views and lovely gardens which must be beautiful in spring and summer. The palaces and grounds are well worth exploring. The town of San Lorenzo de El Escorial should also be explored with its lovely streets, shops and cafes before returning to the city.
Very enjoyable and interesting trip. Our guide was great. Very knowledgeable. We were the only non-Spanish speakers on the trip but she ensured we were not left out. Thank you.
Thanks to Susana Very professional and excellent service. We highly recommend Gracias
I toured El Escorial and Valley of the Fallen through Julia Travel on June 17th. Overall, the sites visited on this tour were beautiful and well worth seeing. Breathtaking art! The transportation was comfortable, there were adequate restroom opportunities throughout the day, and the guide was friendly, conscientious, and clearly committed to providing a good experience. However, there were several areas where the tour could be improved. Prior to the tour, I received no response to my Viator inquiry regarding food and water availability. At check-in, I was told there would be opportunities to purchase refreshments during the tour, but this was not the case. Had I received accurate information, I would have brought food and extra water with me . Given the length and cost of the tour, providing bottled water would be a welcome addition. I was also disappointed by the bilingual format. As one of only a few English-speaking participants, it was apparent that the Spanish explanations were often more detailed than the English translations, and in some cases information or instructions were not fully conveyed in English. (My Spanish skills are intermediate level, so I am confident about that statement.) If tours are offered in multiple languages, additional time should be allocated to ensure all participants receive the same quality and depth of information. Additionally, the tour description should be updated to remove references to the funicular at the Valley of the Fallen, as it has not operated for many years and is not part of the current experience. While I enjoyed the destinations themselves, I would only recommend this tour if offered in a single language or if the bilingual experience is improved. Future participants should also be advised to bring extra water and a snack.
Well paced and informative. The Valley of the Fallen was very powerful.
Silvia was amazing as a guide - she was informative, lively and entertaining at the same time! We enjoyed the tour and wished we booked another tour with her.
Enjoyed both sites! The history of El Escorial and the rugged beauty of Valley of the Fallen. Sylvia was great! Knowledgeable, friendly, and open to questions
We had a great time with Sylvia as our tour guide. Beautiful scenery and meaningful locations.
Great views and history .loved the trip and guide was very knowledgeable
Good tour covering both sites well. Shame about the weather!
Mateo was a very knowledgeable and helpful guide. His compassion for my wife’s trouble with stairs was a lifesaver. He answered every question fully, and went out of his way to make sure we had a good experience.
Juan drove us very smoothly. The ride was comfortable. Mateo was a very attentive and careful guide. We learned a great deal from him. He was interesting and knowledgeable.
Well-organized tour. Christina provided clear commentary in Spanish and English. Both sights can’t-miss if you visit the Madrid area
Silvia was amazing! Super knowledgeable and easy to understand. Would love to recommend this tour to anyone travel to Spain.
Guide Silvia was excellent. Wish we had longer time at Valle de los Caídos.
The guide Christina was excellent. She was knowledgeable and considerate. The service at Julia's was brilliant and all of the staff were very service minded. I would definitely recommend booking tours with them.
Very well organised, tourguide is extremely knowledgable about the subject. Applause for Jorge Torres.
Packed a lot into a half day trip. Jorge Dorez was informative, helpful and friendly with very good English. Beautiful scenery. Warning though, if you’re not good with stairs it may not be suitable for you.
Excellent half day trip from Madrid. Escorial is definitely worth the trip and Valley of the Fallen is beautifully situated
Wonderful experience and really nice guide.
Fabulous tour of the Monastery and Valley of the Fallen. We enjoyed the historic facts and Christina was exceptional in delivering information. The tour was well timed and fulfilling! Certainly would recommend!😁
Not enough time was given to enjoy. Since I have limited Spanish skills, I booked this tour for English speakers. The tour guide spoke mostly Spanish. He would speak for 10 minutes in Spanish, then speak in English for 2 -3 minutes.
Great tour, Jorge was a very nice guide. Make sure to eat breakfast beforehand there are no stops for snacks or lunch
Such a wonderful trip, worth it and the guide was also awesome
Our tour guide Jorge was very informative & kept the group entertained throughout the tour. Unfortunately it turns out Eliza Doolittle wasn’t telling the whole truth because the Rain in Spain was certainly present in the Sierra de Guadarrama mountain range this morning However dodging the showers didn’t spoil a great tour, but I imagine the views would have been better without.
Jorge was a great guide! He was funny and knowledgeable. Juan Manuel was an amazing driver. The tour was better than expected. Had a great time!.
Very nice tour - tour was very organized, on time and our guide was great. Only downside was weather was cold and very foggy so made seeing some things difficult. Not the tour’s fault!!
Very good experience, Carlos Torres, tourist guide with great knowledge of the place and history. Time of the visit is good.
Molt bona JORGE Y RODOLFO MUY BIEN.
Our guide Jorge did a great job explaining things and sharing many interesting facts. Really enjoyed my day exploring this beautiful monetary and valley.
Jorge the guide was very knowledgeable and courteous. The itinerary/ logistics of Escorial seemed like too much & Valley of the Fallen seemed like too little
It was a fantastic experience! Jorge the tour guide, showed to have extensive mastery and knowledge, not only of the places visited, but also of the history of Spain. It made the tour very interesting, educational and cultured I recommend it 100% with Jorge!. Also David the bus driver was very careful while driving very kind and helpfu!
Great experience! The tour was well-organized and comfortable. ,Highly recommend the Escorial & Valle tour it’s a must if you visit Madrid
Jose Luis was our guide. He was a very knowledgeable guide, highly recommended! Comfortable bus, excellent driver, Israel.
Jose Luis was amazing! So knowledgeable and friendly. This honestly is such a great day trip as it’s close to Madrid and covers both Escorial and the valley of the fallen Highly recommend
The English of the tour leader was pretty average. She seemed to give more information in Spanish than English. She also did not ask one of the participants which coughed consistently to wear a mask or give him one to wear. The Valley of the Fallen was impressive.
Excellent yesterday morning/early afternoon tour at El Escorial and Valle de los Caidos. We left on time from Madrid for a pleasant 50 minutes drive to El Escorial first. Our guide did an excellent job of giving us information in both Spanish and English. We visited many rooms with beautiful artwork. Especially notable were the frescos, the crypt and the library. We then drove to Valle de los Caidos, 20 minutes away. Separating out the politics as to why they were built, the statue and the basilica were very impressive. We couldn’t stay long because there was going to be a wedding, but we did get to visit the inside of the basilica. Again, excellent tour, bus driver and guide!
Our guide Jorge was excellent. He spoke in Spanish and English. Very knowledgeable on the history and subject at hand. Our driver Manuel was also good getting us to and from our destination.
