This is a refurbished hotel that became a Marriott in 2025. It has a perfect location on Calle Princesa, next to El Corte Inglés department store, a short walk away from many attractions. Yet, it is not in the most tourist crowded area of the city. The rooms are nicely decorated and the bathroom is functional. Water pressure is good. Noise isolation between rooms isn’t the best, unfortunately. Excellent beds. The M Club lounge has one of the best food servings in Europe. I had breakfast in the main restaurant but used the lounge frequently during my stay. They offer a cold buffet during the day. Also cava, wine and beer are available all day. Hot dinner is served every night between 7 pm and 9:30. The food is really delicious. Service in the M Club was uneven, not up to Marriott standards every day. They don’t replenish the drinks without asking, and they don’t open wine bottles. They also keep asking for your room number after several days of staying (which is a bit odd since the club door won’t open without an appropriate keycard). Breakfast at the restaurant was excellent and the staff friendly and efficient. Overall a very nice hotel.

Just spent three weeks in this hotel. The highlight was the bartender Marcelo who made me feel welcome every day. The rooms were good. Recently remodeled. Downside: construction next door with noise.
First time visiting this hotel from out of the country. The breakfast is amazing and they have a buffet with a variety to choose from. I’m leaving 2 stars instead of 1 due to the staff is very friendly and accommodating. The first room I stayed in didn’t have AC and the sink seem like it had plumbing issues so they moved me to a second room. The second room also did not have AC so they called a technician and he told them the air was blowing out weak, so they moved me to a third room. They upgraded the room but this room also didn’t have AC and the shower would overflow when running it and it came out on the floor flowing towards the toilet and into entrance of the bedroom. The trash also wasn't taken out prior to move in. I’ve only been here 1 full day and I’ve already stayed in 3 rooms
Family suite was exceptional. It’s two bedrooms, one with a separate door. The room with a door is technically a common space with a large TV, marble dining table, and a fold out couch that is two separate twin beds next to each other. Great if you have kids that wake in the middle of the night and you need to shield the rest of the family from their noise. Ample comfortable seating which is great for hosting or simply relaxing with family. Decor is well appointed! Modern marble and wood touches, and glowing lighting. Bathroom shower is one of those annoying designs where they don’t have a completely enclosed shower (it’s a partial glass wall) so water inevitably splashes out. It’s a nice rainforest overhead waterfall type showerhead. Air conditioning makes this place so comfortable I hardly want to leave and explore this 100F+ city. Lobby is cool temperature wise as well, but the fragrance strength is assaulting. At the corner of this block, next door to this hotel is a large department store El Cortes Ingles. The basement has a grocery store which is great for milk, fruit, bread, pastries, water, diapers, and whatever you might need for a kid. Across the street is a giant Zara too. Super easy to get cabs from here. By the way, Ubers are required to drive kids with car seats. So if the driver doesn’t have one (likely) and you don’t have one, you can’t get in the car with a kid. This rule doesn’t apply to city taxis though so you can hop in with a kid without a car seat.
Located near Gran Vía, on the opposite end from Cibeles, the Hotel Princesa Plaza (currently a Marriott) sits in a very convenient area for exploring central Madrid. It is within easy walking distance of several major landmarks: Plaza España (450 m), Royal Palace (900 m), and Callao (1 km). The neighborhood also offers excellent shopping options, including El Corte Inglés Princesa, just a short walk away. The hotel features an M Club with truly outstanding hot food offerings and a wonderful team running it—one of the highlights of the property. There is also a restaurant where breakfast is served, offering a very extensive selection, including churros from Ginés. They may taste better at San Ginés itself, but having them at the hotel is still a thoughtful touch. Rooms are extremely comfortable, clean, and well maintained. The beds are excellent, and the hotel uses the classic Marriott toiletries. A detail worth noting: this is one of the few hotels where I’ve seen staff lift the entire bed structure with a built‑in hoist to clean underneath—impressive attention to detail and hygiene. They do need to refit some curtains. The front desk team is spectacular: friendly, proactive, and always willing to help. In fact, the entire hotel staff is exceptional (with highlight like Paco in front desk and the lady in the M club) creating a warm, professional atmosphere that makes the property one of the best bases for discovering Madrid. Overall, Hotel Princesa Plaza offers comfort, great service, and an unbeatable location, making it an excellent choice for any stay in the Spanish capital.
