Madeira’s favourable location allows us to cross paths with a great variety of cetaceans. As the majority of these animals are migratory, their coordinates are always different. It is up to our Spotter on land to locate them with the help of binoculars & inform our crew, allowing a gentle approach & close encounters. Our RIB Boat allows us to act quickly, which not only provides higher chances to see cetaceans but also we have more time to keep on searching for other species. Our goal is to show you as much as possible from what nature has to offer!
Fab experience. Saw several pods of Pilot whales very close up. Guide was very informative and spoke excellent English. We got a close up tour of the dramatic Madeira cliffs on the way past with lots of interesting facts. Felt very well looked after and informed.
We had a great tour, very experienced captain, so knowledgeable and nice tour guide and we saw huge group of dolphins. We spent a long time trailing them and it was an unforgettable experience for us. We were even waiting for 10 minutes for 2 whales to come up from the sea depth below us but unfortunately they didn't. We received lots of pictures of the spotted dolphins on our email shortly after the tour. I would also highlight the price of the tour that was very reasonable compared to other tour operators. The customer service when booking the tour was also 5*. We would definitely recommend this company!
Great tour to see pods of dolphins. We got in and were towed behind the boat to swim with the dolphins which was worth every penny. Need to be a competent swimmer and snorkeler as you don’t have a life vest or wet suit but did not worry us. Was an unreal experience.
I had a great time with the team, good safety instructions and preo for the trip. We got to see a turtle and 2 different dolphins in 2 family's. Really appreciated that they sent photos of the trip afterwards to complement my filming.
This was the most amazing experience. Me and my partner tried the Funchal Dolphin watching and saw nothing and was unsure whether to risk booking with H2O. However we did and it was the most amazing experience. The staff are amazing, and so lovely. They give you time to see the animals, give you a backstory of the animals and many chances around different areas to spot some. Today (5/10/2026) we saw 3 different species. Including the Pilot Whale. The reviews were not lying it is such a fantastic experience and best believe I’d come back here over and over again!
We really had a great time the tour and boat trip was very fun. The tour guide were friendly and helpful. We spotter dolphins and had a fun speedy trip. Didn't disappoint. The tour guide have compassion for the nature and animals and they are open for questions. If I could I would visit again in hope to see some whales.
Today I went on a dolphin and whale-watching trip with H2O. It was fantastic! We saw sperm whales, and although the dolphins had already moved on, we got to see flying fish instead. The guys at H2O really go the extra mile to make sure you have a great experience, and it’s clear that they have a lot of experience.
Excellent trip, well worth the money, we saw dolphins 2 types, whales and flying fish. Plus the actual boat ride was exciting, and the staff were informative and very friendly, I loved it and would go again.

The boat ride alone was worth the money - great fun plunging over the waves- and then we got to see Bottle nose dolphins , pilot Whales and a Humpback Whale- totally amazing experience great guides and a really relaxed atmosphere. Then to top it off they email out photos taken during our trip- so much better than mine 😂
Fast boat, fun waves, and Mother Nature at its best, with wild dolphins swimming freely around you. It’s one of those things you simply have to experience in Madeira, and I can definitely say that H2O Madeira is the best way to do it! Best wishes to Luca, who was our guide two days in a row. I highly recommend tours with H2O Madeira. They have a simple booking system and excellent customer service. Both the skipper and the guide were very friendly, helpful, and eager to share their knowledge. I didn't see any marine mammals on my first trip—naturally, there are no guarantees when it comes to wildlife—but the boat ride itself was a cool. Upon returning, I was offered the choice of a refund or rescheduling the tour; I chose to go out again, and the second time, we encountered three different species of dolphins, seeing both small groups and large pods. H2O takes great care not to disturb the animals, which is a real plus. A moving and beautiful experience—I will definitely be back! 💙
We went out on their whale and dolphin boat tour on Tuesday 25th August and within five minutes, we were surrounded by spotted dolphins. Things got even better when we got to see two incredible sperm whales! Our guide was excellent—so funny and packed full of interesting facts (sadly didn't get his name, but he was brilliant!). Cannot recommend this company enough! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

An amazing experience with a talented and knowledgable crew , we were lucky enough to see a brides whale , pilot whales and bottle nosed dolphins . And was an excellent start to our 30th anniversary day !!
On time, well organized, profesional service, comfortable boats, not too crowdy, friendly skipper & guide, was worth the price for sure. We saw pilot whales and even a hammerhead shark.
Everything was perfect - knowledgeable team and we got to see dolphins, turtles, whales and some interesting sea birds. The RIB boat is great fun and a much better way of doing this activity. Highly recommended
We chose the 0930 tour. Family of 5. We all thoroughly enjoyed the trip. Fun and fast ribs (windy and bumpy. If you like fairground rides, you'll be fine!). Knowledgeable and friendly skipper and guide. We saw bottlenosed dolphins and pilot whales as well as flying fish! Brilliant morning out. Would highly recommend. If you get motion sickness, meds beforehand are needed. A couple of folk on our boat were sick.
Absolutely fantastic - cannot recommend enough. Guide, skipper and boat all amazing. Total ignorance on our part- We hadn’t anticipated cold from spray and how wet we would get! Also be prepared to hold on tight if you are new to this like us. It was absolutely amazing and we will forever hold memories of how lucky we were to see so many dolphins - amazing. Thank you
The absolute highlight of our holiday. Loved every minute. The crew are incredibly knowledgeable and the rib boat lets you get super close to the animals, as well as being very good fun. We enjoyed it so much we have booked to go again on the last day of our trip! Can’t wait!

Amazing experience from start to finish. Guides were friendly and knowledgeable. Saw plenty of wildlife (Inc X2 types of Dolphin), views of the island from the boat were stunning and the boat ride itself was incredible! Best day of the holiday so far according to our 3 teenagers - thank you H20 Madeira! Highly recommend.

Great operators. They have spotters on land to find whales. Dolphins are guaranteed, or you will get the money back. Really concerned about the environment, we stopped several times to pick up trash from the ocean. ❤️
Wonderful trip. Saw a lot and had lots explained about the sea, the marine life, and Madeira. A very nice tour guide explained everything in a fun and engaging way. The boat was also great. You sit on it like a kind of horse, which is a unique but very pleasant experience. At the end of the trip, they raced fast across the sea and through the turns – it was all really super fun! Definitely recommended!
Everything was perfect, very fruendly guides, we saw multiple groups of dolphins. The guides were also considerate not to disturb the animals or birds which was very nice.
Amazing experience! Although the ocean was quite wavy, but that just made our ride more fun with some splashes and “rollercoaster ride” experience 🤩 We had an opportunity to watch pilot whale big family from very close and even saw sea turtles! My kids are saying that this is the highlight of our entire trip to Madeira and I would definitely recommend this experience!

Fantastic experience! Got to see dolphins, whales and a turtle and for an additional 20 euro, was I even able to snorkle/swim close to the dolphins. Everything is done with respect for the animals and in small boats (10 people). Pictures are send afterwards.
this was an absolutely incredible experience. We saw so many dolphins & 2 whales! the dolphins were so playful and entertaining and they were following our boat!! they also did some jumps and flips back into the water. The lady on the boat also tells you facts & stuff about the types of whales and dolphins that we saw. if i could rate this more stars i would! thank you so much Amy & David

Fantastic trip with the team from H2O in Calheta on 9th June - we were lucky to see a large pod of dolphins, a sperm whale and her calf and also some Bryde's whales - plus flying fish on our way back to port! Our guide, Julia, help make the trip, identifying and describing what we were seeing. They also shared pictures from the trip with us the following day, which was a nice surprise. A memorable experience!

Our guide kept us informed with useful snippets of info about the different species The crew looked after us well and treated us like valued customers. Would book again.
It was an amazing trip; the guides were incredibly knowledgeable, kept us entertained with their stories and some thrilling boat rides on the ocean, but best of all, we saw dolphins and whales – these memories will stay with us for the rest of our lives :) We highly recommend it!!!

Very enjoyable boat ride and we were lucky enough to see Bryde whales! Professional and informative employees. They also shared pictures of the whales taken on their telephoto lens. Definitely would recommend and go out with them again.
1st class trip… lovely clean and comfortable rib boats that seat 12. 1st day we were warned conditions were poor but they would give it ago. We had a great 45mins adventure riding the waves!!! As we had not spotted the guarantee kicks in so we could have a full refund or book again. We went back the next day in great conditions! Saw a pod of about 30 dolphins, 2 x bride whales then sped off on a tip about “ghost” whales that can spend up to 3hrs under water… we sat patiently waiting and 20 mins in we spotted 2 of them! Got really close, but always a good distance as to not disturb the wildlife. Staff were really informative and we had lots of time just being able to watch the dolphins and whales at play. Overall the whole experience was really amazing and loved by us all.
Amazing! We went out on our booked date but the sea was rough and they explained they were not sure we would see anything but they would try… we gave up after 30 mins and was offered a refund or to rebook. We came back the next day, saw 4 whales, loads of dolphin and a turtle! The team were so passionate and it felt like they really wanted viewing's. We got a tip off for some ‘ghost whales’ and they sped off to try and spot them! They seemed genuinely happier than us to see them! Great boat, great crew and great experience x

We went on the 3.30 tour yesterday and had such a wonderful time. I was a bit apprehensive as get sea sick but after taking a tablet was completely fine (sit towards the back of the rib). Was also unsure about suitability for children but our 5+8 year old really enjoyed it and were ready to go again today. We saw both whales and dolphins only a few minutes after leaving. We stayed with them for a while so everyone could enjoy but the guides were careful not to stay too long or go too close. They were also knowledgeable about the animals we encountered. We managed to get some great photos and videos ourselves but received via email some photos taken by the guides on our trip. Excellent company and would highly recommend.
We've had an amazing experience and were lucky to see dolphins and a whale swimming alongside our boat. We were nearing the end of the trip (timewise) but the crew still made the effort to go find the whale because the spotters had seen it. Our tour took 30 minutes longer than planned just so we could see the whale. Very grateful and appreciative! Highly recommend!
