We had a first class day out with Dino from Summer Anatomy tours. Pick up 8:30am from our apartment. The tour of the east was relaxed and informative and at a pace that suited us. Our guide was extremely knowledgable, courteous and a great ambassador for the island and his company. We all felt very safe with Dino at the wheel!
Our tour of the East Coast was amazing on 27th June. Unfortunately we didn't manage to get views of Pica da Adaga because of the low cloud but our tour guide Deano made up for missing this by taking us to extra view points. Deano was very knowledgeable and about the island and a fantastic guide. There was only four of us on the tour and he made sure everyone enjoyed it. The traditional houses at Santanna were lovely and Manuel welcomed us into his home, gave us a coffee liqueur and took a photo of us outside his house, which was fantastic. Great way to see that there is much more to Madeira and it's people that what is seen in just Funchal and the hotel zone.
It’s very dependent upon the weather- unfortunately when it rains in Madeira the clouds stop you from seeing the full views from the mountain tops. Dino was an excellent, knowledgable and passionate guide and comes highly recommended.
Last week we did a tour of Madeira east side with our driver / guide Dinarte (Dino). He kept our small group (4) entertained with his stories and knowledge of the island while negotiating some challenging driving conditions and hire cars! The tour lasted nearly 8 hours with an hour for lunch. The tour included a visit to the highest peak, a visit to a trout farm which kept the local rivers populated, a private visit to an authentic original house of Santana and a visit to a rum factory using the original steam driven machinery. A great day out made extra special by Dino.

I’m visiting from the USA and had the pleasure of taking an East Side Madeira tour with my family—and it truly exceeded all expectations. He shares so much rich history and insight along the way, going far beyond what you would expect from a typical tour. Dinarte is patient, polite, and incredibly attentive to every detail. He never rushes, making sure everyone feels comfortable and fully enjoys each stop. His English is fluent, making communication seamless, and the vehicle was spotless and very comfortable. The price is very low for the incredible experience you receive on a 6-7 hr tour. You can tell he genuinely loves what he does and takes pride in showcasing the beauty of Madeira. IF YOU ARE CONSIDERING A TOUR, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY. YOU WILL NOT REGRET!!!!! Can't wait to do the West side.

I would highly recommend using this company. From booking to dropping off, the whole experience was great. Dino was informative with his knowledge of most topics. His driving was always safe and considerate to the group even before he found out I was a driving instructor back in the UK! The itinerary gave a great overall showcase of the East of the island from spectacular mountains with beautiful views. (Insider joke as I hate heights and one as soon as I was told there was a beautiful view I needed to look up not down!) To lovely little coves on the beach. The vehicle was clean, tidy and definitely fit for the job. The tour lasted most of the day and it's definitely value for money.
This is an amazing tour to visit this area of Madeira without having to get stressed driving around. Our tour guide Mr Dino is exceptional full of knowledge about the area as well as an amazing kind individual. We had a great time on this tour, well organised and lovely to just be in a smaller group. We were lucky with the weather and so enjoyed the exquisite views and opportunities to spend time in each place without being rushed. If you’re an active walker/ hiker then you have plenty of chances to explore. Dino our guide was also very pleasant, helpful and fun.
What a fantastic tour this is a full day full of great experiences one after another, great variety within the tour wonderful memories. Dino the the tour guide was superb a wealth of information, never overloading though, allowing the tour to go at a good pace, no rushing from stop to stop, enabling you to stay until were ready to move on, always having handy hints to get the best out of the tour too. Dino was an excellent guide - friendly, knowledgeable and extremely accommodating. The trip felt very relaxed with no pressure on time. He happily answered all our questions and added humour along the way, which made the experience even better. Another highlight was a stop at one of the old Santana houses, where we were able to see what they looked like in the past.
Be sure to wear layers. It will be cold High up and warm at the coast in the sunshine. Spectacular scenery and out lovely guide was so helpful and informative. A super day!

Bought this trip for small group 8 max and there were 19 on the bus! Also, choose English tour to find it was in German as well. To cap it all - it did not follow the states itinerary.

Just did the trip today and can only say it was fantastic! Our driver/tour guide Dino was amazing, knowledgeable, courteous, punctual, fun and such a safe and caring driver. His wealth of historical, geographical and geological facts were so insightful and interesting. Never short of conversations and patience with two Irish chatters!! It was my husband and myself's first time on this wonderful island, and most definitely not our last. We stayed in the old part of town where vehicles are not allowed, but the company did a great job of managing the issue and arranging a convenient pick-up. The guide, Dino, was extremely knowledgeable and enthusiastic. His philosophy was that he wanted to do what ever was possible to address our needs and questions and to make sure that our enjoyment was his top priority. We had already been on a tour of the Western side of the island and we assumed that the tours would be fairly redundant. We were wrong. The two sides of the islands might as well be from different planets. Both were rugged, but very distinctive. It was a very enjoyable and informative day which we enjoyed very much.
We had a fabulous tour of the eastern part of Madeira, two adults and two kids, 10 and 8 years old. We had a minibus to ourselves and our guide and driver Dino did an outstanding job.

A fantastic day. Dino was such a great guide and was so informative about the island, it's flora and fauna. He took us to so many places of interest. We went inside an authentic Madeiran house and met the owner who gave us a liquor. We were above the clouds and down in valleys. We had lunch in a small restaurant that Dino had booked before heading to the rum factory. It was a small group, just four of us which made it even more special. If we go back to Madeira again I will be booking Dino for the West Tour. He is a fantastic guide and very witty, lots of laughs. Great memories. Thank you
The whole day was informative, entertaining and enjoyable. Dino, our driver/guide, was full of stories and information. He pointed out everything as we went along. He guided us to a superb little restaurant for lunch, guided us through the rum producer, kept us perfectly ahead of any other groups when he knew of popular places. 100% recommend him and this company for a small group trip around Madeira ( just 4 persons on a small mini bus for our trips.
Having visited the West side of the island with Dino a couple of days earlier, we were excited and looking forward to this trip. Neither tour guide or island let us down. The East side felt totally different than the previous tour. Lots of lush green valleys and countryside. The views were out of this world. Dino again took time to explain all about the areas we visited and added in lots of extra details. We learnt so much about the area and its landscape and culture. All stops described in itinerary were enjoyable and interesting. The lunchtime restaurant stop with food was fantastic, the food was amazing. We were not planning on eating full meals, but the menu and food on offer were stunning, so we couldn't resist. Great tour, not rushed or hassled, Dino looked after my elderly Mum and Mother in law really well during the trip. It was definitely a great experience, which has left us with some great memories. A wonderful experience of the East side of Madeira! East is a feast! Lush, pretty, especially if you can catch it on a great weather day. Definitely advise checking ahead with the weather to get the most from the tour. Dino was such a fabulous guide. Highly recommend.

Very informative guide Deano. Explained everything especially the local foods, wines, rum and interesting facts about the island. Took us to a lovely restaurant where we had a nice meal. I don't normally write reviews but my husband and I had such a wonderful time with Dino that I have to praise him and the company. We went on 2 trips with Dino (the East Island Tour and the West Island Tour). As soon as I made the bookings I received a confirmation and time for pick ups - so efficient. Dino gave us lots of information about the sights and just the right amount of time in each location to look at everything, not too long and not too short. He made excellent recommendations for restaurants for lunch. This company only offers small tours with 6-8 persons maximum so we travelled in comfort. The best thing is the price they charge: no more than tours that travel in a minibus! Madeira is a beautiful island and we will come back.

We have just completed a two day private tour with Dino, covering the East side one day and the West on the second day. Both fantastic days, Dino is a superb, guide with so much knowledge and information. He also has a great sense of humour which makes the day very enjoyable and entertaining. We feel we have been shown the true beauty of Madeira and we have fallen in love with this wonderful island and will definitely be back and will certainly do more tours with the wonderful Dino.

We had already been on the West tour of the island and were very pleased that we were going to have the same guide, Dino, as he was extremely good. He had warned us at the end of the West tour that for the east tour we would need a jacket as it gets cold on the higher viewpoints and that we needed better footwear than sandals as the terrain is rougher. We were grateful for this as both were definitely needed! The tour itself was very good.Amazing views from the highest viewpoints on the island. Loved visiting the traditional house in Santana and meeting the man who still lives there. Would thoroughly recommend!

Met our guide outside the cable car terminal. He introduced himself as Dean and told us we were the only two on the tour, what a great day we had the views were spectacular, went to the top of the highest mountain in Madeira and looked down through the clouds at the valleys below, We got there first before all the other travellers arrived Dean was so knowledgeable and informative making sure we understood everything he told us. The day just got better and better with Dean keeping us well entertained with stories and information, at the end of the day we went to a viewing point above the airport and watched a airplane coming in to land. Dean then dropped me off in Funchal and my wife off near where we were staying and told her he would pick us up on Wednesday from there
Great day trip to see the variations of land scape and culture. Well worth the day out the view from the mountains and coastal stops are breathtaking. Take the day out,well worth it.
