I’m so glad we chose this particular tour for Pico do Arieiro. From the day before, everything was incredibly well organized. They checked the conditions, confirmed exactly when and where to meet us, explained what to expect, and guided us through every detail. Hugo arrived right on time, and the vehicle was very comfortable and air-conditioned. One of the biggest advantages was their special access that allowed them to drive us much higher up than regular cars. We saw other visitors having to park below and make a long, difficult climb in the dark, while we were dropped off just a few minutes from the viewpoint. Our guide even walked us up with a flashlight, showed us exactly where to go and where to stand for the best experience. We felt completely taken care of from beginning to end. The sunrise itself was absolutely breathtaking! Our guide also shared lots of interesting and useful information throughout the trip. We stopped for coffee in a beautiful spot and visited Balcões, with its spectacular views and lovely levada walk. We came home happy and not exhausted at all. After reading about other people’s experiences, I’m even happier that we chose this company. Wonderful organization, wonderful guide, and an unforgettable morning in Madeira!

Hugo was fabulous. He is brilliantly organised, knows the best spots to stand for the sunrise, takes you to a great roadside cafe, beautiful rainforest walk and beach view.

This is an excellent, well thought through tour - Hugo is a safe, knowledgeable and fun guide whom I would gladly recommend. An early 5 am pickup from my hotel by Hugo, getting to the peaks while still early so you have time to settle in before the crowds arrive (Top Tip: take a jacket!) . After the beautiful sunrise, we took a scenic mountain drive to the North East for a short level hike to another ridge viewpoint, some coffee, and a skywalk over the ocean reefs near Santana before heading back to Funchal. Back to the hotel by 10 am

Amazing excursion to watch the sun rise, with lots of bonus stop offs. Hugo was amazing, knowledgeable and so helpful, he rearranged the trip to another day just to make sure we got the best weather and views possible. This was the highlight of our trip to Madeira.

Our sunrise experience was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience and one of the absolute highlights of our trip to Madeira. Watching the sun rise above the clouds was breathtaking and something we will never forget. A huge part of what made the experience so special was our tour guide, Hugo. He was incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and made the entire experience enjoyable from start to finish. He shared interesting information along the way, kept everyone engaged, and made us feel comfortable throughout the entire tour. In addition to the sunrise, we loved stopping at the other viewpoints throughout the tour. Each one offered incredible scenery and gave us the opportunity to experience different parts of Madeira that we may not have otherwise seen. Everything was very well organized, and Hugo’s positive attitude and enthusiasm made an already amazing experience even better. If you’re visiting Madeira, we cannot recommend this experience enough. Waking up early was 100% worth it, and it’s something everyone should experience at least once. It truly felt like a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and created memories that we will cherish forever. This was a great experience. Hugo our guide was very knowledgeable and accommodating. Small group tour (4) got to see some great trails and look out points on the island. Not rushed and easy pace. Definitely recommend. Check weather some clouds on top of the mountain and dress warm this cold up there.

Fantastic experience. Hugo keeps the groups small and has the local knowledge to beat the queues and recommend the best spot for great photos. We captured some amazing shots without the crowds. The Balcones lavada walk was a lovely contrast in the forest ending in another spectacular view. And the final stop of a clifftop viewpoint did not disappoint. I highly recommend this tour.

The view of the top was splendid but our hopes of viewing a spectular sunrise did not materialise as the weather didn't co-operate. It was windy with fast moving dark moist clouds allowing only brief glimpses of the colours of the dawn. We were fortunate to witness a couple being married when the clouds lifted a bit to allow views of the surrounding area. The remainder of the trip along the coast was through lovely scenery and bright sunshine which more that made up for the earlier disappointment. Our driver, Hugo, was excellent and his knowledge, commentary and concern for the group was excellent. The stops were perfectly planned to allow us glimpses of the natural beauty of Madeira and refresh ourselves to be ready for the next stop. We booked two further tours as we were so impressed by the experience.

Such an amazing experience! Hugo made it so easy and seamless! He picked us up from our hotel and took us to a great spot to start our hike. When we got back, he took us on another little tour around the island and provided amazing suggestions for things to do around Madeira! We really appreciated his tour because we had booked another, which cancelled on us because of “bad weather,” which we found out was really because he overbooked so Hugo is reliable, trustworthy and extremely communicative, which I appreciate!

An unforgettable experience! Watching the sunrise at Pico do Arieiro was absolutely magical, and our guide Hugo made it truly special. He’s a local with deep knowledge about Madeira’s nature, history, and culture, and he shared so many interesting facts and stories. After sunrise, he took us to two breathtaking viewpoints, making the morning feel like a complete adventure. Hugo was warm, friendly, and wonderful with my children, which made the tour even more enjoyable. This was without a doubt one of the highlights of our holiday – highly recommended!

Peaceful, interesting, and wonderful guide The sunrise .. the hike .. the sceneries were all amazing !

Apart from the very early start (5.15am), the tour/hike was very easy, not too steep! Itinerary as described, there is a coffee break after Balcoes de Ribeiro Frio. Don't forget to bring a warm jacket, it's very windy and cool up in the mountains!

The tour and the views are amazing! Just dress like it’s January in NY because it’s really cold and windy up there. Hugo was a great guide for us!

Absolutely amazing! We received confirmation the night before that it was going to be clear skies and it sure was. I was able to venture off to the stairs hike and it was spectacular. My mom stayed behind with the group and enjoyed every second of it. Because we were with this tour we were able to get all the way to the top without breaking a sweat

Hugo gave us an amazing tour! He was on top of the weather to make sure we had s good experience- he actually suggested we move the tour to the following morning to give us a better chance at seeing sunrise. The weather didn’t cooperate but we had an awesome morning anyway! He answered a of our questions about the island and gave us good tips for other activities to do. Overall, Hugo went above and beyond in every aspect- He even let us contact him to ask about weather conditions for the sunrise a few days later when we went again. He always drove safely and is very friendly. 10/10 so much better experience wise than the big companies on the island. Thank you Hugo :)

I had a great experience with Offroad-Seekers on my recent trip to Madeira. As a solo traveler, I joined a small, cozy group for a sunrise watching at Pico do Arieiro and a scenic driving tour, with stops for short hikes along the way. It was the perfect combination of adventure and relaxation. Our guide Hugo was outstanding. As a local, he had incredible knowledge of the island's history, development, and culture. He made sure to share insightful stories and was very responsive to all our questions. He was also punctual, and despite giving short notice, Hugo managed to fit me into the tour without any issues, which I really appreciated. The small group made the experience feel personal and friendly, and we all had a great time together. It was a wonderful way to see the island and learn more about how Madeira has evolved in recent decades. The stops for the hikes were well-chosen, and the views were breathtaking. Hugo called to cancel the Dawn trip because the webcam showed the peak in clouds with nothing to see. However with limited time on the island I asked if we could proceed and do something else at lower elevation. We did an amazing morning seeing the sights at lower elevation. It wasn’t his normal tour but absolutely wonderful. His special attention and flexibility was exceptional.

I had an absolutely wonderful morning with Hugo, seeing a wide range of beautiful spots in a short amount of time. He was punctual, patient and very welcoming! Hugo is a local and without ideal conditions can easily adjust to ensure you make the most of the experience. The drive itself to Pico Areerio and down is tailored to take you through different areas of Maderia and as we journeyed Hugo shared stories of the islands' history and development revelant to where we currently were. This was the highlight of my trip! I highly recommend!

What a wonderful trip - Hugo was so kind and informative. His communication beforehand was incredible, including updating us the night before, and again at 5.20 am (an hour before pickup). If it had been cloudy at the summit, we could have cancelled then and got our money back! As it was, the summit was above the clouds and the sunrise was lovely. To cap it all, I left a couple of things in his van, emailed him 10 minutes after he dropped us off, and he came into the centre of town to give them to me - what a hero! Thank you Hugo. I'll recommend you to any friends coming here.

the whole tour was perfectly executed. Hugo communicated very well prior to the day letting me know what to expect in terms of weather forecast, pick up time etc. Punctual pick-up, was very informative on the drive to the tour, letting us know all about Madeira and some interesting facts- he was such a lovely guide and I feel like he really cared about his clients. He did not rush - he made sure we were satisfied before moving to the next location! Honestly if you’re considering who to go with go with Hugo! If I could put more than 5 stars I would have done it. Hugo is literally the most patient and thoughtful guide ever, he doesn't hesitate to share his knowledge and does his best to make his travelers feel confortable. Highly recommend !

Sunrise in Areeiro was the perfect trip and Hugo was the perfect guide. Communication via email worked very well and pick-up/drop-off was organised to suit us. The trip was amazing and as described in the itinerary. Hugo’s personal touch ensured we had a very relaxing experience without being rushed in any way. I would definitely recommend Hugo and for future trips he will be our first choice.

Hugo was an exceptional host for this breathtaking experience of a lifetime. He was very prompt with communication, answering any questions I had before the day of the event. The night before he followed up to provide a status update on weather conditions and that he would confirm that things were good to go for the next morning. He communicated right on time as he said he would and picked us up close to our hotel. He was very warm and friendly and provided lots of great information and stories. He’s very knowledgeable about the island and for anyone visiting Madeira for the first time I would highly recommended him to be your tour guide! 10/10!

This morning we did the sunrise tour with Hugo and we are overwhelmed at how amazing this tour was, Hugo picked us up at 0630 and we headed up to Pico Do Areeiro, when we arrived at the top, he showed us all the great spots to watch the sunrise and then he waited in his jeep so we could watch the sunrise on our own. Words or pictures can not explain how incredible the sunrise looks from the mountains and we are so glad we witnessed it in person! After the sunrise we got back into the jeep and headed down to our next point which was a Levada walk with a viewpoint at the end, this view was breathtaking and just as beautiful as the sunrise itself! We are so grateful that Hugo shared this walk with us. When finished at the viewpoint we had a quick coffee (courtesy of Hugo) at a lovely café in the mountains. Onto our final viewpoint and this place was so peaceful and really showcased how beautiful Madeira is. I wholeheartedly recommend Hugo’s sunrise tour, he is a fantastic and very kind guide (and person) his knowledge and facts about his home island really added to our experience. Thank you again, Hugo!

From the moment Hugo picked myself and my wife up at 6am, we experienced one of the best days we have had on holiday Hugo made sure our journey was extremely enjoyable. He was most knowledgeable and was more than able to answer all our many questions and made us feel very welcome The sunrise Itself was magnificent. Nothing we have ever experienced before. Hugo had us there before the crowds and we were able to get a fantastic spot. We then had a Levada walk where it seemed we were the only people in the woods. The rustle of the birds was the only sound apart from ourselves. Cup of well needed coffee followed by a trip to the glass platforms over the ocean. A fantastic trip greatly enhanced by our host Hugo

Had the most amazing morning watching the sky change colors and the sun rise above the clouds. It really is a magical, and I highly recommend the early rise to get to experience it. The levada walk through the forest, coffee stop, and stunning viewpoint were the icing on the cake!

A real highlight of our trip. Our guide (Hugo) was so helpful as soon as we booked, and provided updates to weather and even potential road closures due to the annual rally event. So worth getting up early to see the amazing sunrise, and loved the lavada walk and other beautiful stops. Worth every penny and a memory that will last a lifetime

We felt very safe with Hugo. He was very respectful, polite and caring. He gave us blankets when we went to see the sunrise as it was pretty chilly and we were cold. We never felt rushed. He was very informative and explained a lot about the history of places and answered all of our questions. This is the best deal I found as we managed to see three different places. It is absolutely worth the money. I definitely recommend this!! The views were magical.

Hugo was delightful and collected us at our hotel spot on time. After collecting another client we started the climb to Pico Ariero, and enjoyed a personalised tour for 3 of us which was wonderful. Hugo’s knowledge and passion for Madeira was evident in his excellent and interesting explanations. Our other 2 destinations were also beautiful and well worth the visit. Avoid the big tour groups, Hugo will give you a visit you’ll remember. Full marks !!

We had a wonderful tour with Hugo. There are several options for sunrise tours, but I would book with Hugo again. He is very knowledgeable and easy going. He contacted us the day before to update us on the weather and arrange an early morning pick up from the hotel. On the drive, he pointed out and described points of interest. At the top of Pico de Arieiro, he walked us down a short path and suggested several places for us to watch the sunrise. We then watched the sunset solo. What a beautiful moment! The weather was a little misty and moody, but it made the pictures more interesting! Afterwards we took a short drive through a beautiful forest and stopped for coffee and another short hike to a view point. The last stop of the day was one of my favorite spots on the island and not to be missed Miraduoro do Guindaste! Thank you Hugo, one of my favorite parts of the trip!

Ofcourse Hugo doesn't create this magnificent sunrise himself, so those credits go to Mother Nature. But: Hugo monitors the weather himself, upto 1 hour before you leave to make sure you have the most magnificent view that won’t disappoint you, the activity doesn't get canceled if you're the only passenger, Hugo is very patient so you are not tied to a schedule and you can take as much pictures as you want or just enjoy the views, you will drive through different kinds of nature which are all breathtaking, you can make a nice little walk along one of the famous levada's where you will also meet the most friendly birds and finally there is a stop at a magnificent viewpoint with a high instagram degree. On top of that, Hugo knows a lot (maybe everything?) about this beautiful island so you get tons of interesting information, but not in a boring way like a guide who repeats the same text every day again, and you can ask him whatever you need (to know). Definitely the best 5 hours I spent here! Thanks again Hugo!

We were so thrilled to have experienced a majestic Sunrise. Our tour guide, Hugo Melim, was friendly, knowledgeable, and an engaging person. He provided us the pick-up information, the day before. The pick-up was right on time. We felt safe with his careful driving on winding roads during early morning hours. During the entire trip he provided us useful information. We felt like we were riding with a friend. Hugo made the tour memorable. We highly recommend the tour with him.
