A great drive to get there and really good views. Lovely café in town. Really friendly owner. Easy to park.

Beautiful walk with nice guide. We greatly enjoyed it :)
Lovely walk, very easy although lots of stones to trip up on. Mostly through mimosa and eucalyptus forest with incredible views. Cool as a different microclimate to funchal. Joao our guide was lovely. Stopped for coffee near end but then also stopped at a bakery on the way home.
Beautiful peaceful easy walk with small group and knowledgeable friendly guide. Perfect ending of coffee and cake
Very easy going introduction to the levadas of Madeira. Went with Madeira free spirit walking tours - Very good guide Alviro- great command of english and highly amusing. Safety very important- great for flora and fauna and a general understanding of the area- nice views
Great hike! small group ! Easy to walk! Beutiful scenery. Knowlegable and helpful guide Sara. We hit to know plants and birds in the arta) Even a cat. Highly recommended!
Very pleasant walk. Beautiful countryside. About three miles, mostly level. A very knowledgeable and interesting tour guide.
Fantastic half day levada walk with a brilliant guide, she was knowledgable about the history of Madeira with many stops to explain this or that. Fantastic views.
Great walking tour, despite the shower rain. Thanks to Ruby we had a great walk. Lido Tours offers a great way to explore the island when you are cruising. They pick you up at the harbour. Communication was excellent. Driver is a save driver. Pricing is reasonable. Thank you again Ruby, see you maybe in december!
Although the information on my ticket said it was a hotel pick-up, I was sent a link to Google maps. It was very confusing as the app couldn't find the place and it was difficult to know what I was looking for. Maybe give people a landmark instead? Walk was lovely but with a bilingual group, it takes longer for explanations at each stop. This walk could easily be done as self guided as it would be difficult to get lost.
Very nice easy walk. I went with a bilingual group so we stopped quite a bit for points of interest. Next time I would do it alone. It is an easy path to follow, you don't need a guide. I wanted to walk and not have a guided tour. If that is the case, do drop off and pickup or use local buses
Very pleasant and informative 5km walk with some fantastic views. Essentially all on the flat. A few short sections where path narrows to a few feet where drops to side of several feet so good balance/proprioceptive skills needed. Tour guide and driver welcoming, friendly helpful. Good value for money. Overall tour took ~ 4 hrs from pick up to drop off. Actual walking took 2 hrs. Stopped for toilets/coffee for 20 minutes at a village on minibus journey back to Funchal. Highly recommended.
Very professional throughout. Really well paced and informative tour. Excellent knowledge about Madeira's flora and fauna. Beautiful walk and great levada walk.
My daughter (aged 10) and I loved this walk. It was a chance to see the island in a different way and have a bit of peace from the busy hotel and city. We learnt so much from Louisa, our guide, who talked us through the plants and history of the island. The walk was just the right length for us and the cafe afterwards was lovely. The communication from the company beforehand was great. A wonderful experience and one of the highlights of our holiday, thank you.
Excellent communication from booking to drop off! Very knowledgable and pleasant guide, lovely walk with spectacular views and experiences.
Steady walk with some great views, 5k, no trouble at all. Make sure you keep your eyes on the path, some very steep, fantastic drops on your right as you start. Drive up there was very scenic, again, drops to the side. Guide was very nice and informative. 👍🏻👏🏻
It was a very nice and very easy walk. We saw nice mountains, villages and levadas. We had a very good guide.
I found this company really easy to deal with. They were able to steer us to an easy Levada walk to begin our experience in the Madeira mountains; and, they were able to accommodate a last minute necessary re-schedule of same. We had a lovely half day trek through amazing landscape in the company of our lovely mountain guide, Rubi, who gave us lots of info as we went along. Amazed at the ingenuity of farming in the uplands, we even met some very generous local ladies on their lunchbreak, who treated us to some of their freshly picked plums. On the way back to base we enjoyed a very pleasant stop off at a bakery/cafe for a bonus cuppa with freshly baked pastries. If I can do it, you can too. Well worth the price.
Loved the levada. However, the walk was cut short by a road race and the alternate route was more challenging than we expected. The guide was entertaining but not all that attentive to the clients.
We booked to go on the Serra D’Agua walk in December but had to cancel due to illness. The company was very accommodating and transferred our booking to April. We met at the office and driven by Marco to the start of the walk. Our guide, Benny, was excellent. Walked at a steady pace. Stopped to explain flora and fauna, stunning views of the island and an area we haven’t visited before. We stopped for coffee and pastries at the end of the walk at a beautiful bakery … and no souvenirs! Benny was chatty and friendly throughout. A really enjoyable morning.
A wonderful trip lead by a lovely guide, Elaina. The trip is well organised by Lido tours who send you good communication / emails. Everything went to plan and kept to the specified timings. They provide good transport and the journey is about 30 mins into the mountains ….you get to see a bit of the area in the bus there and back. The walk was beautiful, forest, open sea views and mountains and valleys. It is an easy flat walk at a relaxed pace stopping to look at the trees and plants on route, with Elaina explaining much about the Levada , plants , trees, local area and history . So it was very educational . Just loved it ! We stopped for coffee and a cake at a local bakery , delicious Maderian custard tart and also the local shop to buy Madeira cake and sweets. We thoroughly enjoyed our trip and highly recommend Lido Tours.
a very easy, level walk. Nice guide who was very informative but ultimately it was a bit expensive for a quite short and not very interesting walk.
Maybe this is really the most beautiful 5 Km of levada altogether, but definitely not in September. We did this walk after couple of other levada walks and during the first couple of Km we were totally disappointed - sparse vegetation, dried out and mostly abandoned small gardens on hillsides, abandoned houses, corpses of dead rats floating in levada... Only the second part of levada was really nice.
Booked through Viator and operated by Lido Tours. I deliberately chose an "easy" walk , and indeed it was. The total time taken is about four hours, of which the actual levada walk itself is only two hours. The rest of the time goes between driving to the starting point and coming back to your hotel from the end point where the van which drops you goes and waits. There is also a restaurant cum loo stop on the way which takes about 20 to 25 minutes. The van was half an hour late at my hotel, no explanation or apology offered. There were already about 12 people in the van and three of us joined at my hotel. The drive to the start point of the walk took about twenty or twenty five minutes. The young woman guide led the way along the trail which runs right alongside the narrow levada or irrigation channel, ( with continuously flowing water ) and the walking path itself is very narrow in places, about a foot and a half, and you need to be particularly careful that you do not topple off the edge, though the drop on this walk is not more than six feet at any time. Still, you could get injured. In a few places it was also muddy and slippery. The views of the surrounding valley is spectacular The walk took place at a gentle pace, and the guide was able to point out to us some of the flora, mainly bamboo, african lily, deadly nighshade, hydrangea, eucalyptus, passion fruit, potato , dizzy lizzy, mimosa, a few apple trees ( not edible, can be used only for cider ), banana plantations, rural housing, a couple of cows and dogs. The only mammalian wild life is apparently rabbits, but none spotted, and surprisingly no birds were spotted at all ! The sound of a church bell pealing over the otherwise silent valley was beautiful at a point during the walk. The cafe had clean toilets.
I did the levada walk with Lido Tours, It was fantastic. Everything Lido does is so well-organized. All of the guides are good.

The guide was very thorough and the driver was very good. I'd recommend this trip to others. bit advise them to wear hiking shoes.

It was a wonderful experience! You walk a lot in a dark forest valley with some beautiful views of the sea. Hubena is a very good and prudent guide. Thank you so much!
Beautiful easy tour with competent and friendly guide who could answer any question. Thank you and gladly again, Sigrid
Got this tour company recommended by the "free walking tour" guide and I was not disappointed. Easy to book online. Quick feedback and a sense of "orderliness". Good buses, clean, good condition and good drivers. On the excursion to the east of the island driver / guide Roberto, who in mine thought did a perfect job. Easy to understand his English, spoke moderately, drove calmly and pleasantly, high stress threshold, some clever humor. At levadatur also nice guide and blameless execution of the tour. Highly recommend this company for Madeira excursions.
A ne pas manquer un guide au top des vues somptueuses. En sécurité . Expérience très positive. Réservation facile pas de surprises.
Eindrucksvolle Landschaft und gute Einblicke in des Levada-System. Miguel war ein ausgezeichner Guide.
Beautiful and easy levada walk. Narrow in some places, but smooth and easy to walk. Knowledgeable and fun guide and helpful driver.
Nice 5 km excursion, easy, which offers beautiful views and gives to see a wide variety of different plants. Charlotte, our guide, was very friendly, moreover, she knows the flora and history of Madeire very well and is happy to explain all this to hikers, in three different languages for our group!
Very good walk, very easy, than flat along a Levada. Very friendly guide. Small group so everyone can hear what the guide says, since we walk one behind the other. Good point of view. And on the way back we stop at a bar for a drink and toilet break. Not disappointed.
We really liked the walk in the small group, our guide and the driver were very nice, it was an interesting experience to walk along the Levadas once. Along the way we saw beautiful plants, people working in the terraces and a local woman who gave us fruit to taste. The organization also worked well, as we were called the night before in the hotel room and informed exactly what time we should be down the next day. Overall a recommended experience!
The small group hike along the Levada with a friendly and competent guide was a memorable experience. The visit of a local family brought us insights into the life of the rural population. The conversations with our fellow migrants about nature will always be remembered. This hike under the care of Lido Tours can only be recommended.
We had a super Levada tour guided by an equally super girl. She told me a lot in a very simple and good way. Everything was perfect. Was picked up at the hotel at the agreed time.
Easy hike with a group of about 15 people - so far ok, the hiking route is also quite nice - but there are certainly even nicer ones. A disaster, however, was our guide as well as the whole organization of this tour - the pure mass handling of tourists. It started with us being told a different time than the rest of the group. As a result, the group had to wait 5 minutes for us when we were picked up from the hotel - that's not eternity now! But caused great resentment especially among our guide! All other guests were welcomed with: "Sorry about the delay! Normally we are on time, but unfortunately that was not possible today." The third time, I would have loved to slap the email with the time on his ears! At the start of the hike I realized why our guide was so displeased. Shortly after we got off, another minibus from the same provider stopped next to ours. The next group had already arrived and now the guides had to agree so that both groups did not disturb each other! Our guide then also set an insane walking pace during the first few hundred meters of the hike. Stop and enjoy the view or even take a photo - not possible! This was only possible if he also stopped to whittle down his text. You could clearly see that he often tells this text in the same way. Questions were answered reluctantly and concisely, but seemed undesirable. If someone stopped to take some pictures and it took some time at the next "info point" for everyone to get back, the guide was always very upset about it. The whole tour ended with a visit to a café in a mountain village with which Lido apparently has a contract. A minibus from the provider was already at the doorstep. We were sent to the café with the words: "Here you can have a coffee. But it is best to go to the toilet first, the next group is coming soon! We'll stay 30 minutes, please come back to the bus on time." - After all, nobody chose this event for fun! I would definitely not book here again - on the one hand because of the unfriendly guide, and on the other hand because of the tight organization and the mass handling of tourists. Have I experienced much more beautiful and individual elsewhere, so you spend a nice day and really learn about the country and people!
We booked this tour online from home. Had very fast and good communication, no problems whatsoever. We were picked up outside the C Ronaldo museum, just 10 min walk from the boat we went on.The guide whose name I unfortunately do not remember was a younger girl with dark hair. She was extraordinarily well-read and had answers to all the questions. Hiking was at high altitude and nothing for those who have poor balance or suffer from vertigo. Great view and lovely hiking weather we had. The driver drove us safe. Recommend!
