Private Tour: Regional Road Drive With Stunning Views And Poncha Drink Tasting

A fantastic tour booked through Carochentos. Great communication with Rodolfo prior to booking discussing various options . The tour was tailor made to our requirements. Met at the ship by Miguel in his gorgeous convertible beetle. He was a very safe & considerate driver who gave us information along the way and answered all our questions. A real pleasure to be in his company and in his car. Can’t recommend highly enough.

We were picked up from our hotel in Canico by Miguel in his beautifully restored Volkswagen Beetle convertible. Miguel is a lovely guy with so much knowledge of his stunning island.( He also has an amazing knowledge of Volkswagens!) The tour took us through the back streets of Funchal where Miguel explained the history of the place and its architecture. We saw so much of this beautiful island that it’s difficult to put it into words.From incredible mountains to waterfalls and the glass platform that you can walk on! All we can say is do it. It’s also worth doing for all the people waving at you, and of course the Poncha! Thanks Miguel.

We thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon tour. Our driver/guide (Miguel) was excellent - a very safe driver, he shared interesting information without any “lecturing” and was very happy to chat and answer questions. The balance between the amount of time spent driving and walking was perfect. An open-topped VW Beetle is perfect for seeing the sights. Very highly recommended.

Fantastic tour from our hotel in a Convertible Beetle with Miguel. A very friendly, relaxed and informative trip taking in a fishing village, cliff platform, plenty of stops for views and a few bars.

Lovely half day drive with a friendly, knowledgeable driver. My husband has some mobility problems but this trip was ideal and the driver (I can’t remember his name) was very patient.

We truly enjoyed this tour and highly recommend it! The only changes / improvements that we suggest are: 1. Find out the name of the ship, where they are docking and pick up Passengers as close as possible to the Pier. 2. Only stop for 1 Poncha Tasting (instead of 2) 3. Add enough time for a quick stop for Portuguese Tapas or a light Portuguese Lunch. 4. Add a quick stop to the Cristiano Ronaldo Museum (famous Professional Soccer Player born in Madeira).

I was collected from my hotel in Funchal on time by my companion for the afternoon, Rudolph, who runs this company. He has 2 classic VW cars and we went off in his immaculate 1970’s Beetle convertible. We were very fortunate as it was a beautiful afternoon and we were able to have the roof down for the whole time. Rudolpho is clearly a huge enthusiast and lovingly maintains the cars as well as being an interesting guide and good companion. He took me to various interesting places and viewpoints along the south coast as well as a couple of local bars to sample the local brews!! I am a keen photographer so found lots of good subject matter. Rudolpho also made it clear that if you required something more bespoke he would be more than happy to work with you t On an itinerary of your own choosing. A thoroughly nice afternoon with a very nice person! Would recommend!

It was like driving with a family member in a vintage beetle. Beautifull sights. Good poncha en great places. The fishing village was so beautifull. Miguel was a hearty guy, patient and so informative.

Rodolfo was an excellent tour guide for what turned out to be a custom trip around Funchal and the small fishing village. Convertible VW beetle was the carriage that I was picked up in and I was tired and jet lagged, we changed the tour a bit to suit my needs which was great. Was lovely to go to a local place and see the fishing village. Would highly recommend and would do again.

Picked up on time from our hotel in a convertible VW Beetle. Rodolfo our driver and owner of the company was friendly and extremely informative right from the start of the trip. Our first stop allowed us to walk through a little village and see the doors covered in artwork made from aluminium cans, as opposed to the painted doors. We had our first taste of Poncha made in a little fisherman’s bar. From there we had a drive to the highest point and the glass viewing platform. We stopped at other points of interest on the way through. On the way back down we had another Poncha stop and I had an amazing drink made from pineapple ice cream and passion fruit syrup. Apart from the great service, having the tour to ourselves meant we did not have to wait around for anyone and were never rushed or squashed in with other people. We were dropped back at the hotel. If you want to try something different from the normal tours, definitely take this one . Thank you Rodolfo.
