This was a fantastic tour!! We were met right by our cruise ship, and we saw all of the best parts of the island! It was spectacular. But what made it even better was our guide, Fabio. We couldn’t have asked for a nicer, more informative, and thorough guide. I recommend this private tour 100%!!!

This was an absolutely wonderful excursion and a perfect way to see the best of Madeira. Starting with the ease of booking, able to customize to our needs, and how very responsive the operator was to all emails. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable about everything from all the vegetation to the sights and history.

Fabio was an excellent guide. Very informative and happy to show and discuss the true Madeira. Beautiful sights up the Western interior, down to Porto Muniz and back to Funchal.

Wonderful experience. Our driver was so amazing with great personality and knowledgeable. The vehicle was older but he got us around very safely with his skilled driving.

A friend recommended this tour directly and we were not disappointed. The guide (Fabio?) was awesome. Told us so much about the island and its history, and we were able to get far away from the cruise port and see parts of the island that we otherwise would have missed. And it’s a beautiful island very much worth seeing. Would definitely come back to Mederia and use these guys again for other tours.

Fabio was great and made the whole day amazing! He was very friendly and our kids loved him. We went to so many amazing places and Fabio gave us great info throughout the tour. And was very flexible working with our kids and our whole family. I couldn’t give more praise for Fabio and our tour.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ An Unforgettable Private Off-Road Jeep Safari in Madeira! What an incredible experience! Our private off-road jeep safari was definitely one of the highlights of our time in Madeira. Our guide and driver, Miguel, was absolutely fantastic. He was friendly, funny and incredibly knowledgeable about the island. Throughout the tour, he shared so many interesting stories and facts about Madeira, its nature, history and local life – always with a great sense of humour. We drove high up into the mountains and explored Madeira’s fascinating ancient forests. Miguel showed us wild herbs, eucalyptus and the beautiful laurel trees, and explained so much about the unique vegetation of the island. One of the most magical moments was when we drove so high onto the mountains that we were literally above the clouds. The views were breathtaking and something we will never forget. The combination of off-road adventure, spectacular scenery, nature and Miguel’s wonderful personality made this tour truly special. An amazing experience from beginning to end. Fantastic day exploring the island! Tiago was amazing and we learned a lot. Highly recommend this tour and Tiago as your guide. We swam and did off-roading and visited towns and shopped and ate.

Great way to see highlights of the island and the many, beautiful and varied landscapes. The off-roading was just the right amount of adventure!

Booking this driving service was well worth the experience. Our driver knew so much about the country and showed us all the main spots, but also introduced us to some hidden gems. The tour was flexible based on our needs, but it allowed us to see all the main spots without having to worry about logistics.

We had an incredible journey around the island with Big John. He brought us to so many beautiful places with amazing diversity of scenery. Big John is a passionate native of the island and was able to enlighten us on the island history and what it is like to live on Madeira. We stopped at a great coffee cafe spot on the beach and he got us the best table in a restaurant for lunch overlooking the Porto Moniz natural swimming pools and guided us to the best native dishes on the menu. We highly recommend this tour it was really awesome.

Miguel was amazing! He was able to share so much history and fun facts about the island in a wonderful day trip! We feel like we were able to see so much in our very short trip to the island and he made it well worth it! We hope to return in the future and do another tour with him!

Our driver/guide Joāo / John was a lively, cheerful, knowledgeable and enthusiastic companion. He tweaked his planned itinerary to meet some of our special interests and included important not-to-be-missed sights as well as less well-known places. It is an off-road 4-wheel drive experience so some of the sections were very bumpy and rough - but worth every moment. Note: even though we were in Madeira before the high tourist season, there were a LOT of visitors at some of the main highlights. These places are spectacular and absolutely worth visiting. What makes this trip special, though is that Joāo adds his choice of lesser-known but wonderful places to the tour.

What a wonderful day! Joao was a first-rate guide. He ensured we had a delightful tour of the most beautiful locations on the East side of Madeira. We very much enjoyed each and every aspect of the trip. He was prompt, helpful, and always very polite. We had an awesome day with João/John. Great personality with lovely stories about the island. We did the west side of the island and asked for mountains, nature and waterfalls. João delivered with an epic off road ride through the old mountain roads with amazing views. We managed to escape most of the mass tourism. The lunch recommendation was amazing with the best scabbard fish and espetada meat we have eaten our full time in Madeira. It is a long day for your driver as well so ensure enough breaks for them to rest as well. We fully recommend this tour! Thank you João!

This was a great day. John picked us up at our condo rental and spent the first 15 to 30 minutes discussing what we had done on Madeira to that point and what we wanted to still see. It was totally customizable. He was very patient at all of our stops and seemed to know every other tour guide that we came across through the day. He was very personable and spoke great english.

This island under the tour guidance of Jon came alive and opened our eyes to this island beauty! Jon was the best: knowledgeable, great driver, entertaining, and committed to showing us every spot on this gorgeous island that just kept us in awe! It was worth every euro and then some! We plan to return and plan to contact Jon and his company again!

We lovef our day with John/ João . He answered questions before we asked them. We were very much interested in history and why things were the way they are now. He had all the answers. He took us to beautiful out of the way spots, avoided crowds, hooked us up with an excellent lunch with a view. We could not have asked for a better day.. Thank you again John.

Highly recommend. John was our guide and took us around the west and north island, showing us the incredible beauty of his home island. Along the way, he provided excellent commentary, making every part of our journey not only an adventure but a great learning experience.

Our tour guide was João (John) and he was perfect. So full of life and good cheer. He asked if there was anything we wanted to do at the start and then took us round the north and west up some 45% incline roads and the old back roads which was great fun. Well paced trip around the south west and north of the island with an enthusiastic guide. John is passionate about his country and a fun guide with a mischievous sense of humour. He maintained great energy, and was lively, engaging and fun the whole day. We learnt about the island, had fun off roading in the forest and visited interesting places and had a super lunch. I think the guide makes or breaks these trips, and top marks to John, who certainly made our day great fun.

This tour was absolutely fantastic. We were in Madeira for a one day port stop. We had wanted to do a 4WD tour and booked this tour through Viator. The reviews were great but even those didn’t prepare us for the magic of this island. My wife and I had a private tour. Our guide Miguel owns a small fleet of 4WD vehicles and we were lucky enough to have him as our guide. His knowledge and love of this little island were contagious. It’s obvious that he loves what he is doing. We toured the islands west and north shores. We drove off the beaten path several times but never felt unsafe with Miguel at the wheel. He took us to hills above the clouds and then had lunch in the village of Porto Moniz. After lunch we drove along the north shore with cliffs and waterfalls that reminded me of Kauai. I can’t say enough about how much we enjoyed this tour. I would give it six stars if I could.

This Jeep tour was absolutely incredible — a must for anyone visiting Madeira! Our guide, John, was outstanding. Having grown up on the island, his deep knowledge and love for Madeira really showed throughout the day. He gave us a unique, personal experience that went far beyond the typical tourist routes. Even at the popular spots like Fanal Forest, he took us to hidden local viewpoints that were far less crowded and offered even better views. If you’re looking for an unforgettable way to explore the island and learn about its history, nature, and culture, this is the tour to book. Highly, highly recommend!

Amazing experience - definitely a highlight of our trip! Our driver, Miguel, was fantastic. We weren’t sure exactly what we wanted to do, so we just told him where we’d been so far, and he took it from there, putting together a great itinerary highlighting the most scenic spots on the west and north side of the island while taking us down some back/off-road parts as well. Only regret is not booking a two day version as there’s so much to see! Would definitely recommend!

John was our tour guide. We went around the western part of the island including Porto Moniz and Seixal. What an incredible day - one of the best of our lives. Madeira is incredible and is the most beautiful place I've ever been and I never want to go anywhere else on holiday. John was incredible, warm and knowledgeable and I recommended this tour to anyone, especially young families. OBRIGADO!

John was such good fun! His 10 year knowledge of the job and passion for the island was second to known. I was a little nervous of the off road part but he was supportive and kind. It was amazing and I am so glad we experienced this unique experience. The weather at the top of the mountain was not great with visibility poor but this was just bad luck and didn’t impact the brilliant time we had. He recommended a nice spot for lunch and this did not disappoint as he arranged a table with the best view. We were sad not to have time to do another tour on our visit but will back another time for sure!

Incredible experience. This was our favorite tour ever. John was fantastic and we felt very safe at all times. The tour had a good balance of main roads, off roads, beautiful viewpoints and great information. To top it all, since it was my birthday, Jonh made a reservation for us for lunch at a delicious restaurant with a beautiful views. Food and service e were excellent. We highly recommend this tour. You will not regret it.

Everything on this tour was easy and fun with an informative and friendly guide. One of the benefits was the open top Jeep allowing the kids to fully enjoy the experience when off road

An exceptional experience. I highly recommend doing this tour. Especially privately. We had the 4 x 4 to ourselves. John was our guide. He is very passionate about the island. He looked after us very well. He took us to two fabulous food locations. We started the tour at 9am and finished around 4.30ish pm. We saw so much!

Second time with this company. Fabulous tour, enteraining guide, big John was on form as ever. We got to choose where abouts on the island we went and John oick the best bit for us to see and do. We really enjoyed the day.

This is a super fun day of adventure. We covered the entire part of the island that we had not seen when we planned it with John. The sights you see are amazing, and our tour guide John has the best insight for stops and pushing you out of your comfort zone to stand in the car on old roads. Got amazing pictures and had a blast. Would recommend for families with children on the older side!! Anyway we absolutely loved it and Madeira is a magical island.
