Get ready to be amazed by panoramic views and explore the heart of nature, while learning all about Madeira's traditions and history. You will have the opportunity of riding in a very relaxed safari-style tour, going to places that you just have to see! We`ll take you off the beaten track, whenever possible, through old roads & off-road, in really remote places, hidden valleys and villages lost in the mountains, therefore it takes some time to get to each point of interest. Along our route we will stop at all the good photo opportunities, on an exciting open jeep ride, enjoying various experiences, awakening all your senses. At the end of the tour you will want to return and stay longer on my paradise :)
You will have the opportunity of riding in a very relaxed safari tour, whenever possible, through old roads & off-road, all done in a very calm, safe and relaxed way, always far from the beaten track. The morning is usually spent exploring the southwestern coastline around the areas of Ribeira Brava and the picturesque village of Ponta do Sol. We are going to travel through the old roads, close to the amazing southwestern cliffs until we start climbing from sea level to about 1500m on Paul da Serra Stopping in all the good photo opportunities, always in relaxed atmosphere, far from the beaten track.
Along the way you will enjoy spectacular views from an open-top army jeep, always far away from the crowds and tasteless impersonal tours. You will be able to contemplate Ribeira Brava from a different perspective, always far from the beaten track. We will pass through the village stopping several times for photos and explanations

We will keep stopping in all the good photo opportunities, in a thrilling open top jeep ride, standing up when possible, learning about our island fauna, flora and social life! We will make a stop for coffee in a local bar After coffee, we start “climbing” almost from sea level to 1500m altitude, up the old roads and off-road, all done in a very calm, safe and relaxed way, to one of the west tour’s main attraction, the plateau, Paul Da Serra, where we can see the wildlife co-habiting with cattle grazing quietly

We will have to cross the only plateau in Madeira, called “Madeiran tundra” direction Porto Moniz and If the weather is good we will spend a fair amount of time up here taking in the unbelievable views from above the volcanic valleys, formed during the 3rd phase of eruptions that created Madeira island. We will take about 45 minutes to cross the plateau. We will make several stops for photos

Of all the activities we did while visiting MADIERA, this was hands down the most fun. Miguel knows all the details and smaller roads and we had a blast! We had an amazing time on Miguel's North West UMM jeep tour, it really was a highlight of our holiday! The day was full of so many beautiful views by a highlight was definitely the levada walk above the clouds. Can't believe we managed to fit so much in a day and it didn't feel rushed at all. So much more relaxing than trying to do similar in a hire car! Miguel was great company, and we really enjoyed our day with him. If we come back to Madeira we'll definitely book another trip.
This tour was so amazing. Miguel is a brilliant tour guide. He took us to so many cool out of the way spots for amazing photo opportunities and much less crowded than a lot of other tour operators. His knowledge of the island and all the secret areas made the tour so much more authentic, which is what we were looking for. We got to sample some poncha in a local bar, had a coffee up in the mountains, sampled some bananas from local farmers along the way. We stopped in Porto Moniz for a swim in the natural pools, saw the gorgeous Fanal Forest, did a levada walk high in the mountains and saw some amazing waterfalls.We loved every minute. Miguel also gave us some great suggestions for other parts of the island to see and great places to eat. Miguel's tour was the highlight of our trip. We would highly recommend. What an unforgettable day! We did the North West full day tour with Miguel and it was honestly one of the best parts of our holiday. The views were absolutely stunning everywhere you looked. Miguel’s love for Madeira and all its hidden gems really made the day. It was so much fun going on the off-road tracks in the jeep, and the levada walk and waterfalls were just magical. Its hard to know where to start with a review for the whole day without missing something so.... overall - a really great day - from first communication right through to being dropped off at the end - no issues at all. Miguel changed the day to suit the weather and that was great - no rain and great views - lots of them. As others have said - its off the well used tourist route - and off road at times!!! Lots of stops to explain points of interest. The pre arranged lunch stop was an excellent choice and well worth doing. The morning coffee stop and afternoon Poncha stop equally great. It is clear to see that Miguel wants you to have the best day out and he did not disappoint - all of us felt we had seen parts of Madeira that we would have missed on a hotel tour or even a hire car - some of the roads are narrow and we live in N Devon! We are looking to book another tour when we return later this year. I like a bargain - was this a bargain? Yes 100%. IF you want to see a bit of Madeira that most people don't then give Miguel a call.

We have done previous trips with him in other years but brought new family members this time. He answered all their questions included a Lavada walk. If you want to see Madeira but don't want to hire a car, then I would highly recommend Miguel's Jeep Tour. He can take up to 6 people in his jeep - we are a family of six so had the luxury of a private tour. Both my sons are in their 20's and they absolutely loved it. The off-road driving is such fun - you can stand up when not on the public roads, hold tight and enjoy the truly stunning mountain views. We were blessed with sunny weather and warm breeze. We had one of the full day tours, being picked up from our hotel at 9am. Included in our action packed day was: Information about the area, plants, history etc; Coffee stop; off-road driving (eek!), a 30 minute levada walk experience, lunch stop, swimming in the natural pools and also sandy beach/swimming opportunity, and finally, a local Poncha bar!! Honestly, an action packed, beautiful day with Miguel looking after us and making sure we had the best time. He is a one-man-band and his tours are unique - unlike the larger jeep tour companies on the island. If you get the chance, please book a tour with Miguel - you won't regret it

Incredible tour today with Miguel and another couple! 5* for the tour itself and 5* for Miguel. Miguel is a great guide and really cares about showing you the best of the island, there were numerous times we saw convoys of other jeeps heading the opposite direction towards the main roads and tunnels, just as we were about to head up over the mountains through off-road sections and quiet winding roads with stunning views. Over 200 reviews with nothing but 5 stars is incredibly rare but well deserved. Worth taking the lunch deal, to get the same without it would cost double. Tip: get in touch with Miguel before you get here as he will be booked up far in advance.

We were left speechless from our day with Miguel! His tour was not only the highlight of our trip, I can honestly say it was one of the most special experiences I have had in my life. We chose the north west tour. From the moment miguel picked us up in the morning, he felt like a close friend!The jeep tour was 4 people total, making it an intimate experience. His jeep is amazing! It has no roof so once we were off main roads, we were able to stand up. We actually passed by a few other jeep tour companies and saw lots of people cramped up into a small jeep, they watched in jealousy as the 4 of us were standing and able to smell the fruit in the air, feel the jungle with our hands, and sun on our skin! Miguel took us to unique remote places and throughly explained where we were and what interesting thing to look out for. The day was full of laughter and beauty. The weather forecast in Madeira is unpredictable but there is no bad day to go with Miguel! The moment we felt a light drizzle, he graciously asked if we wanted to cancel and when we said no, he took us through the fog in the jungle and drove us above the clouds to sunshine. A jeep tour in Madeira with Miguel is a must. It was the best day in Madeira. Miguel is very friendly and you can see he is passionate about what he does. He gave us some very useful insider tips ;) Unfortunately, we didn't have enough days to plan a second trip with him during the holiday, but we will definitely go back and plan more trips with Miguel. In case you do not have a car, this is the best way to explore Madeira with him. The best part was to stand in the jeep while he was driving. We had an adrenaline rush when he drove through all those slopes :) In the end we had a Poncha stop where we talked and laughed, he also took some very nice photos. All in all, it was a great trip and is highly recommended! :)
This is a must do on your visit to madeira. Traveling with Miguel is like traveling with a friend. He gives you a personal treatment and is very passionate about the island. He shows you the places that a traditional guide of a big company is not showing you. He never rushes you and wants to make sure you see the beautiful island through your eyes. We had a great explanation about the different types of fruits, we walked through a levada with a breathtaking view, we had a great offroad trip, stopped at various viewpoints to enjoy the island. Swimmed in porto moniz, had the best food for an affordable price and had the best poncha. I can't express enough how good Miguel is. We are already planning the next trip with him as traveling with him is the best way to discover the island. It is definitely worth the money.

Absolutely the best open jeep tour one can do of Madeira! Miguel is super friendly, informative and flexible. He made sure to avoid the tunnels and take us off-roading on the scenic routes, avoiding overly touristy sights. We were a group of 5 friends who wanted to see Madeira off the beaten path and that's exactly what this was. A very relaxed, unregimented day seeing the beautiful sights in North western Madeira. A must do if you want to see what's oustide of Funchal.

We did the full day tour to Porto Moniz with my wife Leena. Miguel was right on time picking us up at our hotel in Lido. He told us about the wonderful flora and fauna of the island and stopped whenever he or us saw interesting plants like the many species of passion fruit growing in the wild. We avoided all the tourist places and even had a less known levada walk with nobody but us there. Porto Moniz is a must place for anyone visiting Madeira. We had a wonderful lunch for 12€ with a restaurant that Miguel had an arrangement with for his jeep tour. We also had plenty of time to swim in the tidal pools. They are great with the water changing when the waves are high. The waves also bring fish to the pools which are great if you have a mask and snorkel. On the way to Funchal we stopped at a local bar with no tourists for poncha. It was great watching the bartender make the poncha, we also got some peanuts and were told to throw the peanut peels on the floor like they do traditionally in Madeira. Miguel is a kind and friendly person who does his tours like a friend showing places to another friend. You can't get any more personal service then this. Forget the other jeep companies and go with Miguel.

Our booked Northwest tour on 02.05.2026 with “Miguel is here” was simply fabulous and absolutely unique! We have seen an incredible number of hotspots, but also discovered numerous hidden places that you would never have found on your own. The many routes off the main roads were particularly impressive – this is where the true Madeira is revealed. Miguel shares an enormous amount of inside information and valuable tips. An incredible experience for the raw northwest of Madeira. Miguel is an incredible, deep knowledge of the unknown wood, which takes us to the most picturesque points of the island, by breathtaking paths and better... away from the tourist routes. Good communication at the forefront. We were picked up as agreed. Then the tour went through local and low traffic roads to a fantastic viewpoint over the island to the northwest. Miguel had chosen a day where we got the most out of the weather. Delightful stops along the way, loaded living walks and delicious lunch in Porto Moniz with swimming in the natural pool. Great tour on the northwest side. Lovely offroad and fun to favor local cafes when stopping for coffee and poncha. Booking a tour with Miguel is well invested money, can not have such a unique experience with the charter companies. We were 4 (2 adults + 2 teenagers) and got our own jeep. Even though we drove off-road, we never felt unsafe.

We normally always pick out all Unpacked and then drive them off with a rental car, but for the northeast of the island we decided to go on a full-day tour with Miguel and were more than thrilled. The jeep could accommodate 6 people but to make it as comfortable as possible Miguel only offers tours for max. 4 people on. We were lucky enough to do our tour with a really nice older Scottish couple who are so enthusiastic about Madeira that they come back to the island every year. It wasn't her first tour with Miguel either. The tour itself was unique. Miguel showed us the most beautiful places and photo tops and told us a lot of interesting facts about the island. My highlight was the off-road route up the mountain and the freshly made poncha in a local bar. We generally felt very well off with him and would like to say thanks again here for all the restaurant tips he has sent us! We can really highly recommend the Safari!!:)
