We had a fabulous time on this excursion! You truly get to experience the beauty and wonder of Madeira by taking this exciting tour to the other side of the island. It is truly breathtaking, seeing the trees in the forest, the natural pools and appreciating the lovely landscapes. This tour was worth every dollar spent and I would highly recommend taking it. Be sure to bring a towel and water shoes as the rocks are quite slippery in the ocean. The guide picked is up and dropped us off directly at the cruise terminal which was super helpful on a day the ship was departing early from Funchal.

Great family experience! I recommend to sit at the back of the jeep to have a proper adventure experience 😁
This was a definite highlight of our holiday on Madeira and it’s highly recommended! Our driver was Pedro who kept as entertained and informed on the whole trip. It gives you lots of sights to see and explore with plenty of time at each stop. Driving in the Land Cruiser with the open roof up the hilly streets of Funchal was great fun and then we went off road and blasted along the dusty red trails which took it too another level. Our lunch stop (Dom Peixe) was recommended by Pedro and it was a good call. Weather was lovely and sunny all day , even got to swim too! Definitely a highlight of our trip and can’t recommend it enough!
We had a fantastic day our guide was amazing ! Unfortunately I forgot his name but he loved all the animals talked to the cows … great knowledge of the fauna and island. Funny and accommodating to all the age groups on our tour . Thank you
Excellent trip from start to finish guide (Duarte i think) who was a stand in, was a botanist that showed us in great detail many plants with much humour. Took us to great places including the fanal forest and sexiual pools. Fully recommend this trip
Amazing Day trip, the guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. A must to do in Madeira!
An excellent "tasting plate" of some of Madieras amazing scenery and activities. Luis our driver was really interesting and gave us lots of helpful advise
Jacinta was fantastic host & tour lead. Great small group tour with a good amount of free time and lots of stops
Have a good back the off-road is brilliant fun but your back knows about it. It a great way to see the island
We had amazing guide. He shared with us lots of information about Madeira and things we saw. Off road ride was spectacular and thrilling. Highly recommend.
The day tour was fantastic and offered a wonderful variety of experiences—from scenic mountain trails and exciting bumpy jeep rides to misty forests and relaxing volcanic pools. Every part of the journey was unique and enjoyable. Our driver, Enia, was incredibly informative, friendly, and helpful throughout the entire trip. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting the area.
Thank you Marco for sharing your stories, knowledge & local tips of Madeira! Loved swimming the pools, off road driving was fun & learning about the island from a local helped make this a special trip🥰
We had a blast. Picked up on time from the hotel, only one other couple in our jeep so plenty of room. Taken up into the mountains, well above the cloud level for the day; which meant some great pics. The off-road bit was crazy good. Thoroughly enjoyed the whole day even though the sea was so rough it prevented us from having a dip. Special shout out to Enya, our driver and host for the day. Always making sure we were ok and ever so friendly. For the price, this tour is a must.
It was a lovely day with variating sceneries around the island and our superb guide Enya. She was very warm and kind to us and drove safely on challenging roads (some of those were realllly bumpy indeed). There was enough time for lunch and swimming and the schedules were negotiable.
Excellent off road trip, lots of information and very interesting. We had a great guide who knew about the history, plants and wildlife
Jose was an excellent guide. Very knowledgeable. Always clear with what and where we were going. Jovial and friendly. Even though the weather was inclement during the high off-roading forest trek, it was still worth the adventure. And always fun watching 5 tour guides trying to change a flat tyre ;)
Our guide/driver was fantastic. Knowledgable, friendly and keen to give us the most out of our experience. Pack for all weather conditions and bring lots of water! Only negative thing to note is the car did break down at the end of the trip and the company arranged to have us picked up. This experience was the highlight of the trip and such a great way to see Madeira and avoid driving around the tight and steep roads.
Fabulous day out seeing some beautiful sights - this was a last minute replacement operator/trip after being let down by our first choice booking - we were very pleased to find 3 spaces to see a little more of the island. Loved the 4x4 experience ….in general. Driver was great and drove extremely well and safely throughout, although hard to hear what little commentary there was in the back. However….we were in vehicle number 2….beware! In our opinion, this vehicle needs some serious attention. We appreciate these vehicles get an absolute battering, but the back door opened twice whilst going up steep hillsides….aghhh! The back step was missing, seat belts were variously broken or defective and the padding and handles in the back are not sufficient to prevent serious head injuries on the roof bars whilst off road. We didn’t see much going up hill as we were leaning forward grabbing under the seat and person in front to avoid being thrown backwards and fracturing our skulls on the metal cage bars. None of the dashboard dials were working either…not one!?? Bonkers. We still loved the trip, but check out the vehicle before you sign up…especially for the risk averse squashed in the back!
Beautiful ride through the countryside of Madeira Marco our guide was intelligent informed personable. The Jeep ride up the mountain was an experience of a lifetime through some of the most challenging roads I’ve ever been on..
Thanks for the tour :) recommend this if you have few days left and want to see the parts you haven’t seen yet on Madeira
Diego was our driver and we had such a good experience, with all information covered, advising where to eat and see,had so much fun standing in a jeep and having chance to make amazing videos and pictures (not on the road, just when we went off road) Highly recommended do all trips around the island
Great tour! Great guide! Great way to see the island. Highly recommended for those who like a bit of off-roading too.
Our driver (forgot the name) drove very wild. It was like a formula 1 coureur. I really got sick and almost quite the tour. I asked him to drive slower, which he did, but in the end it got wild again and I had to ask it again. He said he forgot. Also he could not find the way to one of the hotels and after a while he said he had no data at his phone to put on gps. So I used mine to show him the way, which is totally ridiculous ofcourse. Also he kept saying how old his car was (28 years) and that he could not do all reparations because there are too many cars in the company to take care of. That made me not feel safe, especially not with his driving style. The cars are not really comfortable at all. If you are a bit older (Which I am not!) and want a comfortable drive…. Don’t go with this! You are in the car a big part of your day.
Vehicle in very poor condition. Seats were loose with missing bolts (Front and back). Rear passenger door faulty to the point the driver didn't know if he could fix it. Seat belts were very poor with not retracting properly. (Again as seen in the photo)Minimal off road time. One very short stretch up an old cobbled road. Commentary was disappointing. Wont be using again. Had an amazing trip last year with one of their competitors. The company response. The vehicle had passed our equivalent of an MOT. That is only valid on the day it is done. The vehicle should be checked regularly. Very disappointed by trip and company response. Driver said the vehicle was very old with a very high mileage. Nothing like what they display in their advertising. Checked with Travel agent we booked through who was very helpful and she agreed that a lot of the off road had been missed out possibly as we were picking an additional passenger up some distance away. As always the pictures will speak a 1,000 words. Company did not respond to anything about my actual disappointment with the trip.
We were all cramped into a tiny minibus full to the brim of all sized passengers who struggled to see out the tiny windows. Meanwhile the driver did his best to communicate in both Portuguese and English and it was quite obvious that he knew his stuff about everything related to the West of Madeira. He did a good job and was kind and friendly.
Brilliant and unique way to see a part of the island. The guides were very good at pointing out wee hidden gems along the way. I would definitely go again 👌
It was grate trip. The gide was one of the best gide I have met. He told us about plants and all places we went through, he was very funny and good driver. The last stop was simulated to places we have home so he took us into the waley and showed us beautiful local places.
non-communicative company, pick-up was half an hour late, no reply from company to messages. Pretty silent guide - no idea who he was, didn’t say! Just the odd word shouted - “bananas” and pointed to bananas growing… No explanation of itinerary, sights etc. Tour was 7 hours, not 8. Can’t recommend - there are probably others that are better.
It was just amazing and Pedro was the best guide. I didn’t do my research and didn’t have enough clothes with me so I guess not everyone is as stupid as me but wrap up warm in the mountains 😊
It really is the best way to see Madeira, our driver was brilliant, only down side is you can't control the weather, especially in December & visibility was a bit restricted on the mountain tops but no-one can control that 😂. Would imagine it would be spectacular in Springtime. Loved it though & would definitely recommend it.
A very interesting route, the beauty of the island and the power and skills of people were shown. Guide Duarte just perfect!
Madeira is advertised as a beautiful island of mountains, sea, valleys and levadas coupled with beautiful scenery. When researching how best to get a taste of all this we felt that tarmac roads and cushioned seats wouldn’t let us experience the true Madeira. Viator, through The Green Devils allowed us a true off road experience and we loved it. Thank you
Well organised, interesting trip. Pedro was amazing. Tip: be aware it can be cold in the mountains, so be prepared; we got lucky with the weather thankfully but we were not dressed for cold!
The wild four-wheel- drive portion was really rough. It was much worse for us as we were in the jump seats in the back. I was feeling a little beat up, no -a lot beat up. But my husband had the time of his life and is still thanking me for booking it. We got to see a lot of the island.
We took tours on the first two days of our trip and it was a really good way to get a feel for the island. After the two days we felt like we'd been there a week already because we saw so much. Octávio was an amazing tour guide. He gave us so many great tips of things to go back and see/do as we had a car for our trip. He let us know places we could go that are a little off the beaten track and recommended some really good places to get lunch. The tour itself was fantastic, absolutely worth the money. These tours do some serious off-roading, the tour we took with another company the second day really didn't compare. If you want to go for a swim, I'd highly recommend the pools at Seixal instead of Porto Moniz as they are less busy, cheaper and I would say more beautiful. We were very lucky with the weather, it can be so changeable especially up in the mountains but even if the weather wasn't great I think we still would have loved the tour.
An amazing experience, really lovely guide who made the experience 100 times better, the views were exceptional and we had enough time to do what we wanted! Thank you Duarte!
This experience was the best day I had on my trip with my friend to Madeira. I highly recommend it. You get to see so many sites like waterfalls and viewpoints overlooking the mountains and fanal forest and my favourite the natural pools where you get to swim and even overlook the sea. The weather wasn’t really working with us and was foggy and rainy for most of it but the weather on Madeira is unpredictable and we still had a fantastic time. Our tour guide was incredible and really funny, telling us all the facts about Madeira. We even went off road in the 4x4 which was so fun. I couldn’t recommend this more its great value for money and you get to meet lots of people and make friends, ideal for solo travellers.
This was an incredible experience. The scenery is so stunning. Swimming in the natural pools was so special. Going to Fanal to see the trees was magical. I highly recommend this tour.
Diego was an excellent guide, nothing was too much trouble. The open top jeep tour on the off road section was exhilarating and the whole trip was thoroughly enjoyable. We loved the swimming as well.
Could not recommend this experience any more! A fantastic tour of the island, stopping at all of the hot spots. Our driver was so friendly and easy to chat to - very knowledgeable about the island, I learnt a lot! There’s no better way to explore Madeira than on a jeep, the off-roading was so fun! A real highlight of my trip!
We had such an incredible time on the Madeira West – Enchanted Terraces & Fanal UNESCO jeep tour! Our guide, Pedro, was amazing — young, energetic, and full of positive energy. He made the entire day so much fun while sharing interesting stories and facts about Madeira’s history and nature. The views were absolutely breathtaking, and the open-top jeep made the experience even more exciting. It was the perfect mix of adventure, beauty, and learning. Highly recommend this tour and definitely ask for Pedro if you can!
This tour was absolutely outstanding — truly unique and unlike any other experience I’ve had in Madeira. It was filled with adventure, beautiful wilderness, and exciting off-road moments. Our guide, Pedro, was exceptional — knowledgeable, skilled, and a great driver. We jokingly told him he didn’t manage to scare us, but in reality, it was an unforgettable and thoroughly enjoyable experience. Even with the fog and rain, the trip was amazing. I would recommend it without hesitation! 🙌
The tour was wonderful and pleasure. The tour guide Armando did everything to do this tour so successfully. Thank you Armando.
We had a blast with Eduardo as our driver. He was funny and really knowledgeable about Madeira and all the places we went to. It was an adventure I’ll always remember.
Great way to get around to various spots, with some privileges not having to deal with parking. Jump out and go see the attraction and carry on to the next spot. Great guide and jokes from him throughout the day, with lots of added info and question answering!
There is some great off reading which does get bumpy. Tops of mountains get cold and misty. Additional money for lunch was well the cost. Eddie was a very informative driver who made the experience great fun.
Great tour, very nice and professional guide. 4x4 12 km ride was ousum. I would definitely recommend this tour. A+++
An all day trip including some exciting off road trails. We saw many different trees & plants our driver/guid,Ed, was very good in the flora & fauna - we stopped to pick herbs such as oregano, bay leaves & rosemary. We walked alongside a levada and experienced the sun tropical nature of Madeira. Unfortunately, the clouds were low so we could not see the 3 high oeaks. We enjoyed seeing the Funal Forest of ancient laurel trees despite a heavy downpour of rain! We had a very good typical lunch with wine. The highlight was swimming in the sea pools in the ancient lava rock. We had a great day & would thoroughly recommend it! The sun came out in the afternoon so even the wet weather didn’t spoil our experience. We got a great feel of the west side of Madeira and our guide was also good on the history & culture.
We had a fabulous day. Saw some amazing sights. Timing for each viewpoint or stop was just right. The offroading is great fun. Diego was a great guide, knowledgeable about the island, generally helpful, as well as being an excellent driver. This was a great way to experience the West/Northwest of the island. Well worth the money.
Highly recommend! The Jeep tour west was very good! You get to see some much of the island in a day plus a 4x4 trail. Our tour guide George was very nice and funny! :)
