Great half day tour, especially if you don't have a lot of time. Our guide was Roberto and we spent a nice time visiting Eira do Serrado, Valley of the Nuns and Câmara de Lobos.

Very good tour to amazing area with guide (Roberto). Pick up and drop off on time . I would recommend.
Well worth the trip. Enjoyed the scenery, and information provided, and touring the villages. The duration was perfect.
This is well laid out tour with variety of experiences of spectacular views, pretty villages, beautiful drives accompanied by interesting description by the driver (forgot the name :() He is really good 👍
Fantastic and interesting tour, well worth doing. Driver was good and everything ran to time, would recommend.
Great value trip giving an insight into the mountain areas. Little rushed but covered 3 good stops. Would recommend. Thank you.
Good way to explore the area without having to drive
Nuns Valley and the tour were great. The vehicle was dated and showing its age. Our driver, Alfredo, wasn’t the most talkative/ informative but we enjoyed all the places included on the tour.
Great experience up the mountain. The views over the valley were incredible. Interesting to see the village and try Chestnut cake and Poncha. The tour guide was very informative and entertaining.
This is a great half day trip! The van was new and had great A/C. The guide Bruno was excellent and gave us very good information. The view of the Valley is spectacular. I did get the Chesnut cake that was recommended, but it wasn’t for me. I prefer the Pastel de nada treat that is available all over the island. I would encourage anyone to book this trip!
This was one of my favourite trips. The scenery is breathtaking - truly stunning. Up at the viewpoint, although there were people around, it has a feeling of peace and tranquility. Truly beautiful. The little town below has a lovely church and there is a lovely ceramics shop next to the cafe. Our guide Bruno was excellent - very knowledgeable and extremely funny. The trip also takes you to Camera de Lobos - beautiful fishing town. This trip was definitely worth doing - highly recommend.
Good afternoon trip. The mini bus was a bit on the small side and the aircon wasn’t very efficient but it didn’t spoil the trip to much
A really nice experience of the valley, viewpoint and the fishing village. I think our tour guide could’ve spoke more and explained more to us as I felt we were left to our own devices a bit. There is not a lot to actually do in the valley itself aside from try some chestnut flavoured foods, there is a restaurant and some tourist shops there but the main part is seeing the view of it from the viewpoint. A short trip, spending 30 mins at the viewpoint (to climb it) and 30 mins in the valley itself. I think some more time is needed in the fishing village perhaps to have lunch and explore it a bit more.
Our guide, Roberto was very accommodating and provided Good information. He also was an excellent driver. Our only disappointment with the experience was the time it took to pick up all the tourists at the different hotels and the time it took to drop them off, which took approximately 30 minutes at the beginning of the end of the trip.
Great afternoon out with Bruno, taking us from our hotel to the wonderful view point to see the Valley of the Nuns from above and then down to the valley to a tasty chestnut cake and then further down to Camara de Lobos to drink a poncho.
Simply the best 1/2 day experience with an incredibly knowledgeable guide. This is a must the views are stunning and the Puncha is strong
Great day out - we got a little lost finding the pick-up point and they waited for us. The guide was knowledgeable about the area and we had time to stop at the top and in the valley, along with going to the cutest fishing village.
Bruno was a lovely driver, very impressed that he did the tour in two languages. The valley itself was very impressive, the view is incredible. We had already been to Camara de lobos on a previous tour, so we took the opportunity to have lunch which was good.
Lovely vehicle and really good guide and driver
This was the first trip of five for us on the beautiful island of Madeira. And a great way to start. A nice trip for both young and old. Our guide knew so much about the area and its history. We had great views of the Valley. There were places to shop for souvenirs or a snack, and a visit to a fishing village. You must try the local Black Scabbard Fish and Banana. I would highly recommend this trip.
Interesting, scenic our driver tour guide was informative ,humerus and knowledgeable We would totally recommend this half day tour.
The valley of the nuns is a spectacular sight to see. We took this tour but it was more like a transfer. We arrived at the valley of the nuns and the driver pointed to the viewpoint to tell us where to go. Afterwards we made a very long stop to try chestnut products. Lastly, we stopped at Camoros dos Lobos . The driver told us where to walk and we had time to take some photos.
Bruno was a very knowledgeable, funny guide, beautiful views, lots of information and perfectly timed stops.
Great half day tour, out guide and driver Alfredo was very knowledgeable and gave us lots of local information and pointed out lots of interesting places and plants along the way. There was enough time in each place and I felt the tour was well paced.
Can’t fault it, the pick up, the driver/guide etc. Nunn’s Valley is a bit dull though, very touristy. The company who took us 5 star but the actual tour just ok
Lovely trip out, the guide Bruno, was amazing, speaking in 3 languages and driving the rugged roads up and down the valley. The high level view point of the valley was a short steep walk from the mini bus, and the trip down to the town was full of great views. The chestnut cake was very tasty. Then the stop off at the harbour village was spectacular, ball decked out for that festival of San Pedro. Beautiful spot.
Was picked up at the hotel, and was a great tour in the time allowed. Very informative driver and interesting places we went to.
Poor experience. Perhaps the worse of all Viatours we booked. Diver bearly spoke info about the places to visit. Lido Tours provided a microbuz that was warned off compared to the other tours i've seen picking up people at our hotel. Nothing that I can recommend.
Great all rounded trip and cheap at the price. Guide was excellent
Excellent half day trip, enjoyed the three stops equally. Informative driver and nice to be with a small group.
Fantastic driver/guide. Really interesting narration about the islands history, nature, folklore etc .
The scenery is breathtaking. The Fisherman’s Village was very historic. We had a late start as the tour guide was given additional people to pick ip. The air conditioning in the van was barely working, and we had 16 people in close proximity. However, the tour itself was good.
Friendly driver. The stops are good but more time would have been nicer at the fishing village to sit and have a drink without feeling rushed.
An easy trip with the opportunity to see places we wouldn't drive to ourselves. 3 stops. Tour guide was very good
It’s a lovely trip with a friendly and knowledgeable driver. Definitely try the chestnut cake’s etc that he recommends
We had a lovely trip and the weather was ideal enabling the lovely views from the look out overlooking the Valley of the Nuns, which we knew in mountainous areas sometimes doesn’t happen. It was remarkably peaceful there. Our guide Luciano was lovely and provided lots of information as we drove around. We would recommend.
Nuns Valley is a Must see. The smaller group of about 15 was a good size. Would not want larger groups with the big buses. Guide was great!
Fantastic views and fascinating story about the nuns bold escape from pirates . Great cake 🎂 and coffee in Curral de Freitas. You can try local, chestnut 🌰 based treats including a liqueur
This tour was a disappointment for us, there was no narration for some reason. The guide used a microphone at the beginning but stopped, I am not sure if it quit working but he also had trouble with his English. We did see the Valley of the Nuns, just no background info, which was disappointing.
Taster of Madeira- a three stop tour- lovely fishing village, viewpoint & small village. Sadly on our trip we had problems with picking up people- we were still in Funchal nearly 45 mins before the tour started then had to return promptly to return customers back to cruise ship- so all felt a little rushed & made the driver very grumpy!!
Breathtaking! Such an awesome experience. Marco our guide was so helpful and knowledgeable - genuinely nice person who is passionate about his native place. Don’t think twice about doing this trip guys - you’ll miss out!!
Fantastic view over the valley, very sympatic and knowledgeable guide. Comfortable minibus with a nice 3 1/2 hour trip.
Our guide Bruno was great. He shared relevant facts about the Nun's Valley while giving us plenty of time to explore and take pictures of the dramatic mountains and scenery. Our bus had a mix of German and English speaking passengers, and his ability to seamlessly translate both languages was amazing. We're glad we spent an afternoon seeing the beautiful island of Madeira.
A real good tour. 3.5 hours is ideal to see everything. Excellent driver/guide, knowledgeable and friendly. I can’t remember his name but he made it enjoyable for us.
A good way to visit a place which is otherwise quite inaccessible. Anyone who suffers from travel sickness should probably take suitable precautions. I took my usual travel tablet and was absolutely fine. Our guide, Marco, had a good sense of humour and told us many interesting tales about the history of the area. We had plenty of time at each stop to take photos, have a drink and enjoy the views. Thoroughly enjoyable 😊
Great first trip tour guide was very sweet…sadly i forgot her name but she knows her history of the island and speak very well
I booked thru Viator with Lido tours on Saturday a half day tour at 1330 pm . They contact me 5 hours before the planned trip to cancel it with a excuse that there were other cancellations and they could not take just one passenger . Cancellations are done 24 hours before so why didn’t they contact me 1 day before when they got the cancellations ? The truth is probably I think they were hoping to get more passengers and took me for granted . And then cancelled when they didn’t get enough people . That ruined my day as I couldn’t get another trip on last minute . They should not only refund my money , I should be compensated for a whole day which I couldn’t use for sightseeing . Every da y counts when you are vacationing for 6 days . Don’t book with Lido tours which is used by viaror
Bruno shared an immense amount of knowledge of the locality and Madeira's culture throughout the trip in both English and German. We spent an appropriate amount of time at each of the stops. Although an initial steep walk, most definitely not a hike and there's enough time to go at a leisurely pace. I would recommend this as a relaxing trip to see some of the island.
This is a very relaxed tour. If you are looking for some great views, pictures, and a chill pace this is the tour for you. 3 stops, lots of time for coffee, pastry, wandering. At no point did I feel rushed. The valley is the highlight and spectacular!
A well paced trip, sandwiched nicely to relax between the challenging hikes. We stopped off multiple points on interest for photos and ice cream. Fabio was a great guide, really knows his stuff about Madeira, made it enjoyable and informative. Nuns valley view point was incredible, ample time to enjoy the scenery. We went on a Sunday and nuns valley was very quiet, as locals were probably resting. No pressure souvenir shops, in fact cheaper than Funchal for items we wanted to buy. Last stop over was fishing village, enough for pics and looking around.
