Madeira Surfing Lessons - Aroundfreedom Surf School

We had an absolutely fantastic time surfing! The whole experience was so much fun, and our coach was amazing. He really took the time to pay attention to each and every one of us, making sure everyone felt comfortable, supported, and had a great experience. The group was the perfect size, which made the atmosphere relaxed and personal. Even with no previous surfing experience, we were able to make real progress and celebrate some great successes on the board! We can wholeheartedly recommend this experience to everyone. An unforgettable time with a great coach and a wonderful atmosphere. We’d definitely do it again!

Fantastic experience, don't worry if you have no idea how to surf. They know exactly what they're doing and will get you up on the board in no time!

Our instructor Francisco was super friendly and professional. We had a small group since 2 people cancelled last minute so the whole experience was very personal. He managed to give us different "tools" on how to standup on the board and had a lot of patience to help us learn and have a lot of fun during the process. Specially good for beginners.

Absolutely amazing! 🔥 ​My daughter and I tried surfing for the very first time, and we were absolutely thrilled! We fell in love with the waves so much that we immediately took three lessons — and we would have taken more, but unfortunately, we had to catch our flight back. ​A huge thank you to our instructor, Francisco! He is super positive, fun, and a true professional. We felt completely safe with him; he gave us incredible support and amazing energy. ​If you are hesitating whether to try it or not — definitely go for it! Francisco, you are the best! 🏄‍♀️✨

We are extremely grateful to Francesco for a new experience for us. The waves were quite big, but thanks to Francesco it was fun and not scary. We will definitely come back next time. It was awesome. I recommend it.

The Surf Training was very nice and a lot of fun. Francisco was a good Coach and made a lot of fun with us. We were just 4 people, so a really small group and able to contuosly surf all the time. They also took a lot of photos and sent them to us. Would Always recommend!

It was a beautyfull experience, the guys were very nice and ready to give any support you needed. I book in a day with a very bad weather and the guys posponed the lesson without any extra coust and they were even available to give the mony back. At the end of the lesson they give us some professional photos

My sister and I booked three surf lessons with About Freedom and had an amazing time! Roberto, who runs the surf school, speaks Portuguese, French, and English fluently, which made it super easy to get tips and feedback. Both Roberto and Francisco had great pointers to help us get better, and they always made sure we were safe and having fun. I also really liked the small group size—it meant we all caught loads of waves and got to learn from them. I’ve taken surf lessons in a bunch of places around the world, and About Freedom is definitely one of the best experiences I’ve had. Plus, I got an awesome pic (thanks to Anna, the Social Media intern)! Thanks so much for an unforgettable time!

Great surf coaches and a lot of fun! It was me with my teen son and we had fun but came away tired and bruised. The rocks on the beach are no joke.

We surfed for the first time. We had a great time. Our coach was able to assess the waves and the situation well. He was very enthusiastic and motivating.

Great experience for someone who tried for their first time. Francisco took his time to explain every detail to us in a funny and friendly way. We were a small group of four that day, which also helped. Location is also nice, wasn't busy. He gave individual advices as well and sticked with us to catch some waves, which we actually managed to do and achieve. Was fun, I would recommend it.

The instructors were cheerfull funny and explained the basics of surfing really well, i can recommend these guys to everyone and im sure you are gonna have fun Aroundfreedom surf school.

The experience was great. We got good instructions on how to surf and we could all catch small waves at the end of the activity. The guide was very friendly and helped us with questions besides the activity itself ( good restaurants, other tips etc.). Would recommend, very good!

It was nice for a fist time, learning the basics. The Coach was very friendly and cheerful. Nice to have dressingrooms and showers.

We were two beginners who had a great time. The coach did a wonderful job. With his help we could stand on the board within the first hour.

All good. I was with my daughter who is ten. There were eight budding surfers (first time mostly) and two cool surfer dudes teaching us. Everyone was really nice and we were all surfing standing up on the boards by the end of it. Just about and briefly!!! :)

This was amazing!! Even if you’re a principiant you can do this, Francisco was our trainer and he was really accurate in teaching us!!! I really reccomend this if you want to experience something new!

The team at Aroundfreedom were incredible. From pick up and drop off, and the whole morning. After a quick lesson we were on the water to maximize our time surfing. We were able to get a ton of waves. Those who doubted they could, were getting up most of the time. Incredible experience for people who always wanted to try surfing. Roberto was super friendly and a great communicator. He picked me up from my hotel and brought me to the surf school. There were three of us in the class and he made sure to pay close attention to everyone and helped us improve our skills. He was a great teacher and clearly had a lot of knowledge of the sport. I definitely feel more confident in my surfing abilities after this lesson and would definitely go back!!

I enjoyed it very much! The waves were perfect and our guide explained very nicely and with a lot of fun and jokes. I felt safe and well guided at all times I would definitely do it again right away! Thank you very much for this great experience! :-)

Great lesson, the waves weren't great in Machico so we drove to a better spot. I opted for the transfer from Funchal which could be paid cash or card and was really easy to spot as its a branded van. The dry prep was great for getting used to it and then it felt really safe in the ocean as the teacher went through all the safety bits to ensure everyone felt comfortable. Overall a great experience.

Our son had so much fun! Both surfing teachers were super kind and did a very good job (and there job is hard!) The surfing teachers are patient, motivated and make you feel good during the lesson! Roberto even picked us up at the hotel before the lesson and brought us back after wards!

Awesome afternoon surfing!! Definitly loved it. Instructor was very good, helps to get into the wave at the right time, pushes you if needed and tell you when to go up. Perfect way to discover this sport !! 🏄🏻‍♀️🏄🏻‍♀️ Takes half day to catch people, board and find a Perfect spot.
