Madeira Best Of The West Day Tour

We had a great day on the West Island Tour with Lido Tours. Nuno was our guide for the day and he was really knowledgeable about the island, the history, the agriculture and flora. He was friendly and able to have a laugh with us. We were a Group of 13 on the minibus and enjoyed all the aspects of the tour - including the lookouts and the lava pool swim when we got to Port Moniz. We never felt rushed, always had plenty of time at each stop and it was good to see more of the island. Next time we come we will definitely do another tour with Lido tours.

The tour guide gave plenty of details about the sites and history. We toured alot of territories but it never felt rush.

The tour was an excellent way to get a sense of western Madeira. Pick up was on time and the day unfolded at a leisurely pace. In particular we thought Roberto, our guide and driver, was excellent. He gave a commentary throughout the trip, which made the time on the road between stops informative and interesting. On the roads, which have a lot of hairpin bends, steep drops, his driving was sensible. This was then reassuring and gave time to see the surrounds.

We had such a good time on this tour. Was a very small group, we had an awesome tour guide! We were brought to some awesome spots and had 2 hrs in Porto moniz to swim, eat and explore. Highly recommend !

The Madeira Best of the West Day Tour was an amazing way to experience so much of the island in one day. The scenery was incredible, from dramatic cliffs and mountains to waterfalls, natural pools, and beautiful coastal views. Bruno was a fantastic guide and driver. He shared so much about Madeira’s history, culture, landscape, and the places we visited along the way. His stories and knowledge really helped us understand the island and made each stop feel more meaningful rather than just sightseeing. The day was well paced, with plenty of time to explore and enjoy each stop. Bruno was friendly, knowledgeable, and made the whole experience even better. I’d absolutely recommend this tour!

Amazing! I would totally recommend this tour. It is very chill and easy going, you go to the major sites on the West. I do wish that there was a stop at Ponta do Sol which is so beautiful and definitely with a stop.

Great tour guide, kept us entertained and showed us beautiful sites in Madeira! We also got a break to take a swim at the volcanic pools! Highly recommend!

Was a great experience i definitely enjoyed the time to my self to see and explore what I wanted. The guide Patricia was just remarkable she made the trip for me. Her commentary and knowledge was really appreciated by us the customers.

We had a very enjoyable day with lots to see. The vehicle was very comfortable and our guide (Nuno?)was friendly, informative and a confident driver. We stopped a few times and had lots of time to swim in the lava pools and get lunch. (Recommended).

An amazing trip around the north west coast of the Island. Noum was very interesting, being able to speak both Portuguese and English whilst driving up and down those roads was incredible! We made a group consensus not to stop at the first stop as it was too foggy but to do it on the return journey. The next village after that was lovely as was the lunch stop - enjoyed the lido and the waterfall after. The stop after was beautiful although I think 25 was perhaps a little too long?? Return journey was good and stopped at the first stop! All in all a great day out for the family. Would recommend

Our guide was interesting and lots of fun! We loved all the stops and wonderful photo ops. There was some confusion on the pickup however. We were told to look for a white van with a specific license number, and Lido on the side. After waiting way past the pickup time we finally heard someone call our name in a gray, unmarked van. We should have been notified of the change but weren't. I would double check the pickup the morning of the tour!

Very beautiful scenery and knowledgeable guide. Porto Moniz was the highlight of the tour. Many thanks for the memories!

This tour allows you to see the west side of the island. It is good to have someone to drive you around because all the roads are narrow, winding and hilly. Driver was late at pick up due to traffic. The tour is in a mini-van. There is like 13+ of us all together. First stop, Cabo Giro, I would say it is overrated. Just a tiny glass platform at the lookout point. Costs 5 euros to go in. I guess you pay for the price of the view. Toilet at this stops costs 0.50 euros. Next stop, Ribeira Brava, very boring and nothing to see. Driver made an extra effort to stop at Fanal forest which is good but watch out for the cow poops when you are in the forest area. It's like a land mine. Porto Monix has some nice ocean views and natural volcanic made swimming pools. Pretty much the picture you see at the introduction of this tour is the view you will get. Accurate. You can swim here (get tickets online to avoid line) during the 1.5 hours stay at this stop. Seixal is just another boring stop to see a small waterfall clearing into the ocean cliffs from a distance. Boring. Last stop, Ponta Delgada has nothing to see, really boring. Driver/ tour guide (same person) will explain stuffs on the road and you are on your own exploring at each stops. I am ok with that. But if you need someone to lead you by the nose throughout the tour, this is not the tour for you.

The tour was very good. Our guide was Nuno and here knew the area well. Lots of beautiful locations and we didn't feel rushed

We found the experience overall pleasant and at the right price. Our guide was very detailed in each part of the journey. The only suggestion I would give to Lido tours is to try and detail a bit better the location for pick up in Funchal at the pier. We were told go to “the end” of the ship but was at neither after racing on foot. “Exit terminal, turn right and walk 100 meters” would be suggested. Also while I do not fault the tour at all, the glass bridge overlook was a complete waste of money at EUR5 each. First the glass is dirty so you cannot see through it and second you get the same view from the parking lot. Save your money.

Fantastic all day trip. So much information. Just stunning scenery. Definitely a must see when visiting. Patricia was a bundle of knowledge.

Very enjoyable trip. The vehicle was just right everyone had hood views. Our tour guide was brilliant ...loads of information and switched languages seamlessly. Hos driving too was confident and he negotiated the vertical tight bits superbly.

It was great value and well done. We got to see all that was available to see without being rushed. Our guide Bruno was excellent and was a great source of information.

Very good overview of the western half of the island. Quite varied and interesting! Highlights of us: sea cliff/glass walkway; high plateau; Porto Moniz.

Excellent informative and attentive tour, lots of options and rest stops included with practical advice. We were 3 friends in our 30s and had a great time and got great pictures thanks to the advice from the guide. Thank you!

We had an excellent tour with this company. We were lucky with the weather as it was a very miserable day when we were picked up but by first stop it had improved. The pick was bang on time from our hotel and the driver/tour guide was extremely good and very good at explaining things as we went along despite having to concentrate on driving as the Madeira roads are challenging. The tour gave us a good overview of that part of Maderia.

We did both tours with Lido (East and West) and found that East one to be much better not only in terms of the places we stop but also our driver was much friendlier than the one for the West tour. Best stop for the West tour was the first one, Cabo Girao, where the view was beautiful. Ribeira Brava was so-so, there was nothing special to do or see. The waterfall (Veu da Noiva) was great but nothing special. We had a set lunch at Porto Moriz which was okay (better than the lunch we had on the East tour). Unfortunately we didn't go to the natural pools as the weather was dreadful.

Took the very good Western Madeira day trip with Nano. He provided the right mix of just, geography, humor to the route while showing the best of the island . Highly recommend it.

A great tour and saw a variety of different places and things. Driver was very knowledgeable and had a good sense of humor too.

It qas a very nice trip. However, some stops were unnecessarily long. There was no stop to see the beautiful trees in the Fanal forest.

Good way to see Madeira without renting a car. All the stops were worthwhile. Our driver/guide Bruno was excellent.

Exceptional. Friendly, informative, relaxing and good value for money. I loved the way the schedule was modified according to interest, traffic and external factors. Guide had excellent sense of humour and knowledge. Linguistic skills remarkable. A super full day out. I would recommend to anyone.

This is the best way to see the island. We had the same guide for both the East and West tour of Madeira and he constantly provided us with information throughout the tour. The scenery was spectacular and the ease of not having to drive ourselves made for a fabulous day.

A lovely tour of the west of Madeira. Good pace, friendly and informative guide and fun fellow travelers. Could not have absorbed all that I saw without a good guide. A great 360 overview and then make a plan for places to see on your own.

Arrived in time, comfortable ride, skillful and condifent driver, speaking fluent English, German and Portuguese, maybe more... Knowledgeable about the area. Made it interesting for everyone, funny. I was very impressed.

West Tour was absolutely excellent. We saw all parts of western Madeira and had plenty of time to look around and enjoy the views. I would especially like to praise our driver and tour guide, Bruno, who made the trip even more enjoyable. I can only highly recommend this tour.

The guide and driver was a nice lady that did both driving and tour guide Left us at several points to see the view and go around by ourselves. Great value for money.

Informative and helpful company. Nice tour guide. Not the clearest English translation during the trip. Spoke in Portuguese to the Portuguese tourists too. Got a lot of back noise from the driver breathing over the mic the whole day. That got a bit irritating. Mini bus tour. The stops were a bit dull to be honest. Wouldn’t go to these particular places again.

Great trip with Silvio from Madeira safari , best guide , lots local knowledge and doesn’t rush the tour . I highly recommend Silvio and Madeira safari for your off road trip .

Would thoroughly recommend this trip. West of Madeira holds plenty stunning places. The guide was fantastic, charismatic and very informative. Excellent value for money also.

Whether you are a seasoned traveler or not I have always learned the experience of meeting other people from different countries and learning about their culture is very exciting. Dino our tour guide does such an excellent in explaining in the language needed to make everyone comfortable.

The tour was nice. I appreciate our guide who despite having a bad day (agency logistics wise) he was nice, kind, funny and ensured we were all happy, informed and comfortable.

Overall ok, some of the stops didn’t add much to the day. The restaurant recommended for lunch was average. The guide was knowledgeable.

Lovely day taking in many sights on the island. Perfect opportunity to take in some history about the island approaching each location and then being given the opportunity to explore each area for a suitable length of time. Our host for the day and our driver were absolutely fantastic. I’m sorry their names have escaped me but we felt perfectly at ease with each of them. Would definitely recommend this trip. A relaxing way to explore!

Good Tour. We saw many nice places in one day. We had a long stop in port Moniz and many small ones in beautiful places.

Really enjoyable trip overall. Got to see a number of different parts of the island which is beautiful. Some of the stops are longer than would like which is the main issue when in a bigger group. Our driver and guide Bruno was very informative and funny.
