Madeira 4x4 Jeep Safari : Porto Moniz, Lava Pools & Fanal Forest

I really enjoyed this tour and would highly recommend it to anyone wanting to explore Madeira’s west coast. The itinerary offers a great variety of scenery, from Câmara de Lobos and the impressive cliffs at Cabo Girão to Ponta do Sol, the beautiful Fanal Forest, and the dramatic coastline at Ribeira da Janela. It also includes Porto Moniz, known for its natural volcanic pools, and Seixal. There is so much to see, and the different stops make it a lovely introduction to this part of the island. Miguel was an excellent guide and a big part of what made the experience so enjoyable. He was very informative, sharing interesting details about Madeira and the places along the route, which added a lot to the experience. Beyond his knowledge, I particularly appreciated how patient and flexible he was throughout the day. His approach made the tour feel relaxed and comfortable, and his willingness to accommodate made a real difference. Overall, a memorable day exploring Madeira with a guide who clearly cares about his guests’ experience. Thank you, Miguel, for making the tour such a pleasure!

Brilliant trip with Miguel in a nice small group. We saw some gorgeous sights around the west coast. We had plenty of time to explore them and look in the shops, we didn't feel under any time pressure. We were also given options of a couple of different places. Even the drive alone on the steep windy roads was a lot of fun. Miguel is an excellent driver 👌 Lots of time to relax over lunch and have a swim if we wanted to. My dad is elderly, hard of hearing and autistic and Miguel kept him in the front seat next to him so that he could hear and he dealt with him brilliantly. We saw some amazing places and incredible views with great company🤗 A fabulous day well worth doing, thankyou so much Miguel 🤩

Great way to see the island and its many beautiful areas. From a practical perspective bring a coat for the temperature change and rain. I would highly recommend the tour!

What a fantastic experience! We were picked up from our hotel and also joined by 2 other couples from their accommodation. I was a little worried that a whole day tour might be too long but it passed so quickly. It was a jam packed trip. We visited coastal villages, drove up mountainous roads and experienced the misty Fanal Forest. We had a stop for lunch and the day ended with a wine tasting before being dropped off back to our hotel. It was such a lovely way to see parts of Madeira. Our host was fun, friendly and knowledgeable. We highly recommend a tour with Warriors Adventure 😁

We had a great Jeep tour of the island with Miguel. He was very polite, professional & knowledgeable about all aspects of Madeira. An excellent day which I would recommend.

Logistics regarding trip were well communicated. Very responsive to messages. This is a great way to get an overview of the island. The back seats are really only for smaller people.. but this looked similar to most of the 4x4 trips on the route so I’d check if you are tall! Very friendly driver who takes you off the main roads and you see some interesting parts of Madeira you couldn’t on a larger vehicle.

We had a great day with our driver and guide Miguel. He picked us up from our hotel in the morning and dropped us off at the end of the tour. We were really happy we booked this specific tour since it was limited to our party - no competiting for the comfortable spots in the car or waiting on late arrivals. Miguel asked about our interests and made adaptions to the itinerary to suit our preferences. The island is beautiful and touring in a jeep really is the best since some sites are inaccessible to buses and larger coaches. Tip - the ground in Fanal Forest is a bit more difficult to walk than we expected so wear comfortable but solid closed towd shoes!

We had a wonderful tour of the west of Madeira with a group of other holiday makers yesterday. Miguel was a wonderful host/driver/ guide and we were soon laughing and chatting together. He took us on an unforgettable drive down roads not much more than alleyways and it was great fun.

The Jeep tour was definitely a 5/5. Miguel was a great tour guide. He was personable, informative and fun. Absolutely loved the small local roads he mixed into the routes making the drive entertaining. The company kept us informed about the reservation throughout the entire process with an immediate personal confirmation and day before pick up time confirmation. Felt very comfortable with everything and had an amazing day!

The tour was amazing, Miguel picked us up on time at the cruise terminal. All day long he drove us throughout the Island explaining each stop and giving us information about history and culture. He had every stop timed (which was good because we needed to get back on time to the cruise terminal) so we could enjoy without hurrying or missing anything. Excellent driver!!! (Believe me, you would want that!!! You’ll understand once you get to the Island) And well…. Madeira is beautiful!!!! I do recommend you wear layers…. Especially if you go to fanal forest, it gets cold. Totally recommend!!

Great communication from Miguel prior to trip, very reassuring. Prompt and early pickup in the jeep ensured that we visited all stops without encountering large numbers of other visitors, allowing us time to enjoy each location. Plus the jeep could negotiate some extraordinarily narrow and vertiginous 'roads', making the journey all the more interesting! Miguel is knowledgeable, friendly and able to adjust the trip for us. Money well spent.

We just finished up a great jeep tour of Madeira today with our friendly and knowledgeable driver Miguel. What fun! We were in awe of how he deftly navigated us through some of the islands narrow and twisty laneways, safely delivering us to many of Madeira’s most beautiful destinations. There’s a lot packed into the day, so I would highly recommend taking the tour early in your stay so that you can come back and revisit your favourite spots later on in your vacation. This tour was definitely money well spent!

We had an excellent day out with Miguel. Miguel took us to places we would never have found ourselves. The pace of the trip was very good with just enough time at each spot to fully make the most of the experience.

Great guide, excellent driver on the often very narrow & steep roads. Good sense of humor, helpful & respectful. Well planned stops & flexible so as to avoid crowded sites, returning later in the tour when hardly anyone was there.

10/10 experience! Miguel was an amazing driver and guide. Super knowledgeable, experienced, and made us feel comfortable the entire time. Even with all the off-roading, we never felt carsick or unsafe. Madeira is easily one of the most beautiful places we’ve ever visited, and Miguel made sure we got to experience some of the best views and spots on the island. He even knew exactly what times to take us places so we could avoid the crowds and really enjoy everything. Amazing experience from start to finish. Highly recommend Miguel and this tour!

We booked this tour with Warriors Adventure and it ended up being one of the highlights of our Madeira trip. Pickup was right on time and, although another couple joined us along the way, the small group size in the Mitsubishi Pajero made it feel very much like a private tour rather than a typical excursion bus experience. Miguel, was our driver, and boy was he experienced navigating some tough inclines and narrow passage in between the stops en route . Throughout the day he shared plenty of information about Madeira’s history, culture and landmarks, and his local knowledge really added to the experience. We now know a lot more about Bananas than before. Rather than simply driving from stop to stop, he took us along some beautiful scenic routes through forests and mountain landscapes that we probably wouldn’t have seen otherwise. I asked had he taken us through a few shortcuts, and far from from it he said, taking us through places a non local would simply have not known, fantastic stuff Miguel. The itinerary itself was fantastic, with highlights including Cabo Girão Skywalk, the stunning ancient trees of Fanal Forest (we didn’t get the famous mist on our visit, but it was still absolutely stunning nonetheless), Ribeira da Janela, Porto Moniz, Seixal Waterfall, Câmara de Lobos and a Madeira wine tasting at Henriques & Henriques. Each stop offered something different and we never felt rushed. What stood out most was the relaxed pace of the day. We had plenty of time to enjoy the viewpoints, take photos and soak up the scenery. Miguel even added an extra 15-minute refreshment stop towards the end, which was a nice touch and showed his flexibility and consideration for the group. If you’re looking for a more personal and enjoyable way to see the western side of Madeira, we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Warriors Adventure. A fantastic day out and excellent value for money.

Miguel gave us the ultimate tour! Picked us up directly from our hotel and gave us a full breakdown of how the day was going to go! We even had to rearrange a couple things to make sure we had the best views. Miguel also had expert knowledge and fun stories/jokes. Lastly the man sure knows how to drive all across the island! Up and down every hill! Will only ever book with Miguel.

It is well worth going. A lovely few hours on the sea viewing a pod of pilot whales and a pod of bottle nosed dolphins being very curious. It was a fantastic experience. Thank you so much. We would definitely recommend this tour.

we booked an all day tour through Madeira. Miguel, our guide, was incredibly knowledgeable and knew the places to go that were less crowded, provided great tidbits of history along the way. He was very accommodating, adjusting where we went based on what we wanted to see. should we ever come back (which we would love to!), we would absolutely book through this group again to tour the other side of the island!

Hi Migel, Had a really nice time and learnt lots of facts and information about the island and its flora and fauna. Stunning scenery and the exciting near vertical roads up to nearly 1400 metres above sea level til were literally up in the clouds. Through eucalyptus forests to the Stink Tree Laural which are highly protected as they are the only native tree in the Fanal Forest. We would recommend this tour as a lovely way to see the quaint and beauty of this lovely island with a very professional guide and driver with his sparkling wit, kindness and considerate way he looked after us. I am a nervous passenger and was apprehensive about going off road in Madeira but not only was Miquel an excellent driver but, as he drove, he spoke of the history of the island and its inhabitants, flora and fauna. The trip took us to places not accessible by many other tours and some of the sights were truly breathtaking. I highly recommend this trip.

We did the 4x4 Jeep Western Island Tour, visiting Porto Moniz, the natural lava pools, Fanal Forest, and so many other breathtaking and beautiful areas of Madeira. Every stop was spectacular, but what made the day truly special was having Franco as our driver and guide. Franco’s driving skills were absolutely amazing! He navigated Madeira’s steep inclines, narrow mountain roads, off-road trails, twists and turns with incredible confidence and precision. Some of the roads felt like a roller coaster, but Franco handled every turn and steep climb with such skill that we always felt completely safe. He knew the island so well and took us to beautiful places and viewpoints that we would never have discovered on our own. He was knowledgeable, friendly, professional, and made the entire day fun and memorable. The scenery was spectacular, but Franco was the highlight of the experience. His passion for Madeira and his ability to make the adventure exciting while keeping us safe made this a day we will remember for a very long time. What a great trip with an incredibly kind, fun and friendly local guide Fábio. 4x4 it’s the best way to see the Island, the shortcut roads are an adventure in themselves. The sites are amazing and only 20/25 minutes between each stop. Don’t think about it twice, just book it and enjoy..

The only way to see the island, a small independent company operated by two great local guys. Fábio an absolute gentleman took care of us on this superb adventure across Madeira. The sites, the hills, the views the adventure off road was just superb. A full day trip that was just a pleasure. Every stop is around 20 minutes from each so it feels easy and the shortcuts the 4X4 takes themselves are entertainment.

Be prepared for lots of fun. Slight off roading. Watch for Cow patties at the high park. Wear comfortable shoes.

What a fantastic experience, Miguel our host and driver could not have been more helpful. His communication before the trip was spot on and then his knowledge during the tour gave us a valuable insight into the history of Madeira. Miguel also has a great sense of humour which made it even more interesting. He took us along several off-road treks which were exhilarating but always felt completely safe in the Mitsubishi 4x4. Some of the stops were quite busy but we still had plenary of time to make the most of them and also enjoyed Miguel’s recommended diversion to see the waterfall to the sea. The final stop at Câmara de Lobos fishing village was beautiful followed by wine tasting at the Henriques and Henriques Madeira winery which made a lovely end to an amazing day. We would totally recommend this trip especially with Miguel - Obrigado 😊

I did this tour in August 2026 and it was great! Our tour guide Miguel was very communicative ahead of the tour and on the day he took us to great sites and provided great suggestions when certain spots were too crowded. Learned a lot about Madeira and saw some amazing places. Would highly recommend!
