Guided Tour Electric Mountain Bike Experience

Great tour, chose the half day introduction due to weather and time left on Island. Had a great morning with Afonso and will definitely book with them again next time we are visiting, looking forward to the full day tour. Bikes were great and well maintained, as there was only the two of us Afonso was able to tailor to us. Would thoroughly recommend booking direct, lots of help and great advice.

😊 Positives * Easy to find the pick-up point. * Straightforward online booking. * A really friendly and enthusiastic guide who spoke excellent English. * Absolutely stunning scenery throughout the ride. * Quiet off road trails for most of the day. ☹️ Could be improved * As a family of four, we didn’t always feel included. The guide spent much of the tour chatting, cycling and racing ahead with a Dutch couple, so we often felt left behind. * The pace on the roads was too fast and not inclusive. The younger adults sped downhill, leaving us trailing behind, feeling excluded and also feeling their speed was dangerous (especially when a car came round a bend on the wrong side and almost hit one of our group). * Instructions were only given to those at the front. Because we were further back, we missed some of the guidance. I missed one instruction and ended up falling off my bike. * We would have appreciated more photo stops, as the scenery was spectacular and there were plenty of opportunities to pause and enjoy it.

A very scenic ride through the Levadas at the East of the Island, with a very talented local Guide. Went through the levadas with beautiful scenery and easy riding but also came to our costs with a small flowtrail along the way. All fitted to your needs and the inividual riding level of tve riders in the group. It was a pure pleasure to go on the trip with our Guide Afonso, would recommend a lot and definitely coming back for more.🤙🏽 Greetings to Afonso and the Hole Team at E-Bike Madeira. 🤟🏽

We had a great day seeing so many parts of the island we never would have seen. Marcus was a great guide, and was a wealth of knowledge explaining things to me and my family along the way. We saw the mountains and also spent time on the roads riding as well. I'd highly recommend this experience!

Our first experience of e mtb, team were helpful, bikes in good condition and our guide Marco was fun and helped instil some confidence in our youngest to the point that she kept pushing to go quicker. Great day out, thank you!

Epic day of riding! Intermediate E-Enduro tour with Marco. Perfect mix of technical vs flowy, open vs forest, challenging sections with easy rest zones. Really incredible!

Fantastic mountain bike trip with the family and tour guide. Montado do Pereiro mostly flat and following the levadas. Good bikes and easy to adjust. Opportunities to stop and hydrate. Probably not one for the cautious cyclist, but a great way to see the fauna, foliage and pretty waterfalls. Great guide who was patient and helpful. Would thoroughly recommend for children 12 and above.

We had a great trip, family of 3, beginners for e-biking. The tour guides were very friendly, informative and patient. The scenery was beautiful and quiet, away from the crowds. The tour guide adapted the route to suit our needs. Thanks!

Despite the weather, tour was very nice and fun. Guide was understanding and inspiring us. He chosed places to go based on our skill and riding ability. Different types of terrain, single track, with rocky and rooty sections. Trails covered with slippery clay. Thumbs up! 👍

I booked this ride, but they upgraded me to the level 2 ride at no extra charge. Marcos was brilliant! Very friendly and encouraging. He let the group know what to expect throughout the day and changed the ride based on the trail conditions. Marcos also took loads of photos, which he shared at the end of the day. After riding with Freeride Madeira on another day, there is no contest between the companies. Freeride felt impersonal and the guide barely spoke to us. Freeride didn't adjust the ride based on trail/weather conditions, so it turned into a terrifying ride. I will definitely book E-bike Madeira next time!

We were originally booked on for the Wednesday but due to the weather we were notified in plenty of time that i was cancelled. Was offered to swap onto another day or a refund, we swapped onto the Thursday. Met at the shop, signed paperwork then was transported to the start point. Our guide Pedro was brilliant, we knew with the weather the night before it would be wet and muddy. The guide gave clear instructions at points where it was really boggy with mud to keep you safe. The EBikes were in great condition, i always find when you go on “bikes” you get a bike where something is wrong or they not quite fixed it properly, here the bikes are well maintained and the electric assist was perfect and simple to use. We stopped at points and Pedro gave some us some info on some of the nature which was interesting but didnt labour on too much, timings was perfect. 100% recommend - as long as you can comfortably ride a bike, this little off roading is doable for all abilities.

A really positive experience despite the weather! Booking was simple via what’s app & the shop was easily found. We had Nelson as our driver & Marcos as our guide. The ride was altered to try and make the most of the weather. We had varied tracks, forests, trails & some single tracks plus a great downhill on road to the beach at the end. A stop at a local bar/restaurant was very welcome & gave us a chance to taste some local drinks/food. I am not as confident on my bike as my husband but Marcos chose a good route so my husband could go faster & enjoy the thrills whilst I could enjoy the scenery & stay intact. I think Marcos knew every rock, root & bend on the route. I felt very safe with him. An excellent ride & probably even better in the sunshine. Thank you.

We strongly recommend E-bike Madeira. We booked the e-enduro tour with them and had an amazing day in the Poiso area. Marcos as our guide and Nelson as our driver were a great team. Marcos was able to exactly assess our level and brought us to the trails that were just perfect for our level (blue and light red). Challenging but still feasible. We were so lucky to be just the 2 of us and it was never a question to cancel so we had like a private tour. For lunch, they brought us to a super local place where the host Maria was very nice and showed us all the meals to help us select. The price for lunch was super cheap, while the food was tasty. Lunch was a great opportunity to hear some local tips on things to do and restaurants from Marcos and Nelson and we tried them and this was all super worth it! During the ride, Marcos was super caring, regularly asking how we were feeling and also giving technical tips to improve and advice on how to pass obstacles. We rode a lot during the day and were so happy about the experience that we are now going for another day :-) Overall great experience so don't hesitate to book this, you won't be disappointed. They can guide you to the right experience based on your level so that it fits as the Madeira trails are offering possibilities for all levels (it was very easy to book via email for the first day and Sergio was very responsive. For our next improvised additional day, Sergio was very responsive on whatsapp and was able to offer options fitting with our time table and preference.

I booked a mtb experience that should have been 30-40km until 3-4pm. The itinerary began with a Levada walk and continue until their shop in Funchal. But we took a small walk 20km and they said it’s done. When I asked them that i paid for another itinerary they changed the description from the listing. So I don’t recommend them!

My guide Marco and I had a great day on the trails. I had great pleasure and enjoyment. I highly recommend it.

We did an eMountain Bike tour of the local mountains with Marcos and Nelson, and thoroughly enjoyed it! They picked us up at our hotel and drove us to the starting point way up in the hills. The van is new and comfortable. The Cannondale eMountain bikes are in great condition with a powerful motor and a long lasting battery. Marcos is an excellent leader and understood the capabilities of our group which influenced his choice of trails to take us on. We saw some amazing views and rode on a few Levada trails in the forest. Nelson drove the van and met us at various checkpoints to ensure we were all good. They are the nicest guys! We stopped for lunch at this wonderful cafe with authentic Portuguese food. There’s no set menu. You get what they made that day. Fantastic food! We highly recommend them for eMountain biking! You’ll love it!

Too few mountains and "single tracks", too many regular asphalt roads. We were given electric bikes but we were practically going downhill all the time. Not very varied route. Very low level of difficulty - it looks like I made the wrong choice but I couldn't find enough information in the description of this event. Too many breaks - something that was supposed to last 6 hours can be done in 3 hours.

Booking process via messages with Paolo was so easy and highly efficient (even last minute) and we were only asked to pay at the end of the tour. Our supreme guide, Marco, was extremely pleasant, entertaining and deeply knowledgeable - not only of trails options but also aspects about the island. He led us along a mixed 40km route consisting of on-road and off-road surfaces, which suited our capabilities and confidence. This included lush levada routeways, prairies, public paths and quiet [almost vacant] roads. The quality of e-bikes was superb and comfortably easy to control/balance. No hard exercise was required - eBikes effectively remove all the hills! Along the route, Marco took >80 photos/videos and transferred those to us as a glorious memento without charge. We would have been happy to repeat the entire day. Excellent value, stunning scenery and glorious fun! Humble Scots express our deep thanks.

Great experience. Bikes were well prepared and fun to ride. Route was varied and with beautiful views. Guide was highly experienced and took a lot of care to keep everyone safe whilst giving us a great time.

Excellent, straight forward experience. First timer to the e-biking . Well guided, yet freedom to roam if you feel like it. Good gear , local knowledge.

The tour was nice with some path in the forest, some view points and it was adapted to our not very experienced level. I think there are some harder routes for more experienced people. Also the guide was very nice.

Booked a Level 1 guided Tour first and it was a nice sightseeing tour. The Level 2 guided tour is terrific. What a great experience, riding on fantastic trails, technical but amazing. If you like mountain biking a must to do on your bucket list

When it came with a young boy, who we had to take into account, the trip became little challenging for us. The course selection chosen by the guide was boring, and the guide was pleasant and professional.

We have booked 3 tours with e-bike Madeira. All tours were super organized. Nice contact in the store and our tour guides Marcus and Marco supervised us and led us to cool trails. They also adapt themselves to each guest so that everyone gets their money's worth. Depending on your skill level, the tour will be adapted. We will book our tours through E-Bike Madeira again at any time. They also have a good e-bike fleet with enough battery power. 👍🏻

We were on holiday this August 2024 in Madeira and I could not let go take a guided Ebike tour through the mountains, I had already read that they were amazing , both the trails / singles tracks and the environment and I DID NOT DISAPPOINT !!!! They left me an Ebike Mondraker geometry of Enduro and protections, both helmet and knee pads and we made the guided tour with PEDRO, I had a great time, explained in detail each track as it should be done passes have a great time and so it was. In the second part of the day I was left alone with PEDRO since the other companions had already tired, they didn't seem to have much experience in mountain bike and I don't think much of ENDURO either, so I could enjoy with PEDRO to the fullest and so he taught me better the tracks. I had one scare and another, crashing into some tree, some bad-faced DROP, the normal when you do this activity, but I arrived whole and without any broken bones at the end of the day and took a stunning memory of MADEIRA and its mountains. I will repeat again when this wonderful island returns. THANK YOU SO MUCH TO PETER FOR YOUR PATIENCE AND FOR MAKING ME ENJOY THIS STUNNING TOUR OF THE TRAILS OF YOUR ISLAND, I WILL REPEAT AGAIN. Very bad experience because the boss did not respect his commitments. He told us that if we booked well in advance we would have a French guide, which we wanted. But he didn't respect it. Language comprehension problem and the proposed tour was not at all what we expected. The guide had nothing to do with it but we came close to disaster with this accident. It is therefore necessary to check what is proposed as a tour.
