Excellent tour to the southwest of the island. Pickup from the cable car station in Funchal was prompt - pick up from my hotel was not available. Just five people in an eight seater minibus made this very comfortable and guide Niko was very friendly and informative. Lots of interesting stops along the coast and inland and great views from the bus too.
A really good tour made special by our excellent tour guide. I believe his name is Louis (Lewis in English) He had a good manner, spoke in perfect English and German and was very knowledgeable about the sights, the nature and the country customs.
We attended the Go South West tour with Happy Tours. This was our second tour with the company and we were delighted to have the same driver as our first visit - he greeted us like old friends, with a huge smile and a cheerful demeanour. The company were also happy and able to provide a booster cushion for our 6 year old, to ensure he was safe and could see clearly out of the mini bus windows. This tour took in places like Ponta do Sol, Madalena do Mar, Calheta, Miradouro Farol da Ponta do Pargo and School Farm dos Prazeres. There were a mixture of experiences including the chance to see scarecrows from a village festival and seeing golden (imported) sands. As with all tours, there could have been minor improvements to the amount of time allotted to each area. We felt like we only touched upon the delights of Calheta before dashing back to the minibus to avoid holding up the tour. This is just one of those things, however, when enjoying an organised tour and cannot be helped. Our guide gave us lots of useful information along the way and was full of personality and life. At the end, when making the drops to the various hotels and drop off points, he kindly drove the minibus right down the steep hill to our hotel entrance (from the road entrance above), which was a kind touch and was appreciated after the long day of exploring. I wouldn't hesitate to book with Madeira Happy Tours in future and our two days spent with the company gave us many of the highlights of our holiday.

This was an amazing day. I have long wanted to go to Ponta do Pargo but this trip was so much more. The was made more special by the weather and the fantastic driver, Luis- so friendly and knowledgable.

An enjoyable and interesting day trip some good photograph locations. Our guide and driver was helpful friendly and knowledgeable throughout and recommended several options for our lunch. A relaxing and pleasant day of sight seeing, would use this company again.
Great tour good amount of sites to see for this day trip. When we got to the site on the Island that had the fires the driver told us that it was started by heat. The fire was started by arson and I asked him about it. Tell people the truth there are bad people everywhere. Heat doesn't start a fire and it sounded ridiculous.
We went on the go west, south west and nuns valley tours. Excellent minibus guides giving fascinating information about Madeira. Office staff excellent and attentive. Good value and comfortable minibuses. AAA+++
I took the Madeira Happy Tours excursion to the Southwest part of Madeira, which most tourists do not visit. There were only 3 of us on the tour so we were able to go where large groups could not. We walked through a banana plantation in Madalena do Mar. Madeiran bananas are smaller than South American ones, but are sweeter. You can get them only in Portugal. I got into a staring contest with an emu at the Pedagogical Farm in Prazeres. At the southwest tip of Madeira is the Ponta do Pargo lighthouse, built in 1922. We stopped for lunch at Restaurante O Farolim (The Lighthouse) in Ponta do Pargo (cost not included in the tour). The Scabbardfish Fillet Madeiran Style was so tasty with the banana on top! Our last stop was the beach at Calheta. We had a nice stroll along the seashore and could watch the people enjoy the protected beach.
Happy Tours is my Go To excursion provider in Madeira. This time I was a little disappointed that, being the week before Christmas, there were far fewer tours available and, to be honest, the salesman in their shop wasn't particularly helpful but I managed to book the south west tour which I'd done before but a while ago. This one did, I think a slightly different and better route. The guide, Tino, was exceptionally good - very knowledgeable, obviously devoted to his island and its history, culture and natural beauty. The stops were well-timed and Tino was informative and interesting at each one. We were lucky with the weather and it was another excellent day out with Happy Tours.
We have just returned from 2 weeks in Madeira and had booked our tours in advance on the Happy Tours website. We did South, North, East and West tours, Nuns Valley tour, Vale Paraiso Levada walk and Serra Vale Agua Levada walk. This review covers them all. We really enjoyed all the tours we went on, very informative and a great way to see the island on our first visit. For 3 of our tours (South, North and East) our driver and guide was Luis Mateus and he was fantastic. You can tell he loves his job and he is very passionate about the island. He was such good company and made our holiday so enjoyable. He is a credit to the company. We had no problems, we were picked up on time outside our hotel and felt we definitely got our money's worth
This is a must on your bucket list for Madeira! Rugged and beautiful scenery… wonderful change of pace from Funchal! Our driver Hugo was very friendly & knowledgeable. I was exhausted at the end of the day, I forgot my iPhone in the bus. I went to the office… they called Hugo, he brought the phone back to the office within the hour 😊 NOTE: Madeira Happy Tours does not offer Time Share promotions. I discovered other companies do… BE AWARE!
Beautiful day to discover the south coast of Funchal to the lighthouse of Ponta do Pargo, with banana grove (clear explanations of the banana cycle by the guide Hugo at the top👍), educational farm where to enjoy a delicious warm sidedra (hot apple juice with cinnamon, fennel, lemon zest🤤), superb mountains with lush vegetation but which seem imposing above the sea, adorable little villages, and possibility of swimming at the beach of Calheta🏖️

The tour was different than expected, first stop in Ribeira Brava, then almost just sitting on the bus, we would have liked to see the small towns
