Funchal City Tour + Old Town

The tuk-tuks were parked a little down the road from the stated meeting place, near the CR7 museum. I should point out that the tuk-tuks are motorised and very safe, and not to be confused with the dodgy ones cycling around London. Our guide was Beatriz who was excellent - very knowledgeable about Funchal and Madeira. Also, our time overran by quite a lot but our guide was more keen to tell us about her city than ending the tour, which was very generous. It was a great way to see parts of the city you wouldn't normally see and hear about it's history. Very highly recommended.

Wacef was our driver for this tour. He was great fun and full of interesting information. The tuk tuk was clean and comfortable. We saw areas of Funchal we would have missed if we had been on foot. Fun experience!

Lots of fun on this whistlestop 60 min tour with Tom. We whipped by the main attractions of Funchal, perfect if you just want a taste of what is available and we didnt feel the need to go back and revisit on foot so it ticked the box. Also great customer service from Ricardo prior to the tour, and a hotel pick up, thank you.

We had an excellent tour guide to show us around the city in a TukTuk! He picked us up right from the hotel and toured us around showing us the Fort, a beautiful church and more. He spoke great English, knows the area quite well and shared some local customs with us. I highly recommend this tour!

Ricky was fantastic: very friendly and informative. We wish we had done this when we first arrived in Funchal. The tuktuk literally took us to places we never would've found, and helped us orientate ourselves around the cobble streets in old town. Plus it was so much fun!! Ricky was a great communicator and tour guide. Ahead of our 11am tour Ricky messaged to inform us the toboggan rides were closed for the day due to wet weather. He asked if we wanted to go ahead with different tour or postpone. We decided to go ahead and weren’t disappointed. We went to Cristo Rei statue stopping enroute for pictures. We then went to Old Town Funchal. We finished up in local bar sampling poncha (at our request!). Ricky’s knowledge of Madeira is excellent and he tailored our tour to suite us. Highly recommend.

We got really lucky and booked last minute and got a tour with Alexis, the owner of the company. I cannot say enough about this tour and how it’s the perfect thing to do right when you arrive in Madeira. We didn’t have a handle of how big the town is or the restaurants away from the resort or the history of the town. He showed us everything we needed to see to get a good history and to understand what our options were for the rest of the stay! He was friendly and LOVES his company and takes pride in the Tuk Tuks. His was way nicer than the other ones we saw on the road. It’s also good to start with this company because they have a ton of other 1-3 hour tours that you might want to check out later in your stay. We didn’t the Old City Funchal tour first and are glad we did! I really do recommend this tour!

We had a lovely experience travelling Funchal Madeira with our amazing tour guides Inês and David. They were very welcoming and made us feel very safe. Good fun tour. As we were staying elsewhere on the island, Ricky our guide and driver met us near the CR7 museum. It was only an hour’s tour but was a perfect and good fun way to see the main part of town and get your bearings. We stopped 4 or 5 times for photos and to walk thru places like the farmers market. Ricky was very knowledgeable and happy to answer all of our questions.

It was a really interesting tour. Ricky was very knowledgeable and we got a real feel for the city, it was great to drive down some of the really narrow streets in the old town. Pick up was on time from our hotel and as requested we were dropped off in the centre of town so we could watch some folk dancing Ricky gave us time to stop to admire views, to look inside a church and the fort at the top of town, he gave us ideas for places to eat and suggestions of where we might go back to. Particularly helpful as we were only there for 4 days. There was room for 3 of us across the back although some might find it a bit cosy. A very worth while trip.

Booked the tour for 2 adults and 1 child on viator. Good contact on email and Whatsapp. Was met by the Viator rep at the tuk tuk meeting point (near CR7 museum, 15 minutes walk from the ship dock) who explained they could not fulfil the booking but had outsourced our booking to Tuk.Tuking. Had an excellent city tour with Ricardo who was very considerate, informative and made the tour feel personalised. Plenty of stops at lovely, interesting places. Our guide Ricardo was very knowledgeable and also very funny. His English was perfect and gave us lots of insights into Funchal and being a Maderian. Although the weather was atrocious he was very considerate and provided blankets to keep us warm.

As we had visited Funchal many times including our honeymoon our guide took us to lots of places we had t visited. Our guide spoke excellent English and we thoroughly enjoyed the Tuk Tuk

This is a great way to see the city of Funchal, its so much fun going up and down the little side roads where cars can’t get through, its a bit bumpy in parts but so much fun. We hired the Tuk Tuk in Funchal and opted to include the Toboggan Monte. Our driver Ricky was so informative and so passionate about his country. The Toboggan Monte was really good, those guys are so fit, don’t forget to smile as you are going downhill as you will have your photo taken and then you can purchase it. Really recommend this trip, well worth the money and a great experience!!

Fabio and Ricky were lovely, went to nuns valley with a few cheeky stops on the way. They were both very knowledgeable. The next day we went to the skywalk the highest part of the island then to the fishing village another few cheeky stops. They stayed with us throughout guiding us, didn't feel rushed. Our guide was Fabio, he was very friendly and it was very nice to get a local´s perspective. Fabio gave us time to explore, take pictures, and give some historical background . He also took the time to recommend must see, do, taste spots on the island.
