Full-day Madeira Wine Tasting Tour With Lunch

Monica was the conduit for the best day! She was so personable, knowledgeable and truly wanted to provide an outstanding day. The wine was amazing and our second stop at Quinta do Barbusano was the best experience - the tour, lunch, the wine, the views. It was wonderful! Thank you!

We had a wonderful day out with Monica on a full day wine tour. She is a very friendly person, fantastic tour guide and very skilled driver. She was a wealth of knowledge about all things Madeira and very happy to share her knowledge and the love of her island with us. The trip is for a maximum of 7 people, however we were only 4, so we were all very comfortable in Monica's Mercedes van. All of our stops were a great experience, lunch was delicious and we left with a much better understanding of both Madeira and table wine production on the island. We are so pleased we booked this tour and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Madeira who is looking for more personalised experience.

What an absolutely brilliant day! Communication with Iara was superb, and she managed to amend the tour to a private one, bespoke for our group. She also arranged pick-up from Calheta for a nominal additional fee. Our guide, Pedro, fitted right in with our vibe. He happily chatted with us, regardless of age or interests. He was knowledgeable about both the island and the three wineries we visited. He drove with care and at a comfortable speed on the bendy, narrow mountain roads in the north. The scenery was outstanding. Blakey’s tasting was polished and a great start. Lunch at Barbusano was generous and well cooked. All the hosts and guides spoke excellent English. A ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ day out!

I did this winery tour solo and had an amazing time. It ended up being a very small group. We went to three wineries in different areas with vista stops along the way. Our lunch meal was delicious. Our guide Monica was also wonderful. She shared lots of interesting information about the history of Madeira.

Had a fantastic day out with Monica. Visited three different places for wine tasting. Had two short “unofficial” stops in between to take in the beautiful scenery. Lovely, comfy car which seated 7 plus Monica who drove and explained things on the way. Plenty of food and wine for lunch with amazing views over the vineyard. Was a lovely day out which we really enjoyed.

Pedro was such a great guide! 5 stars! Would recommend this tour to all wine lovers. The second stop was by far my favorite, the vineyard is beautiful and the meal is superb! best Espeteda we had on the island.

This was probably one of the most expensive day trips we have ever booked but worth every penny. With a small group of 4 we certainly could not complain about a lack of personal attention. Our guide for the day was Filipa who we could not praise enough for the sharing of her immense knowlege about Madeira and her general company throughout. Our 1st stop was Blandy's where we learnt so much about the families history, investements and passion about their fortified wine business. Great tastings and explanantions about the various wines. Our 2nd visit was to Mr Antonio's table wine vineyard. We had an escorted vineyard visit and wine tasting with Joana whose passion and knowledge about this vinyard (and wines in general) was outstanding. This vinyard tour was followed by extensive wine tastings and accompanied by a very full lunch. The final visit was to the Barbeitos production site. Sadly our guide for that didn't have the greatest knowledge and for our tastings didn't provide water between these to clear the palatte. This was disappointing after our previous 2 visits. Because of the latter I did consider giving this a 4 star rating but that would have been unfair on the many positives and enjoyment of everything else.

Monica was our guide. The day was fabulous from pick up to drop off. Everything was smoothly coordinated. In addition to the tastings, winery tours and lunch, we enjoyed riding along the backroads of Madeira. We saw beautiful coastline on the north-east side of the island and learned many facts about the island. It was a wonderful day!

Roberto was a great guide today. With just 2 of Us on the tour we had our own personal guide. He was very knowledgeable about the island and everything we saw, not just the wines which themselves were excellent. 2 highly recommend taking this full day tour. Best day on the island so far.

The 3 wine lodges/farms we visited were stunning, the lunch is something we will never forget it was delicious with ample wine to sample and one of the best views in the world. Mónica was our guide and she made it special. Her knowledge, friendliness and passion for sharing what she loves about the island made it so memorable. The tours and wines were great, but you can try them by just showing up. Having a local guide brings the experience to the next level. Well worth it.

This tour was outstanding, our guide Roberto was very knowledgable and gave us lots of useful insights into life in Madeira and details about the Madeira Wine. The three tasting sites were very different and unique in their own way and the lunch was very good. I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone interested in Madeira wines and who wants to see some of the stunning scenery in the north and south of the island.

We had a great day with Roberto. We started with a tasting of Madeira wine at Blandy’s and then drove to Quinta do Barbusano where we had a tour of the vineyard along with a delicious lunch and many different wines for us to try and enjoy. We then went for another Madeira wine tasting which was a different style than Blandy’s. Roberto gave us lots of great information about the places we went along with information about the island. He was a wonderful driver and tour guide. Highly recommend!

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the wine tour. We were in a small group of 8 people, and we soon got chatting on the bus. Our guide, Roberto, was excellent. He was full of stories and anecdotes, and always keen to ensure we were having the best time. We visited three wineries, and tasted a whole variety of local wines. The lunch included in the trip was excellent, set against the spectacular backdrop of the north Madeira mountains. We would highly recommend this trip to anyone with an interest in wine and local history, or someone who enjoys travelling through dramatic landscapes with a small group of likeminded individuals.

This was the highlight of our holiday. We started our tour at Blandys, then were driven across to the north side of the island which was beautiful and scenic to Barbugano vineyard which were table Madeiran wines where an excellent lunch was served with a wine of your choice. Then the day finished at Barbeito which was a more modern day concept of manufacturing the wine. Roberto was the most lovely host and a very intelligent man who shared his wealth of knowledge of the island. The driver I would also like to thank, a very careful driver with no rushing on their twisty and fast roads. Would recommend this tour and if visiting again would without hesitation re-book. Everyone was generous with their time and the amount you could drink.

This is a wonderful trip. Roberto our guide is brilliant, entertaining, informative and friendly. The Blandys Madeira tasting and tour is great. The drive along the coast and up the mountains to the vineyard is truly spectacular and a great way to see the island. The vineyard tour was very interesting but the best part was definitely the lunch and wine 👏👏. Amazing beef skewers, fresh salad and beautiful local potatoes, lots of wine and leave room for dessert . The third winery was closed for holidays but we did visit the north coast and a lovely little bar for Poncha and Portuguese stew. Delivered back safely to our hotel slightly drunk and full belly . Well worthwhile trip.

We found this tour through a pamphlet at the Cliff Bay hotel, which suggested various activities around Madeira. As a group of four friends we decided to give it a try. The price at first seemed a bit high — but now after the experience we can sit was worth it. Roberto, our guide, picked us up in a minibus, that had a designated driver for the whole tour, leaving time for Roberto to focus on describing the surrounding area and nature, did I mention? He has an excellent command of the English language and is truly knowledgeable about the Madeiran wine scene and is entertaining to listen to. The second vineyard was out favorite location, it is a bit tricky to reach but totally worth it. We had a delicious lunch there paired with white, red and rosé wine tasting. Also if you want to see mountain landscape and more nature than in Funchal, this trip offers you a great glimpse. You'll definitely get bang for your buck with this tour and Roberto as your guide. We booked a full day wine tour with Madeira wine tours on June 11, 2025. Communication was great, they were very timely picking us up at our hotel. Our tour guide Roberto Loja was really great telling us about the island as we drove around. Our tour guides at each of the locations were so knowledgeable and provided lots of great information about the history of the vineyards, and the make up of the wines etc ... We had adequate time at each of the stops. The lunch at Quinta fo Barbusano was beyond delicious and filling, the amount of food, and wine, we were served was beyond generous! They kept bringing out espetadas, cooked perfectly to each of our likings, and topping off our wine glasses. All included in the cost of the tour!! Our driver was also great. The views were amazing and it was a nice opportunity to take them all in as I didn't have to drive. Also, enjoyed meeting and interacting with the others in our group. It was very enjoyable and I highly recommend them! 1000% Thank you Roberto and Madeira Wine Tours for such an awesome experience! I can't wait to come back and do it again!

Just back from our full day wine tasting trip and we have had a fabulous day. Alberto was an excellent driver and drove on the narrow roads with skill and confidence. Our guide Roberto was knowledgeable and professional but more than that his open personality and easy humour made him feel like a friend very quickly. The group we joined was only seven participants in total and it was a good size to hear all the details and ask questions. I would definitely recommend this trip.

Leisurely day of wine tasting and seeing the island, with a great guide. We learned the difference between Madeira Wine and Madeiran Wine, and walked along stunning vineyards and saw beautiful views of the island. Lunch was delicious, and the opportunity to try Madeira Wines made by two different methods was really interesting. One of the highlights of our holiday. Being in a small group was really great, we had plenty of opportunities for questions and we didn’t feel rushed at any point during the day.

Full Day Wine Tour From Funchal with visits to 3 producers, wine ratings and lunch. We were picked up as planned from our hotel in Monte, Funchal. Roberto was a knowledgeable, personable and very humorous guide. First stop on the tour comprised an introduction by Daniela to the process of making Madeira wines at major producer Blandy's followed by tastings. Next stop was Quinta do Barbusano a vineyard in the most beautiful and spectacular setting in Sao Vicente near the north coast of the island. Here we viewed vines on steep hills, were briefed on the challenges in producing their non fortified wines, sampled them and enjoyed a substantial and delicious lunch with our favourite wine. Finally via some breathtaking views on the North Coast we returned to Funchal to visit the high tech Vinhos Barbeito; toured their impressive production facilities; sampled their fortified wines; bought our favourite. A throughly enjoyable and facinating day. Highly recommended.

Our tour guide, Monica was Fabulous! Our Wine Tour allowed for us to learn and appreciate the process of wine making and tastings at each family owned vineyard! The tour included an incredible authentic Madeiran lunch with delicious meat skewers, salad, potatoes and dessert!

A thoroughly enjoyable wine tour combined with a tour of the north of the island. Sophia was an excellent guide and driver, keeping us entertained with stories on the drive between the vineyards. Good to go to Antonio's vineyard up in the north for tasting of still wines and delicious lunch plus two visits for Madeira wine tastings. There were only 3 of us so it felt like a private tour and well worth the cost.

Brilliant tour, probably the best we have done in several years of coming to Madeira. Sofia was n excellent facilitator with lots of stories to tell. The tour of Blandys was fascinating, seeing and smelling the barrels was amazing. Lunch at the vineyard, with tastings of 6 wines and a guided tour was beyond expectations. The final Madeira Wine plant was the perfect finish to the day. Loved it.

We had a wonderful day with an excellent guide. Sofia was entertaining and very informative which added to our overall enjoyment of the tour. The wines we tasted, both Madeira and Madeiran were lovely, it was very interesting and we thoroughly enjoyed the trip to the North or the island which gave us an opportunity to see more than just Funchal. The lunch was really enjoyable with very generous portions. All in all, faultless.

A lovely tour. Sofie was a delight. She is a wonderful storyteller that made all the history and facts interesting and fun. The only hiccup was lunch. It's not at a restaurant but at a winery that only serves one thing - Beef skewers, alongside sides of potatoes, lettuce salad and bread. If someone has a dietary issue this must be addressed beforehand. I didn't know and I am allergic to beef. The winery staff were kind and gave me some cheese and pork charcuterie, however if one doesn't eat beef there were no alternatives.
