Electric Bike Tour In Northern Madeira

This is a tour not to be missed! Never did I think I would be biking up inclines like there are here, but with an e-bike anything is possible! The views were absolutely beautiful and Venancio took great care of us. Be sure to bring gloves and a raincoat just in case. We got hit with a little rain, but stopped for coffee and then headed back out into the sunshine.

E-biking on trails was such a fun experience. Our guide was very knowledgeable and created a fun, informative and safe experience for all of us.

Great tour, pick up at hotel in Funchal. Small Group, excellent Quality gear which made the tour very doable for all ages and conditions. Guide is local and very knowledgeable and keeps close eye on his group. The tour does not go off road though right through nature with spectacular views and hight differences.

This was a great experience, we got picked up from our hotel and taken to the start point the guide was great, very kind and knowledgeable. This is really an activity for all ages and all abilities. The bikes were great!! All round highly recommend this tour, you’ll see some amazing This and see some amazing things!

We did a ride on the north side of the island and our guide was very friendly and knowledgeable about the area and vegetation ,we can’t recommend this tour enough if you want to see the landscape with the aid of a e bike for the hills

We were fortunate to end up with a private tour with Financio who picked us up at the cruise port and dropped us downtown. As it was raining in the north our route was changed to the southwest. Financio shared a wealth of info about Madeira and led us UP a scenic road with pano views of the terraced agricultural valleys and out to sea. E-bikes were made for a gradual climb like this, and the bikes provided were top notch, making the effort just enough to get some exercise but without getting exhausted. At the summit was a pano view out toward Funchal, where we stopped for a coffee and WC. I’m an experienced cyclist though not a fan of long downhills on unfamiliar roads, but this descent wasn’t bad, I actually enjoyed it and the vistas it afforded. There was moderate slow traffic but they were courteous. The last drop down to Ribeira Brava was steeper but worth it to be able to ride a mile long pretty seaside bike path. We opted not to ascend the next mountain from there, we were satisfied with what we had already done and wanted time to explore Funchal in our one port day. A great experience, thank you!

Really recommend this. An excellent way to see a very scenic and beautiful part of Madeira, and really great fun. Learnt lots too.

Our tour guide was very friendly and incredibly knowledgeable. They took us to some hidden local gems that we would have never discovered on our own. The views along the way were incredible, especially at the top, it was definitely worth the climb!! We even stopped for a coffee break at a charming spot along the way, which was a perfect touch. I highly recommend this tour to anyone looking to explore the area in a unique and memorable way with a bit of adventure!

The guide was excellent and so was the tour. I did pay over £60 which I thought was a little on the high side for a half day cycle ride.

We had 3 x fantastic e-bike tours with Madeira Island Route during our holiday - The North, The West and an improvised East tour (due to poor weather at the original tour site). The scenery and views were amazing in all 3 rides and the length of the rides was perfect (half day). The e-bikes were powerful (you do still have to pedal though!). Venancio is a fabulous guide - he speaks excellent English, shares interesting facts about the island, paces the rides just right, is considerate of comfort breaks and takes you to some great cafes! The company is very responsive to queries, the tours are easy to book and well priced. We were even picked up from our hotel which was outside of Funchal. Excellent all round - Thank you :)

We so enjoyed cycling on the Northern side of the island. Our guide was very knowledgeable about the history and culture of the island. The e-bikes helped us traverse up the hills and coming down was a reward in itself. The views were beyond stunning in both directions ! Thank you for a very memorable time!

Fantastic e-bike tour on the challenging hills of Maderia. We were picked up promptly by our guide and taken over to the north side of the island where we met a family of four for our ride. Seriously, there are no flat roads in Maderia so don’t expect a gentle cycle path ride. We climbed some serious climbs but the bikes supplied made mincemeat of them. A thoroughly enjoyable ride, about 30kms in total, made all the better by our knowledgeable guide. Some cycling experience is necessary as the ride was on road. Well recommended

The guide is really perfect and professional and speaks well English and you have a good information about the area. The tour was very nice but little bit hard. It’s not easy for everyone.

Had a great time. Never been on an e bike before and it's a lovely way to see the island. Went to some amazing viewpoints overlooking the cliffs and blue ocean and stopped for a drink and snack at a local cafe. Great host and lovely group

Great ride! First time on an e-bike and went great! The views were amazing and also the guide was very informative about madeira and willing to answer any questions. Perfect amount of riding without getting too exhausted.

Took us to beautiful views on almost traffic free roads. Set quite a gentle pace stopping regularly, but picking up enough speed on the downhill for a bit of a thrill.

A very nice alternative to hiking and driving to explore the island. The tour leads along asphalted roads and, thanks to the support of the motor, can also be easily completed by less athletic people. We were picked up at the location of our choice and everything went very smoothly. Many thanks to our guide for the pleasant atmosphere.

Absolutely incredible! We loved the e-bike tour. We have never done an e-bike tour before but it was a great way to see the island. It was one of our favourite activities of the trip and we would 100% recommend this. Great views and great route, we didn’t want it to end!

Financier was our guide and he was first class. He shared his knowledge of Madeira, of the towns, the landscape, history and way of life. The bike ride was great - sufficiently challenging to feel like you’d done some exercise but manageable up the steep inclines with the electric bikes! The scenery was wonderful - lush valleys, colourful flowers and quaint villages. Financier was a charming guide and we’d highly recommend this as an excellent way to see more of the island.

I had a great day out with these guys. Great bikes and tour guide. Beautiful things to see on lovely trails. Some road cycling is involved but the roads were very quiet.

Beautiful views and a treat to see the west side of the island. Pick up was prompt and communication with the organiser was easy. However, found the ride more physically challenging than expected, so would suggest that a degree of cycling fitness is definitely needed, as the battery only partially assists your pedalling. Would recommend to those able to cycle for 3 hours.

The booking & communication prior to the tour with Venancio was excellent. Ease of pick up in San Martinho, driven to East of island to avoid rain/storm in north and south west. Amazing views and e-bikes straight forward to use and good quality. Lots of local knowledge about the scenery and local customs. The e-bikes made the hills easy for a family of mixed abilities. We all had a great time but sadly had to cut the tour short with gusts and rain. Venancio was a star and thoroughly enjoyed his company and other guest. Highly recommend seeing the island on this ebike tour.

A wonderful family day out. Got to see parts of the island we would never have seen otherwise. Great value for money. Our guide Venanicio was excellent - knowledgeable, patient, helpful. We did a route on the North coast of the Island as there were wildfires on the other route the tour company do on the South West coast. Highly recommended, we would definitely do again to experience the South West tour.

This is an ideal tour for the occasional cyclist with moderate fitness levels. Although it was a very hot day using an e bike was very enjoyable and the knowledgeable guide steered us through the wonderful sights of Madeira.

We had an INCREDIBLE morning on this tour of the West side of the Island. We take bike tours everywhere we travel and my oldest daughter said this was her favorite!!It’s was less of a “learn about this place” tour and more of a look at how stunning this beautiful place is!

This was the most amazing experience. A perfect way to see the beautiful island of Madeira. Venancio was charming, thoughtful and very knowledgeable. We enjoyed our first day so much that we booked a second day to see more of the island. Venancio was extremely organised. We were to go to the West of Madeira but the weather was poor so he re-routed to the East which was equally as stunning as the visit to the North the day before. He picked us up from the hotel with the bikes, the ride to our starting points were interesting too. I cannot recommend highly enough.

Very pleasant experience! Madeira is a great place to discover by bike! I am not an experienced cyclist but with the electric bicycle it was perfect for me!

Having come to Maderia for some much needed Winter sun from the UK, my wife and I decided to try one of these tours. We have done this in other places and they have always been a great way to see the country, away from others and by bike out of the car. Messaged direct on e-mail and WhatsApp and after a chat i decided on our tour Sadly my wife was ill and couldn't join us, but i still joined the owner/tour leader Venancio for a half day tour of some of the view points and sights in the North of the Island. I was staying in the South at Calheta, but was picked up and taken to the start point with my other riders. I think he keeps to a max of 6 people so you shouldn't feel there are too many in your group. This was a great experience. Top bikes that can handle the roads, terrane of ride and steep slopes, and then some excellent commentary by Venancio when we stopped. You do need a reasonable level of fitness but the e-bikes help as well. We will be coming back at some stage and will use again. Most certainty good value for money.

Venancio from Madeira Island Route has guided us on an e-bike tour, he speaks a lot of languages and explained us a lot about the island. I myself am not riding a bycicle that well, but with Venancio’s help (and the e-bike’s help of course!) managed to ride up the mountains of Madeira. Totally recommend it, even if you are a beginner at riding a bycicle/e-bike, it’s a great way to discover the island!

I enjoyed this tour a lot! Venancio was very helpful with starting the bikes and gave us a lot of instructions how to use it (it was our first time on an e-bike). We had beautiful views, perfect weather and a great guide who told us stories about the area. Totally recommend! Can’t wait to come back to Madeira and book another trip with Madeira Island Route!

I just had the best experience on the recent trip I did to Madeira, I booked an e-bike tour with Mr Venâncio, who was super! His excellent knowledge and passion gave us a magnificent day, one to remember. The views are incredible, and Mr Venâncio sure knows the best spots.
