Coasteering Tour - Cliff Jumping, Swimming, Scrambling.

AMAZING! This was truly a one-of-a-kind unforgettable experience. My boyfriend and I had actually booked through another company, but they did not have enough people so they put us with Discovery Island Madeira, and we could not have been happier! Beto and Bernardo were our guides, and we agreed they are a huge part of what made the experience so awesome. They were extremely knowledgeable and concerned with safety but more importantly they were happy, funny and apparently loved their jobs. Who wouldn’t?! Madeira is PARADISE and climbing up the side of a cliff and then jumping into crystal clear blue waters is pretty much heaven. Everyone was allowed to go and do exactly what they were comfortable with, and so everyone had a great time. This is one of our favorite experiences ever! Congratulations to Discovery Island and thanks again to Beto and Bernardo for making this a memorable vacation!

We lucked out with a beautiful day & fun group. The guides were great & provided everyone with confidence. They were friendly & relaxed & took lots of excellent photos. This was the real deal with climbing, jumping & swimming. We met the guides at the site since we wanted to hike São Lourenço after.

Oh my gosh. Adrenaline junkie? GO!!! It was so fun, all of the activities combined into one hike. Rock climbing, cliff jumping, slack lining and snorkeling! We even got to see a turtle. Marcus and Leo were absolutely amazing and made the trip even better!

Had the best time! Afonso and margarida were just amazing, both very lovely, Afonso has lots of terrible jokes and we loved him for it. The activity was as demanding as you wanted it to be, if you wanted to do a jump you could go high or low. The group were also lovely people, all in all a great way to spend the morning 💖

Climbing, rock jumping (maxing out at 12 meters) and a bit of snorkeling around the coast of the Devil tail. Elphonso and Baitu (Cristo Redentor) were excellent, funny and reliable for the whole group with different abilities. Photos of all the action are supplied through a link later. I had an amazing time coasteering in Madeira! The whole experience was thrilling, full of adventure, and incredibly fun. Tiago and Afonso were absolutely fantastic guides, very professional, friendly, and super encouraging throughout the activity. They made sure everyone felt safe and confident while still keeping the excitement high. Their energy and knowledge of the coastline made the experience even more special. I couldn’t have asked for better guides or a more beautiful place to explore. Highly recommend this activity to anyone visiting Madeira. It’s an unforgettable adventure!

Really fun tour with some swimming, climbing, cliff jumping and snorkeling. Our guides Tiago and Karina were patient, helpful and made the experience great for everyone. Definitely requires some athleticism, but there were kids under 10 on our tour who did fine.

This was an amazing activity! We were accompanied by our two guides Alex. They were excellent: thinking about our safety and having fun with us at the same time. We always had different height options for jumping which made it enjoyable for the most adventurous and less. This was one of the best activity we have done and I recommend!

Great half day trip with Tiago, Afonso and Diogo. Fun time traversing the coast, with many jumps available to suit all levels of ability. Swims in between the jumps and also scrambling over the rocks. The team ensured everyone was included but also took care with safety. Highly recommended!

Beto and Alex were awesome! They made sure everyone was very safe, yet still having a blast. The views and jumps are amazing. They bring you to easy/beginner jumps and more advanced if you are comfortable. We will definitely do this again when we come back to Madeira. This was the most fun we had out of all of our tours/excursions.

Great tour. Beto and Karina had good knowledge of the area and made it fun. They made sure safety was priority and instructions were clear. Several options for low/high jumps in the same area. Recommended👍🏻

Went coasteering with Alex and Sandro, they were both such amazing guides! Halfway through I ran into some trouble and had to stop, but they were super calm, supportive, and made me feel safe. Still a thrilling and beautiful experience!

Brilliant experience, lots of fun climbing, jumping, diving and snorkeling. Definitely recommended! It was only 6 people in our group so it was very welcoming, especially for a solo traveller.

Booking and communication was good. Pick up and drop off good and punctual. Equipment provision was good for the activity and comfortable and I didn't get cold, despite the time of year. The activity was excellent from start to finish. They catered for different abilities. My partner did all the high jumps whereas I preferred to stay a bit lower. The guides were very good with me regarding my issues about heights. I hadn't thought about getting down too and back up from the activity, which was one of the scariest bits if you have s fear of heights, but they were very empathetic, patient and understanding. We had a great time and would recommend the experience. Next time we visit Madeira, usually annually we will probably do it again.

Great time and pushed our limits. My wife and I wondered what we'd done when we were climbing down to the waters edge but really pleased we continued and did the activity. Great fun and the guides made the experience all the better. We were in a group with several others and safety was a big factor. When the waves got a bit choppy we all turned back to the safety of the sheltered water. Do it...push yourself... :-)

Amazing experience!! The guys are very talented on guiding you both on the climbing and on the diving in complete safety. They also know how to help you against fear, allowing to enjoy the very best of the adventure!

This was an awesome adventure. A little bit of hiking, scrambling and snorkeling but the best thing was the cliff jumping. Phillip and Alfonso were excellent guides. I felt safe doing everything they suggested. I would do this same trip again the next time I am in Canical.

This was a truly amazing experience and the tour guides were very knowledgeable and helpful. They were funny and made the tour very enjoyable. We jumped off many cliffs did a lot of rocky coast climbing and snorkeled! I would highly highly recommend this trip as it’s worth every penny paid for it. Would not recommend this if you’re not very physically able.

The coasteering was excellent 👌 it was very professionally organised and our safety was a primary concern for our perfect team of Bernardo, Beto & Alphonso. My wife and I along with our ten year old daughter completed this experience it lasted just over 3hrs and was fantastic experience. The combination of swimming rock climbing and jumping into the sea was full of fun and quite an adventure. Highly recommended we would definitely do this again and look forward to trying some of the other experiences on offer. You also receive a lot of great photos by email within a few hours of finishing the experience. Bernardo and Beto were amazing guides. So fun, so friendly and kept us all safe even jumping from 10m cliffs! I would definitely go with these guys again for other adventures. Bernardo also gave me his recommendations for other things to see on the island, which was very helpful - I'm writing these as I eat my sushi at Gavina's! The sea was also surprisingly warm. Definitely go on this trip!

I really didn't know what I was getting myself into with this activity. It involves swimming, jumping, snorkeling, climbing and laughing! Alex had been our guide for canyoneering and we were so glad he was also our guide for Coasteering! Mexico (nickname) was the other guide. They were excellent. Mexico did some DEATH dives for us! That was so cool. We were a group of 8, only one of us was in their 30s the rest were 50s and 60s. If you like to be active on vacation do this!!!!

This was our 2nd Discovery Island trip and it was another sensational day! We were excited to see Alex again as one of our trip guides. We did not have Beto once more, but our 2nd guide, Mauro, was wonderful. Just like on our canyonering trip, their joy for their job and their positive energy made the trip a delight. Our safety was always their top concern. They were wonderful at adjusting activities to each individual's comfort level. Some of us wanted the higher jumps, some lower and some no jumps at all. They accommodated everyone without pressure and made sure we all had a great time. It was our 1st time with Mauro - he was wonderful. And Alex is truly a world class guide (as was Beto on our canyonering trip). I would absolutely recommend this trip with Discovery Island.

I booked a coasteering tour through Viator and paid in advance. However, the tour provider later contacted me to inform me that due to low sign-ups, they couldn’t run the coasteering tour on the scheduled day. They offered to switch me to a canyoning tour instead, which I agreed to, and I did end up having a great time. The guides were fantastic, professional, and cheering. I couldn’t ask for more. That said, I’m giving an average review due to the tour provider’s lack of coordination. After my tour was changed, the staff who contacted me via WhatsApp still seemed to think I was going to do coasteering, not canyoning, which led to some confusion. The issue continued after the tour as well. I was promised photos of the canyoning tour but never received them. When I reached out to the provider, they sent me a link to photos from a coasteering tour that, according to them, didn’t even happen on the day of my canyoning tour. Despite acknowledging their mistake and me repeatedly providing the correct information, they never sent the right photos. While the photos may not be the most important part of the experience, it’s disappointing not to have access to them, especially when others did. Overall, the poor coordination and failure to follow through left a sour note on an otherwise enjoyable experience.

What a fun and memorable day! Alex and Beto were our congenial guides, and they provided such fun, contagious, and adventurous energy all throughout our excursion. My partner and I originally signed up for a coasteering tour, however, due to the small amount of people who booked this event, the organizers told us that we had to pivot and go canyoning instead. At first I was a little disappointed, but as soon as we got with the group, my disappointment disappeared out the window. The four and half hours flew by as we got to see and experience the beautiful environment that is the Madeira landscape. The morning started off with a sprinter van picking each of the members up from their respective hotels. Then our driver, Carlos, drove us up to the parking lot of the Parque Ecologico do Funchal where we met our guides, went to nature's restroom, and then changed into the provided gear. From there, Carlos drove us further up into the mountain where Alex and Beto talked us through what we were getting ourselves into just before starting our hike back down the mountain. We traversed rivers, pools, waterfalls and steep inclines by walking, sliding and jumping, all while laughing and singing our way down the mountain - it was an absolute blast. In terms of difficulty, I would say that as long as you have the mobility to navigate going up and down a set of stairs, you can do this experience. There are options to jump into pools at the bottom of waterfalls, but our guides were sure to mention that it was optional. In fact, all of the slides and rappelling and jumping were optional. But, what kind of fun is that? Embrace the exhilaration! All of that to say, we would 100% book with them again, but only if we can actually do the event we signed up for <3

The activity was really good; my boyfriend and I enjoyed it a lot. Even for me, who isn't a fan of jumping from high places, there was an option to jump from lower spots. The guides Tiago and Diogo were very attentive and explained the steps really well. They also took several beautiful pictures of us. Highly recommended! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The trip was amazing, the guides were very professional and great fun. Some of the jumps and climbs were challenging but there was no pressure to do anything you weren’t comfortable with and the guides helped you all the way. Would highly recommend!

Everything was perfect, incl hotel pickup, guides, introductions, the tour itself and the equipment. The tour was very fun and we got a lot of nice photos from the action camera. Would definitely recommend this!

The guides are making you feel welcome and included in the group. You get to experience the island in a unique way. You see several fishes and learn about the sea life in Maderia. The guides make you feel comfortable with the cliffs, and you learn how to jump. The water is beautiful, and it creates a fun experience.
