It was the first time for us in Madeira and also canyoning for the first time. Alex and Daniel make the experience great for us. A jeep took us from the hotel and after we get equiped we star the adventure. Canyoning is a great experience in Madeira, we enjoyed very much!

The guides were amazing! The nature is so beautiful, the water is nice and clear, stunning views. We always felt safe and cared for even though we had no prior experience with climbing or canyoning. Thank you to Daniel and Alfonso!

Absolutely amazing, partly because the canyoning itself is incredibly good fun, but also because our guides - Beto and Carina - were really fun too. They clearly love what they do and it shows. I can't recommend this highly enough and it's incredibly good value for money too, so don't overthink it, just do it!

I was really satisfied and happy because there wereany jumps and high cliffs that I enjoyed jumping down and climbing down! The assistants were also very very nice and fun! I would recommend it for people who don't have any fear of hights or climbing down. But I loved it very much. I would also bring my friends one day and do Canyoning together. 😁

Can fully recommend this trip. Beto and Carina were both excellent guides, and their good humour and positivity made the experience even more memorable. The terrain itself was absolutely spectacular, and the length and difficulty level felt just right. We were amazed at how warm the equipment kept us, and how comfortable the boots were to walk in. Excellent half day canyoning experience with Discovery Island. Tiago and Hugo were superb instructors, all the kit seemed new and they were very safety conscious. You need to be fit and supple, able to listen and follow instructions, but all in all this was a top hole experience, thoroughly recommended.

Wonderful experience in a beautiful part of the world - our excellent guides Tiago, Thomas and Carina were really encouraging and helpful, particularly with 2 members of our party who were somewhat afraid of heights, and made the whole experience great fun. The route was interesting and varied, and a great introduction to canyoning, with jumps, abseils and slides. The equipment was really good, and the transfers to/from the location with the guides/Carlos were like a mini-tour of the area, which was fantastic!

Fillip and Victor were amazing guides through our first canyoning experience, we were quite nervous but through their humour to us and each other they made us feel safe and well looked after. The canyoning itself is thrilling and something everyone should do and the canyon itself is beautiful! They also take lots of photos throughout which are emailed to you after which is a really nice touch!

Not good, I recommend taking the same tour through another operator, you will get more professional guides and a better organized tour. There are many others!

We booked our trip to Madeira 8 months in advance, and I knew canyoning was part of it. As a person terrified of heights and who spends 95% of her life worrying about things, I spent 8 months worried about canyoning. I kept telling myself, "you're going to chicken out anyway, so just stop worrying about it." After having children, I stopped taking risks. I stopped being adventurous. I lost who I was before them. The Discovery Island Canyoning trip gave me myself back! I found my confidence and am proud of myself. Yes, I was scared for some of it, but it was exhilarating, beautiful, and so much fun. The guides were the best part! They are so good at what they do and their personalities and how they interact with one another will calm your nerves and fears. I especially loved Alex because when he said, "I got you," on my first repel, he meant it and I knew I was safe. The person I was when I started is not who I was when I finished. It brings tears to my eyes when I think about how lucky I am that I got to do this. I will consider this one of the best things I will ever do in my life.

Unforgettable experience! Alex and Mauro are unbelievable — full of energy, with a very friendly, distinctive, and professional approach. They always made sure no one got hurt. We were pushed to the limit! 😄 It all started with listening to and singing along to music from the ’80s and ’90s. Then came the sliding, jumping, and rappelling through Ribeira das Cales. The weather was perfect, the atmosphere warm and welcoming, and the place itself — just like all of Madeira — was absolutely wonderful in the end. We envy you guys! We’ll never forget this. First of a this company is the best of the best!! From the beginning to the end they are the kindest, most professional and fun loving group I have ever taken an excursion from. Most importantly, Safety comes first. They are experts at what they are doing. They provide a transportation and gear from wetsuits to helmets. They lead you through the canyoning experience; one I have never done before but now I want to do again. Their team of eight( we were a large group of about 35) escorts you to the beginning of the trek and exceeds your needs and expectations on this adventure. The water was flowing and was icy cold but they made it so fun and helped you if you needed physical assistance. They are very kind, funny, smart and sassy at time which made it all the better. And being Portuguese, I don’t have to talk you that they were all way in the eyes too. You can’t go wrong with Discovery Island Madeira tours. I will be back next year tondi it again despite the freezing cold water. It’s too too much fun.

What a stunning experience with Sandro, Beto and Alex! From beginning with a cheery hello to the cascading waterfalls, slides and everything in between! The guys made everyone feel safe whilst being upbeat for the exciting manoeuvres to come. A very fun and thrilling adventure! Excitement and adrenaline run high, but make sure you listen to the guides and their instructions. Our guides, Sandro and Filipe were so fun and personal! The added sarcasm and humor made the trip even more fun. I was traveling alone and really felt like they tried to get to know not just me but the whole group and were looking out for our safety the entire time!

My wife and I did the Beginner Canyoning Experience. We booked a private experience. Our guides Filip and Afonso were great teachers, leaders and wonderful guides and people. With our special suits and shoes we were well equipped to give canyoning a go for the first time. The equipment was first rate and we felt very safe and warm in the cool river. This is a great way to feel part of the river ecosystem. We were inexperienced with any abseiling but under the leadership of Filip and Afonso we were able to descend safely and enjoyably. I highly recommend giving canyoning a try. Thanks again to Filip and Afonso!!!

The 2 guides were really the best. We had the funniest time, and the adventure is super interesting! It was not super easy at the beginning, but they took care of everyone, and we arrived safe and super happy at the end!

Incredible experience! The canyoning was amazing (even if very cold), and we had so much fun scrambling over rocks and abseiling down waterfalls. Absolute highlight were our guides, Alex and Mauro, who made the experience even better with their hilarious energy, excellent explanations and brilliant photos. They kept the energy up even when we were getting a bit cold, and never stopped making us laugh the whole time! We felt very safe with them and they both were very experienced and explained everything super concisely and clearly, helping to eradicate any nerves about the tour.

It was an unforgettable experience with incredible guides that now how to entertain. At some points it was challenging, however Beto and Afonso knew how to secure as at all times. Canyoning combines nature and activity and is something for every age.

We had an incredible time canyoneering with guides Beto and Daniel! Incredible location, lots of waterfalls for abseiling and jumping. Great guides, supportive and showed us how to do the different jumps safely and have fun! They were great fun and gave us tips for the rest of our trip too! We were originally booked for coasteering but were unable due to weather conditions, but instead of cancelling they drove us to the canyoneering site and still went ahead with a days activity, which was very appreciated! Would definitely recommend this activity and these guides! Thanks again!

The biggest thumbs up goes to our amazing guides Bernardo, Alfonso and Beto making this trip incredible load of fun in spite of quite cold weather that day. Very surprising adventure for people who have never tried it before. Level 1 is not dangerous if you listen to the instructions with possibility to avoid particular sections. Definitely going for the next level in the future.
